I'm looking for an application that does as the title says. I know I've seen something like it before, or read about it, but I didnt pay much attention. Now I want it and just can't find it again.
Someone seen this?

Thanks! Exactly the one I was looking for!

There were always a few occasions when I was playing with my vibrant and noticed my brightness would increase randomly. I just figured out after some investigation, that if you slide your finger ALONG the status bar, so left to right either way, it will adjust the screen brightness. Just a tip in case anyone wasn't aware. It's really not an obvious feature to discover so I figured it might help people.
Ha, what a strange feature.
Nice find!

wow, nice response. all he was telling you that there is a link to all kinds of good and useful tips like that...
hmm, cant figure out why developers leave xda
Wasn't asking for more tips. Wasn't asking if there was a two line blurb saying this already. Posted to help out people that didn't pick up on this. I've seen a lot of complaints of brightness not being in the notification bar toggle. Compared to all the other things that are repeated over and over I don't see it necessary to tell me what's for "my own good". If you already knew, hit back and move on. If my thread was entitled "I want to learn new tricks and tips" it'd be appropriate. Besides from this one "tip" everything else in the sticky is stuff I was already aware of.

Dude, just don't title this "does everybody know...". Anyone who knows how to use this forum knows your useless trivia. You successfully informed 2 noobs about a known feature that's been threaded a dozen times already. Congrats.

LOL... Perhaps you could write the next guide for us? Should I put a "word" in quotes so it has more meaning?

Harsh!
But, yeah, this is fairly well-known. I still use auto-brightness instead, though, cuz I'm lazy like that.

good hell is it that time of the month again?
IF you/other people would read the stickies, or use the search function you/other people would have found what you were looking for. not to mention he responded with a link to the sticky that has loads of other very useful information that you may be trying to figure out, and that when you do figure out you will post a new thread for something that has already been covered in another thread that isn't that hard to find because it is stickied....

So it wastes time because my title is bad, yet you took more time from your life to post that? 2 people is still 2 people. I get more pleasure from people like you that think you're defending....I'm sorry what exactly are you defending right now? Anyone who knows how to use the forum can figure this out, yes. However anyone who has a life and doesn't read every word of every thread can find this easier. It's a feature that will be used daily. This thread will eventually go to the bottom just like all the other old thread. RELAX.

Look I found this feature on my own, accidentally, and shared it. I wasn't going to search the entire forum to see if it had been mentioned before I shared. Idiot.
Don't worry. I edited the title since everyone knows everything. Go rag on the consistent threads of people asking where to find froyo roms, lag problems, and people starting threads wondering whats wrong with their gps.

You're right. And the word "douchbagery" is definitely one of those common terms found in the word choice of an adult.
Why can't we play nice?
your new title brings even more attention to this thread, I clicked because I was curious wtf was going on in here...
so now are you not only wasting everyones times with a feature that everyone knows, but now you're also wasting my time by giving your thread a confusing title.
I hope you burn in hell.

Haha. Hey it says don't read now! Damn I can't do anything right hahaha.
Didn't want to clutter up Evil's ROM thread with general discussion, but what do people think of it so far?? I know it's a new release, so I'm sure there's stuff that's not working, but is it more or less functional? Is there anything so off that you couldn't use it as a daily?
Lol, I know I know..."just flash it yourself" - I'm planning on it! I just can't do it until later after work, and I'm excited so I just want to hear people's thought on it...in the world of rom-flashing, this is epic!!

Actually this really does belong in that thread. People usually read the thread to see how others are feeling about it.
I've never had a problem flashing any ROM before but I can't seem to get this one to work.

I see your point. I guess seeing as how I hadn't flashed it yet and was just asking a "general" question, not pertaining to any technical aspect of the rom, I didn't want to throw up a vague unhelpful post in the thread itself.
Don't know if you were just making a generalization or if it was a passive way of saying "you should read the thread" lol - but I did read the thread, and I guess I was asking more about the overall experience of it rather than "what's not working".
It's all good, I'll just continue to keep an eye on the rom's thread to gauge people's thoughts. Lol, it's crazy what android has done to me - it's turned me into a schoolgirl at a Bieber concert.

Hmm, wish I could offer some advice but like I said won't be able to flash it myself until later tonight. I'd keep an eye on the rom's thread, since several people are having the same problem, I'm sure someone will post a fix or point out the problem sooner or later.
Lol, the more this thread continues, the sillier I feel for making it. Most of the posts are just saying to check the rom's thread itself (including my own).

No No not in the least. I'm not being a about it. Just making a general statement. Sometimes a post such as the one you made can change the direction of a thread. giving it a more "feedback geared" feel to it.

I hope someone can give me some advice, or help. Please keep in mind I'm only so tech saavy. I rooted my tablet last week...was happy how easy it was. Before I downloaded Titanium though, I deleted some apps off the tablet. Today comes this OTA update. It will download just fine, but after the tablet reboots, as it starts the install, an icon with an exclamation point comes up....and nothing. I have to manually reboot, and when it comes back up I get a small "update failure" box. Otherwise, the tablet seems to be working without a hitch. any help would be appreciated on how to fix this.
there are at least 5 different threads covering how to fix this... was another really necessary?
Just do some searching for yourself.

Howdy TFordham, take a look here and see if it's any Help: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1097130

I just noticed bonzer pointed you to another thread also. Good to see there's already a bundle of the needed apps listed, so that should help you out.

Thanks guys...I have to say that a lot of this is over my head, but I'm going to work on it.
I'm sorry, im not trying to be rude, but did any of you guys read the forum rules? The first one clearly states "search before posting."
That way the forum isn't so cluttered with the same topic like it has been today...

Yep, I agree!
I have a themed facebook app, and I want to have the official one to do something since it is a little hard to see things with this theme. The apps are seen to be the same by the phone.
Is there a way I can have both apps installed at the same time? If I renamed the current app would it still work? Or what if I made one a system app?
Come on guys: nobody?
Going to bump this again
I kinda need this answered. Can anyone help?
I think it's time to go looking somewhere else for this. Have you tried the android software general forum? This question isn't specific to the DX. Or you could just TRY it and let us know what happens...

Seeing as I did try it, and said so in the op (how else would I know they are seen as the same app?) I'm not sure where you're going with that. Also, admin or not, posting unhelpful is worse than not posting at all

I thought he was being helpful. If you post this question in the General section for ALL Android apps (again, this is not specific to our phone), there would be a larger group of people viewing the question. And I think when he said to try it, he already knew you tried installing both. But have you tried your own suggestion by renaming or making one a system app?
Not trying to be a smartass, just giving my interpretation on mrkite's post. I hope you find your answer, though!

The system app way still wouldn't work because android would still recognize them as the same app so it would not work
