so i tried to flash twrp 2.5 instead of cwm, first through goo manager, and that didnt work. it said that the recovery was installed, but i booted into recovery and it was still cwm. then i tried it with fastboot, that didnt work either. any way to get around this? i even tried to erase revovery but that didnt work either. i checked if fastboot was working by doing the ./adb devices, and it said it was working, so idk what to do now.
thanks

fastboot and adb arent the same. in fastboot its.. fastboot devices. if you did a adb devices, and it saw you, then you were using adb.

start fastboot. then open a command window there, be sure that youre connected via usb and in the bootloader of your phone, type fastboot devices, check if you are visible, if you are type.. fastboot flash recovery recoveryname.img
if you want to delete the recovery, use the fastboot delete recovery command.

woot!
did it actually flash this time?!?
no, you wont be able to restore it via twrp. you can flash the stock factory img and become completely stock through fastboot. its 3 or four words only, and the files of course. but if you would want to restore your cwm backup, probably installing cwm recovery would do the trick.

So, one of my family members was mucking around on their tablet. I was sure that I has locked down the appropriate areas, but as of right now, I think I'm looking at a hard-brick. I'm not sure what kind of fastboot capabilities I have, turning it off, and on again boots to what looks like fastboot, but I have a Google splash screen. Using the vol up/down/pwr button does boot into fastboot, but I'm not sure what I have at my disposal for flashing. Any suggestions? I've just never seen anything like this before.
If you can boot into fastboot, it isn't a hard brick. A brick doesn't turn on.
Just try fastboot flashing the stock image on it from Google.

Another alternative would be to boot into recovery, if you can.
I assume you had twrp or cwm? If so, you could reflash the rom you're using. If not, you could install twrp from fastboot and then sideload a rom of your choice.

ADB push wasn't accepting anything. What I ended up doing, was using the Wug toolkit to force-flash a stock image. Still not sure what the hell happened, I'm just happy it works now.

I....*facepalm*
I had stock android installed. And I had rooted. I tried to use flashify to install TWRP, but every time it rebooted it would go into fastboot mode. well, I didn't think it would be an issue if I decided to just let the stock update run it's course instead of flashing a rom. So I had the OTA for kitkat run. The phone rebooted, and will only boot into fastboot, and download mode. I need help to get back to stock of any form, root or no root. Please? I am quite far from any repair center at a hotel for the next few days, so Wi-Fi is quite slow.

Instructions please?
When I flash twrp, should I flash a nonstock rom, or stock? Can you direct me to stock downloads.
open command prompt in ADB and execute
fastboot flash twrpls980.img
*make sure you put the downloaded image in the adb folder or you will have to include the path to where the file is located.
I was on a stock ROM when I flashed it, here you can find some stock files. http://downloads.codefi.re/autoprime/LG/LG_G2/LS980/Stock_Firmware

Can I get a link to download ADB for Windows 8? Is that all I need to type? What if I'm using a different recovery image?
What is the sprint stick rom from that download link?
sorry misread your previous post, those .zips are flashable through TWRP, here is a LS980 ZVA ROM, both odexed/deodexed, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2630748
you can flash a custom ROM if you would like, look at the thread in my signature it has tons of custom ROMs and kernels

ADB download?
Download this > http://download1983.mediafire.com/k2...loki-ls980.img
put it in your ADB folder and rename it to recovery.img ( just easier to find it )
plug the phone in
open Command Prompt in ADB folder ( hold shift + windows button in ADB folder )
fastboot flash recovery.img ( if you are using a different recovery image, sub it here, fastboot flash blank.img)
this should give you TWRP recovery, you can the use the .zips to update ROMs

All these things can be done through ADB yes. Didn't you have to download ADB to root in the first place? You shouldnt have to download again. However if you want to check start up a command prompt and type adb devices. That should pop up something if you have adb installed. I'm not sure if you need to be in a parent folder first though.

So, I have ADB installed. I am on windows 8 though, and the shift+windows button are not opening the prompt. Furthermore when I plug my phone in the computer says "windows cannot find 'C:\ Program Files (X86)\Mobogenie\Mobogenie.exe'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again" I have no clue what Mobogenie is!
Advice? if there is any for me?
Edit: I can get the ADB window open, but when I type the command "fastboot flash twrp_2.6.3.3_loki-ls980"
I get the following:
unknown partition 'twrp_2.6.3.3_loki-ls980'
error: cannot determine image filename for 'twrp_2.6.3.3_loki-ls980'
I am not sure what to do... Is the Mobogenie the issue? I have all of the proper drivers installed. though I don't see my device in computer on the laptop. Help please? I don't think I can take the device into sprint or lg, because it was rooted.
I been trying to flash twrp in fastboot. But every time I run the command to flash twrp it does nothing. I'm running marshmallow flashing twrp should work. I do have my bootloader unlocked.

I seem to recall having an issue where the fastboot command would not work. I updated my sdk and it worked.
Are you using a Windows machine or Linux. I had and issue with fastboot on Ubuntu, and eventually found a fix.
Also make sure your computer is seeing your phone in bootloader mode type... fastboot devices.

I would try the repair function. If you uninstall the Moto program, the drivers stay installed. So you would have to manually remove the drivers.......I would just try the repair function. Then make sure you have oem unlocking and usb debugging turned on in the dev options. Then try the
Code:
adb devices
command. It should return your device id.
Hi
I have been unable to find a TWRP build for my Android device (a Lenovo TB-X306F) anywhere online. I'd like to get into custom romming, which is pretty much impossible without TWRP. Does anyone know if there's a stable, reliable build of TWRP that has been tested to work with this device that carries the smallest risk of bricking my hardware or getting caught in a boot loop, and will allow me to interface with TWRP via ADB shell?
Thanks in advance!

yeah it was very easy -- download the current firmware for your tablet, extract the boot.img
install the magisk app, then run it..
copy the boot.img to the tablet, tell the app to patch it, download the patch BACK to your pc..
then put the device into fastboot, and run
fastboot flash boot boot_patched.img
BTW, I could not find a TWRP that worked with our device.. it was not necessary anyway.. flashing the boot partition was enough

Ok a bit more information for what I tried like 3 months ago
- I downloaded adb and fastboot
-adb was working fastboot was not
-i read about mtk drivers and that they are the problem I did download them but still my tablet doesn't show up in the pc (fastboot devices)
I can't get past that step
when you say that fastboot is not running, why is that?
what error do you get? you know you need to put the tablet into fastboot mode before fastboot will be useful,, right?
