Storage issue or what? hidden sys files? - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

hi everyone,
So i have the 32 gb model and according to settings storage the system take 7 gb so that left me with ~25/24 gb in my internal right?
But looking at solid files property of my root internal storage, I see that I have 10 gb inside it including apps and apps data(~ 8gb of game data), and 12 gb elsewhere, but where exactly and what is there?

Do you use es file Explorer? If so it could be stuff that you have deleted, but es file Explorer moves it to the recycle bin until you permanently delete it. If not I'm not sure.

Do this go and grab Clear Temp from FreewarePocketPC.net. Also open your file explorer and go to Windows>Opera>Profiles>Downloads and emty that folder.

[Q] Nexus 4 actual storage size

Hi guys, i bought my nexus 4 almost 1 month.
But i still confuse about the actual storage size of my nexus 4.
If i check with system>storage and ES File Explorer, it show total 12.92GB.
But if i check with Titanium Backup it show System Rom with 867MB, Internal and SD card is the same 13.8GB.
13.8GB is it mean 12.98GB+0.85GB(867MB), or there is some hidden storage?
I had try to delete CWM rom backup, it just release about 50MB. Is that CWM taking some storage to backup?
Maybe GB->GiB

No, 12.92 is correct. Storage is used for the OS, formatting, etc.

I agree, some people count a GB as 1000MB, some count it as 1024MB.

reported internal storage confusion

hi folks,
can anyone explain to me how the the available internal memory is reported in settings->storage on the i9505? mine seems pretty nonsensical.
its reported as follows:
total space 9.25gb
applications 1.74gb
pictures videos 12.54mb
audio 240kb
downloads 20mb
miscellaneous 435mb
available 2.32gb
furthermore, es file explorer is reporting that 6.92gb out of 9.25gb available memory is used, which matches the 2.32gb available reported in settings->storage.
so where is the remaining 4.7gb??!?
i used the sd card analyser in es file explorer to see what's going on and where the data is but adding up all the data there does not account for the missing 4.7gb??
any clues?

Hi,
Have you perhaps made a nandroid backup which saved to your internal memory?
hi malybru. no - i've done nandroid to extSdCard. if i had mistakenly done it to internal, the data would show up in the clockworkmod folder anyway, which it doesn't.
i have flashed to official BTU roms from odin, without wipe, and rooted afterwards each time. could this have anything to do with it?
when i attach the phone to my windows laptop and examine the internal memory in windows explorer, under properties the phone memory is saying 6.92gb used out of 9.25, yet when i select all the files and go to properties, it only adds up to 500-500mb?!?

Hi,
I use a great app from the market, called "FX File Explorer"
It has a "View " button at the bottom of the page which will show you a breakdown of the data on your phone.
Click it when you are in your Main Storage.
It might help to locate some stuff that should not be there.
If not,it's still a great app to have.
yes es file explorer has the same thing. there's no sign anywhere of the missing 4.7gb data! all the files add up to about 600mb.
i still have no clue about this. how about if i backup all the files, reformat internal storage in recovery, copy files back?
i had this problem before.. then i checked data/media.. there should only be 3 folders there which are: 0, legacy and obb.. move every other folder to 0.. hope this helps..

Storage takes double the space

I need help with this problem please. It looks like my storage space is doubled, and I am quickly running out of space because of this.
When connecting my Nexus 4 to my computer, I can confirm that everything that I see through the connection is 4.94GB. However, as a drive, it reports only 2.98 GB free. As you may know total memory is 12.92GB.
Now using ES File Explorer, there are these folders that all seem to be pointing somehow to the same "sdcard" storage (the one where all the files are stored).
All these are under Device, so the main root folder
mnt - sdcard (shortcut) - 4.94GB
sdcard (shortcut) - 4.94GB
storage - emulated - 0 - 4.94GB
storage - emulated - legacy - 4.94GB
storage - sdcard (shortcut) - 4.94GB
All the other folders seen through ES File Explorer take 575.06MB, which I'm assuming are the system files
However, if I select all 3, mnt, sdcard and storage, total space taken is only reported as 4.94GB
But if I select only storage, the size is reported as 14.83GB
I'm not sure what is the story with it. I used to have android 4.3, then now I have upgraded to PA 2.99
Anyone could give me any options, where should I look, what folders to check. I would really like back that extra 4.94GB's
Could anyone help me with this please? I can provide any additional details required

I seem to encounter the same problem. Have you come up with any solution?
I ended up formating the entire phone and re-installing the OS

Why is my internal storage so full?

So ES File explorer says my internal storage is 22.8 GB / 23.3 GB (98% full) I have disabled the recycle bin, and estrongs folder is only 12 MB. I try going through all the folders and checking their size, and I can't add up to more than a few hundred MB.
I plug my phone in to my computer to see if it will be faster for me to look around, and sure enough, Windows says there are 517 MB free out of 23.2 GB. I look around, and once again, I can't find any large folders.
Going to Applications > Settings > System > Storage on the phone shows 31.5 GB used out of 32.0 GB.
Samsungs "My Files" app also shows the same as above.
Both My Files and ES File Explorer show 98-99% of the internal storage is taken up by "other" files. What could this be? How do I get rid of it?
+1 Interested as well. My others is 500mb but I'd like to be proactive, since I can't find the "other" files.
Thanks in advance.
I was having the same issue a while back. I suddenly got a notification that my device storage was almost full. What confused me was that I barely download much and most of what I save is on my SD card. Tried deleting apps and stuff but the storage seems to fill up on its own somehow.
Though I eventually found it to be cache saved on the phone. I used CCleaner from the PlayStore and I cleared up around 17 GB of cache... which is a lot. Try using a cache/file cleaning app like CCleaner or similar and see if it works for you as well. I haven't noticed any changes on my phone either so I still wonder what stacked up so much cache!

I just tried CCleaner, and it "deleted" 13.76GB Thumbnail Cache. But right above that it still says I have 22.53GB/24.19GB used.
Like many others in this thread I am trying to locate the hidden data on my inetrnal storage, no tool I have tried thus far will tell me where pr what this data is and allow me to nuke it manually. Doing a factory reset is not only rediculous but counter intuative - I shdould be able see WTF this data is and bloody well nuke it.

It was PrivateMode using space in the internal storage.
