As all the reviews say, the video capture is the only thing that lets this phone down. Is there anything that can be done to improve this? Maybe camera mods? or is this a hardware limitation?

I know, but it still looks like crap. Colour and detail is poor. Must be down to the encoding and bitrate.

totally agree, color reproduction is worse, sometimes some areas of the video look grainy.
hope honor fixes it with an update.

image stabilization in wildfire is worst
recently shifted from nokia 6700 slide to htc wildfire ....seriously nokia is the best... even though i dont shake the phone while taking pics the pics get blur ...but while i was playing with the settings i found out that keeping iso at 800 and resolution in 3M the blurr is almost reduced tested it many times works for me (post your opinion, suggestions)
edit : does anyone know any app for image stabilization , and why is the cam recoding in 3gp format but not mp4 which is bit better
I have downloaded from somewhere a sound recorder app which records in 44100 hz, so very good quality, it will be nice with video recording too.

I've seen this done on many phones. (atrix, defy...). You edit the build.prop and change the setting for video recording resolution and then use an app like lgcamera to record at that resolution.
Anyways, anyone want to try this method on the Bravo? The recording resolution they have this set at now really sucks.

The sensor in this phone is just terrible. I think you're better off not banging your head against that wall...
If this phone had a nice sensor, it'd be as close to perfect as any phone I've ever used. Someday someone will finally do it right, right?
Sent from my MB520 using XDA App
I don't think it's the sensor...it's the setting that is limiting the sensor.

I totally agree about the video camera and the still camera is just bearable. I would love to try this but have no idea what part of the build.prop to edit, or what to edit it to. but I am going to do a bit of searching and see what I can find. Thanks

So I've noticed that the stock camera app does not have settings to configure how the camera works. There is only 4k, 1080P, and 720P for recording. Is there anyway to enable the 60fps of the camera?
anyone?

Yeah, but the specs says that it supports 60FPS 1080p recording. is there any app that can utilize the 60FPS feature?

Hmmm, maybe use the flash? Or use a flashlight. Or stop shaking when taking pictures. You can use a tripod.
There is always noice in the pictures taken in low light. You need a real camera with a tripod to be able to keep the shutter open longer.

Iphone 6 did not have this problem. Very nice detailed pictures in low light.
Now you can almost count the pixels.

I'm not a camera app tinkerer but Ive noticed when doin camera recording, the app freezes when you try to capture a photo. Other than that, I have yet to found any.
The Camera app has just been updated on my Z5 .. unfortunately, I forgot to take a screenshot of the changelog (but mostly it seemed to be about the UI and Superior Auto seems to be improved). EDIT: see @schecter7's post directly below mine for the changelog!
Looking at it, the UI was changed the same as how it was supposed to look like based on the promo videos and demo units from before. Sadly, there is no manual shutter speed yet as far as I can see, manual focus, and still cannot change ISO when shooting at 20MP/23MP mode.
We all know thought that Sony tends to have 'hidden' changes to their algorithm whenever they have these kinds of updates as evidenced from updates before. I'm still waiting for the complete changelog from XperiaBlog but so haven't time yet to do any extensive testing.
Did you notice any significant changes in yours apart from the UI changes?
Changelog attached
Edit: Now we could swipe to change modes, added another (third) screenshot.

Limitet manual , no iso at 20-23 mp
Low light photo blure decreased
Left blure rest with no change
I installed the update and I've noticed that the problem with noise in low-light... in fact ingeneral is a bit better. It's still not as good as the galaxy line as far as crispness / saturation, but I don't think that's Sony's goal. For real, if I could install the Samsung camera app and libraries on this phone, I'd be all over that. Anyway it does seem to have improved, noticeably.
Where can I change the GPS tag and save folder location in this new app? Can't find it. Thanks.

Trying not to speak too soon as I've not done anything near a comprehensive test but there do seem to be improvements in processing, though not as marked as I had expected. The one biggie is the zoom: to my eyes, the processing on the zoom is much better now; the sharpening fringing on edges is much smaller, which means that it's less of an oil painting mess when you crop the zoomed image. And that's in low indoor light.
8MP generally seems sharper.
More to follow.
On the interface, I note that they've hidden the exposure and colour adjustments on SA in a menu (boo!) but given a button to switch them off when you want to return to auto (yay!) swings and roundabouts but generally pleased.
EDIT: Yep, definitely better digital zoom. Good enough to piece together small text (Just about legibly) at 5x. Trust me: it was not doing that before!

Interesting. Mine is like this... I have even cleared the camera data.

So still no manual shutter speed in this update?
I thought that this would be a given since the Z5 supports manual features now, or don't they?
Is it possible to control the shutter speed with 3rd party apps? What's the resolution and the shutter speed range? Is it actually working or does the system override the manual settings?

The fisheye effect at long focal lengths at the edges of pictures appears to have been corrected. Definite colour balance tweaks, spot on now for me.

Through auto update. Tried uninstalled and reinstalled but no luck. Don't really want to format the phone just because of the camera.
