[GUIDE] How to install Emotion AOSP on T-Mobile N910T/N910T3
I know a lot of you wanted to try Emotion AOSP on our T-Mobile Note 4, but it is not supported currently.
I have been able to flash it successfully to my N910T3 and having no issues what so ever, all works.
Here are the instructions:
1) Download the ROM from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4/snapdragon-dev/rom-aokp-emotroid-team-t3317486
2) Download the gaps from OpenGaps, I prefer pico version.
3) Now you need to open the zip file using 7-Zip and extract following file:
META-INF\com\google\android\update-script
4) Edit the file in any Text Editor and remove the 1st line starting with keyword "assert", if you don't remove this line then you won't be able to flash it your N910T/N910T3.
5) Put the modified update-script back in the zip file using 7-zip.
6) To get the Data/Wifi working you need to download the data fix for N910T from below link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4/snapdragon-dev/marshmallow-6-0-1-ports-data-fixes-t3379978
7) Now this ROM will be ready to flash via recovery as usual like any other ROM.
8) Copy all 3 files to your phone internal/external memory.
9) Flash in below order:
Emotion-trltexx-MM.r21.Official-20160916-200804.zip
open_gapps-arm-6.0-pico-*.zip
LouForgiveNo_N910T_MM_Data_Fix.zip
ROM will take about 10-15 minutes to boot. Then you should be able to setup the phone as per your requirements.
Don't forget to thank @Pafcholini and @louforgiveno for their work.
I couldn't get it to work. Got an error message in TWRP.

That means you missed Step 3-4, it won't work without modifying the update-script file.

Steps 3-4 did confuse me a bit. I did it a few times still no luck.
Once you have the ROM zip file ready, verify the update-script file again, it should NOT contain below line:
assert(getprop("ro.product.device") == "trltexx" || getprop("ro.build.product") == "trltexx" || getprop("ro.product.device") == "trltedt" || getprop("ro.build.product") == "trltedt" || abort("This package is for device: trltexx,trltedt; this device is " + getprop("ro.product.device") + ".");
This line check if you have one of those Note 4 variant.
Or you can do what i did...
Or you can replace all references to other devices with the T-Mobile name. For some reason kept getting code 6 when I removed the line, but when I replaced all the references to other devices worked like a charm. This method still requires you to extract, edit and compress again through 7-Zip.

I tested the phone call immediately after install and it worked for me without issues. So in your case only phone call is not working, what about data and wifi?

Data and wifi work, which is why I did not realize I had problems with the phone. Started receiving voice mails, thought I had the volume down and that wasn't it. Tried calling the house and it just said dialing for 5 minutes. Again, a shame as I liked the ROM, but need the phone to work.
I didn't have to do anything but flash in TWRP. I'm on epg2

Most people are reporting that LiDroid is successful, I can confirm that it works well. I have occasionally encountered errors when installing apps from Play but they are not common or consistent. Note that when installing LiDroid the user may choose English for the language, but beware that the later Customer Service Customization menu selects the data network, thus if you live in China you should choose CHIN and not ENG at this menu. This second menu has no effect on the phones default language.

You don't have to use the Baidu downloader, just press the GREY button BOTH times. =D
As far as how to flash, it's just like any other ROM. FYI, Shohat said he is working on making his version support the 6V so keep an eye out.

It is still working.
The first dialogue box, with a space to enter text, is for the password, though if you enter it once you won't have to subsequent times you visit the page.
If you're not in China, Baidu loads super slow. If it's too slow to download the 1GB file then you'll just have to wait for Shohat's rom next week. Should be better anyways. =D

Your question makes me think you might want to read a bit on what ROM is (don't worry, I don't reallly know either, but we can always learn more), but ultimately yes, this ROM contains some of the Google services not included in the China Unicom version.
Please be careful and understand that this a temporary fix, this ROM is a bit buggy. Keep an eye out for other XDA roms that will work for 9006V models. You will certainly want to flash something new later.
Nice job of putting it all together in one shot. Still haven't quite done it on my phone, but will be doing it soon. Maybe I'll wait for a ROM until the one you mention by Shohat comes along. Really would like if we could get some english developer love too. I know there are things available in chinese, those alone should have like 90% of the work done for those wanting to do a version for english.

I used this post:
http://bbs.gfan.com/android-7340315-1-1.html
BUT:
I think that the only thing that really helped me was having the drivers, which I got through the long way, by installing 豌豆荚 on my computer and it automatically installed drivers. Windows couldn't find them. I've seen the drivers on that forum listed above, so if you don't want to install that app (it is kinda annoying, but helps sideload APKs).
One other thing to note:
I also got really thrown off by one part of the above instructions, to enter CWM after you flash it with Odin you need to press Vol+ + Home + Power, not volume down.

Ok.... for english speakers....
Once you are in CWM recovery after yanking the battery last second and loading recovery on the next boot cycle (or you have to do it all again)... You will be presented with options... crazy options... select the first one, then select the second option (it says some english about install-recovery.sh). This will disable the recovery script that keeps writing samsung's recovery over your fresh CWM. Then I chose the 2nd option again after that, thinking it meant something about rooting the phone. Not sure, but the phone rebooted and everything was fine. CWM still intact.
After that, I installed supersu as linked on the chinese website shown previously. you can see english for ZIP and from there see ext.storage or internal, just point to were you downloaded it and click through to install.
I downloaded a copy of gapps for 4.4.2 and did the same thing as I did for supersu and BAM.... now I have google play and it's working.... Finally the phone i was wanting it to be, at least until a fully english rom becomes available.

I must be missing something here. I finally downloaded this file from the second link, which is called 'Samsung_S5_G9006V.zip'.
I ran Odin v.3.09 to flash this ROM (just like any other ROM), and obviously it doesn't recognise this file, as it's a zip file. So I extracted it to a folder. However, all I get is a lot of folders such as 'data', 'META-INF', 'system', 'tmp', 'tools' and two files 'check_data_app' and 'romconfig.xml'.
Odin also doesn't recognise this, as it's looking for .tar or .md5 or .smd or .gz or .tgz file extensions.
I've tried renaming the original zip file to .tar.md5 but this doesn't work either.
Could you please explain further, or even step-by-step exactly how you are supposed to flash this ROM? What software do I actually need to flash it?

ROMs are .zip and installed via Recovery. You can use ODIN to put recovery on your phone. Clockwork Recovery Mod (CWM), TWRP are both recoveries.
Once recovery is on your phone you can enter it using the volume+ / power / home keys.
If you're still unclear on this process just look at any of the roms in the dev sections, they all include a short how to for installing a rom from recovery.
Thanks ddxv, and sorry for being stupid - all my previous phones I simply flashed from within Windows using ODIN.
So step-by-step guide should be as below?
1. Download Clockwork Recovery Mod (CWM)
2. Download ODIN 3.09
3. Download 'Samsung_S5_G9006V.zip' from your second link
4. Copy 'Samsung_S5_G9006V.zip' to a MicroSD card and place into phone.
5. Reboot phone into Download Mode
6. Start ODIN
7. Click on 'AP' (was 'PDA') and find CWM recovery file
8. click Start
9. Once finished, the 'Pass' message will be displayed.
10. Reboot into recovery mode
11. Choose Wipe Data/factory rest
12. Select install zip from SD card
13. Flash phone
14. Reboot

My VyprVPNs connect but there isn't really any data sent afterwards. My StrongVPN account works occasionally. Neither are as good as on the computer. Make sure you're using PPTP, StrongVPN recommends unchecking the encryption as it's 'buggy' or something.
Also, Liantong/China Unicom in Beijing seems to constantly change connections, which naturally disconnects the VPN.

Yeah, the original rom this is based on was an older / original version of Shohat's rom.
There are now dozens of roms on the chinese sites, no doubt a fairshare are from xda, but probably less buggy than the one you chose
More Roms:
http://bbs.gfan.com/forum-1443-type-10173.html
You can find it here: ftp://fw.ydevices.com/YotaPhone2/Firmwares/RU/
Install either via OTA update if you're already on the 1.87 RU ROM like I am. On my device it first wanted to install the update only, about 67MB, but it failed to install; then the next time I checked for updates after reboot through the settings update menu, it downloaded the full file, about 0,99 GB. Then the update went all the way through. SuperSU is lost on the way, I will try if it still works through the recovery installation.
You can also install through Yotaflasher like it's explained here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3247356
Didn't have time to test things out, but it's still Lollipop 5.0, so only bugfixes and some new yotapanel features I guess.
Enjoy!
Thanks for that muchly dude, hadn't checked that for a while.
Update seems to be stability improvements, power efficiency improvements and some yotamirror and panel improvements and features.
Its not 5.1, but it's an update, I'll take it.
And yeah, super glad moved to the RU ROM. Backing up now, will OTA flash update once that's done. SuperSU has been flashable everytime after an update so far so fingers crossed.
All up and running .
I was rooted, running RU 1.87 with TWRP - phone handled it all just fine - downloaded OTA, pressed install - it went to TWRP > flashed stock recovery back over itself > rebooted and installed.
Phone booted up, all working fine. Lost root - simple reboot and flash the SU.zip had sitting there from the last update. Cache and Dalvik wiped for good measure.
Reboot and all is well and back to normal but with a few improvements, lovely.
About as easy as it's even been done really.
Hope everyone else gets to enjoy the update through similarly smooth procedures .
Yeah, I ended up doing a fresh installation plus rooting, everything smooth. I'm never too sure what an update leaves behind.
It's really a great device, hopefully they'll keep updating things for a while. Of course version 6.0 would be welcomed... Apparently, by the numbering they use, next step would be either 1.2.xx with Android 5.1 or 2.x.xx with 6.0. Let's see.
Fair play, I toyed with idea of it, but was fresh from last install and honestly don't have the time to set everything up again.
My hope is they take all their good ideas from this and can at least join someone else in making a great device.
Saw a working bendy phone the other day, lets you turn pages on reading app by bending corner as you would a book etc. I thought if that could be combined with yota tech, then you have damn near the perfect tablet.
Honestly I don't think we'll get 5.1, let alone 6.0. They're refining their ideas in prep for Yotaphone 3, that and the possible tablet are their main focus right now.
Interestingly, the update flashed it's stock recovery over twrp - someone prepared for the possibility of root owners this time around. So they are still paying attention .
So any idea what's the difference between the EU and the RU rom? I mean there has to be some reason they are two separate roms.
To answer my own question: there isn't too many differences between EU and RU roms. I did a diff between the RU1.1.59 and EU1.1.60, and out of 2092 files, roughly 1900 of the files inside system.img were identical. The APKs were slightly different, but only slightly. So probably the difference comes from some differently named resources.
The RU version also has some additional apps which the EU version does not have, such as Esquire, Questions, Strelka and Vector. These are probably the main reason why they have different ROMs. They might only work in Russia.

FYI the difference is essentially the product package configuration (app bundles that are pre-loaded) but there are also some differences between the resources used for the stock apps. One in particular (my personal fav ) is the dialler - the RU variant includes cyrillic characters regardless of language/locale setting (feature). The EU will give you a regular english-only dialler if you're using english locale settings

version 1.4.3 doesnt works for me so i downloaded the 1.3 as suggested and worked.
then i enabled the download mode following the procedure:
Turn off the phone, then press and hold the volume down key + the power key at the same time. This should boot you into download mode.

EDIT: the answer is NO. it seems that the mandatory part is to unlock the bootloader (the bad part for the warranty.. and that can erase ur data..) and this can be done following this guide How to Install TWRP Recovery on YotaPhone 2 untill point 6 included - which i am reporting here for easy of use.

How to Flash TWRP Recovery on YotaPhone 2
1 - Setup ADB and Fastboot on your Windows PC.
2 - Enable USB debugging from developer options on your YotaPhone 2.
3 - Connect it to PC with a USB cable, if it asks for debugging authorization, permit it.
4 - Go to the folder where you downloaded the TWRP recovery image from the download link above on your PC and open a command window inside that folder by doing “Shift + Right click” on any empty white space inside the folder, then select “Open command window here”.
5 - (Skip this if your bootloader is already unlocked) Now to unlock the bootloader, type in the following command:
└ Beware that unlocking the bootloader may wipe your phone’s data. Make sure to backup first before proceeding.
adb reboot bootloader

Hello guys, I downloaded Lollipop from the ftp but installation fails: no MD5 file found!
I downloaded all russian versions and also the 1.6 EU version... but no way I always get this error.
I'm using TWRP 2.8.5, I guess the last one, and in the tutorials I see this version...
Does anyone know how to solve? :crying:

The info is described in various posts across the yotaphone forum. Are you rooted? If not then there also many many guides across the internet for that.
Not walking you through the whole process, sorry. We all had to learn, once you do it's all much easier.
It happens also to me...don't panic! press Volume up and the power button and when you enter in the bootloader select the downloading options, it will restart the phone with the "downloading" status
in the meanwhile with the yotaflasher select the option to downloads a firmware and try a different one. When the download is finished try to flash once again.

I placed like you the rom downloaded through website in the firmware folder and flash got wrong. I was blocked on "powered by android" logo like you.
After this almost-bricking experience, I flashed 4.4.3 downloaded all through Flasher and phone was working again.
Then I tried to substitute 5.0 system.img in the folder downloaded through Flasher but no way... after flashing phone didn't boot.
I reflashed 4.4.3 back again and now is working.
I think that we can't put files in folder for Yota Flasher...
I cannot download last 5.0 EU version, like described here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/yot...ially-dead-t3312382/post65839167#post65839167

yeah i've done the same.

after my big mistake i have done this:
*i downloaded the last 4.4.3-S01-003-EU1.0.3.61a.zip then i flashed it. reminding to unzip it and put it in the right folder of the flasher. remind that this will delete ur data too prob.
*i checked for update on the phone in setting--> about phone --> sistem update
*it downloaded lollipop (android 5.0 Lollipop - 1Gb to download)
*i took the 5.0.0-RU1.1.99.zip and flashed it
*u can choose english when the phone boot so dont worry about firmware to be RU
*i checked the firmware version doing the combo "Volume up and the power button" (press it while restarting)
*i changed the language of the phone in setting --> language (there is plenty of languages to choose. i choose mine, italian, but sometimes it happens to find something in english )
i downladed some app etc etc but i never used it for calls cause of the requested nano sim that i'm going to take tomorrow probably cause today i get stucked with trouble about my contacts.
hope to solve the problem for pass my contacts form my nokia N8 to yotaphone 2 quickly!

I haven't updated this morning because I was downloading a previous 5.0, the EU 1.44, but when flashing I had error "cannot load firmware/system.img". So I reflashed 4.4.3... I'll try again this evening

Hello! I have 5.0!
After flashing and old version of 4.4.3 (my phone went with a 4.4.something branded Vodafone Italy, and they evidently don't give a fork about updates). With the 4.4.3 rev 1.0.51a I immediately received he update to 1.0.56a: I downloaded the 114MB, rebooted, and then got the update to 1.0.61a, around 63MB. I rebooted and then got finally the update to 5.0, 1GB
I have only one problem now: the device doesn't recognize when I'm looking at the ink screen, and power button powers on the amoled... Even unlocking through swiping from bottom to top doesn't work. Option is correctly set, I tried to uncheck, reboot, wipe cache and check the option again but it not working well yet.

seems that is the same for a lot of people if not everyone..
cause of this problem i am using this app gravity screen on/off.
it halves the problem cause now i have no problem for the amoled. and for problem i mean use the pwer button instead of simply swipe.
for the e-ink panel i still have to use the power button, only way it works.

Another update pull failed verification and resulted in another footer error. If installed without any modification it works, but after rooting and pulling the update.zip, trying to install it results in an error. It could be a security measure introduced to the update.zip to prevent installing on a phone without the matching signature assigned during the initial download.
Whenever i tried to follow the link it asked me for a security key ????

I read on another nougat beta thread that if you get a footer error then you should decrypt your SD and try agian

I did not have my SD Card encrypted. I have also noticed some discrepancies between the update.zip I am extracting and the working VZW update.zip. Things like: the boot.img is 0kb, and there are missing CERT.RSA, CERT.SF, or MANIFEST.MF files under META-INF folder.
I have tried extracting it in several different ways\environments and get problems with every pull.
Other variants are working on the same thing with the same issues. I have the last pull I made, but I can't continue working on this as heavily since I'm using my daily driver. I'll try again as new info\solutions come up.
Seems like getting root (with current methods) may be disturbing the file structure. There may be something else at play here since all the pulls still come with a boot.img that is 0kb, and are missing CERT.RSA, CERT.SF, or MANIFEST.MF files under META-INF folder.
Here is the link to the WIP update.zip. I'm going to stop working on this until someone can suggest a better way to root or pull the file without it coming out corrupt\incomplete. Good luck!

Thanks @jrkruse for finding this method!
1. reboot to download mode (power + volume up +home) and make sure phone says Official under system and binary.
2. If it does not then you must odin the PH1 firmware, use the pit file and the full csc not the home csc file
3. go through setup
4. enable developer options
5. turn OEM unlock off
6. enable USB debugging
7. place Update.zip on Ext sd card in folder named fota
8. power off phone
9. reboot to download mode make sure both system and binary are official.
10. reboot to recovery (Power + volume down + home)
11. choose apply Update.zip from SD card
12. find Update.zip in the fota folder you created on your Ext sdcard
13. click yes to apply
After this it should update to the Android 7.0 beta and hopefully will be able to download future beta OTAs.
You will not lose anything as this is an OTA
You do not want to be rooted. You must be stock for this to work!
There is no gear VR available on the beta.

This is for the SM-G930P regular S7 (not edge). I have pulled it via filemanager app after full root, and via adb on linux and windows after eng kernel root and full root. All of them yielded an apropriately sized update.zip, but it seems to get corrupted during the rooting or extraction process.
Also, there may be a reason behind our update.zip not having a boot.img. We may not need a new boot.img after updating to PJ2, so it isnt packaged in our update. If someone can repackage the update.zip so it passes verification we may have more luck.
Some users of Moto G (falcon) Dual Sim version [XT1033] are having problem with getting the Dual Sim working and some are having no network at all after installing Cyanogenmod 12/13/14/14.1 (either official or unofficial). While some of the users have the network but the SMS not working.
So here's a fix for all the network related problems specifically for the dual sim version XT1033.:silly:
It flashes the CM12/CM13/CM14/CM14.1 compatible essential network related files "fsg" and "NON-HLOS" and then clears the cache partition.
Do reply to this thread if this helps you along with ROM details.
Instructions:
Reboot the phone into bootloader mode. There are several ways to do this, but most common is:
Unplug the USB cable and power off the phone.
Press and hold 'Volume down' then power on the phone.
Connect the device to the computer using USB cable.
Download the zip file : DOWNLOAD
Extract the zip anywhere on your PC and you will get a file named "XT1033 CM14.1 Dual Sim Network Fix.exe"
Run the "XT1033 CM14.1 Dual Sim Network Fix.exe" by double clicking it and press any key to start the process.
Wait, your device will now reboot.
Tip: You might have to wait 4-5 minutes after the reboot to get network on both the SIMs, this happens only first time.
Disclaimer:
Follow these instructions at your own risk. If something goes wrong don't blame me!
Do NOT use it on any model other than XT1033!
I have only tested this on ASIA Retail Moto G with an unlocked bootloader, however as this fix is having original stock files from Motorola it should work on all dual sim XT1033.
Tested on:
CM12 (tested by inspire428)
CM13 (by me)
CM14 (by me)
CM14.1 (by me)

Well, exe and bat files are the only way you can execute a program on your computer.
Most of the windows tools made for android are exe.
Moreover, this is compiled so as to make things easier for a newbie: There's a single compressed file,no need to think which file to click ,no need to create folders and extract several files.
A single program takes care of all things.
And you can always scan it with any Antivirus,if you're so skeptical.

a few more lines to be exact.
as it erases the modems for both the sims after flashing (it's a standard procedure for flashing network files)(you might not know the procedure that's why you said 3 line batch file) and then another line to reboot the fone.
Also as I explained earlier, there's only single file to work with.
If an exe saves the time and confusion for a newbie, then why not?

I don't see anyone else working on 8.0.0 for this phone lol. Or if they are, they're doing it incognito.
If I have to work alone, I can make progress on my own. I'm helping to give people a base to go off of.
Check this out in lineage thread.

I've seen his work and looked into it before posting this. There were a quite a few mistakes in some of the files so I didn't touch them. And I don't see any reference to any of their work on xda. They may be working towards something completely different that is just lineage based. Until I can speak with them myself to verify the purpose, I would rather not use their project.

I actually know one person working incognito mode. He'll only release it when he's ready. If you want to talk to him, drop by my inbox.

I've just tried to install it on kiw-l21 and twrp gives me error 7, it can't find device model (twrp returns . for some reason).

Well that's a bit expected since it's not released yet publicly.

I've figured, but also, I tried to do dirty flash over xenonhd so that was the reason probably
Anyway, by removing asserts from updater script, installed in twrp and got stuck on honor logo.

We're seeing some movements, we may get O in 3 months.
Because it builds as lineage-kiwi twrp has to be updated to support it
Does this error 7 mean it will not install using twrp or other recoveries as well? Has anyone gotten this to install?

Error 7 comes from assert in update script. Just remove it for flash.
Chinnu:
Try to remove the first line starting with assert and then flash it.
Do this.
Extract zip . Goto META-INF/com/google/Android/undater-script. Remove the first line in updater script and save the file. Repack the zip and flash
Remove this line
assert(getprop("ro.product.device") == "kiwi" || getprop("ro.build.product") == "kiwi" || abort("E3004: This package is for device: kiwi; this device is " + getprop("ro.product.device") + ".");

Have you done this with success? @culler mentions getting stuck on the honor logo even with removing asserts. I currently am on stock 6.0 so I wouldn't be installing over a custom rom.

It was needed updated on every other device I've seen 8.0.0 on. Removing lines from an update script tells it to skip a step that is probably needed. And to wonder why it bootloops lol. Don't try flashing files that you know nothing about, that is how phones get bricked or bootloader viruses.
