Moto X Style VoLTE Support India - RJio - X Style (Pure) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting
Dear Moto X Style users,
I have written a mail to Motorola as well as Lenovo. Email addresses are listed below:

Here is the content of the email:
Respected Motorola/Lenovo Team,
I am a big fan of Motorola products. I prebooked Moto X Style on the very moment it's pre-booking window opened on flipkart.
It is a 2015 flagship of motorola. We have very high expectations from it. We were happy to see Marshmallow update rolling out for our device very soon after its release.
Currently in India RJio is occupying the market with its free 4G and VoLTE services. But unfortunately on our Moto X Style RJio internet disconnects very frequently and and we are unable to surf internet. Also there is no VoLTE support.
We were shocked when we heard that Moto X Play received VoLTE update in May 2016. However your flagship device of 2015 didn't receive the update.
We didn't said anything earlier because we were hoping that VoLTE update will roll out soon for Moto X Style too. But no it didn't.
We love Motorola devices but if you don't provide updates and support on your flagship devices in long run then what's the point of buying such devices.
Please look into this matter.
PS: Every smartphone manufacturer nowadays including Motorola and Lenovo is providing smartphones with VoLTE support even with price tag below Rs. 10000.
Regards,
Mehul Boricha
If possible do email Motorola and Lenovo to bring this issue to light. I have also shared it on Facebook and Twitter. Let's all share and post this issue so that we can enjoy RJio or any other 4g seamlessly on our Moto X Style.

Not the X though... the Moto Z and G4 will by the end of the year (not October).
http://www.droid-life.com/2016/09/27/moto-z-moto-g4-nougat-update-release-date-q4/
Pretty much like last years announcement about Marshmallow... it was a warm up before dropping a few sets from the upgrade channels, honestly it could be the same for us. I find it more and more likely that the Moto X Style/Pure, Moto G 2015, Moto G Turbo, and Moto E 2nd gen will not get Nougat.

U did say that g4 and z is getting N but the source says that x style/pure will get update but not as early as g4 nd z series
I do believe that it will get N because we can see that CM 14 for pure is quite developing very good. ... And also the process is upto mark.... And also with the update volte support shud be supported......

Better read that article your referencing again... it is a classic fluff article, no references and a lot of speculation and opinion based on the exact same article I am referencing, in fact it looks like they copy and pasted half of it. Their references are just the generic Moto software update page which has no information on Nougat at all.
My point is, if you have been around Moto for a while, this is a classic statement by them and exactly what happened last year with Marshmallow... they stated that some models would take longer due to performance or compatibility concerns, and then they said "oh, sorry, guess not" ... And yet we know all those devices worked fine with Marshmallow, they did get it via CM13 and other ROMs.
The fact that an aftermarket ROM works, doesn't mean anything about what the manufacturer does officially.
I hope I'm wrong... but I'm not getting my hopes up.
Received a call from Motorola Support. He told me that there is no problem with the device. It is the problem with Jio and it may not be compatible with Moto X Style and told me to contact Jio customer care.
I explained him that this issue is only happening with Moto X Style on other devices it is working fine but he won't listen. After talking to support I don't think they are going to provide any further official support to Moto X Style or any other previous smartphones. Neither VoLTE nor Android N.
Very disappointed.
Any custom roms for moto x style which supports volte
Sent from my XT1572 using XDA-Developers mobile app
Most of custom roms support VoLTE but not Jio's VoLTE. Don't know why they require separate update.
Guys as we all have lost Hopes so hereby i ask a question that is there any rom which already has volte support and also ,v4a preinstalled??
enable volte using sortcut master
Can someone try using shortcut master to see they can enable volte for reference

I already created a thread about Jio connectivity issue, Reposting the issue here as all the replies in this thread are from Jio users. Is the signal drops and reconnects every few minutes? Is there any mods/upgrades/downgrades will settle the issue?

yes i do face the same problem, signal drops and reconnects every few mins . (Full stock brand new phone). I dint find anything that solves it.
i was equally shocket to find out that VOLTE support is not available yet on X Style for Jio. I had recommended this phone to a friend and she bought it to utilise Jio. Now she has to route the calls throug h JioVoice app. Data is working but with some disconnections. Not the case with my Moto X play?
Why should people pay premium for such phones when ultimately the company is to dump them. This is not a classic motorola. its a classic chinese Lenovo.

Good day to you Sir/Madam!
Motorola has released a patch/update for VoLTE feature for 'Moto X Play' but they have ignored the 'Moto X Style' for the same. 'Moto X Style' is one of the premium smartphones released in 2015 beside ' Moto X Force' and is easily eligible to receive the same VoLTE patch/update as it also has higher specifications and features.
We in India are unable to use VoLTE features offered by Reliance JIO network without this VoLTE feature update from Motorola for this device.
So, as you have able to provide VoLTE for Moto X Play, we also request you to provide the same VoLTE feature update/patch for the Moto X Style.
If this is never going to happen for this device in future also, please provide an update for us.
Your's Sincerely,
Abhishek G.

This guy sounds like typical Chinese lenovo.
He means sd808 doesn't support volte. We should probably tell them to check the specs again for the chooser and also tell them that in countries like US volte is available on this Device.

Hello Mototola Support Team!
But the Moto X Style has a Qualcom Snapdragon 808 processor(MSM8992) and it is clearly mentioned on the Qualcomm.com site

that it supports Next-generation calling services like 'Wi-Fi calling with LTE call continuity and HD Voice over 3G and VoLTE'.
So, on what technical limitations are you trying to say that Moto X Style does not support VOLTE ?
Please enlighten us with a valid reason.

Google gives them the source code for the update early and then its the OEM's job to ensure that the update is built and is stable. That is the reason why I quoted that particular line in the first place.
OK this is my last reply,,.. For your reference there is one more article from arstechnica.com http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2015...gle-play-edition-program-it-was-already-dead/ Some extracts 1. GPe phones were just as much for the benefit of OEMs as they were for developers and Android fans. Google developed the OS and the apps and actually delivered the updates to the phones, but each one of them required OEMs to supply the kernel and support the underlying hardware (including hardware-specific features that were available on some GPe phones but not others) 2.The program didn't exactly start strong, and it doesn't help that Google has spent the last two years making unique “stock” Android versions of devices mostly unnecessary I can be wrong ,,,tell me

Motorola E3 problem.
I have a problem that I'm asking for help and support, as this is a question and answer forum. I made a post a few days ago that the moderator decided to delete because people questioned the legitimacy of my problem. Unfortunately, I have now had the same problem a second time. I ask that someone please give me some advice and support rather than try to say my problem is a fabrication, made up or a lie. 13/01/2017 I received notification from Motorola that a 22mb OTA security update was available. At the time, my device, a Motorola E3 XT1700 which was running system version S124 android 6.0, was ROOTED with TWRP, and was running various modifications such as Android N-ify and Pixel style nav bars. I was puzzled I had an OTA update, I assumed being rooted removed that event happening, but I duly downloaded this update but as I had TWRP I could not flash the downloaded update. I used "flash fire" from Google play to install the Update. Installation went quite slowly with my device rebooting around 6 times. I saw a new materialistic style boot animation and my device rebooted into android. It quickly ran into serious issues with messages of every single Google app force closing, including Google now launcher and Gboard. I had to skip the initial set up which I noticed was no different to normal. I managed to get into settings and my build number and kernel versions were all the same as before. The only difference I saw was my system version had gone from S124 to S131 and the android version was 7.0, but 7.0 is not available for this device. The device kept force closing and rebooting every 2 minutes. I had to contact a Motorola representative here in UK and they agreed to collect my device for examination and repair, but warned I would be liable for the cost. We did argue over this, and eventually two days later, Motorola agreed to pay for the repairs as they said I had suffered "An exploitation" due to being rooted. My device had been "reflashed" but I would no longer be able to receive any OTA updates. They also told me there would be no android 7 for this device, but if I wanted to flash a custom ROM when one becomes available, that was up to me. I also asked if I could flash a back up from an E3 power to my E3 if it went wrong again, they replied I could not because the E3 and E3 power are different devices and the firmware wasn't compatible with each other. I do not know what any of that means. Please help me to understand it. 21/01/2017 My device was returned two days ago, but the same thing has happened today. Another 22mb update, but this time, my system version is going from S131 to S135 and my device has gone from an E3 XT1700 to E3 power XT1706. The E3 is a European / American version where as the E3 power is exclusive to India and Asia. The power is not available here in UK. I have no reason to lie about this, and have provided screenshots from my device. Please help me understand why this keeps happening? That's all I want to know, how has my device became something else, a totally different model number? How can I get another OTA update if Motorola have switched the function off and told me my new reflashed firmware has all the available updates? Please will you help me understand this rather than accuse me of making things up or not abiding to the spirit of XDA by telling lies? I have a genuine problem and fault with my device and want answers, not people calling me a liar. I have already posted this on the Motorola Google plus community, where I explained I'm 16 years old, and when asking for support in my previous post here about this problem, it was deleted by the moderator for questioning its validity.......
I have since found out on Motorola's own forums this is a dodgy update that if installed can cause severe problems. Many uses are advising not to flash this update. I sorta already knew that. Several users on Google plus pointed out to me they use XDA and have seen this problem talked about in the forums. Someone directed me to Motorola's OWN forum where users are telling others to not download or flash this 22mb update because it breaks things!!!!
Finally, I want to share proof of my problem by showing the forum some photos and screenshots from my device. For information purposes, let me list the difference between the 2 E3 models. XT1700-E3 for Europe and continental USA Single SIM 1GB ram 8 GB internal storage XT1706-E3 POWER exclusive to India and Asia Dual SIM dual stand by 2GB ram 16 GB internal storage Now Look at the photos of my own devices box and packaging. My device is a Motorola Moto E3 XT1700. It has one SIM slot. It has 1gb of ram It has an 8gb internal storage. After applying the update in question, in my about phone settings, my device is listed as a Motorola Moto E3 power XT1706. I now have some blanked out settings for 2simcards that were not there before this happened. Proof that something very strange has happened, and most of you think I'm lying. I have several explanations from Motorola now and from users of Google plus as to what and why this has happened, and Motorola have admitted to being at fault in my case. I'm happy with the reply I got from Steve who works at the repair centre who handled my case last week. Let's see what explanations you experts come up with. I know the answer now, this problem was down to three factors, one being human error in the way I applied the update.......But do you know the other 2 reasons? I just wondered if anyone will enlighten me.

MOTO G5 PLUS WiFi Calling Feature enabled, but not Moto Z play or Moto Z lines?
Hello everyone, I have a pretty big question and its directly to those hard working developers that work hard to enhance the android experience. I am aware that the Moto G5 Plus has the Wifi Calling feature enabled with T-Mobile. I'm baffled as to why Moto & T-Mobile can't work together to enable this feature for all Motorola phones. It's not even a question of "cant" but they won't. Anyways I was wondering if there was another way around this. Will it ever be possible for developers to access these OS hooks for Wifi Calling and incorporate it into roms for the Moto Z play? The Moto G plus and Moto Z play have identical hardware and software. Any information would be kindly appreciated!
How do I increase the signal strength of my WiFi in the g5 Plus? I have root .. Is there any way? At 2.4ghz it only connects to 72mb and in 5ghz it only goes up to 150mb. Can it increase? Can you help me?
Will the OnePlus 5 support Snapdragon Voice Activation?
I know the OnePlus 5 will *officially* be released today and should come with more definite information, but I still wanted to ask and see what you guys think. Is this iteration going to support always on voice with Snapdragon Voice Activation? A while ago I was thinking of getting a OnePlus 3T but what I read about always on voice support made me nervous. While it wasn't officially supported, some could get it to work and others couldn't. If Oxygen OS doesn't support the feature on the OnePlus 5, what about Lineage OS? My phone upgrade path in recent years has been Moto X > Moto X 2014 > Nexus 5X (current)... so not being able to utilize the processor's low power voice listening would be a deal breaker for me.
I have a motobz play and this is something I would like to see as well.. Is extremely convenient to be able to say something beyond okay Google to wake my device at any time..
My money will be on, "No."
