Tether or root/tether on PG1? - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions & Answers

So reading through the forums, I'm having issues figuring out what works with what.
The phone I have is on PG1. Am I able to activate hotspot without rooting? If not, can I root and get tether without tripping knox/voiding the warranty? And if so, could I possibly get a link to the directions?
All help is greatly appreciated

I'm rooted and still not helping.

Yes i was able to activate PG1 wifi Hotspot without root after i flash stock PG1 with Odin. Yes i was able to activate Hotspot after root with out tripping knox. How to root and how to activate Hotspot are posted. Down load stocked PG1 so you can flash it with Odin .... here free registration

[Q] Is there a way to install Xposed w/out triggering the root check on VZW VS980?

I want to keep my LG G2 VS980 on Verizon on the stock ROM. I know you can install hacks or patches for the hotspot to work without Verizon's approval without doing a full root.
I was reading about how to root and the guide I found says that the phone has a switch so Verizon can tell if you've rooted which voids your warranty. The guide I was reading also mentioned that the G2 can be placed in a special mode that give ADB root without flipping this switch. Would I be able to install the hotspot patch and other apps such as Xposed using this special ADB mode without tripping the root check and going full root?
If I could install the hotspot patch, Xposed, and AdBlock Plus in the system without having to trip the root check that would be great.

4.4.2 kernal 3.4.0 Foxfi no longer works - Root?

Foxfi use to work, now it hows icons as if it is working, foxfi and hotspot, but if a machine is lucky enough to see it, it won't connect.
Any fixes or easy rooting for device? Tried Kingo and failed to root

[Q] Root without losing data?

Is it possible to root my Lollipop G900V without losing my data? I tried Towelroot as suggested in the stickied how-to thread (which really should be updated to indicate that Towelroot will not work on any Lollipop devices), which of course didn't work.
Other suggestions look like they require wiping data before flashing something. I was wondering if it would be possible to gain root without a wipe.
The end result I'm looking for is to be able to use native tethering so that Llama can turn on my wi-fi hotspot when my bluetooth connects to my car's Android headunit.
Thanks!

I don't think there's a way to install root on Lollipop without downgrading to KitKat yet, and you will need to wipe as it won't boot after the stock tar is installed. So to answer your question, as of now there is no way to root without a wiipe if you're on stock Lollipop.

Anyone have Wi-Fi Calling working on Verizon with a rooted MM ROM?

The important points:
I'm currently on full stock PG2 straight from verizon . My Wi-Fi calling works great, the phone runs quickly, I don't have Wi-Fi hotspot. I did this after giving up on a rooted rom as outlined below.
I'm on a grandfathered Verizon unlimited LTE data plan. My S5 has served me quite well and I really like it, if I can get everything to work it would be the perfect phone for me.
I would like to run a rooted, debloated, stock Marshmallow ROM for speed and most importantly for native Wi-Fi hotspot.
Equally as important, I would like to have advanced calling enabled for Wi-Fi calling on my verizon number
I searched but didn't find a solid answer. I can try going back to rooted PG2 and asking for a PRL update as mentioned here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-galaxy-s5/help/advanced-calling-wifi-calling-wont-t3411741 I wanted to get confirmation of someone that has it working first before I spend all the time going through the downgrade/root/unlock/flash process again.
My phone has a 15 Samsung eMMC. I began on stock PB1 and rooted according to:
Working Root Method For 5.0 Lollipop Roms [OE1] [OG5] [OK3] [PB1] 11-4-16] by @jrkruse

HD video calling was working on stock PB1 and continued working after root.
Then unlocked the bootloader and loaded the PG2 unlocked bootloader according to method 1:
[GUIDE] Unlocking the Galaxys S5 Bootloader using DEV Bootloader [KK-MM] by @GeTex
http://forum.xda-developers.com/ver...t/rd-unlocking-galaxys-s5-bootloader-t3337909
Then flashed the PG2 rooted ROM provided by GeTex:

Advanced Calling would try to activate (I removed it from my account via the website and re-added it from the advanced calling item in settings on my phone) but it would never activate after a reboot. It just goes back to telling me I can activate it and it's already on my account and turn off my phone and turn it back on. I tried booting with no SIM card and then putting it back in. Eventually I decided that I wanted to be sure it would work so I flashed the full stock PG2 using verizon upgrade assistant on my computer. Advanced calling immediately activated when the phone was set up but now obviously I no longer have root or native wifi hotspot.
Maybe the best choice is to leave the stock rom without root and use another option (FoxFi?) to enable wifi tethering?
Help and advice is greatly appreciated! I'm still a bit of a newb.

Can anyone with a G950W/G950U find the tcpdump binary?

The stock firmware includes a binary called tcpdump that runs as root. It is *somewhat* hidden in the stock FW, so I feel Samsung may have forgot about updating it, and I'd like to have a go at trying to exploit it. Problem is, I updated my phone to Pie and didn't realize there was no root method for it, and I'd rather not try to downgrade because Odin flashing seems very flaky.
Can anyone with root access find it in their phone?
