Hey guys
I installed Nougat the other day and it was extremely laggy, for example it would take about 5+ seconds to unlock the screen after a successful fingerprint read. This evening I decided to do a completely fresh install to see if it could have been some old files from 6.0 causing it. Unfortunately not. The lag has returned again.
Even pulling down the notification drawer is very laggy. It's almost as if the phone is trying really hard to do something and doesn't have enough resources to do what I'm asking.
So my question is, what should I do? Is this a known problem? I don't really want to downgrade back to Marshmallow.
I did try and search around on these forums and a general Google search but nothing really came up.
Thanks!
This seems to be getting worse. Feels like the CPU is constantly maxed out.
Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this? I really don't want to wipe my phone again to downgrade back to Marshmallow but I might have to because it's rendering the phone almost unusable.
For reference I'm on NRD90U
Here is a screenshot of the battery stats:

Hi !
Actually i have the same issue with my 6P on a clean install too and i'm very regarding concerning the smoothness of a phone (and that why I sell my galaxy s6 for the 6P).
Before nougat, i had the jgcaap CM rom, and it was always buttery smooth !
Now with nougat, just pulling down the notification drawer struggle too, and don't feel like before. I can definitely feel some lag in scrolling in instagram or even the app drawer..
I think i'm going to roll back to CM 13, and wait for CM 14
Mine is smooth. No lag at all.
Maybe a rogue app ?
Any way to easily see what app could be causing it other than removing all third party apps?
You could try Cool Tool and have all displayed labels: CPU usage, frequency, Ram and Most Ressource-intensive process checked.
If it's CPU bound then you might find the process. If it's IO bound then you won't find the process.
If rooted, you could also check logcat, dmesg.
Or reboot in safe mode.
Last would be to factory reset to make sure it's not a hardware fault. And do not restore apps immediately..
Try rebooting to safe mode to see if the problem goes away...

I've been on Nougat about a week and it's been very smooth for more with the exception of a few apps that I had to clear data for to get working properly. I restored some of them with Titanium Backup so I'm sure that caused the issue. Nougat itself has been very smooth and responsive though.
So it turns out that Tune In Pro radio app was the culprit. I used to use it as an alarm, but I noticed that as soon as I set the alarm on it, the phone started lagging. Thanks for everyone's help! Much appreciated!

Hey all, I haven't found this posted anywhere, but does anyone else experience this bug? It's been here for every iteration of CM7 I've tried (and I've virtually flashed every nightly and went through several wipes over the course of the last few months, big props to the team)
The Recent Apps window occasionally is too small, but sometimes it works! I've turned off compatibility mode. It seems to happen often with landscape mode.

Again, it doesn't happen every time, just sometimes.
There's a thread somewhere regarding LCD density....Search it. If I was at my puter I could post the link but im on my phone.

So here's the deal with that.
It's a thing CM7'ers are stuck with.
If you change to 160 dpi, it will fix it. Assuming you're running the latest market and maps, 160 should be okay.
A solution most of us have done is install Recent Apps Plus and starting from step 1, replaced the default recent apps. I like it more with the volume control and all
To change to 160 if you want, go to system/build.prop w/root explorer or the like and change the line that is about halfway down from 161 to 160, and that will fix it.
You could also try turning off compatibility mode in settings >applications >development, but I've had limited success with that and the recent apps popup.

I'm currently using ' More Recent' to get around this problem. Its simple and so far has worked without any problems: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.britoso.morerecent&feature=search_result
Small background on the issue here, i tried the stock android camera but the video recording was stuck in low resolution and didn't work correctly so i removed it (and the built in gallery), i went back to using the Samsung camera (which i'm not happy with anyway) but when i use the gallery, the thing is laggy as hell, zooming and browsing pictures is jumpy at best, and if i stay in the app, it pretty much freezes the phone up.
So i had a look in the task manager and any time the Gallery is running in the background it constantly uses around 16% of the CPU and the RAM usage goes up and up, at a rate of 50mb+ per minute, keeping the phone hot and draining the battery. The phone will eventually need resetting if left in this state.
Since i wasn't in the mood for troubleshooting, i guessed that the android camera/gallery had messed something up with the samsung one and i just did a full wipe/factory reset, the problem still persists. Do i need to flash the firmware again to fix this? It seems like something is corrupted but i'm not sure why the factory reset hasn't fixed it.
Here's a few screenshots i took over a 4 minute period.
The firmware is I9505XXUEMJ7 4.3

I think u need update ur firmware. Conect it to Kies 3 and make us a screenshot pls

I had just done this before your reply and it did need an update, it's now on the latest:

"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
The problem still remained however i think i've managed to fix it in the last few minutes, I did the following:
Tried Camera JB+ from the Play Store
Disabled the Samsung Gallery app
Didn't like the JB+ camera so removed it
Enabled Samsung Gallery again and now it's not causing problems
I'm not sure if it was the disabling/enabling of the gallery which has fixed it or if it was the install/removal of another camera/gallery, but for now it seems to be fixed, i have been trying everything over the last few days, factory reset, clearing caches and even updating to the newer firmware. Glad it seems to be working (for now at least) but annoying that i don't know why it was happening. Also worried it will happen in the future which could drain the battery in a very short time if i don't notice it quickly.
- Only u have to go Apps - Settings - More - Aplication manager- (last tab) All
- Tap "Gallery" app
- Clean cache
Took a couple of pictures at work this morning and it's doing it again! Not sure what else i can try.
edit: i've just switched g+ picture backup on and it's told me it's updating 139 pictures (there are only about 20 pics on the phone). After checking my account online, i can see it's uploading a bunch of photos that were deleted a long time ago on the phone.
Context:
I bought a Phantom 3 quadcopter/drone and I needed a tablet to run DJI Pilot App. I saw Tab Pro 8.4 on sale at Best Buy and it has a good outdoor bright screen so that's what I got. But the tablet lags video terribly. It's like watching a stop-motion video. Terrible.
To speed things up, I installed Google Now Launcher and disabled or uninstalled anything and everything I could (and was allowed to disable). I turned on developer options and got rid of any animations, and I turned on "Force GPU rendering."
All this helped quite a bit, but the video on my DJI App still stutters. It is a lot better, but still stutters.
The downfall:
And this is where I get greedy. Everyone keeps saying that rooting is easy and it helps to get rid of bloatware. Sounds like this will be my solution to my problem. If I can trash the Samsung bloatware, my DJI App will likely work well.
kingoapp.com seemed to be highly regarded and it looked simple enough. I started everything up, things started to happen. And then, Kingoapp said that it failed. The app will no longer connect to my device. Nothing is happening anymore.
Current situation:
My Galaxy Tab shows this:

I would greatly appreciate any help and direction on how to proceed. :crying:
Update 1: I tried doing a hard reset (hardreset.info/devices/samsung/samsung-t320-galaxy-tabpro-84-wifi) per instructions here, but nothing happens.
Update 2: I also tried connecting via Samsung Kies 3 to do recovery, but it does not recognize my device. It knows something is plugged in, but doesn't recognize it.
This is how my device looks right now: :crying:
Any help would be sincerely appreciated. I have never rooted any device.
Update:
FIXED
I found Odin and XDA instructions and tips on Odin... everything is almost back to normal.
The only issue is that my HTTPS connections from the phone seem to get blocked now. To fix the NET ERR_CERT_DATE_INVALID error, all I had to do is set the proper date and time for the tablet.
Can you post the link to what you found that helped fix your error? Also, were you able to address the HTTPS issue?
Thanks!
So One day after I updated to said build, my Lumia keeps getting very hot and the battery is being drained fast. Not sure if it really has to do something with the latest build. I used Diagnostics Hub to check the CPU load and it's constantly on 25-50% (so half the cores are on 100% load) I can't see the processes though. Do you have any idea what could cause this or any app where I can see the processes that are causing the load? I already uninstalled the apps I installed after I updated. I rebooted and took the battery out etc. What can I do to avoid factory reset for now?
Edit: I found out about the developer thing where you can access everything from the webbrowser. I can check processes etc now. Any additional help would still be appreciated!

This is causing the load but how can I find out what exactly it is :/

I used the Windows Device Recovery Tool now to reset it :/ Will report tomorrow if it was fixed.
Edit: It's fixed now.
I had same problem with battery drain ob redstone build. Reload of stable version with WRDT fixed problem.
So, 3 days later it seems the device is running smoothly, no excessive heat anymore. Battery life seems a bit worse compared to stable version, but not untolerable.
I guess the first 5-10 hours after update Windows 10 Mobile is busy updating apps and syncing data. Afterwards things go back to normal.
Also, I've switched off "show More Ties" on Customization -> Start. Will test again with On soon.

got the heating after second try again, now with signed out skype my 1020 has cooled down. i hope battery drain is fixed now.
As promised here: https://www.xda-developers.com/sonys-xperia-z3-z4-tablet-and-z5-series-get-updated-to-android-7-1-1/
yes, it is already running on my Xperia Z5 P. just today installed, testing it!
So far so good, improve performance.

Apart from all the circular icons everywhere?
They do however not appear to support long press on icons on the homescreens (on 7.1 they should produce a submenu)

The quick settings panel now shows 6 settings instead of 5, and the settings gear-icon now shows without expanding the panel entirely.
Did you get this as an OTA?
I have seen nothing yet ...
I have had it for a week or so. My tablet now runs very sluggish and needs rebooting several times a day to free it up.
Reports from others are a bit thin on the ground. So I shall wait a while and see what happens but this is not acceptable so far.
Mine was running sluggish too (no upgrade) the last few days - especially the touchscreen, I tried clearing the cache from a number of apps ... no real change. I rebooted into safe mode - and it seemed to run OK - I then made a simple reboot ... some unexplained changes to launcher and keyboard then seen ... but once I changed those back to my preferred ones, it seems to be running OK again now. I guess there was "something" running in the background hogging all of the processing power.
