Reboot to bootloader and flash twrp using fastboot.
Code:
fastboot flash recovery file_name_here.img
This is assuming you are unlock and ha e check OEM unlocking in dev. Options

If your bootloader is already unlocked, just boot into fastboot and flash TWRP.

forgot to put it in OEM Unlock.

yes it is already unlocked previously. i just did a new clean wipe for the phone and flashed the mtc19x factory image
Try this:
fastboot oem device-info
It will confirm if it is unlocked...
Also try to boot twrp by:
fastboot boot recovery_name.img
Both commands will confirm the same.

B20_Boot to B20 with NO TWRP?

Hello a7 users!
I currently have an A2107U on B20_boot.. I went from b20 to b20_Boot via DrakenFx's method of flashing the update in stock recovery, but seeing as there is way more support for stock b20 getting root, twrp, and xposed.. I wanted to go to b20 or even b27 so I would be able to get root, twrp, and xposed running on the phone.
Oddly enough, when in fastboot, I get the message that my bootloader is still locked. Yet I had oem unlocking on pre-flashing Draken's unlock method.. But I am now on B20_boot lol..
I have looked around in several threads, but it seems all methods require TWRP.. Could anyone point me in the right direction of where to look? Perhaps the eye doctors I have have been missing a thread that adresses this exact issue?:good:
At the moment, the only way to go from B20_Boot to B20 or B27 is to flash files via TWRP. Since you're on B20_Boot, you can just unlock your bootloader and flash TWRP, or you can use tenfar's tool to flash TWRP without unlocking the bootloader.

Hey man, thank you for your response.
In order for me to unlock bootloader, I just need to do "
OEM Unlock" in adb?
then flash recovery with adb?

Yes, boot the phone into bootloader and on your computer, type in "fastboot oem unlock", then a bootloader unlock warning should pop-up on your phone. Select Yes and it'll unlock.
Then you can flash TWRP from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/axon-7/development/a2017u-twrp-3-0-2-0-touch-recovery-zte-t3439603

I soft bricked my phone

I wanted to unlock the bootloader and flash a custom rom, but I followed the wrong guide. I am or was running A2017U build 27 but I followed a guide for A2017G, here https://forum.xda-developers.com/axon-7/how-to/guide-install-twrp-unlock-bl-flash-t3517379.
My phone is stuck at the ZTE logo screen and will not proceed despite using TWRP to flash the backup image. Am I screwed?

If you still able to boot to TWRP, I recommend you flashing my B29 Bootstack + StockSystem from here : B29 Files Click Here , then you can flah Stock Recovery you'll be up and running again, i'll be uploading TWRP Flashable B29 recovery Here is the Stock Recovery Flashable Zip CLICK HERE ... YOU CAN UNLOCK using B20 Official ZIP + B20fastboot.zip (Official).
So here Steps:
1- Flash B29 Bootstack + StockSystem
2- Flash Stock Recovery
3- You'll have you device back and running
DrakenFX, thank you. Flashing the bootstack and stocksystem got me in working order. $20 coming your way as promised. Don't drink and flash folks. Lesson learned.

you don't have to man, i'm just glad i'm here to help other. send me you hangouts via PM , i'll help you getting Unlock Bootloader before N get here,
Thanks I appreciate that.
***EDIT*** This was caused by the fastboot I had on my PC. Rebooting into Linux and using that fastboot worked fine.
I was able to downgrade to B20, however, flashing your P996A01B20Fastboot_ssl.zip file did not allow me to unlock the bootloader. After rebooting, going into the bootloader menu, and running "fastboot oem unlock" does nothing nor does "fastboot devices" see any device. Do you have any ideas why it is not working?
To be clear, when I ran the P996A01B20Fastboot_ssl.zip from stock recovery it said,
"script succeeded: result was [1.0000000] Install from SD card complete."

Flashing original firmware

Hi, Can somebody tell me if its necessary to unlock the bootloader before flashing the official firmware. My device is not rooted and has a locked bootloader but as I wanted to flash the original firmware to refresh it, I was wondering if I can do it without unlocking the bootloader.
Thanks in advance.
Check this thread for EDL Mode https://forum.xda-developers.com/an.../guide-how-to-reboot-to-edl-fastboot-t3394292. Reboot to EDL Mode and flash using MI Flash Tool. This flashing not reuqires bootloader unlock.

Sorry but that is not correct, the A1 uses just fastboot, we don't use EDL.
Anyway just follow this guide
http://en.miui.com/thread-807252-1-1.html
You just need to install miFlash or use fastboot commands if your more advanced, reboot to bootloader

use reflash tutorial from this site:
HTML:
https://xiaomifirmware.com/roms/download-official-roms-xiaomi-mi-a1/
. Just download tool, extract, then exctract downloaded rom in this tool folder. Conect A1 in fastboot and start flash_all_lock.bat file in folder with room (I used flash_all.bat). This is how I fixed my bootlops...
You need to reflash. There's no other way.
Did you have the original stock Oreo with January security patch?
I would also like to re-lock the bootloader but now I have read your post I am unsure if its safe.
Use this command in adb
fastboot oem relock (your unlock code if needed)

Maybe
I didn't try it but it may brick your phone
Developers should make clear that Re-locking the bootloader is not as easy as the unlock process and there is a high risk you will brick your phone.
