Having the same issue, after flashing a custom Android 6 rom I'm now stuck with Marshmallow.
I am not able to adb sideload stock Asus rom, but I can still flash other Android 6 rom without problem

if you stuck on ASUS logo screen, boot twrp once, it would solve this problem.
download stock from asus site, and flash with stock recovery.
twrp didn't support stock firmware.

You got your own boot img from asus zip.. Flash that,
put asus zip to SD card, flash them from stock recovery, can it boot? have you try it?

You can't go in download mode ( power + volume up) the boot in stock recovery how you did with twrp?
If not you can flash the rom bellow with TWRP

When I flashed any custom ROM via TWRP recovery, my device won't run. Its stucked with Fastboot Mode. Even if when I flashed the latest stock firmware with bacttostock.Zip then also its stucked on Fastboot Mode. My device is Asus Zenfone Selfie (ASUS_ZOOUD). If anyone know how to fix it, pls reply. Can't find anywhere. Downloaded full stock image but there is no recovery.img file. Can anyone share zip or img file of recovery?

There's no stock recovery in Mi A1 because there is no recovery partition in Mi A1.

Flash boot img... It will work as recovery too

Can someone help me with bootloop on mi a1? I try to flash new TWRP 3.2 but flash failed and then I got a bootloop when rebooting device. After that I tryed to flash TWRP 3.1.1.0 with fastboot flash recovery nameorecovery.img but instead of recovery being flashed my device boots up and work just fine. Only problem is if I restart the phone then I get bootloop again. I cant flash stock Nougat ROM through Mi Flash Tool because it is not working to me. Can I flash stock ROM again without using Mi Flash Tool and how? I try to do that manually by fastboot commands but every time getting error PARTITION TABLE DOESNT EXIST. I can boot to new recovery twrp 3.2 but cant flash TWRP installer.zip neither with Partition A or B choosen in REBOOT option. What should I do?

Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 Recovery problem

I have tried many times to install twrp and rwrp recovery on Asus Zenfone Max pro m1 but it don't boot into recovery when i installed it through fastboot and instantly i jump into recovery it shows black screen then i restart my phone and jump again to recovery it shows stock recovery i don't know what's the problem can anyone help me.

After flasing the recovery just boot to recovery by giving command fastboot reboot to recovery then wipe data and your problem will be solved
