Not having much luck with this guide. I came from a PureNexus rom/ElementalX rom before flashing the factory Nougat. Tried following the guide step by step, but the Magisk toggle doesn't do anything for me.
Did you used supersu or phh superuser?
Try again, flashing stock system and boot images in fastboot then follow the guide.
What I did was factory reset, then fastboot flash everything except userdata (there's a guide in here) from M to latest N NRD90U,
Then fastboot flash twrp
Then rebooted to twrp
Flash magisk
Flash phh superuser magisk version
Booted phone
Downloaded phh superuser app from playstore
Installed magisk manager APK
Granted root, then I was able to unroot/root with the toggle
*later I flashed custom kernel but I first flashed stock boot.img then EX kernel, then magisk. As per instructions in magisk thread

Is someone had more luck with Magisk than me ?? I have a rooted LON-L29C432B225. Was trying Magisk 13.3 but without luck. Phone restarts automatically during magisk installation through twrp.
I have finaly made it Magisk is working without problems on Mate 9 Pro (LON-L29C432B225).
1. Install latest twrp recovery - https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-9/development/recovery-unofficial-twrp-huawei-mate-9-t3515617
2. Unroot rom, easy way i to download boot.img and flash by fastboot flash boot boot.img (https://www.dropbox.com/s/sj5su702r8omp2u/BOOT.img?dl=0)
3. Thanks to @ante0 (https://forum.xda-developers.com/member.php?u=2247733), he made a modified magisk package - https://mega.nz/#!QhMmRDgC!c3UqYIoaGtsekmJbWoP5x90spHbXVhircmmA_68s3pY
4. Flash magisk in twrp
5. After reboot you receive info about magisk update to 13.3. Mark in magisk manager settings "keep force encryption" and allow to update.
6. After next reboot you shuld have working magisk and SafetyNet status green
I hope it will help someone
On AL00 mate 9, followed the same procedure except downloading the boot.img as restored by huawei eRecovery, only unlocked the bootloader and didn't do anything else. Can install 13.2 modified version but safetynet fail, update to 13.3 with keep force encryption then bootloop. Checked the magisk log nothing seems wrong when can boot. Root works fine. Any help? Thanks
Guys any updates on Magisk v14 with xposed on our phone? fw B225
I would like to root my moto xt1575 pure to try everything to improve battery life
It is running Nougat OTA zip flashed through stock recovery
I unlocked the bootloader at Motorola's web site.
I installed adb and fastboot on my windows 10 laptop. Not all the adb commands work
I want to do the image dump that magisk requires before proceeding any further.
I used Sunshine SuperSu and xposed on my HTC one m8 vzw running kitkat 4.4.4
I apologize if this is covered elsewhere or in the wrong place. Perhaps no one has rooted a stock Moto xt1575 pure already running nougat yet. If I can't figure out how to do the image dump I'm stuck with stock. I

You say you unlocked the bootloader? Why not just flash the magisk 14.3 zip in a custom recovery? (TWRP?) That is what I would do, flash TWRP, and then flash magisk through that. To do this you are going to want to follow this tutorial http://www.droidviews.com/how-to-install-twrp-and-root-moto-x-pure-2015-xt1575/ and then once in TWRP click install -> magisk zip. Let me know if this is unlcear. But yeah install TWRP, and then flash magisk through that

I installed Magisk Manager and made a patched_boot.img but I get the error no devices/emulators found when trying to run adb commands from my laptop. I uninstalled and reinstalled the motorola driver software on my laptop. I'm just trying to go by the red letters straight off the magisk page in xda, so why doesn't it work? Must be me! LoL!
You don't need patched boot image.
Flash or boot only twrp 3.x(one version can backup stock recovery, I don't remember n°).
fastboot boot nameTwrp.img
Into twrp backup all: boot, system, data(?), recovery, esp.
Important: after backup restore boot.
Flash magisk14.zip(link is in my signature).
Reboot. @jim1sn1
Oneplus 5, Official ROM, H2OS, Android 7.1
1. First time, I followed https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-5/how-to/oneplus-5-unlock-bootloader-flash-twrp-t3624877 and successfully install TWRP and root using Supersu. I can goes into TWRP recovery without any problem. I notice that the supersu I installed in a systemless one, some apps can't get root access, like AD Away, Titanium Backup. But most apps can work with it. I used the one of the two root method in that tutorial as follows:
For Users who want to remain Encrypted:
1. Boot into TWRP Recovery and allow system modifications.
2. Swipe right and enable modifications.
3. Select your preferred Language, Tap “Never show this screen on boot again,” and Swipe allow modification.
4. Navigate to Install and select Magisk Or SuperSU to root OnePlus 5.
5. Swipe to confirm the flash
6. Reboot System

2. After several months I want to upgrade the original H2OS to new version, so I unroot in Supersu first, when it ask me if I want to recover Boot Image, I say "Yes", and say "NO" when ask me if I want to recover Recovery Image. Then I upgrade to the new H2OS v13 (Android 7.1) using the Full package through TWRP, after that I reinstall TWRP 3.2.1, it was successful. But it doesn't ask me to allow it to make modification. I tried to install Supersu 2.82 and 2.82 SR5 using the same method as in tutorial, at the end of "Booting Image patcher" it shows
.........
-Calling user ramdisk patch script
---Failure, aborting
-Unmounting /system and /vender
-Done

Then I reboot to recovery, it return to official REC, not TWRP, and system says there is no root.

Just use the latest universal codeworks recovery and flash it via fastboot.
For root i suggest use of Magisk over Su, the latest 15.3 works fine for me.
What is the codeworks recovery? Is it "twrp-3.2.1-0-cheeseburger.img" on https://twrp.me/oneplus/oneplus5.html?

No, it's the -universal- one from here https://forum.xda-developers.com/on...overy-twrp-3-2-1-0-oreo-oxygenos-5-0-t3725723
I can flash universal TWRP and Magisk 15.3. But Magisk show "SafetyNet API Error"? How to fix it?
A little background: I was rooted before updating my OnePlus 6T from system settings, then after updating (through system settings) I no longer had root and TWRP recovery so what I did was flashed TWRP following this method now I do have TWRP recovery but I am not sure which method to follow for the root process, and I have few concerns as below:
Should I flash Magisk now if so which version and which method will work for 9.0.15?
Before flashing Magisk should I flash Magisk uninstaller as well?
Do I have to flash TWRP again after flashing Magisk?
I might be asking dumb questions but I don't want to mess it up.
Greetings.
Just straight up flash the latest Magisk version, worked for me. Flash it through TWRP.
Why would you flash magisk uninstaller? I mean, I suppose it's optional?
No, you don't have to flash TWRP again.
Cheers.
Flash Magisk.
Next time, without rebooting, use Magisk mod 'TWRP A/B retention script' (search for it in Magisk modules list) just after flashing OTA via local method, and then without rebooting yet, in Magisk manager install again Magisk selecting 'other slot after OTA' option. Then only you reboot, all babies intact and in good health
I have installed latest android 10 stock rom. i tried using the magisk manager patch AP file method. i flashed the patched AP file CP BL and Twrp. tar in userdata on Odin.
TWRP 3.4.0.4 is installed but when i boot it gets stuck on samsung boot animation.
i tried flashing magisk zip from twrp and then it continuous bootloops to the Samsung bootloader image.
Do i root first stock and then install later TWRP?
Can anyone list out a short guide how to root Android 10 and aldo have TWRP with it.
I found the solution as
1. Install stock rom
2. follow root guide 1.0
3. Patch AP file with magisk manager
4. Download TWrRP App from playstore
4. Root stock rom
5 Install Twrp with the method in this link https://forum.xda-developers.com/tab-s5e/how-to/instal-twrp-p-c-galaxy-tab-s5e-sm-t720-t4072231.
6. Now I have stock rom rooted with latest twrp.
By the way also fixed device signature modified with magisk prop and busybox module and editing build prop to match device fingerprint error.
