I do not have that battery drain problem. In fact battery usage appears lesser than lolli. I saw some people complain about the battery drain though.
When I upgrade MM from Lolli I did clear the cache.
When I installed MM 2nd time, I did the factory reset.
In MM, Asus drops a couple of apps and add some apps that could work with MM. (I do really miss the asus mail which is no long compatible with MM)
MM has autostart manager please use it to prevent autostarting the apps that you do not use.
Also go to the app manager and disable the apps that you are not using.
That is what I did.
Do a clean wipe and see if issue still persists.
Did you disable Asus mobile manager? I did because I hate its addition to the notification bar. When I did this my battery life became awful. I then enabled Mobile Manager and my battery life is fine again (I just have to deal with the notification).
After MM official update
I found out how to reduce the memory and battery drain. Go to setting and location, click on menu on your top right corner then scanning, uncheck wifi and Bluetooth scanning! It save another 10%
Also battery problem here battery only get me one day with Android OS at 55% usage, report it already as bug cause even if the system is new without user apps it still persist for me, something woke up the phone all the time.
I disabled Locations, re-add g-account, disabled G+, and also Facebook Crap. Sad that I'm not rooted, to have a deeper look into it, but I have to send phone to service next month cause the vibration'engine' is dead. just found out that BetterBatteryStats work without root only with adb...
Attached a Screenshot right after a full load. Post second if it's empty.
After installing BBS and could watched at the stats I found the OSPM Wakelock as highest in my stats.... But why my battery is so fast drained if I'm not using the phone
With me also. I use skype like an our a day, and last night i noticed that it went from 97% to 30% in that hour. When i was on LP, it usually dropped to like 60%.
I did a factory reset before rooting the device.

Hello and thanks for reading ,
I am experiencing a very bad tablet battery life since November 2013.In these past month's i have visited forums, flash factory OS,turned off the radio(and wifi), installed many battery saving apps (didn't work), boot safe mode(drain still there), rubbed snake oil(really dangerous) and the battery still drains faster than a monsoon gutter.
Below is a screen shot of the tablet after I left it to idle for one night .

Any suggestions in solving of the problem are much appreciated and no ,i do not like 4.4.2 cause it breaks my FLAC playback (and still [email protected]% perhour)(currently running 4.3)
Thanks and regards shinra_co
I've got exactly the same problem; battery drains very quick even with airplane mode on. Tablet Idle is the culprit according to the power settings. I wonder what this means and how to solve this issue. can hardly use the tablet, i always need to recharge it.

Same here, and this just started a couple of days ago. Usually, with my usage pattern, I only needed to recharge once a week. Just over night this changed to nightly... Quite annoying.

Registering only to add my "me too" to this problem. The battery is depleted in a few hours (6 to 10) when the tablet is turned off, no sleeping, turned off, even after using the recovery menu option in order to force the power down. It is always lightly hot to the touch when it is automatically discharging, again when turned off.
This is my first Asus device and I am trying to request a refund, I don't want a new device, or a repaired one. I want my money back. I am not sure this will happen because it was bought on December, but this is not tolerable
5 Months in and various updates later (KK 4.4.4 KTU84P right now).
The battery still drain away @ 5.0 per hour minimum.
As per original post, I have still not been able to find the source of the drain.
wakelock detector, better battery stats and battery doctor have been of little help this past months.
Assuming it is not software related, what are the chances it is the hardware ie the battery itself being the culprit.
if so i think i'll wait for the rumored 8" nexus tablet.
Guys, I am getting terrible battery life on the newest BajaRom. I was getting decent battery life but somehow everything changed. I want to note that I cannot access the Media Battery Drain Fix in the BajaROM settings as it crashes EVERYTIME i open it. I have tried everything to install something that will fix media battery drain but I am unsure if this is what is really causing my battery drain. Please any help would greatly be appreciated!

Wakelock Detector and Greenify... are ur best friends on the Note 3.
Turnoff wifi, bluetooth, gps, etc when not in use. Set CPU to on demand. I always have power saver on unless I want to run a game... doesn't seem to effect anything else.
There are a ton of tips for Note 3 battery life...just search here...
I also use LUX for screen brightness, that made a big difference also. Change you wallpapers to darker colors... mine are some sort of black background...
I can make through the day with reasonable usage on Hyperdrive RLS8 and still have battery left...
Haven't tried BajaROM yet...

Thank you for your response. I have greenify'd most of my daily apps and I use wake lock detector and still cant find out the culprit here. It says that my SCREEN is taking up 30% of my battery life after just 2 hours unplugged and minimal use and I'm down to 82%. Can my phone just be inherently defective????
This DOESNT feel right. I NEVER had any complaints of battery with my NOTE 2

Check your data usage. I had the similar situation, saw nothing in the battery usage area....but then checked data usage. I had over 2 Gigs of data usage from EMAIL in only 2 weeks! I had been using the std email app...and get maybe 10 emails a day. Obviously something goofy going on in the sync. Yet battery usage showed next to nothing for the sync process or email app.
I removed my accounts from the email package, froze the email package and installed AquaMail and my battery usage cut by at least half....my data use flatlined.
Obviously it takes power to use the radio for a Gig a week of data....but that does NOT seem to show in battery usage.
so check your data usage...see if email is way out in front. That may be your problem.

I had the same issue with battery life after I flashed to and of the KK roms. My problem was Greenify, and I don't know why. Removing it didn't solve my problem so I'd restart from the beginning. My drain is less than 1% per hour idle without it and almost 10% per hour running all the same apps with greenify in different settings. Jasmine ROM just drained for me all the time.
*first post, be nice. I only joined because of all the trouble I went through to get my battery life back.
I've been experiencing serious battery drain lately.
Lasts around 6 hours tops.
Check out the stats. Anyone know how to prevent this?
Drain is almost 3:40 min / 1% discharge.

Check if your phone turns off the display after the display timeout. I have seen this happen in Moto X sometimes.. It just stays awake. Restart fixes it.
How about brightness? Set it in Auto Brightness mode. Check your Settings->Display page and check all the fields. Apart from that Screen taking 38% is surprising.

I've been having the same problem. I updated a bunch of apps yesterday, (mostly Google apps) and it the battery seems to be better today. It may be too early to tell, but I'm hoping it was one of the Google apps that draining the battery and that it was corrected with the update.
Glad to see I'm not the only one who's battery suddenly got a lot worse. I thought it was Snapchat since I had started using it recently, but the battery usage page doesn't reflect that.
One thing to check is the awake time. If you notice that your device seems to be awake all the time, I'm willing to bet that it has to do with google play services.
If rooted, there is an easy fix via gservices app on market.

I'm having the same issue. Really only getting about an hour of screen time these days. When I first got the phone it was 2+ hours. Mostly use WiFi vs cellular for data, which I thought should be more battery friendly. I make sure I don't have apps running... I'm thinking maybe my battery has just been getting weaker over time.
Here's a good read on battery wear http://batteryuniversity.com/learn/article/how_to_prolong_lithium_based_batteries
If you charge once a day like everyone the battery decreases by 15% after a year.

Brightness is already set to auto. Also, I've check the settings and display page. Its as it should. I wiped out cache partition and it improved a little. Though I didn't saw significant change by doing that. It still runs for max 6-7 hours. That's it.

Doesn't actually do anything. People need to stop facilitating this dumb myth.
Google said:
This file [batterystats.bin] is used to maintain, across reboots, low-level data about the kinds of operations the device and your apps are doing between battery changes. That is, it is solely used to compute the blame for battery usage shown in the "Battery Use" UI in settings. That is, it has deeply significant things like "app X held a wake lock for 2 minutes" and "the screen was on at 60% brightness for 10 minutes."
It has no impact on the current battery level shown to you. It has no impact on your battery life.

May be u need to calibrate your battery. Try to put the phone in charge and let it reach 100% and post that dont remove the charger for 4-5 hours. This is a method to calibrate. Try this and lets see if it helps.
And, I see that you are in H+.. Try using your phone in 2G for a day and observe the battery patterns.
You should clean battery stats from recovery.. Have you tried this?
Mine will drain fast but then it will sit at 1% for several hours before finally shutting off. I have not found a fix and it's been going on for a few months now.

u let the battery die out then recharge to full without switching it on. Once complete boot the phone and when booting is complete then remove the charging cable.
What the heck. I'm on pure nexus , custom elementalx kernel and some tweaks here and there , and this afternoon I was driving of the highway and felt that my phone was getting a bit hot , as if it was on. Looked at the screen and nothing , it was off , nothing was running. After like , 1 hours , I came back home , looked at my phone and the battery was like on 30% , when I was previously on 50 some .. Just look at this graphic and tell me what you think of this. I force stopped the app from running , cleaned the cache and data. What's going on with Google app ?

Go into Settings / Accounts / Google and see if it shows any sync errors. You also might want to disable sync for any services that you don't use.
I have the same problem with the recent 7.1.2 beta update. The phone doesn't last for more than 4 hours in idle (stand by) state.

Ok, do you know what is draining your battery...Google App? On my phone in just over 6 hours Google App has only used 1% battery, calculated at 20 mAh. Assuming you have a known good battery (eg. capacity >85%) it may be time for a factory reset? If you don't know what state your battery is in, try running Accubattery for a few days to get an estimated capacity of the battery vs. design. I'm running 7.1.2 Beta 2 and only losing 0.3%/hour (standby overnight) per BBS. Lost 3% battery last night over 9 hours. Stock ROM, rooted, EX kernel. My battery shows 97% capacity using Accubattery.
I had very poor battery life on 7.1.2 on the stock kernel unrooted and ended up rooting and going back to a custom Rom and kernel. I don't suppose you checked the stock kernel settings before flashing ExKernel? Stock based Roms based on the latest Google images have been reporting bad battery drain. I think Google has started using default kernel settings that are causing battery drain and if you aren't rooted and using a custom kernel there's nothing you can do about it.
I have no battery problem after flashing factory 7.1.2 DP2 including factory reset. Quite the opposite actually. All sync, backup, high precision localisation, Google photos , etc.. enabled. And most of the time on 3G or LTE.

install better battery stats, give it permissions via ADB.
Then monitor a full charge and see what partial wakelocks, alarms, processes are using your battery.

Hi I did, how you told.
I charged the phone up to 100% and left for 30 minutes without any use and captured following screenshots.
Do I understand correctly that the phone is always awake because of the lg gnss bloatware?
are you getting same battery life on lte and wifi
your lte signal looking too low
if it fluctuate a lot then it will take a lot of battery .
0% deep sleep
I don't mean to be glib, but the advice for battery issues is always the same (and mind-numbing basic):
1. Remove unnecessary apps
2. Factory reset the phone
None of the dozens of other tweaks mentioned here make a difference for most people.
And you can't do anything about signal strength.

I supposed that all the tweaks can barely help. I had hope that I could find some fix before reset the factory settings. In some way the phone is to be used and it is simply annoing the set the whole setting from scratch after reset....
But I think I don't have any other possibility (or I can wait for a Pie and hope for the improvement after the update)

Try to disable the WIFI and Bluetooth searching for improve the location. And then do again the test to see the deep sleep.
With accubattery app, you can estimate how"healthy" your battery is.
In normal usage, you would get about 18% of battery usage per hour with screen on, and max 1% with screen off
I made some tests with AccuBattery and the drain on screen on is unacceptable about 25-28%. The battery health is about 96%.
I use mcs magisk module with 90/80% config since day one with greenify + xposed module and after a year of relatively heavy use I'm still getting ~6h SoT (35% brightness). Maybe you should try to greenify some apps? Without root you have limited options though.
