Ive been having issues with my S5. Whenever I open the play store it crashes right away. I tried everything. Even reinstalling it.
Im going to just wipe everything and re root. I flashed NK2 kernal, but it didnt look like it changed anything. All my settings were still the same from after I tried the factory reset.
How do I install a fresh install again? I dont see the instructions or files any more. Seems like you had to go down to 4.2 then 4.4 then root.
I need to get this thing rooted again by saturday. I have a trade show this weekend. Need tethering. Ill lose a lot of money if I dont.
Thanks guys
You can check what firmware you are on NY going to recovery mode. To boot into recovery turn off your phone then hold power button home button and volume up button at the same time. Then check what firmware it says on the screen.
If you are on kitkat yes downgrade to 4.4.2 download the firmware on Sammobile. Com
Flash firmware using Odin
Then setup your device
Then root your device with towel root download
Then click make it rain and you should have root
After that try these Tethering apps
http://mashable.com/2012/08/16/free-tethering-apps/#43d31vkkSmq8
If you need bootloader unlock you can go to getex's kk-mm bootloader unlock thread on xda in s5 Verizon forum
If you are on lollipop go to Sammobile. Com and download and then flash bok3 or pb1 firmware in Odin to your phone
Then set it up and go to ok3 root forum on xda under s5 Verizon and follow jrkruses method to get root
Then try the Tethering apps from the link above
If marshmallow downgrade to ok3 or pb1 then follow the lollipop instructions from there

you can't get bootloader unlock
so go to this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/ver...ow-to-flash-custom-6-0-1-roms-locked-t3393943
with safestrap you can only flash touchwiz based roms aka close to stock roms
and you wont have root in mm roms because of your locked bootloader
and try this rom it is the best tw lollipop rom i know of http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-galaxy-s5/development/vzwstock-based-tw-rom-3-4-16-t3329029

Looking into a root for this device and found this guide: http://www.androidinfotech.com/2016/08/samsung-s5-g900v-verizon-rooted-marshmallow-firmware.html?m=1
I'm currently downloading a 1.6g firmware file that is supposed to be PF4 stock pre rooted. I have never had a root on this device and I'm not sure if this is the best method. It worries me that I see no mention of this method on XDA as this site is my usual go to for all root methods I have used before.
This will not root your device
Make a backup with Samsung smart switch or whatever way you prefer to use
Make sure to Move all important data to pc via USB cable
The best way to root is this method ok3 root method on xda under s5 Verizon section here http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-galaxy-s5/general/root-method-og5-ok3-t3290370
You will have to downgrade to lolipop ok3 or pb1 firmwares from Sam mobile.com firmware section
This will cause a soft brick boot to recovery mode and wipe data and cache
Make sure you remember Samsung account sign in info
Then it will boot set it up then go to the root thread
Linked above
Sent from my iPhone 4s using Tapatalk I also own a g900v
How do I downgrade my smg900v 6.0.1? Do I just flash an earlier rom?
Make sure you know your Samsung account sign in info Make sure you backup important data to your computer download ok3 or pb1 firmwares from sammobile. Com then then download odin just Google it then and make sure you download drivers from Verizon website then You flash pb1 or ok3 firmware in Odin to your device Make sure it in put the firmware in ap/pda slot in odin Then click start let it finish it will soft brick so boot to recovery mode and wipe data and cache Then it should boot setup and there you done
