Cannot flash Custom Rom on SM-N9005 Help please - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone,
last night I was toying with my Note 3 (SM-N9005) European Edition and I succesfully rooted the phone and installed Super SU.
Super SU was upgraded automatically via TWPR.
Tried to Flash Darkwolf Note7 rom for Note3.
Installation starts, but once it begines I get an error about wrong footer and the progress bar stops.
So I went back, used Odin again, changed from TWRP to CWM tried to flash again the same Rom got verification of zip file failed.
Downloaded RessurectionRom with 6.0.1 for note 3, same issue.
Went back again, changed from CWM to TWRP once more, same issue.
Installation fails
Ultimately had to recover the ROM that I had backed up.
Not sure what the problem is?
Can someone help me?
Thank you in advance.

Read the roms OP a guess is you are using the wrong version of TWRP .
TWRP recovery recommended, 2.8.7.0. Newer versions are not supported

Ι don't think that the issue mate.
I downloaded exactly what I should have according to their site and the tutorial I follow.
Furthermore CWM has a dedicated CWM for note 9005 which again was unable to complete the installation.
So any other thoughts?

This is most likely due to the unsupported version of twrp you are using as darkwolf ported roms uses aroma/pico installer. Use below v3 like 2.8 you should be able to launch aroma installer.
REMEMBER TO FLASH A CUSTOM KERNEL OR IT WILL NOT BOOT ONCE YOU FINISH FLASHING THE DARKWOLF ROM AS DARKWOLF ROMS DONT HAVE ANY KERNEL INCLUDED.
I recommend using SKYNET GENESIS as your custom kernel. You will know how good it is after you install it:laugh:
I highly recommend you not to use note 7 darkwolf rom as your daily driver... features are really good but in actuall fact heats up like mad and drains battery very well
If there's still problems after trying my methods out please let me know i will give a full tutorial on how to install the DARKWOLF ROM on youtube
Cheers!

Hi guys, thank you for your replies.
But to b honest I am a bit of a novice. I just checked some tutorial videos and I though FUN let's sprush up the NOTE 3....
So I do not know how to proceed??

Let's see if I can help you with at least installing a CM12.1 on the n9005. Once you can successfully install CM12.1, you'll have a basic working knowledge of flashing.
Download the latest tar version of TWRP for the n9005 from here: https://twrp.me/devices/samsunggalaxynote3internationalqualcomm.html
Download Odin 3.07 from here: https://www.google.ca/url?sa=t&rct=...5QWImOPDJboTA_V3D5S9eA&bvm=bv.133178914,d.amc
Download the latest cm12.1 for the n9005 from here and save it to either a micro SD card which you will put into the phone or the phone's internal memory: https://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=hlte
Download the latest ARM version of gapps for the n9005 from here and save it to either a micro SD card which you will put into the phone or the phone's internal memory: http://opengapps.org/
Open Odin, uncheck everything except f.reset time.
Make sure CM12.1 and gapps are either on a micro SD card or the phone's internal memory. If CM12.1 and gapps are on a micro SD card, insert the card into the phone.
Put the phone into download mode, connect the phone to the computer, flash TWRP in the PDA slot. When you see the word "reset" in the status window remove the USB cable from the phone, remove the battery, replace the battery, use the button combination (home, volume up, power) to boot into recovery which should now be TWRP.
Once you are in TWRP, wipe system, data, cache, install CM12.1, install gapps, and reboot.

Most roms provide an md5 number to verify a good download. It is a checksum that tells you the download is good. Get a file explorer like FX Explorer. Long press on rom you downloaded and then open details. It will have selection to do a checksum. The number should match the one from the rom site where you downloaded it from. Very common to get a bad download from time to time. You can also use terminal on pc, if you familiar with that and have adb on your pc. I prefer that method. I do it as soon as download to rom to pc.
Also, what version twrp are you on. Most prefer 2.5.0.2. This is a flashable zip for it.
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/yhrq0tia8512rj9/FCjN8C9RMT/TWRP_Flashable-2.5.0.2.zip
Flash thru your current twrp recovery. Unless you already have 2.5.0.2 or the very latest twrp seems ok. On 2.5.0.2 don't ever do a format where you have to type "yes" to comfirm format.
I always wipe thru the Advanced menu manually. I wipe System/Data/Caches 3x. Always do that flashing new roms on new versions to a rom, unless dev says otherwise. Or, on CM Nightlies. Even then it doesn't hurt to do a full wipe on occasion. Crap can build up over time dirty flashing and cause issues.
As Ax said, unless you are flashing a CM roms, no need for gapps. Also, depending on rom you are flashing you may need to flash your carriers kernel after rom.
So, more info may be needed to help you--:good:

Solution to Sim unlock OD3 with no downgrade Bootloader

Sorry for my english before to all, i recently take the OTA od3 and my network shut down, and cant downgrade to KK or JB because this bootloader block to downgrade version, but i solved this using some ideas from varios post here and on highonandroid.com, i can restore my network but data not work, if wanna data working, you should install a custom rom. Procces Here:
1.- Your stocked on OD3 Bootloader, need to install CWM Root http://downloadandroidrom.com/file/GalaxyS5/CWM/Qualcomm/philz_touch_6.26.2-klte.tar.md5 form odin on download mode.
2.- Download Galaxy S5 Rooted Stock ROMs from here http://galaxys5root.com/galaxy-s5-rooted-stock-roms/ and copy to your SD card.
3.- In to recovery philz and wipe data, cache, and in advance clear daevil cache, back to install zip and install the stock rom, very important install the Galaxy_S5_spr_Stock.Kernel_NK4 from here https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=22599 or you will be stuck on samsung logo.
4.- Download http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=2998481&d=1415081045 important disable your antivirus or you sould be on trouble with this app, install app and unlock your network, at this step you gonna be on kk version with od3 bootloader with your phone netwok works, on my case cant get data, you could try to confugure apn but for me doenst works, if you want a data need to follow the next step or stop here on stock version.
5.- OPTIONAL, if wanna data download this rom https://mega.co.nz/#!tEoSyKwT!qVTcxydRgtSIEg6fcstIZ3QkJuFMCTkTf9sbMnB CAXM (copy space CAMXM its part of link) and put on your sd, reboot on recovery, wipe data and cache, install the rom, and this is all.
Note: Each firts time to install a rom (stock and Custom) the phone during too time to into a system dont scary its only 1 time, and dont power off it, if step 5 doesnt turn on install the kernel again.
Too thanks to this persons and pages, all the stuff and links are of this guys, i only put it together here, plz visit their post and thanking to they:

so you flashed G900P rom on G860P ?????
Hi, I tried this, but everytime I select "reboot system now" after flashing the rooted stock rom and the kernel, it says "root access is missing. root device?" with choices "No, Yes - root device, and No". Then if I select "Yes - root device" it still goes to cwm recovery after rebooting.
Here's what I did:
1. Install CWM using Odin.
2. In CWM, wipe data -> clean for new rom.
3. wipe cache.
4. wipe dalvik cache.
5. flash SM-G900P_NI3_ROOTED_ODEXED.zip.
6. flash Galaxy_S5_spr_Stock.Kernel_NK4.zip.
7. Reboot system -> Yes - root device.
Can you check if I did something wrong? I don't know what to do. Thanks.
has anybody tried to to do this, because i want to do it and i dont want to damage my phone,i have a sprint Galaxy S5 SM-G900P

[Q] Best procedure for flashing Optimized CM12.1 on to the UK GT-I9505 (JFLTEXX)?

I successfully flashed CM11 on to my LG G Pad 8.3 without issue so I've done this before (but most of the downloads had Batch files to automate things) but want to still be sure of the procedure.
My I9505 was recently upgraded OTA to Android 5.0.1 along with Samsung's TouchWiz. Hopefully this won't complicate matters.
Is this the best/recommended procedure? -
Root: What's the best/recommended method to Root my S4?
Backup Stock Recovery: Using Flashify on Google Play.
Install Recovery: Is TWRP Recovery v2.8.7.0 the best Recovery to use?
The Optimized CM12.1 thread recommends TWRP 2.8.7.0 but the download doesn't contain a batch file to run?
Reboot to TWRP --> Backup my existing ROM image then choose the Wipe option
Install the Optimized CM12.1 ROM then GAPPS from SD Card
Related questions about the Optimized CM12.1 ROM and GAPPS please:
Wouldn't a regular CM12.1 Nightly for the I9505 be better than the Optimized CM12.1 ROM? The Optimized CM12.1 ROM looks to be older (2015-06-16), or am I splitting hairs over a few days? Thanks
The Optimized CM12.1 thread offers a link to download GAPPS for Lolilpop 5.1. Is this better to use than the one in the GAPPS for Lollipop 5.1 here (ARM download): http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Google_Apps
Thanks a lot in advance for your help.
Is the TWRP Manager on Google Play the best/recommended way to install TWRP 2.8.7.0? -

Thanks again.
Regarding your steps...
1, 2: Cyanogenmod is pre-rooted, and the stock recovery images are readily available, thus these steps waste time.
3. Yes.
4. Yes. You'll use Odin to flash the recovery, thus no batch file.
5, 6: Yes.
As to your other questions...
1. You need to decide which you want more. Is having a more current build more important than the optimizations? Regardless of the final choice both install in essentially the same fashion.
2. The GApps in the thread is more up-to-date than the official download.
Finally, TWRP Manager stopped working properly some time ago and really isn't necessary. Download the image from the Optimized CM12.1 thread and install it using Odin.

A few more questions please:
1. So when you run Odin it will ask for the location of the TWRP Recovery v2.8.7.0 folder?
2. Is this the best place to get Odin? - http://odindownload.com/
3. That link says I need "ADB & FASTBOOT TOOLS", where do I get these for the S4?

Oh great thanks. I noticed it was a smaller download. Is there much missing from it over the official one?
Thanks again Strephon.
1, 2: No. You only need to flash the recovery through Odin to be able to install Cyanogenmod.
2. I believe the apps that all can be downloaded from the Play Store are missing, which is a good thing.
4: You need to input the location of TWRP on your hard drive. Search on XDA for the most current version of Odin (3.10.6) and ignore that site's comment about ADB & Fastboot Tools. Simply download Samsung's drivers off their website and install them. As an alternative, you can install Kies, but make sure Kies isn't running when you run Odin.

Great. Thanks for the further help. I'm nearly there, just a few more questions please:
Do I need to enable USB Debugging?
Running Odin and it's unclear what to do next? I presume these instructions under "Odin Install Method (No Root Required)" are correct? - https://twrp.me/devices/samsunggalaxys4internationalqualcomm.html
Those instructions say to press the PDA button, there is no PDA button. Do I press the AP button instead?
In Odin options is it safe to leave "F. Reset Time ticked"? It looks like it is.
The TWRP 2.8.7.0 in the Optimized CM12.1 thread only offers a ZIP file and the link here only offers an IMG file: https://dl.twrp.me/jfltexx/. But it looks like Odin needs a TAR file. Any ideas?
I presume this (Micro) GAPPS is as good to install as the GAPPS link in the Optimized CM12.1 thread (it's newer, just want to be sure it's compatible)? - http://opengapps.org/
Finally, is it a good idea/recommended to convert to F2FS?
Googling and it's unclear if I want "F. Reset Time" ticked or I should be converting to "F2FS", so I thought I should be sure first. Great I already have Kies installed.
Thanks again. I'm pretty close to installing CM12.1 now.
It won't hurt, but in download mode it shouldn't be needed.
Yes.
The instructions assumed an older version of Odin. Press the AP button.
If Odin fires up with it enabled by default, I'd leave it as is.
Grab the 2.8.7.0 TAR from https://dl.twrp.me/jfltexx/ and install it through Odin. Afterward, you can change over to the F2FS-compatible version using the upgrade instructions given on the twrp.me install page.
It should be compatible, but you may have better luck using the version in the thread.
F2FS is totally optional. I personally don't use it.
Thanks for the quick reply again. There is no 2.8.7.0 TAR file in that link, just a 2.8.6.0 TAR file .
* I presume I should install 2.8.6.0 TAR then install the 2.8.7.0 IMG file on top from inside TWRP?
* OR better yet install 2.8.6.0 TAR using Odin then install 2.8.7.0-F2FS ZIP from inside the TWRP 2.8.6.0 Recovery itself? I presume I use the same Install option I do to install CM2.1 itself?
I didn't look carefully at the page. Sorry. But yes, you can grab the 2.8.6.0.tar, install it, then install either of the 2.8.7.0 images afterward in TWRP.
Thanks Strephon Alkhalikoi. I finally got around to doing this last night and it went without a hitch. I got a pit error using Odin but a quick Google said to plug the USB cable direct into the PC.

So, http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s5/help/rom-official-cm-12-nightly-builds-post-t3015742 here you will find Cyanogenmod ROM for your device. READ ALL CAREFULLY.
Here https://download.chainfire.eu/728/CF-Root/CF-Auto-Root/CF-Auto-Root-klte-kltezt-smg900i.zip you got the chainfire autoroot zip. Just flash the .md5 with odin that you also got in the .zip. If with that version doesn't work, download 3.10.7.
In the first link, post 2, you got also the TWRP recovery. Flash it with odin and make a backup on the external card, because you'll need to wipe everything on the phone, and you will now that you are safe, because you backup is on external card. Be carefully not to wipe out the external too!

Just some follow-up questions before I start:
The cyanogenmod downloads page has 6 links for cm13 and only 1 for cm12, which should I go with? The thread you linked is for cm12 so I assume I should go with cm12 but i may be wrong.
Also, the GAPPS thread linked in the install guide has been closed, what should I use instead?
If it would be better for me to use cm13 should i use this http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s5/unified-development/rom-cyanogenmod-13-0-android-6-0-t3237502 guide?
you should the official cm13 nightlies. i recommend using opengapps
opengapps.org
alsl you should flash twrp, and make a nandroid backup from twrp.

Rooted, Custom Rom a huge fail

Hello dear Community!
It is depressing that my first appearance here is to ask for help, but I am going crazy.
So, I tried to Root my phone via Odin + CF Autoroot klte and it seemed to have been a success.
The root checker also said, that my device was rooted so I went on and installed TWRP to be able to install Lineage OS.
After getting Lineage to work I got a few error messages suddenly popping up, telling me that either "Music had stopped" or other android operation were closed because they didn't work properly.
I tried to install Gapps, it seemed to have worked but I was only able to open and enter the store once, afterwards the store never managed to load and then the app closed itself after starting it.
So I checked again with Root Checker, but this time it gave me an error message, too. It said, that my device was not rooted properly.
I guess this is were I made it worse by deciding to just root the phone again. Obviously, it didn't work either.
Afterwards I thought that maybe installing The Original Android OS and then unrooting the phone would be the best solution to be able to start anew.
First I tried to flah Lineage again and that made it impossible for me to boot the phone. The farthest I got was the setup page, were it tells you Hello and were you can choose a Language, but clicking the arrow key didn't do anything at all.
The recovery mode was also not the TWRP one anymore, but the original Android one and that was a huge problem for me.
Then I tried to flash the 6.1 OS for the S5 (I made sure it was the correct version), but now it is stuck at the "Samsung" screen while it boots.
It never boots though.
I don't know what to do anymore.
Please, I beg you, could anyone help me out?

You needn't root via CF-autoroot if your end goal was to flash lineage. CF autoroot was intended to root stock roms with ease and less effort.
Flash The LATEST, official TWRP via odin then do a FULL WIPE. Wipe system, data, cache and dalvik cache.
From here on, you have two options:
1.) Sideload the LineageOS rom via ADB
2.) Transfer it to the phone's storage via MTP and flash it from TWRP.
As for how to accomplish this, the forum search bar and Google has your back. You need only choose one procedure.
If you need the Play Store, flash gapps AFTER flashing LINEAGE AND BEFORE REBOOTING.
Since you were under the idea that utilizing CF-autoroot was a necessity, I suggest that you re-read this post thoroughly before actually putting it into practice.

Thank you so much for your fast reply!
-> I flashed the newest Version for klte via Odin, but I can't get into the boot mode.
I only am able to enter the download mode. What can I do now?
Flash TWRP via odin again, untick the Auto-Reset option of Odin first. Then try booting to recovery via long holding the power, home and volume up button simultaneously without releasing any of the buttons until you successfully see the TWRP splash screen.
If that still doesn't work, reboot to recovery via adb from download mode. You need the adb and the usb drivers for your device.
If that still doesn't work, you might have flashed an incompatible version of TWRP.

Thank you so much, it worked perfectly!
I can now start my phone and use it normally.
But the Root Checker still says:
"Sorry! Root access is not properly installed on this device.
Device: SM-G900M
Android version: 7.1.2"
What should I do from now on?
Thank you so much for your help (agaiN).
And as for why I used the auto-root, well I just followed a guide that I found, it only had positive reviews so I assumed it was a correct tutorial.

I thought about doing that, but wasn't sure how exactly to proceed and what Version to install.
I downloaded SuperSU v.2.82 and put it on my internal storage.
Just install over TWRP the same way that I Installed Lineage and Gapps I suppose?
I guess if it doesn't work out, I just follow the steps from above again and retry?
Thank you so much. I feel like in idiot in this situation.
