What is format of SD Card? What is format of songs. I have a large amount of music on removable SD card and music app sees it all. Try exploring music and select a song on removable card to play. should open player, which might help.
I also have this issue and more..

I have the keyboard and the sd card is using the standard 32bit format. music is in the media folder copied from my hts desire, same as pictures and movies.
All of which work on the desire but are not visable through any of the default installed apps, I have also installed various free apps which again do not show the files.
I can play them seperatly via file explorer and they play properly but do not stay in the history.
Contacted Asus who suggested that I clear the apps cache via settinges/ applications etc.
Tried that several times including reboot before opening apps and no joy.
Also having the issues with google maps downloaded and cached maps. only work on internal memory.
Not rooted yet but depending on these issues will either root or return.
The media services will only recognize internal memory and /mnt/sdcard.
You have to move any music/videos/pictures manually into internal memory or sd card.
The Music app and gallery find the stuff on my Micro SD without a problem.

Mp3 not showing up on mircoSD card

I have a 64gig micro SD card and placed music and movie files on there. For a day it worked fine..I was able to play music via samsungs music player and PlayerPro app. Now for whatever reason my phone does not see mp3 on my microSD card. I can still however play movies from my sdcard. Anyone have a similar experience?
I don't think the card is going bad as I can still play movies from it. I think it might be a setting issue.
Quick update. I can navigate to my SD card using My Files app and play the files but the stock music player or 3rd party music player cannot view the files.
Ended up reformatting and restoring sd card. Its a bit annoying since the phone was able to read the sd card still.. just the apps was not able to see whats on there.

Why sd card?

Sd card whats the point if most app/games are install internal memory. No option for adapted storage, the hack seems to do more harm than good. Whe i download a big game. Even when i transfer file to sd, most memory stay in internal. I see almost no use for it

Why this thread if you have no use of a SD Card?
SD cards are not just for game storage, people keep their personal videos and pictures on them and like the ability to swap between devices and take their pictures and videos along.

I've exhausted my internal storage with apps and app data so I wouldn't be able to take pictures and video if it weren't for the SD card. I also store movies and TV shows for areas where I have no data. I can also pop in my Phantom 3's micro SD Card and view it's 2K footage.
I've got a 200GB which I used the hack to adopt... No troubles at all. I would much rather have this setup than no expansion path and just 64GB onboard.

Any apps that should NOT-

be transferred to a micro SD card?
Personally, I transferred Facebook & Facebook Messenger to my SanDisk 200gig micro SD card and after doing so I clicked on my Facebook icon and my S7 Edge glitched & stuttered for a second and then went directly into boot loop. Even though I read online these two apps can be migrated to the SD card with the S7, and my phone easily made & recognized the transfer, something wasn't happy afterward.
Anyone else have similar experiences?

I personally don't transfer anything to SD card. It is slower than the internal memory. My SD card is for storage purposes only

So when you say Storage, you would be talking strictly photos, videos, music?
I ask because I am totally new to Android as well as having a SD card in a phone (having come from the iPhone world).
Thanks.

Yeah when I mean storage, literally EVERYTHING ELSE that isn't an app. Music, videos, pictures, documents, file back ups, pdfs, zip files to flash. It all goes on my SD card. Built in phone storage is for apps I download and whatever it stores in cache etc. I do have Spotify download offline playlist to my SD card as well. Any app that has it's own built in option to store downloaded data to the SD card, I'll do. There aren't many and it is normally just backups (SMS Backup Restore for example can back up all your texts and call log to external sd card).

Play music from SD

I've read a few threads here, but cannot find an answer.
Is there any way for Google Play on my S8 to play my music off my sd card? I have about 80gb stored on my sd card, and don't want to load it into the phone.
If not, is there any music player app that does? I've been reading so many blogs/threads with no joy! Thanks
Using Samsung Music for playing from SD card without issues.
as above or my personal favourite player is "PlayerPro" just make playlists from your SD card contents
Play music plays off the SD card on my device. I have it set to downloaded only.
