I'm starting to see several scratches on the screen already, there are a couple of tiny scratches on the back of the phone as well. The thing is that I have not dropped this phone yet! nor have I placed it in my pocket along with keys and coins... I am very meticulous about my gadgets and take good care of them but I have no idea how these scratches got on this phone?! anyone else having this issue?
The back of this phone is probably a glassy material u need to be careful with that obviously.. Buy a back cover
Sent from my YU5010 using Tapatalk
I noticed that too. Have been careful but still got some little scratches on the screen
Yeah .. U can get a tempered glass for your phone's back part
Sent from my YU5010 using Tapatalk
Yeeaah, I already got a tiny crack.. On the top of the screen and the bottom from a very minor fall actually.. It's not the strongest of screens indeed. It never had any gorilla glass if I recall correctly, right? Anyone have suggestion on a good screen protector and something for the back too?
just noticed the same on mine. its always in a case in an empty pocket. never dropped and never had anything touch the screen. If it gets really bad in the next 3 months, smash the screen.
Lol the scratches just keep appearing all over my screen and the back of the phone... I HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA how this is happening! I have OCD, I treat my phones like delicate jewelries lol and no I do not want to put this beautiful phone in an ugly case...

My screen too is becoming full of these tiny scratches.. This phone only left home once. This is way too fragile. Disapponted
Can confirm, I've got several scratches on the back of the phone. Got it for one week. I'm always carrying it in my backpack in a small pocket there without keys and such. I was always placing it on a cloth or a paper. Shame it got scratched so fast. My guess is that they did the same as sony and applied an anti shatter sticker on top of anti scratch glass and that's why it gets scratched so easily. I'm really disappointed with this because I don't want to put such a beautiful phone into a case.
One more, but only in the back. And my case is coming yet...?

Use a tampered glass for front and a transparent case for the back.

We should contact dBrand to make skins for Honor 8. If they'll get enough requests they'll release its skins, which will protect the glassy back.

It's because of this I bought a "case-mate barely there" case.
I've never had a case before and didn't want one for this phone because I didn't want to loose the thinness either. Very glad I did though. The phone is still very thin and (on the black case) has a nice matt, slightly grippy texture which I personally find preferable to the standard backing.

Looks real good, but it's a little expensive, is it worth it?
is the touch still fully functional now ?
I see this thread and shake my head.
Getting a decent case is the first step to protecting a phone that you just spend a lot of money on. It might make it a little less thinner, but it will offer better grip and allows you stop babying every time you set in the table.
As for the dude that broke the glass, that was probably like the one weak spot. GorillaGlass isn't supposed to scratch or crack. Just avoid putting the phone in the same pocket as your keys and you shouldn't need to waste money on a screen protector.
This thread is painful.

gorilla glass is NOT scratch proof, keys won't damage the screen but dust will , the kind of dust/dirt that it's usually on people's pockets
I only ever keep it in a pocket without keys or anything else so never worry about a case.
The phone was on the floor next to my chair charging up while i was watching tv, knocked a fork off the coffee table and you guessed it, right on the phone.
No screen protector is gonna protect against that happening lol.
Everything is working fine actually. just feels a bit iffy when sliding over the long cracks in the glass.
Will be going in for new screen under insurance claim as soon as i been on my hols. so stuck with it like this for a few weeks.
Where can I get one from?
I was reading some threads people were getting scratches just laying it on a table and what not. i still have the plastic it came with, but now for me its coming off and i wont have a case here anytime soon.
How is your back holding up with you guys just keeping it naked? still crystal clear? i had an iP4 but it was always cased up.
Mine is good, but I also haven't put it to real world use yet. I will probably get a case whenever better options are available. I did just harder that Spigen screen protector though.

yea i feel the same way but due to the place i work at an automotive shop i keep my phone in my front shirt pocket. sometimes when i bend down it tends to slip out and i feel only thing that will protect that is a otter box or some sort of hard case.

Hi Guys,
So i bought a Tech 21 evo frame for my edge but the phone feels so nice and looks so stunning without a case, is anyone rocking It naked?
(Meaning the phone itself lol)
I have tried, but there is nowhere to put the phone when your not using it, plus it can get pretty cold sometimes.
The lateral grip is so bad (slippery, narrow) that I think it's guaranteed you will drop the phone if used without any case.
I'm currently using it without case and will go on that way, I'll most likely just get a skin for the back to avoid scratches and get slightly better grip.

Using naked with a ScreenKnight protector on it. I have a Spigen Neo Hybrid for it but it makes it too bulky....
Kinda worried about dropping it though, especially after paying so much for it.
Going to be using an otter box symmetry once my zagg screen protector dries up.
Bought a cheap Best Buy store brand clear gel case for it, adds grip but keeps the look of the phone. No screen protector until a glass version.
Naked for me, I do what to get a screen protector for the front though. Just worried about scratches causing issue's when using the vr.
Seems a shame that a manufacturer spends so much time perfecting the design to look and feel this good when the majority of people just stick a case and screen protector on.
Obviously I know it's an expensive and great device to own and we don't wanna risk scratching or smashing it.
Just saying...
I like to live life on the "edge." No case or screen/back protector for me. Ran for 14 months with a naked Note 4 and only dropped it twice with minimal bezel damage. The trick is to have no friends and stay in your house/office all the time...

True Story;
Woke up on day two with my new Galaxy S7 Edge and grabbed it off my nightstand in the dark bedroom to start my morning routine. I am embarrassed to admit that I sat there for the better part of 30 seconds trying to turn the screen on only to find that I was holding the phone upside down and it was illuminating my palm. The phone is curved nearly the same on the front and back and the glass on both sides really confuses the senses. I doubt I will do it again but I laughed so hard at myself.
It is a beautiful and well curved phone that shouldn't be hidden. For the same price as an Otterbox Defender you can get a year of SquareTrade Insurance and let them handle the worrying. Thankfully I don't see myself filing a claim for a toilet drop like with my Note 3 since this one's water proof; just as long as I fish it out before 30 minutes.
Yes, but I will purchase insurance.

Has anyone looked for, or found, a replacement for the top plastic layer of the phone? I don't need one right now, but as my plastic layer is gathering scratches I'll want to replace it eventually.

Once you have a new display, to avoid future scratches,, look into buying the "flexible" glass protector product from VZW...its the one made by vzw, make sure it says "flexible".
You will not even be able to tell when it is on the Z Force.

No concerns about voiding the shatterproof warranty? Any better than just applying the pleson on top of the shattershield plastic? Still happy with the result?
I would like to know how that went. You were able to just use a straight razor and shave off the plastic? Did it damage the glass underneath at all? I can't stand this plastic!
I've never quite understood the appeal of glass screen protectors (well, aside from just liking the feel of glass), especially on a phone with a Shattershield display like ours. Why protect an unbreakable screen with a breakable screen protector???
I've used soft military-grade clear film protectors on the last 4 or 5 phones I've had, and I acknowledge that they feel different than glass, but after years with them, I'm guess I'm just used to it . I don't really miss the feel of glass. The way I look at it, this way I protect my unbreakable-but-plastic screen from scratches, and I never have to worry about cracking my protector. I've also found that they generally fit WAY better than glass ones, which rarely seem to go edge-to-edge. Just personal preference, I guess.
I've been very partial to Skinomi's TechSkin protectors. They fit like a dream, they're easy to apply (YES, the micro bubbles sometimes take a day or two to fully disappear, but they will!), and their warranty is great. I'm aware this doesn't really answer your question, but while you're waiting for the SS replacement layers to become available, I bet if you threw one of these on your phone, it would "cover up" the scratches you're accumulating while not having to add a thick, breakable layer to your phone. Just my two cents!

I had to take my skinomi off my phone because it had become so discolored from my jeans. Now I'm wondering if I should get another and have to replace it down the road as well from the same issue or go without. I want to know though if other users of the white model have noticed discoloration? I'd rather end up with blue skins than a blue phone, but if going naked avoids it altogether that'd be cool. Thanks

The phone looks nice naked but the aluminum body is prone to dents and dings if you aren't careful with the phone. When I was looking at used ones on EBay last summer it was hard to find one without dings, dents or scratches on the body.

I'm not too worried about that since I've been using the phone with nothing but a bumper and skin since it was released and it still looks pristine other than my skin getting discolored. Though I will say the issues you mentioned is one reason I still prefer plastic to metal phones.

Yeah, just to loosen the glue, I don't remember it being too difficult. I used a hair dryer just because I wasn't at work. Also an easy way to get the glass and trim off are to use a razor blade put in at the antenna band and gently pry, must use heat!
