Depends on what model s4 they have. Just look in the thread for you specific model on how to root and what ROMs are available

TextNow uses the L720T (TriBand) model. I know BC I have one lol. I rooted simply by flashing TWRP 3.0.2.0 for "jfltespr" off TeamWin's site via ODIN, then proceeding to flash the SuperSU zip inside recovery. However, word of the wise, if you're using TextNow Wireless, don't change the ROM!! You will lose the connection between TextNow and Sprint, meaning you'll have 2 different numbers and it messes stuff up. Fun fact in case you didn't know, TextNow S4s are SIM unlocked (GSM will not work in United States, CDMA will though):good:

(q) mk2 aosp

I just recently rooted my Samsung galaxy s4.i purchased it the other day and it's running MK2 I was able to use safe root to do so. I also have safe boot installed as a recovery. My question is, how can I install aosp roms? I couldn't find any information on this. The only roms safe boot supports is stock. Where do I go from here? I am new to s4 so please be nice. Thank you so much.
You can't

Its to bad you didn't get the S4 back when it was released or earlier last summer when it was shipping with MDL firmware. This firmware allowed us to use loki and install any custom rom we want, including pure kitkat. Maybe you can trade your new one for an MDL one.
Well. ... Is there a way that I could downgrade my firmware and root from there?

I wish you could. Devices running MF3 firmware or higher blew an eFuse when they upgraded from MDL firmware. There is no way back. AT&T and Samsung are doing everything possible to make it so we can't root or flash custom recoveries. It's beyond disgusting how much AT&T goes out of its way to stop us from getting into our own devices.
I'd recommend not purchasing the AT&T branded devices from here on out. Let's hope that the international version of the s5 supports AT&T's LTE bands.

[Q] Samsung SM-S975L Galaxy S 4 LTE

Is the Samsung SM-S975L Galaxy S 4 LTE a different than the s4 sgh-i337? I have been trying for a few days to root it but am now questioning why I can't get any thing to work. This is a phone I bought from Walmart to use on straight talk. I have been trying to use
(New Root Method for AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 4 (OTA MF3 + Safe update to MK2)) and I can't get it to work.

The SM-S975L is a Straighttalk only phone.. Its physically the same as the SGH-i337 or any other Galaxy S4 but it has special programming so you cannot use it on any other carrier and has its own model number.
I have tried the towelroot on my straight talk s4 but it says that my device is currently not supported

Att S5 active question

I have the s5 active g870a 1ang3 baseband. I wanna try more roms. Just got this phone. But only couple say s5a or active. Found one that says g870a but the rom is based off of a different baseband.
My question is what roms can I use. Does baseband matter? Can I install rom that says active supported but doesn't state model? I tried using rom slot cause i didn't wanna mess with the stock rom. But gave me corrupt data when booted so now using stock slot.
I would like to find a lollipop rom. I really liked that on my g2. I loved the battery life and features on the lollipop rom I ran on my LG g2.

You are correct to use stock slot in safestrap, but if i understand cirrdct you want to install things like cyanogen mod, ehich is not an oltion since the bootloader of att devices are locked. The roms you can flash are under the att s5 android development section, and the post title usually states if it supports the s5a

So as long as it says active or s5a it is OK? What about baseband? Cause I have seen 1 or 2 say active or s5s support just has a different baseband number.

[Q] Clean Stock ROM on a SM-G900A with AT&T stock ROM

Hi!
I just bought a Samsung S5 SM-G900A (AT&T) with no contract. I use it in Argentina where there´s not even AT&T service. My cellphone company is Personal.
Anyway, I come from a Moto x 2013 and I find this S5 is slower than my previous phone. Before starting with custom roms, I´d like to try installing from Sammobile a clean stock kitkat or lollipop. When I say clean I mean no carriers apps or so. May I do this with no root? Is there any risk?
Thanks!

You cant go down to kitkat if youre lollipop, if you arent you still can only flash firmware(via odin) for the g900a, which will have bloat, if you root you can flash some roms that have little to no bloat, only touchwiz based though, no cyanogen/aosp/aokp/etc, locked bootloader prevents it.

I'm on KitKat 4.4.2 . For some reason i am not getting the OTA firmware update. Could it be because I'm outside eeuu? Is it worth switching to lollipop?
What do you mean by bloat? Tks

Bloat as in preincluded apps. Theres an ota file in att s5 general that you can use to update through stock recovery, the thread has a download and instructions.

Can't I just flash an at&t free lollipop through odin?
I remember doing that with my samsung s3 getting the stock firmwares from sammobile. I would just pick a polish free one (no at&t or other brand), which are usually the first to see the light.

Nope, flashing a firmware from an international(or any other variant) variant will brick you. You can flash roms based on firmware from other variants but thats the closest youll get. I'm not 100% but i dint think theres an odin image for lollipop, just the ota file for stock recovery.

Rakuu, does this apply because of at&t version or because of s5 itself? My s3 would accept any international firmware.

Yes, only Verizon ROMS.
Binaries missing, so not completely rooted.
Hi, I have rooted my S5 g900f with chainfire method it was no problem. When I did a root checker it says that I'm not totally rooted cause my supersu miss new binaries. Supersu by chainfire appears and root only apps also, it's just that I can't give them su access. Could someone help me please cause I'm not a noob nor a nerd. Just a 40yo geek without big knowledge in binaries and roms, just know how to root but I learn step by step. Thanks in advance. Chris from Belgium.
