Hi dear all, I have a strange problem. I was using my S7 edge with the new gear VR (2016 edition). All was going well. Suddenly Samsung decided to bring an update named Oculus Home for China and after installing it, I can,t access the apps I had purchased and downloaded from Oculus store. The new Gear VR home only shows me the apps downloaded from Galaxy app store. It's really weird. How could Samsung ditch Oculus. Oculus is written even on the gear VR. Can anyone help me and get me out of this trouble. Thanks (By the way I live now in China but even in China, Oculus apps I had already purchased were working till Samsung forced a new update by installing Oculus Home for China.
Hi,
I live in China too and have the same issue with my Galaxy S7 Edge (Hong Kong G9350). As I understand it, both international (com.oculus.home) and China (com.oculus.gearchina) version of Oculus Home can co-exist on the phone, but the default app will be determined by the origin of the SIM card.
So if it isn't already in the device, the international version of Oculus Home home needs first to be installed. For this, a foreign SIM card and a foreign VPN connection are now needed (the device then just needs to be docked into the Gear VR to trigger the download and install process). I also saw on a Chinese forum that an app called 妙镜vr supposedly can force-start the download the international version of Oculus, but I didn't try that.
Once the downloads and installs are complete, the international version of Oculus can be used as long as you have a foreign SIM or no SIM in. However as soon as you dock the phone to the GearVR with a Chinese SIM in, you will be prompted to download and install "Oculus Home for China". If you do so, you will end up with a phone having both versions, with the Chinese one being the default. But this doesn't mean that the international version can not be used. You can still launch it from the Oculus Store app, via the blue banner that invites you to enter VR, or in the Oculus library of apps, where each VR app can be started individually. Another way to do it is to use a third party app such as QuickShortcutMaker, which will allow you to create a direct shortcut to Oculus Home (com.oculus.home) or any VR app.
The downside of these workarounds is that when you leave a VR app via the back button, you will be brought back to the "Oculus Home for China", which means that you actually have to undock the phone before being able to launch another app... In any case, remember that this is a reversible situation since you can always change the default Oculus Home just by switching to a foreign SIM card.

Does anyone know how I can put Samsung Link on my Galaxy S5? All Galaxy models have had it (it was once called Allshare), but this app is one of the main reasons why I've stuck with Samsung products. Not only for the auto backup to my desktop PC whenever I snap a picture or record a video (I can still set that up through just about any cloud service, but it still requires the extra step of downloading it onto my PC), but I use it extensively when I'm traveling. If I need a file or document, porn, etc from one of my PCs at home, Samsung Link allows me to access all of my registered devices remotely and download the file no matter where I am. It also allows me to stream video to any of my Samsung TVs in the house. I know I can do this through other apps, but Samsung Link allowed me to do all of these. This is probably the only app from Samsung that I've used on a daily basis since owning my Galaxy S2 Skyrocket. AT&T is my service provider, and I bet they took this app off their phones before loading it up with their stuff.

On my T-Mo version Samsung Link Platform, the prerequisite to run Link, has been pre-installed, I doubt ATT would mess with Samsung's core apps.
See if this works for you: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sec.pcw
I get not compatible on this device. . I also tried installing the apk from some random site, and I keep getting link fcs
Anyone help with this?
Am not seeing this too. Why?
Just an FYI, I installed the omega rom and seems they have the framework already, and link works fine now
Hello,
I think I found a bug in the Kids Mode implementation on the Yoga Tab 3 Plus YT-X703F. I found it very useful to control access to the apps and also set time limits etc. However, my nephew has managed to bypass the restrictions by simply clicking on in-app adds which automatically launched the Play Store and he basically went to town installing all the games he wanted and launching apps "hidden" in Kids Mode.
How does one report these things to Lenovo? Is anyone else experiencing the same thing?
I'm using the latest Lenovo release for 6.0.1 for the YT 3
This is frustrating!
I have just purchased a Samsung galaxy s7 edge and am trying to transfer all my apps, accounts and settings to it.
For whatever reason when I set the phone up (UK exynos version) it does not show any of my devices?
I tried using the smartswitch app from the playstore but it is not available for the oneplus 3 devices?????
Has anyone swapped from a Oneplus 3 or 3t to an S7 Edge successfully and if so would you mind sharing how you did it.?? Thanks.

Anyone have an idea.
Because the Os is different the best you can do is to back up the apps using a program like titanium pro or system tuner pro on your phone. Then copy the back upped directory to your computer.
Download back up program you used to your phone, then recopy the directory on to your new phone.
then download the app and go to your back up program and click restore data.
you cannot use the apps as configured on your oneplus because the file structure and the way it is used is different from the OS used on samsung.
The best you can hope for is the data is transferred to your new phone.
So theres a port of Note 8 Live messages feature working on S8. Im FAIRLY certain its working on s7 edge but I cant get the 3 required apks to install. I get the familiar "package name conflict" error. This is supposed to happen but can be resolved by disabling secure startup, reboot then quickly install the apps. I still cant install them.
Im hoping someone has a tip to make them install...
But Id also appreciate confirmation that the Live messaging feature actually works. Thanks
I have a galaxy s7 edge, and I did manage to get the apks to install (I had secure startup toggled off, and toggled it on before restarting and quickly installing). However, when I try to use live messages, the app crashes whenever I hit "done" after drawing a message, rather than successfully attaching and sending the message. Not sure if this is a unique issue to my device, or if these apks really only work for the galaxy s8.
No no no. I guess it is missing some files
I have a S7 Edge, and I successfully installed all 3 apk's designed for the S8. The live message loads up, but when I tap done, it crashes. I'm sure it's because of the fact that live message was designed for android 7.1, the version that the note 8 came with out of the box. Right now, 14/02/18, the S7 Edge is stuck on 7.0. Although it's believed that Samsung is testing 7.1 or might update right to 8.0 for the S7 Edge. Hopefully, the update will support the live message better.
:fingers-crossed:
Has anybody got this live message working with the s7 edge yet? The android oreo update has been around so maybe worth a check if somebody has it installed?
These apk work on my galaxy a7 2016 (except for the neural keyboard) live messages work even on the standard keyboard. Just update it to the most current version and you're done. I think it will work fine on s7.

It installs but only comes up on neural keyboard. However it just crashes and does not send
I just picked up a Samsung Gear Fit 2 while it was on sale to give the Android smart watch experience a try! I was able to download the Samsung Gear app from the Play Store, but unfortunately, I get an error when I try to open the app that says:
Notice
The operating system on your phone has been modified in an unauthorized way, and is not compatible with the Samsung Gear app. Check your operating system and try again.
After searching online for some fixes, some people seemed to have varying levels of success with modifying the build.prop file? A lot of people still had issues then connecting with the Gear device, or with things like the IR blaster being disabled when the manufacturer was changed in the build.prop file.
I'm currently using the MIUI 8 ROM.
Has anyone had success with getting the Samsung Gear app to work with a custom ROM? And if so, what was the fix?
