AdBlocking for N - Nexus 6P Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Anyone find a working method for AdBlocking in N? I couldn't get AdAway to work.

Go on adaway thread. Download latest APK and the .zip file. Flash in twrp the .zip and reboot in N. Install APK and voila. Your ads will now be blocked.

You can switch the system partition mount/unmount by root explorer and then adaway may works fine

You can always use this: https://block-this.com/

Have you compared to AdAway ? How do you find it better ?
Gesendet von meinem Nexus 6P mit Tapatalk

AdAway is working for me. I updated last weekend by flashing the factory images, rooted, installed the AdAway systemless zip through TWRP then downloaded the app using the XDA Labs app and have had no issues.

What I did was root my phone by booting into TWRP (fastboot boot xxxx.img). Once I was rooted, I booted into TWRP and flashed the MOAAB zip and the hosts file stuck. Then I went into SuperSU and did a full unroot, but I didn't restore the boot img. Now I have ads being blocked, and I'm not rooted so apps like Pokemon Go and Android Pay work!

I stopped with "Block-This". After the latest Nougat update I couldn't install apps from the appstore or update apps. And "Block-This" was the reason.

I ran into the same thing, you just have to disable Block-This when you are downloading/updating an app, and then reenable it afterwards.

Adblocker

What's a good adblocker? I've tried Adaway but It doesn't work.
If you're using AdAway without root, you're right, it doesn't work. With root, it works fine.
If you don't have (or don't want) root, you can try Adguard: https://adguard.com/en/adguard-android/overview.html
AdAway works great for me. make sure you have updated your host file. If you are having issues with specific ads, you may need to manually add them to your blacklist.

Install systemless root, install Magisk and install systemless Xposed. You can't use the system version. It will go bootloop.

Do I still need the systemless root? I was told in a different thread that if I do the latest SuperSU it was already Systemless.
Also does this require that Magisk thing?

I don't think i understand what you mean, you can use any root. But for "normal" root you need to patch the kernel.

My personal experience is some modules don't work well with Emui and even lag and/or increase battery consumption of the phone. Hiding root or greenify, for example, are a hit or miss.

[GUIDE] How to root 7.0 Nougat (S6 Flat/Edge) & fix DRK Error

1)Flash 7.0 from odin
2)Install latest twrp image for your s6 model
3)Install magisk root latest zip https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/official-magisk-v7-universal-systemless-t3473445 in twrp

Magisk Manager 13.4 doesn't like Xposed and BusyBox

I did the root with magisk a few weeks ago and this morning I downloaded and installed the OTA updates without any problems even though logically I had to redo the root. But I would like to know if there is a way to install xposed frameworks with magisk. For the same reason, I cannot install busyboxes either. The installed version of magisk is the 13.4
You can.
So you patched the boot.img and flashed it. In magisk manager it shows rooted now.
Then just press in magisk manager on install and choose directly.
Now the data partitions is also written with magisk files.
Next step would be a reboot and download xposed manager v3.1.2 .
Then download and install the latest framework (88)
In the app.
Should work

You should stop using Magisk 13.4 now that 14.4 is working for our device. You can wait till it is pushed to the official beta channel or find the beta snapshots here. Download and flash the latest one using TWRP and wipe dalvik cache. Download and install Systemless Xposed module (SDK25) and Busybox modules, and reboot. BTW SafetyNet will fail once you enable Xposed.

Now I want try to unistall Xposed framework 25 module from Magisk but it doesn't compare in the list of modules installed. The page of modules is empty. There is no modules but I have installed at least 2. How can I do?

There's a bug with Magisk so no modules are displayed in the Modules tab, but they are active.
I'm not sure, but you should be able to uninstall modules just by using a file explorer with root capabilities, navigate yourself towards the magisk folder and just delete the module you don't want to use anymore.
