Google Allo makes ugly noises - OnePlus 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I have installed the latests CM 14 by grarak.
Since yesterday i'm trying tu use Google Allo. But it makes loud and ugly noises whenever I send or receive chat massages.
I already tried to reinstall the app, did wipe the caches. But the sound remains.
Does anybody have an idea to look for the cause of this problem?
Thanks!

Wow, that was a quick answer! Thanks!
Do you have any idea what causes this sound glitch?
Am I the only one?
But may be with the next complete wipe it will be gone...

Believe me, all is fine with your phone-ROM-combi
These sound should be...
Go into settings and deactivate it

But, but, but I'd like to know why!
Maybe sometimes I have to accept things the way they are...
Thanks!

Me too have same problem.

Google Allo also does this on cm14+ roms on OnePlus One. I think that it's missing a sound file or something at the rom level.

me too,annoying

Same problem over here...
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=70357443&postcount=2099

I had the same problems with cm. But now I'm on dirty unicorns without these problems

Same problem on RR ROM. Doesn't happen on stock ROM.

[Q] Whatsapp notifications even when muted?

I put my phone in silent/mute mode (using quick settings) every night, but it never stops Whatsapp notifications sounding. Does anyone know how/why Whatsapp notifications bypass the mute setting?
Somebody posted a similar problem in another thread. Maybe it was you.
Anyway, use a standard notification sound that came with the rom you're using. The guy (or girl) said that using a custom notification sound causes the problem.
Thanks, but i already use a standard notification sound
???
I don't know. I rarely set my phone on silent.
I tried myself and it seems that it doesn't work for me either. What rom are you using?

That's interesting - do you mean you also get disturbed by Whatsapp notifications even when in silent mode?
I'm running Phoenix ROM v10.2 (Android 4.4.2).
Yes. So I think it's a whatsapp related. I use a custom ringtone.
I'm using a GPE rom

Headphone Fix [5.0]

There is currently an issue on all lollipop ROMs pertaining to headsets that do not have microphones. When such a headphone is plugged in it either triggers a continuous loop of Google search prompts or a multitude of random screen touches. If you use headphones or any 3.5mm compliant headphone jack device, you may want to flash this till it is fixed from source.

IT WORKED!!!!!! THANK YOU SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH !!!!:good::laugh::highfive:
Cheers, also, why didn't you put it in themes & apps?
Noob
Sorry but how is the easiest way to flash this zip.
If I try with the defaut recovery from Cyanogen it gives me the E:No signature E:Verification failed errors.
And this recovery does not have the option to disable this check.
If I install another recovery may I loose the auto update feature from Cyanogen?
Thanks!

Well I thought it being a fix and all, that it wouldn't classify as an app or theme.

You can use ES file explorer or winrar on your desktop to extract the file inside of the zip. After which you can use es file explorer to manually copy paste the file to your system partition and then assign appropriate permissions.

I had the issue where plugging the headphones in launched the google voice search, but with this fix the icons on the homescreen get a white square behind them (guessing it's touchscreen issues). Any work around for this?
This is great, thanks!
However, anyone else now having issues with the YouTube app's play/pause buttons and seekbar not disappearing in fullscreen, or is it just me?

Seems to be a general issue, I will look into it asap.

This should not happen, as this fixes both the Google voice issue as well as the white box issue. Are you using a headset with a mic or a standard headphone?

May I have the model of the headphones/3.5 mm compliant device you are using. Have you tried flashings newer version of your ROM and manually pushing the file, as I think the is theost likely issue.

This is re-creatable usually through pausing a video and changing the quality (to 720p or above?) and doesn't seem to happen when not using headphones. Apologies for the lack of specifics, it's a bit finicky. Have since flashed two newer nightlies and still present.
EDIT - this can be temporarily fixable by turning the screen off and on again a few times...

Yeah it can be fixed by turning off the screen but it seems to just show up again when you go to watch another video, anyway I am testing a fix and so far it seems to be OK, I will upload it if everything is good

Ah amazing! Thanks again for your hard work
So, anyone tried this or know if it's even necessary in CM12.1?
I must admit I've flashed this fix on the last few nightlies without checking first if the bug is still present as I've seen nothing about it in the CM changelog.
For anyone who cares, this is still necessary with CM12.1...

No, it's not. I used CM12.1 (RR 5.4.5) and a pair of headphones without a microphone and never had this issue.

It doesn't affect ALL headphones, it never has. Still affects my non-microphone Shures that work on stock, after a full wipe and fresh install of CM12.1.
I'm still unsure if this is necessary, I have still not flashed a stock lollipop ftf and have the need to use this on newer cm based firmware's. I shall flash Lollipop and verify whether it is necessary.

Control media with volume keys on Nougat?

Hey everyone,
I have finally switched over to Nougat from MM and managed to get most of the functionality (Xposed alternatives) in some shape or form on Nougat.
I am however missing a decent way of controlling media tracks using long volume buttons (Xposed allowed doing it easily).
I tried Pocket Skip Track app and it is a little buggy and does not work everytime. I also tried making a Tasker profile following some of the guides, but am unable to trigger it always (whenever the headphones are plugged in)
Does anybody have a solution for this or perhaps there is a ROM that has this feature?
Apart from that I am quite happy with the upgrade.
I'd like a solution to that problem as well.
So far only superman rom have this wonderful feature i try all apps on playstore but they are all buggy...thanks Luca to make this
migrated to Superman ROM for this feature now. For some reason it was not working straight away but eventually started working and now all is good.
This works for me

Music player seems to crash and forget Shuffle and Repeat. Anyone else?

The stock music player seems to crash periodically or something is happening where it forgets that Shuffle and Repeat were selected.
Is anyone else experiencing this and does anyone have a workaround?
Thanks,
Etienne66
I have a workaround that is way too obvious. Try another player. I really recommend Poweramp (ability to output 192khz 24 bit) or shuttle.

Personally I do not care for solutions that add advertisements or cost money when the built in application should work properly. However a better alternative would have been VLC. It is free and has no advertisements. I'll give that a try, but I would still like the developers to resolve the issue or at least put it on their todo list.
My main goal was to see if anyone else is experiencing this problem and to see about opening a bug report so that it might be addressed someday. I just don't know if it is limited to the klte branch or if it affects other phones. I was hoping to see how big the issue is. It hasn't worked correctly for years.
Thanks,
Etienne66
I ended up making Google Play Music my default instead of the Android Music. I still prefer Android Music. But oh well...

Certainly. I am rooted. I am running LinageOS version: 14.1-20170426-NIGHTLY-klte. However the problem has persisted since CM12. I had an older Galaxy S3 with I think CM10, that did not have the problem, but that was a long time ago. If you want a log with the problem, I can probably produce that.
I did wipe the phone before going from CM13 to Lineage and I did not restore from backup since I saw warnings against doing that with Titanium Backup.
Thanks,

To be honest. I have never tried the Stock Rom, but I would not think that Samsung would use the Android Music Player. I am currently using Google Play Music instead of the Android Music Player, but I have the widget on my desktop and every time that I see the shuffle and play all un-selected, I select them again. Usually within a few hours they are un-selected again.
I thought about trying the stock ROM, but from what I have seen it is Android 6.0. I guess I will give it a whirl though. Any recommendations on where to download a stock ROM?
Thanks,
Etienne66

yeah, to me, it doesnt sound like its worth the trouble. Id just try different aftermarket music players and stick with what you like the best. The nice thing about your problem, is that there isnt a shortage of music players to choose from, even free ones without ads. Have you tried viper?

Device is rooted? You updated firmware using Samsung Updates in Android version page in config?
Cleaned Cache/Data From music App?
If yes, try to use a other Music App And test.

I am not using Samsung Updates at all. Yes, I'm rooted. I am running LineageOS 14.1-20170426-NIGHTLY-klte. I've been experiencing the problem since CM12. When I upgraded from CM13 to LineageOS 14.1 I wiped my phone including data and then installed clean.

I do, and it is very annoying, it is also presented when writing with the keyboard, when recording a video and using the camera.

I do not know if it's a phone problem or not, but it does not make sense to think it's a phone problem because flickering only occurs in the circumstances I mentioned earlier.

No, I'm using "Gboard" and "launcher" that comes by default on the phone.
But in the same way the camera also blinks when using it.
I have the security patch for March.
I have noticed it too. And not just between switching apps. It happens while browsing media streaming apps also.
I booted my phone in safe mode and the problem was solved.
I still can't figure out which app is causing this.
