Hello Everyone,
For some reason, no matter what ROM I flash, each have the common issue of any sound causing crashes. This includes trying to make a phone call, listen to music, or watch a video. I am currently running on AOSP SlimRom 4.4.2 (not like this is ROM exclusive, it has happened on every ROM I have tried).
This problem occurred once I semi-bricked my phone, I flashed stock, and then re-rooted. After that, it seems as if no ROM has been fully functional. SlimRom has been wonderful and works in every aspect except the sound issue.
Does anyone have any idea what it could be? If you need more information just let me know and i'll be sure to provide it.
EDIT: I also face data drops when I lock my phone (and reconnects when it unlocks), not sure if this is relevant but worth mentioning.
Thank you very much,
W.

I would redo the whole stock, root, recovery but with fresh downloads. What variant are you on?

I would really like that to be the last option before I jump into that whole process. Attached is a photo of my phone's information.
EDIT: I tried to unroot/re-root and the problems all persist.
Fixed
FIX: Flashed a new modem/hlos and it fixed the problem, thanks for the help!
Hi.. i have the same problem with the sound + he freezes and restarts. After hi restarts hi freeze after the Samsung logo when the at&t logo apears. If I shoot it down and start it he works for some time. Can anyone help me? :') and maybe give me a firmware with Romanian language? I have 4.4.2 now.
Can someone help me to flash a new modem to my s4? Maybe it will work fine after that
Hi
I have international S4 (i9505) and I have tried various roms and every time I end up with some kind of problem, I used one on 4.4.2 and it had connectivity issues, then I tried 1 on 5.0.1 and it started rebooting every few hours, then installed one named optimized cyanogen 12.1 and it says bluetooth crashed over and over.
So the question is can anyone recommend a rome without any of those problems? and dont do anything special on my phone, mostly whatsapp, some online games and music nothing more, but want bluetooth and everything to work.
Ay help?
Thanks
If you don't want to deal with problems, go back to stock and root that.
Even stock has problems.
You should understand that each phone is different, even if it's the same model. Meaning that even if somebody suggest a rom that works perfectly for that person, it might not work for you.
With this in mind I can suggest to you the rom I've been running for a few months and works great for me: Resurrection Remix with alucard kernel.
And if you don't want whatsapp audio issues, go into developer options and enable AwesomePlayer.
one question, what does the kernel affect in the ROMs stability?
right now I´m on Cianogen and it hasnt shown problem, for now at least

Hi @totopesce,
I'm currently using the latest version of a ROM called Dirty Unicorns. I've had little to no issues with it. It's AOSP based, it's nice and light and very customizable.
It's trail and error with custom ROMS really. I was hoping from ROM to ROM for a long time before I eventually settled on Dirty Unicorns. It's your own taste at the end of the day.
Good luck with the search!

Hi,
I have a problem with my S4 i9505 : for few days, it's impossible to watch videos on my phone without lag or freeze...
When I play a video from Youtube or phone internal storage, the video plays for few seconds and then, the image freezes and the sound continues...
Next, the video restart but the image and the sound aren't synchronized.
It's very boring!
Is there a fix for this problem?
Thanks in advance!
I have that problem too and the only fix seems to be rebooting the device every (or every other) day.
I'm also having this issue... anyone aware of a fix?
What rom are you guys running?

Hi,
At the moment I am running the stock ROM of the s4. i9505.
I am NOT currently rooted and the baseband version is I9505XXUHOJ2 - this is the latest version for BTU.
A reboot does fix the issue for a few hours but it can get irratating - I've tried a factory reset and another flash in Odin but it hasn't fixed it.
Thanks.

Have you tried a different player?
Maybe it's done kind of memory leak.
It's more to do with videos that play through apps such as the Youtube, BBC News videos (through the app) etc which lag so I don't see how a different player would help?
I have this too, it is on every app.
The video stops for 1 second while the sound is still playing in the background and then the sound lags.
Tried delete cache from recovery but then my phone crashes.
Touchwiz...
Then it's a touchwiz problem. Thank samsung for that. I use youtube on an aosp custom marshmallow rom and videos play just fine.
Which rom? Lol
There is only one aosp marshmallow rom, and that is the one from jdc team. Every other rom is some kind of cm13 variation or based on cm13.
Hi guys i have been having random reboots on all 7.x.x roms i flashed afther i had miui8, on RR i only had random reboots when i was listening to music with headphones and on seraph unofficial cm14.1 i got a lot of random reboots (about 8) when i first flashed it then i didn't have any and now they are happening again. Hope you guys can help me! tnx in advance! (sorry for my bad english)
Current setup:
latets offcial twrp
cm 14.1 12/08 seraph
no custom kernel
this is what i posted in the thread fo the rom afther all of this happend i think i go in more detail in it:
Hi @ashu01 i have been using your rom for a while, i had a great time with it and i had the most screen on time i ever had on a rom. but i switched back to more stock roms (nougat). And since that i switched from your rom i have been having random reboots on every single rom i flashed. i hope you could help me because this si really anoying.
timeline: i had MIUI8, then i flashed RR 7.1 i didn't have random reboot only when i lisent to music with headphones. i could not handel this any longer so i switch since i thought that it was just RR even tho i didn't see a lot of complains about the same issue i had on that thread. so then i flashed unofficial cm 14.1 by seraph the first 30 minutes i had more then 8 random reboots constantly (i was not listening to music at all- then afther a while i decide to do an extra wipe of cache and dalvik cache. this fixed the constant random reboots. but then i found the other issue again, it still random reboots when i listen to music with headphones. it doesn't reboot imidiatly some times i am just listening for 10 minutes and it reboots and some times i cna bee listenign for more then 1 hour and then it happens.
music app: spotify
extra info: i never flashed a custom kernel on any of the 3 roms and i clean flashed every single rom.
i really hope you could help me out because i can't seem to find why this is happening. i suspect the kernel but that is diffrent for every rom so idk anymore.
hope you have any idea about this.
tnx in advance!

Lots and lots of users have this problem. Can such people send their logcat to the forum so that there may be a chance to catch the culprit.

also when you listen to music with headphones ? only then or also while performing other tasks?
I've had this issue on any rom until i checked and realised that my bootloader had been locked even though I never did that. Then I couldn't unlock it again as the bootloader was locked and i couldnt flash stock recovery. Just use qualcomm flash tool to restore to complete stock. The guide is somewhere in General section of the forum
idk if posted some same thread but my problem is my phone suddenly reboots.
screen went off, twice vibration, then went to samsung galaxy s5 logo.
current setup: android 6.0.1 running no limits rom. all stock
sometimes it reboots then it is stock on the bootloader. i need to remove the battery and turn it on manually. using bootloader and modem of the latest recommended bootloader from the no limits rom.
(it also random reboots on stock firmware using spain which i downloaded from sam mobile firmwares)
is this a hardware issue?
edit: what i did was i upgraded my stock rom from 5.0.1 russia to 6.0.1 spain, does this affect anything? should i stick with russia?

i don't think it has to do with the battery because as long as you have power cores will work,
Do your phone gets too hot then?
I know what's going on I think. Something modified your kernel or something in the ROM is unstable. I had one that did that same thing when I used the camera. You need a better ROM. I recommend ressurection remix 5.8.3 nougat 7.1.2. No reason to be on marshmallow. And get this kernel. It fixed the camera issue and improves battery life. It's a unified klte rom.

i am currently on 6.0.1 mm stock firmware. and still i experience this issues
That does not guarantee there's no bugs in your phone. Have you ever flashed a ROM or anything to your device?

Upgrade to a nougat ROM. It uses the same bootloader of mm so you only need to flash a ROM. Get ressurection remix or lineage is 14.1. Nougat fixes a lot of bugs and security issues. And xtrestolite isn't the most stable ROM. I had it in my s4.

And then if you use rr get the kernel I showed you and flash that too. Please note these Roms don't come with gapps. Google open gapps and it comes up. You want arm 7.0 or 7.1. Stock if you don't mind waiting a while for it to download. I get nano to save time as it still installs the framework and playstore. It saves space and if you want something it didn't install play store will have it anyway.

so you mean cyanogenmod?
Cyanogen mod is now lineage os team. Don't use cyanogen. Get lineage 14.1
If none of the software fixes work, it's your battery. Personal experiance from my S3 Mini and my S5. Don't rage over it going nuts (been there, done that) but just get a new battery.
