Galaxy s6 edge today's update - Galaxy S6 Edge General

Samsung pushes out September security patch for the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge in Europe today. if you’d like to see if it’s ready for your device simply follow these steps: Settings » About Device » Software Update » Update Now.

Yep got this pushed to my S6 and S7 Edges - wonder is its some battery related panic not like Samsung and I wasn't even on WIFI when on both handsets got the install pop up

Did you guys already notice an improvement or degradation in battery consumption? Cause I don't want to install an Update, just to have less battery than before.

Battery life as been heavily degradated. In my case, when full charged to 100% and right after I disconnect the phone, it goes from 100 to 97% in just 5 minutes

How old is your phone? Maybe it's just the normal wearing of the battery.

It's 8 months old, and I know it's a software issue because with the previous build (August security updates) the battery life was amazing, this one (September) is a total cr**.

My wife has the 6 edge, and now her handset doesn't recognise her Samsung charger as a "fast" charger anymore since this last update.
She also says the battery life is worse.

Check battery options and go all the way down. There you can turn fast charging on and off. But if I were you, I'd leave it turned off. It will definitly wear your battery faster and the benefits to charging it a bit faster are neglegible to me at least.

Definitely! I was impressed myself, especially since I came from an iPhone that had a depressing 1400mAh battery. In the time it took for one full discharge on my S5, I would have needed to do 1.5-2 charges on my iPhone

Getting outstanding battery life on my g900a. Once someone figures out root for it and i get greenify working properly it should be even better.
Siting at 8H 25M 11S on Battery. AT&T S5. The thing that is killing my battery the most, Gear Fit Manager at a19% then Android at 16% and Screen at 14%. I have only charged 2 times so far since I bought the phone on Sunday, Ran it down to 9-10% yesterday but it took forever to charge. In over two hours of charge time it went from 10% to 37%. My iPhone 5 would have been 100% or close to it. Never had android phone before (really enjoying it) so not sure if this is normal or it will get faster the more charging cycles.
Thanks

There seems to be a lot of variability out of the box. Mine has always had mediocre battery performance, even with no additional apps installed. I should have exchanged it when j had the chance, but I thought an update might fix it. Disabling this and that can make small improvements, but nothing I do has ever made it outstanding. There are some with great battery performance but I personally believe that with the exception of a few horrible apps (like facebook) there's only so much a user can do to influence battery for US devices. Either you have a good one, or you don't.

Rom with the best battery life

Hi guys,
From your experience, which rom is providing the best battery life so far? I've got my S7 for a week now and not really impressed with its battery.
Thinking of rooting to be able to monitor wavelocks and hopefully improve this so your feedback would be very helpful!
Thanks
Sent from my SM-G930F using XDA-Developers mobile app
There is no straight answer to this, every rom has its own pro's and cons.
This also determines on your on personal usage, e.g number of apps, backround services , wifi....etc.
I personally use Echoe Rom, it is the best i have used in terms of performance and battery. Brilliant Developer , with faster than lighting updates.
Try out a few and test , see what suits you.

I just registered on their forum, waiting to be approved. From the youtube video I saw, it looks quite nice. It was in another language but lots of eye candy for the initial install. If you register, they suggest using your xda username as well so they can look you up I guess. I am looking forward to trying this rom though. Thanks again for the suggestion.
For the Exynos version, try the stock G935FXXU1APC8 (for Edge) or G930FXXU1APC8 (for regular S7) rom, that it the best for battery life.

I've tried all most roms and currently on. Echoe and to. Be fair there isn't much in any over stock

You can only achieve a long sot time by watching videos.

It's amazing how much we actually use our phones in a given day, especially when we watch "videos"! Rate this thread to express how many hours of screen-on time you can get on the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 before depleting the battery.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!

After applying disable package? what is that?
After a couple of days, minimal packages disabled, Screen brightness average 75% (half the time 50, half at 100%), Resolution at Max, video enhance On, gps on a little, Hotspot on for about an hour, Bluetooth controller/mouse/keyboard on for about an hour. Pretty impressed! I'm going to disable LOTS tomorrow and see how much better I can get. One thing I noticed, I barely had AOD on today, but yesterday had like 8%, hope they can fix that. Nearly 10% of my battery for AOD is CRAZY!
