Trying to upgrade from KitKat 4.4.4 to Lollipop 5.x - Verizon Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I currently have my S5 rooted and have safestrap installed. Backed up my rom and data and also did a titanium backup. I'm trying to use magisk. Current Android version is 4.4.4. Kernel [email protected]#1 and BB VRU1ANI2 MDF 3. I found one thread, but the links are dead. Ive also gone through the "similar threads" and haven't found much. Any help would be much appreciated

[Q] Restoring to 4.2.2 after upgrading to wanam3.1

Hey guys
I was wondering if after upgrading to wanamlite rom 3.1, which is android 4.3, i will be able to restore a backup i made on the sdcard through recovery of the former 4.2.2 version.
I currently have stock Android 4.2.2 ILO and i am thinking of upgrading to the new Wanamlite rom 3.1. If i do a backup through cwm recovery (is this what's called "nandroid" backup?), will i be able to restore it after the upgrade in a case of a problem or malfunction or if i am not satisfied?
I am asking you this because of the knox issue, that has been said it blocks downgrading.
Thanks
Alon

[Q] Unable to install custom recovery on Note 3

Hi guys,
Not sure of this wss covered already but i was unable to locate anything that helps
I currently have a Galaxy Note 3 n9005 international LTE version with stock kitkat installed 4.4.2. The phone is rooted which i did upon receiving it and have super user 2.0 installed. i have confirmed root with titanium back.
Now i wanted to try a custom rom and tried to install the new phillz touch recovery but observed that it kept failing in odin (tried several times) i even tried to install a custom recovery via ROM Manager which it said the update was complete but when ever i boot into recovery mode i keep get the stock android recovery.
i have search and cannot find anything that help so here i am.
My Android version N9005XXUENC2 AND Kernel version is 3.4.0-636608 dpi @SWDD5619 #1
From my understanding once u root it should have install a custom recovery. When i got the phone it came with Jelly bean 4.3 and i rooted then updated to kitkat, could this be the issue. Does that mean i have root again?
Any assistance given is greatly appreciated.
I have the same Problem rooted with towelroot work fine with knox 0x0 and i have testet it with Rom Manager and with Rom installer have installed twrp and cwm all Not work sorry 4 the Bad english.

If you have updated via Kies, i think you lost the root access. Download a root checker app and check the root status.

Android Ver.: 4.4.2

Kernel Ver.: 3.4.0
Build Number: KOT49I.D80220c

I didn't do anything yet. Like that I Buy it.
First of all which stock Firmware I must download [http://lg-phone-firmware.com/index.php?id_mod=36] for start the root.
After I use Odin to flash the recovery from [http://www.pendroz.com/26/]?
At Last what other I must download, do and with which row.
Thank You Very Much
The only thing you need is AutoRec which will install a custom recovery for you.
For rooting 4.4.2, search for ioroot 25 or higher, or Towelroot.
Odin is used for Samsung phones only, so you don't need it.
By the way, in the link you provided (http://www.pendroz.com/26/) you have everything explained already.

SM-N900V - OF1/OB6 Question

Hi guys,
I've rooted my phone, unlocked the bootloader, installed TWRP recovery then flashed "cm-11-20160410-NIGHTLY-hltevzw.zip" (223.8 MB) from cyanogen mod download but it doesn't work well (really bad service).
I'm looking for a better ROM but I wonder if I can install OF1 ROMs with a SM-N900V (baseband version ending in OB6). More details: android version 4.4.4, Kernel 3.4.0.
What is the most stable ROM I could install on my phone? Thanks! :highfive:
Sorry guys, but could you answer? Is it possible to install OF1 ROMs on a OB6 SM-N900V? Couldn't find the answer on google/xda forums.
