Hello,
My university provides WiFi only for laptops and the laptops are registered via their MAC address. So in order to use WiFi through mobile I've to spoof its MAC Address.
I've tried all means (ES explorer root editor , MAC spoofing apps , Terminal Editor etc.... ) which where posted online but none seems to work.
The MAC seems to reset to its original value each time I turn on WiFi (or I would like to think so, not sure)
Any solutions?... (My device runs NucleaRom (Android 6.0.1)

But I found that even if only a pure system that will change the MAC address of each boot
Although not affect the use, but I can not connect to my wireless network

This guide is for users who want to change their device mac address. Mac address blocking can be a problem in public WiFi. Where the administrator can block your access to the internet using a mac filter !
The mac spoof apps on the play store wont work with xperias
Mac address handling varies with OEMs. So the trick which works on other devices, wont work on Xperias
This guide supports all Xperia devices (Zl /Z /Z1 /Z2 /Z3) on the latest KITKAT version (4.4.4)
Step 1
Copy the follwing from / data / etc
wlan_macaddr0
wlan_macaddr1
wlan_macaddr2
wlan_macaddr3
Step 2
Paste these files at /system/etc/firmware/wlan
Step 3
There will be files such as
macaddr0
macaddr1
macaddr2
macaddr3
Now rename all the above files to some other name. Like "macaddr0p" and so on..
Step 4
At /system/etc/firmware/wlan
You need to rename the files you have already copied
wlan_macaddr0 to macaddr0
wlan_macaddr1 to macaddr1
wlan_macaddr2 to macaddr2
wlan_macaddr3 to macaddr3
Edit the above files using text editor to the preferable mac address you wish to have and then REBOOT !. This is permanently change your mac address
Be careful while editing the mac address. Use numerals and first few alphabets till " f ". Otherwise the mac adress will change to 01:00:00:00:00:00 and WiFi might not work.

On which version of Android did you tested ? Is it the same for all flavours of Android ?
Can this method be used on other devices or just Xperias ?

If your Device Is rooted you can download MAC changer from play store and change your MAC address to the one you find on the box. ..

I know it's possible and I've tried several apps including 'MacChanger'.
If I change it and view my mac address, it's changed.
If I connect, it says 'Connecting...' for a long time and stops after a while, resets the mac address back to it's default and successfully connects.
Yes the MAC Address is in the right format.
I rooted my phone (Huawei Y550) manually with SuperSU and busybox installed.
Using ifconfig command on the wlan0 interface it doesn't change at all,
and I guess MacChanger uses the method that edits the file containing the MAC Address, which it shows the new mac address, but changes it to the default after connecting.
Any advice?

I was on MIUI8 rom before installing ED300's CM13 rom, and i noticed that everytime i would open my wifi my mac address would change. Can anyone pls help because the wifi im connected to has mac address filter. I googled everything but the spoofing mac address only works on Mediatek devices. I havent found anything that works for our phone
