Hi,
I've been using a Nexus 4 since 3.5 years and suddenly one day the phone started to misbehave. It started showing the charging sign without being connected to the charger and the next day it wasn't charging above 20%.
It isn't switching on now.
When I connect it with the charger, for a few seconds a very dim green led blinks and then goes off.
Sometimes the charging sign does show up but within a few minutes it goes off.
Once or twice I don't know how I reached the boot screen and came across the 'Android is optimizing' thing but the phone again switched off around optimizing app 150 of 173.
I purchased a new original battery from the LG service center but it also didn't help.
The reply I got from the service center was that they're unable to understand the issue with my phone.
Also,
I've noticed that the green led brightens up when I press the cable too hard but then automatically goes off or dims.
Please help me with this issue.
Thanks in advance.

This morning after charging it overnight my phone suddely wouldn't start anymore. I've read a lot of threads where the phone just shows a red blinking led when inserting power. Mine doesn't show anything when I plug it in to ac/usb. However when I push the power button the red light shows after about 30 seconds and keeps blinking for as long as I keep power button pushes.
I already opened up the back panel and dis/reconnected the battery, doesnt work.
I tried charging for several hours but this doesn't seem to work either.
I have a desktop dock and upon placing my phone the dock indicates my phone is connected to it (blue light on dock) but it doesn't do anything even if I leave it in there for a few hours. I bought my phone at a reseller in the netherlands because it isn't sold here. What to do now?
Mine did that and it took being plugged in for a good 15 minutes before it did anything, even then it turned on then immediately turned itself off. I had to wait an hour before it would turn on and stay on. The entire time with a blinking red light.
Problem is, it does not(!) blink at all when it's on usb/ac. It's been on ac for hours now and nothing happens. When I press power after 30 seconds it starts blinking for as long as I have the button pushed.. strange but true. Anyway.. I'll just leave it charging for 24 hours or so..
Also try another ac charger, USB wont supply enough power to get it going I dont think, and maybe there is something wrong with your home charger...
Thanks for the advice. I just switched my ac charger but it doesn't seem to make much of a difference (yet).. I'll keep you posted!

I had the same problem with you ! could you turn on your phone now?
I just couldn't figure it out so I just packaged it and I'm sending it off to the repair service later today... It should be back in 10 workdays.. lucky for me I still have my Galaxy Nexus
About a month ago, my nexus 4 battery was acting weird. The device would just turn off and when i looked at the battery app, it would just show the battery being drained then showing it at the regular percent when it booted back up. Eventually it just died and wouldnt turn back on and when i plugged it in it showed the solid red light. Nothing I did made it change from a solid red light so i ordered a new battery for it. So now I order a battery and switch them out. It shows the charging animation and when I go to turn it on it says google for a second then the red light flashes once then shows the charging animation. No matter how long i have it plugged in, it will not turn on. I can hold the volume down button while turning it on and it goes to that menu and doesnt die/restart, but if i choose any of the options then it will do it for a second then die, showing the charging animation. I had stock everything and never rooted it. Any help would be super awesome and thank you for your time in trying to help me out.
Send it back to LG for warranty. You don't mention if the old battery was tested or not. My girlfriend's old Galaxy S1 stopped charging. We ordered a 2nd battery and external charger for it for under $20. My guess was that something in the circuitry of the USB port was shot since it also would no longer sync through USB. But she was out of warranty.
Since the N4 hasn't been out for a year yet then it is still under warranty - I'd say this is the time to use it.
Hi guys,
Before anyone says anything, I have already searched google/xda for this issue and found the common fix for the red light issue which involves opening up the phone.
However, before I go about performing an open heart surgery on my phone I just want to confirm that it is the same issue and hence I have made this thread.
So here's the story:
Last night my phone gave me the 15% warning but I was too damn sleepy to plug in my phone so I just slept. Next morning I wake up and plug it in only to find the blinking red light. I left it in for an hour and removed it to find it incredibly warmer than normal and of course, it still was not coming on.
So I unplugged it and replugged it into the charger. This time the red light blinked twice and then the white battery sign came up. Only difference is that now a fully charged white battery sign keeps blinking (no red light anymore). When I try to turn it on it reaches the Google Logo before shutting down again.
Would like advice on if I should go about opening up my phone (I prefer not to obviously) or just charge it for 8 or so hours before taking any further action.
Thanks in Advance
EDIT:
I used http://forums.androidcentral.com/google-nexus-4/312151-solved-nexus-4-wont-turn-charge.html and was able to boot into bootloader mode however, it still doesn't go past the google logo when I select the 'Start' option.
EDIT 2:
Revived phone using above. Close thread.
Exactly as the title states. Phone is plugged in, endless flashing green light - for hours. Phone was nearly charged when it suddenly stopped working. Occasionally it allows recovery screen and I select start.
When it does turn proceed to boot up, Google logo for about 3 seconds, then back to off.
Battery just replaced days ago.
Wut?
I left the phone on charge last night, I vaguely remember it being around 30-40%, I took it off charge around 7 hours later to find it was not turning on, but the notification LED was red.
I saw online somewhere that I had to hold the volume down button with the power button for around 10 seconds, I did this and the only thing that happened was the red LED notification disappeared.
Now the phone seems completely unresponsive. No light when I try to charge it. Nothing on the display screen either.
I've checked the basics and the cable and charger work perfectly fine.
Thanks.
You should go to a service. It's the full decharge issue which seen on some Note 8's and i guess you are facing with it on your S8.
