I have been using this for a while and now w/ the new radio needing a "primer program" this works great for me!
Now that we all have built in GPS, I would like to introduce you to what I use to start my GPS. I open Navizon, turn on my wifi, and pause till it is open. Then I open my mapping ap (I like Live Search).
Navizon gets started quickly with the cell tower and wifi access point triangulation, and then gets the gps chip going quickly; so live search is ready to go by the time I get in a destination.
Navizon:
http://www.navizon.com
Navizon is a wireless positioning system that works a little bit like a GPS, except it uses Cellular Towers and Wifi access points instead of satellites. In addition to being a wireless position system, Navizon offers features like the Directions, Buddy finder, Geotags and more...
This software relies on a community of users who contribute data to the system (WiFi and Cellular towers) when they have a GPS device. And the cool thing is that we can earn money doing it with the Navizon reward system:
http://www.navizon.com/navizon_rewards.asp
I'm already using it and you could make money too with it if you're interested. All you need is to install it on your phone and have Navizon connected to your GPS. Every Wifi access points that you pass, every cell tower that you log will mean money in your pocket.
So now that we have a phone that is compatible with Navizon, you should really check it out.

If you like the wifi positioning by itself - you can cash in your first $20 payout for the full version, after that it gets popped into your paypal account, and if you turn your friends onto it you can get a little extra too!
In fact, hey birthday boy, Mike (wideawake), why not put a link to this in the help ppcgeeks thread, I bet it would generate a bit of "mad money"!
UPDATE: This is no longer relevant - uncheck load at startup in settings...(edit - I do have one nitpick w/ this ap though; I have to go and delete the ap from the windows/startup folder all the time - I don't need it to start at boot for cryin' out loud! - eh I should make a mortscript to delete it at closing the ap or something..)

Anyone like this, hate this, already use it, I personaly realy like it. I had tried it over a year ago when I had a 6700 and no bluetooth, and didn't have good accuracy, but no programatic problems. Now, I use it everytime I go anywhere at all new, I'm kind of addicted!
Over 350 views, and no responces? Does everyone already use it?
I installed it and kept it running to see how long it would take to drain the battery. My battery went from 97% charged to a low battery warning in about 5.5 hours. That was with the screen turned off, too. The GPS, Wifi, and cellular radio were all enabled during this period.
This app (or, more accurately: the way it uses your hardware) sucks your battery dry, so be sure to have a charger handy.

5.5 hours? you are VERY lucky. it pulled my mogul from 90% to warning about about an hour.
JD
Krap Sakes, it's not for walkin around on a reg basis - the WiFi on the mogul will suck the battery dry quicker than a $20 ho when you give 'er a $50!
(think about it...)
I rarely use it except when I'm driving and plugged in. I might go ahead if I knew I was walking in a prime spot, but to walk around for 5+ hours Navizoning, I would want a car battery! Same as wardriving, it's on the heavier side of what our moguls can do, but it can, so we do!
If I was going to walk with it I might actually consider one of those "Solar Cell" hat things...
I've earned about $80 to my paypal so far just running this on my mogul since I first heard about it...

I signed up under the post obove me, maybe this could become a pyramid scheme...
But after using for a day have found when with wifi, gps & evdo network with verizon the battery drain is crazy. I think the battery gauge even went down while plugged into my hadsfree kit in the car.
Try going into the wifi card settings (start/settings/connections/wireless lan/power settings tab) and set the slider to either the middle setting (what I use) or best battery. Then in the power settings of Navizon and check 'let Navizon manage power', then set the slider to the middle setting. For best power savings you could also set your backlight settings lower (I do this sometimes, not always).
That works pretty well for me, the car charger still makes the power bar go up!
Good luck, and post back your results...
I did both of those setting today and it worked good.
Did find one problem, i removed my handset from the car cradle to use outside the coar for a call that lasted about ten minutes then when i replaced the phone the charging light came on blinking not solid and the battery just kept dropping. After doing some reading found out that phone charging did thermal shutdown because of heat and would not charge battery untill it cooled down.
Seems the wifi, gps and phone call all at same time really start to heat things up.
Especially if you have it it the hot sun i.e. on your dash.
I try to make sure I don't have anything else open as well, the more open, the more battery used.
i installed this today and cant get the program to run without a fatal error
im running DCD 3.0.1 and everytime i try to start the service it crashes and will not give a detail description on the error as i have the free version

i just got my first reward today, used it to upgrade to the premium version for free. thankfully im on a campus that has a couple thousand routers, and no one else smart enough to use this program, so all are mine for the taking...
Aside from the money aspect, its just kinda fun and addicting, to walk around see how many u can get
ENJOY!!
after having so much trouble trying to get the program to run correctly and having major battery drain after installing the program i removed it and dont expect to be going back
I've had great results so far. Just one day's use and over 1000 points. I found that it seems to pick up more in residential areas.
Also for anyone thinking of signing up, share the love.

Must have just missed your post yesterday. Do you have .netcf 3.5 installed? did you soft reset after install before running it the first time? these are the most commeon reasons for errors. personally I would have tried a reinstall. However it's not going to be for everyone. hit me up if you want more help.

i have ran the sync multiple times and i have uninstalled and reinstalled the program multiple times and still get the same error
Hi all,
in the past couple of days I have experienced extreme battery drain on my HTC Legend. It's got stock rom and nothing else modified except ADW
- It can lose most of it's battery in a couple of hours
- Yesterday I pulled it out of my pocket and it was SCORCHING hot
- Today it was drained in same way and I checked the battery >settings>About Phone>Battery>Battery Usage and it showd Display to 97% even though the screen had been off for most of the time.
This hasn't happened before and started sometime after the recent issues with Market. Don't think this has anything to do with it, but perhaps one of the apps instaled/updated around this time?
* The network usage is not showing any abnormal traffic
* Perhaps it's the SwitchPro Widget casing problems?
* ADW?

Your phone draining in 2 hours is possible , mainly by keeping every app active while having wife/gps and bt on. But this still should not result in a scorching hot casing , hotter then normal maybe ,but not scorching.
Might wanna do as he said and go after the warranty ( hope you got a backup phone) it tends to take a while before you get it back if ever and not recieve a new one.
Good luck!

It's done it again. Before I can turn it in, I figure I can just do a factory reset and start from scratch. That's what they are going to do anyways.
Here in Norway, we are by law getting 5 year warranty on our phones and it's the shops responsibility to find the EXACT cause of the malfunction. If they can't, you get a new phone (just a new ruling http://www.vg.no/dinepenger/artikkel.php?artid=10042336 where an iPhone owner got a new phone because the shop couldn't prove it's not the owners direct fault). If I turn it in, they are also by law required to supply me with a phone with equal functionality within 7 days. Ie. a smartphone for a smartphone. I'm also covered by Idiot-insurance (I'm an idiot, I drop my phone in toilets, lakes, from a car window...etc.) so I'm covered no matter what.
BUT I don't want there to be any thing wrong with the Legend. Is there any app which can show me which apps are "open" or consuming power?
It's also turned off and rebooted by itself without any user input.
Battery Monitor for info, Battery Details to prevent overcharging.

Sounds like a dodgy app that you installed around the time the problems started.. If you can remember what you installed I'd start there, otherwise.. Go for the factory reset..

That's awesome. In Australia, the carrier isn't obligated to provide you with a warranty that's the length of your contract. So for example a few years ago I was paying a handset contract for a phone that was already dead.
They also aren't obligated to provide you with a phone when yours is getting repaired, and to get your handset replaced it needs to be sent away for repairs three-to-six times before they'll admit it's faulty. Most people just end up "upgrading" their contracts to a more expensive one to get a new handset rather than spend six months with a semi-broken phone.
Anyway, did the factory reset work?
Okay I've always had a concern of having my phone stolen and the data in it being used for nefarious purposes (i.e. someone buys with my google account). Well not that worried but its a thought. So after 6 months of cursing blur and trying to get rid of it I thought I would try out the "Locate my phone" with it.
Logged into my blur account and yep there is my phone (phone number isn't recongised), but when I try the "locate my phone" feature it just ends up searching and never finding. Not sure if this is a carrier issue (I brought an unlocked phone from the UK and I live in Australia, my carrier does not support the Milestone 2), but just wondering if anyone else has trialed this.
I had a go at lookout but kept force closing for some reason, and I figured if Blur did what I needed, no need to pay for Lookout.
I used the motoblur apps when I first got the phone just to see what they were like...
But I quickly got rid of them as the phone was running so slow and chuggy for a 1GHz and battery life was atrocious.
As for the locate my phone feature, you would have to leave GPS on all the time yeah?...the amount of apps and Google apps that can keep track of your movements if of more concern to me than tracking the phone if ever lost (I've never lost a phone to date, touch wood!)
Sent from my Milestone 2 using XDA app
I had tried to use the feature to test that if it works, but even if I enabled GPS, the web page was keeping finding my tombstone and resulted in failure. Maybe it was caused by the position I'm in (you know China's GFW always blocks some normal internet requests). Anyway, since then, I turned to pay attention to my bags instead of trusting in blur. And I should remind you that any thief who got your phone will pull out your battery at once and therefore any app can not work.
Sent from my Milestone 2
I'm not overly sure they would always pull the battery, if I was a theif I would pull the info on the phone first that way to grab details about the customer to onsell. Also be interested incase I left my phone at work (on my charger) and panicked when I got home.
I gave up on it, and tried Seekdroid, works great, only a $1. I have no issue with being tracked by my phone, I figured that they could do it from cell towers anyway (did install the app that access the tracking data out of interest). My life is so dull that I cannot see a reason why anyone would care for that info (they would find out the bus route to work and home again mainly)
MotoBlur Works for me.
Blur works fine for me. At least in South America, I tested the locate my phone feature and it worked flawlessly. I heard seekdroid is another great app for finding your phone as well.
Motoblur is a piece of crap, it only exists to slow down the device.

Got one of these a few weeks ago and so far:
Runs like a dream, considering it's size
Will run all the apps I have installed on it so far.
Will not let me put an SDcard in that is 32GB or 16GB will only work with the bundled 8GB card. So I assume this might be formatted differently (have not checked)
Cannot get GPS to work! Perhaps it is not using a standard "western GPS chip"?
Camera is ok, but no zoom and you have to put your wrist down otherwise you take a picture of your hand.
MAJOR ISSUE ! Battery Power ! Says it can work for 24 hours with light use. Ha Ha Ha Ha what a load of BS. Lucky if you get 7 - 8 hours out of the battery with 3G working (Skype and FB apps running in the background, no GPS on, no BT on and no WIFI on)
That is about it so far if anyone has any other info I would be glad to read, because there is didly squat online about this watch/phone
More details.

I was pleasently surprised to find an 8GB SD card already there. That plus the 8GB built in storage (4.88GB of which is usable) leaves you with enough storage for your apps and music. Videos too if you're interested in watching on a teeni tiiny screen. It has a certain buzz to it. Lol. Also, it had a screen protector on it.
Another awesome feature that I found was that it has a BT notification app so you can sync it with your watch to receive notifications on it from your phone and basically use it as android wear which is what some imacwear users are dying for.
OK so I might have been quick to "diss" the battery power. Today the W9 has been going for 14 hour 26 mins so far I don't know if this is to do with the fact that the battery needed to "bed down" or because of the fact that I turned the back light to it's minimum setting? Well it is back to a middle setting so we will see what happens And is currently sat at 55% ..... we shall see.
Anyway more info :
The touch display, I would say, misses 5% of my "touching" but I do have problems with my moto g and it's touch screen, so I would say it will probably work for most people 100%.
What has surprised me, is that using a keyboard half the size of a postage stamp with a little finger which fills about 1/4 of the screen is quite accurate! Type the wrong letter, hit delete and then move the little finger to the right or left a millimetre or so and you have the right letter. Although typing like that takes ages. Solution ! Download the google keyboard and download your language of choice "offline version" and use speech to type, seems to work very well apart from the dual core chip working in overtime to keep up.
Back in a few days or hours with some more updates Just got GPS to get working!
OK the battery problem is not due to wifi lol.
If you charge the battery while the phone is on it does not charge properly, or does not charge enough, don't know which?
If you charge the battery in the off state while it "flickers" on and off the animated battery icon, it seems to charge the battery completely(?)
Charged the watch yesterday afternoon, while on and got 6 hours out of watch before it switched off. Charged it last night while in the "off state" and it has currently been running for 14 hours!
So if you want to get a full charge from your watch battery charge it while shutdown

Interesting info!
That's some interesting info on the battery life. Personally I leave the wifi and data connection off so at the end of the day I still have about 60 % battery remaining. I have managed to get the phone rooted and am looking to explore further. I bought the product at everbuying.com for $140. Compared to all the other smart watches this is the best bang for the buck because of the 1 GB ram and 8 GB ROM at such a low price. If you want I can do a video review of it and post it up.
I did install google keyboard and I love the gesture typing but for some reason I can't get the voice input to work. When I go to settings there isn't even an option for voice input in languages and input. I do have the mike button on my keyboard however its not working for some reason. when I click on it nothing happens.
My problem with the battery life is that it may be saying 82% and next minute the battery is dead! If I charge it when switched off I assume the electronics charge the battery but when switched on I assume the software takes over, a does not charge it fully?
Right the reason what you are getting no speech input (recognition) is that you have to be connected online via 3g. The alternative is to download the "offline" voice data.
Settings > Personal > Language & input > Google voice typing > offline speech recognition
When you use this offline it is a little slower (you get the feeling the dual core chip is working it's ass off) but it does work !
Would be interested to know what you used to root the unit?
Also would like to know if you have got the GPS working? (I still have had no luck getting this to work)
Oh and the reason I bought it was for GPS and the 1 GB ram. You try running any apps in 512Mb lol
Haha. True. I had the imacwear m7 and it would get laggy at times. I haven't tested the GPS yet but I wanna download offline maps for it like sygic or here maps.
Also, I dont have a "google voice typong " option in language and input.
I used kingoroot to root it and it was done in less then 5 mins.
I have 2 questions. 1. Have you got any lockscreen watch faces to work other then the stock ones? I have tried watchmaker but its not really good. Also, is there a way to leave the backlight on permanently? I realise that will kill my battery in a few hours but I just think it will be cool for the watch to show at all times.
2. Have you managed to connect it to your smartphone for reminders and notifications etc through the the btremind app? I can't seem to find the apk for the server on the phone side.
First, GPS finally got it working
It would probably have worked out of the box but could have taken 15 mins or more to do a satellite lock.
How to fix :
http : / / www . chinasmartphonereview . com / fix-gps-problems/
(With out spaces)
I now start to get a lock in around 10 seconds for the first sat and around 30 seconds for 5 when outside.
Inside forget it! Through a window forget it!
Now I have a satnav on my wrist

1) Sorry no but I assume you would have to root the device before being able to do this? And I don't want to do that yet. Plus I like the one that looks like an old digital watch
2) No I have not tried the btremind app, as I wanted the watch to be an independent comms device. Have you had a look through the watch storage (as yours is rooted) and spotted anything there?

I would say yes with a few limitations......
1) Screen is small but everything I have "thrown" at it so far works. Firefox,Mx player,Skype, Advance task manager, Navigator (Free), Facebook App, Google translate (Offline), Google voice search, speech recog (offline a little slow) GPS tools etc etc
2) Typing on the screen is "doable" but slow, get yourself a mini Bluetooth keyboard and you are away....
3) Battery! Battery is the only problem. Mine seems to have a mind of its own. Charge it one day and it will last over 24 hours, charge it another day and it lasts 6 hours????? Still not worked this one out but finding more and more about this device every day.
4) You do look like **** Tracy when using the phone, look him up on youtube if you don't know what I am on about.
Hope that helps

Not too much.
Do you think I can use this watch for these operations?
Thank you very much and apologize for any inconvenience
how to connect this watch
I bought this watch for its feature set and elegant design. I found the identical watch from a number of different vendors at widely varying prices. No one offered any real support and the specified companion reminder program does not exist. I have tried every bluetooth reminder app on playstore and have found only two that actually work. It seems that the software in this watch is actually from unova. One clue is that the help program is from unova. The playstore unova ironman bt reminder program works with this watch when installed on my s4. The only other program I could make work is swapapp when installed on both the phone and watch. I still have a few issues with the watch, but overall, its a fine piece of hardware. I'm looking forward to learning from other user expieriences.
Using this watch just basically would get you through the day I believe if you keep it on 2g and keep the GPS off. I really love this thing and would recommend it to one and all.
Thanks so much for telling me how to connect the watch to the phone. I tried unova and it does work.
I keep trying to push this watch's limits. I played angry birds go racing on it without a hitch. Gonna try NFS most wanted next

Do you think I can use this watch for these operations?
Thank you very much and apologize for any inconvenience

Your English is better than mine and I am from England lol
You will not have any problem doing what you want above. Also you probably would not need a BT Headset as speech to the watch is good and sound from the watch is a good volume, you might just have to turn the CD player down
If you want to know how well the watch performs read the comment by qasimala Need for speed on a watch lol !!!! Let me know how it goes qasimala
This watch continues to surprise me! Need for speed is working super smooth! I'll upload a video when I'm near a WiFi hotspot sometime. I use the watch for a few things mainly. I record lessons in class, listen to music on an earpiece which I bought together with the watch, I use it for working out (installed the madbarz app and it works like a wonder), I take the occasional picture or video without anyone noticing and whenever I'm bored and don't have access to my phone, I play games on it. Just got the idea to install here maps on it. I think it'll be really good because it gives you turn by turn directions offline which will probably increase the battery life on navigation quite a bit. Will let you guys know how it works out.
Last night I got one of those cheap Chinese smartwatches for $40 locally. (Amazon seems to have some for $20 at amzn.to/2qpSftK) Yeah I know, I know, but I work at a job that is anal about cell phones (a major gripe of mine the way places can be that way) and I need to know if my child's ride at school doesn't show up or if school lets out early due to a power outage etc, if that happens then I HAVE to pause what I'm doing and make a call or two to make pickup arrangements or else it's a legal issue of child abandonment. Such may only happen 2-3 times an entire school year, but it has happened a few times--my mother-in-law's battery was dead and she was running late, or she couldn't find her keys etc--in such cases I had to track down someone locally and get them to step-in, last minute.
Thus, I need a smartwatch which can relay calls which have come in so I can see them and it also needs to push SMS messages and let me reply to them, that way without even pulling my phone out of my pocket I will know if this has occurred (and can quickly reply to SMS) but I can otherwise keep my phone in my pocket knowing beyond any shadow of a doubt that if a call or SMS has come in, this watch WILL pick it up and I WILL be able to reply to them.
This watch I got, it is fine with relaying phone calls and it even relayed the audio from a YouTube video I was watching on the phone itself, but it WILL NOT WORK with relaying SMS. At first it did, such requires installing a "BT Notifier" on the phone (which is the best?) but even then it was hit or miss, and then it just stopped. I've done EVERYTHING in terms of different BT Notifier apps, I even scanned the "OCR Code" or whatever to point to the BT Notifier specific to that model (it appears to be a GT08 type, with the "fan" style of icons, menu/phone on the bottom left and names/text on the right, this YouTube video Ksy0pd-12BI shows one like it), I set that app up--no matter, IT WILL NOT push SMS to this smartwatch, no way/no how.
Is this a common occurrence with such smartwatches? Is this a case of that I'm going to have to just accept this model CANNOT handle SMS no matter what and get something else, vs being able to actually fix this? One model I had read good things about in an article (BIT and 2lTVoxg) called the OUMAX Bluetooth Smart Watch S6 for around $50, this model looked like a good one because it downplays "fitness" features I do not at all need and instead stresses pushing smartphone notifications and being able to replay to them, which is what I DO need. I started to get it on Amazon but then it would've required several days to get here and I need something up & running quickly but without spending $250. Maybe I should've just gotten that and waited?
Tips in general?
If anyone has any tips please do reply, I am only say this because I have an update but that doesn't mean I am not still looking for help.
I've somehow got it working just fine, no timing out of connectivity or any such thing. I had saved the downloaded BT Notifier .apk file from the app it referenced in the barcode I scanned, and I tried again but this time I disabled an app I've used on the phone for a long time--NoLED, which displays a moving dot on the LCD when notifications arrive, making it unnecessary to "wake up" the phone to see missed calls etc. I've used that app for forever, it's a long-time staple of mine, but I wondered if it was possibly interfering with this process.
I'm not sure if that is the case, but since disabling it (but also turning the watch off and letting it charge to full overnight) it's working great today. I possibly could get beyond that eventually but for now I'll take it, I mean having a smartwatch does somewhat make it less necessary anyway. The only issue now--the band, it won't attach and it's apparently a permanent part of the watch's structure, not easily swapped out. I'm not sure how I'll get around that, maybe stitching another watch band on top of it using a sewing kit?
Ultimate Fix: Watch-Specific App/Disable/Install 3rd Party
I'm somewhat disappointed in the lack of replies. Is this because this watch is now perhaps an older model, or what is the reason?
In any case, I now have the ultimate fix.
It's 3 things:
(1) Install the watch-specific app by scanning the QR code and "sideloading" the app
(2) "Force Stop" this app in Google settings but DO NOT uninstall it, leave it installed.
(3) Install the 3rd party app by "Shenznen Fan Yun Technology Co, Ltd" (green background, white circle with exclamation point) then under the "Accessibility" enable the second "BT Notifications" entry, leave the 1st one at OFF
When I got this watch, the first thing I did was download that 3rd party app, it worked some but not consistently, then it totally stopped. I then stumbled across the QR code in the watch, scanned it, installed that app, and that worked--but that app was FULL of adware, constantly bugging me to install this app or that, launching a new tab and page in my Chrome browser, and just being a total pain. I was glad the watch worked, but hated that behavior--so much I disabled the app, figuring I'd just have to re-enable it when the watch was being used.
On a hunch, eager to try again, with the watch-specific app still disabled, I downloaded the 3rd party "Shenznen Fan Yun Technology Co, Ltd" app and, just totally guessing, under "accessibility" enabled the 2nd entry (both entries have identical names so you can't tell which is which), but didn't uninstall the watch-specific app only because I figured that I would end up having to revert back to it anyway.
To my surprise, this has worked. It seems to require me turning the watch off and connecting through the watch initially, but however I get a connection and the SMS message log on the phone populates on the watch, at that point it is stable and reliable from that point on. I had it running today all-day and was receiving texts and the inbox was coming up reliably.
I hope this helps somebody. (Note: this watch is still being sold as eBay item #381686066028.)
