Hi Everyone,
Im coming from a LG G4 and i want a stable ROM for my Nexus 6P as a daily driver. The mobile phone is now unlocked and rooted and i am good 2 go. Shall i wait for the Custom N ROMS or do you have other advice to stick for another custom rom that is working with marshmallow?
Thanks in advance.
I'd definitely wait on moving to Nougat ATM. Until Google posts the factory image for Nougat you won't see many N based Roms.
But on MM I'd definitely recommend checking out Pure Nexus ROM also referred to as (PN).
I got my 6P in January and only tried two different Roms and Chroma was the first and it lasted for about 3 weeks didn't care for it so I then went to Pure Nexus and been on PN from February all this time until 2 weeks ago when I decided to take the OTA update to N..
That's how happy I was with PN.
When PN posts the N Rom then I will go back until then I'm staying on N ?

Hello all,
I've had my Nexus 4 for over 2 years now and had an S1 since Android 2.2 (Froyo). I've tried Lollipop when it was first ported and multiple times after that. However, I never seemed to like it's new UI, the sound management, and many more things.
I've created this thread to see if anyone agrees with me and would like to provide their opinion.

I hate lollipop too!
Kitkat fan here
I owned nexus 4 two days ago, it was on 5.0.1 and i really love it! I rooted it today and flashed twrp then i flashed panaroid 4.4.4 rom. YOU KNOW WHAT? I flashed back the stock lollipop (backup). I think lollipop is the best! And i am now downloading latest cm 12 nightlies just to check it!
Lollipop is the best specially in my nexus 4
EDIT: CM12 nightlie is amazing (lollipop), now using cm12
You just can't compare the user experience (not just talking about the UI) with any other previous android version. It's just miles ahead and I can say we've finally got a completely mature OS.
Lollipop fan here, and I've been using the green robot for four years as well.
I'll take a slightly broken Lollypop over a stale candy bar or rotten Apple any day
I have a good impression about lollipop in general..i.ll like to try some kk roms but i found that incons are too big..maybe i need to use anither launcher..i dont know..anyway , lollipop is fine..i.m ok with it
Hated It
I tried lollipop for a week, Flashed back my CM11 4.4.4 That is my favorite ROM .
I just recently got my Moto X Pure Edition about a few months ago and have been loving it ever since. I signed up for MFN and got my Marshmallow update on my phone as well. I was wondering should I root my Moto X Pure Edition? I had a HTC One M8 and rooted that as well and enjoyed the customizations with XPOSED as well as the Sense Tool Box and whatnot. My question is should I root? Or should I wait to root?
Also will my warranty be voided? As in if I break my phone will they send me a new one, or should I wait a year before rooting?
IMHO, with all them things you mentioned that requires root for customization there is no reason to root at this moment. This device doesn't have custom roms that's worth rooting. No official CM support, no other DEV teams are developing for this device (let me know if I'm wrong?). I am optimistic that it will pick up soon, but as backup I ordered OnePlus X to play with so I can start flashing. All my previous devices were rooted and had plenty of roms and kernel to try. We have plenty of problems with MM. We need custom roms with tweaks to pinpoint these problems with lag and devices acting up. This device is universal. You would think support will be hot from the start. I will give it couple of months more to pickup. If nothing develops, I will move on or go back to OnePlus one.
My OnePlus one with custom rom is better than MXPE stock in every way. Let see what custom MXPE rom can bring to the table?

Hello guys, after my G4 has done ("suicide") I'm now with my old Nexus 4, just updated it from 4.4.4 to 5.0.1, as I understand this is the last official firmware for this device.
I don't know if because I've used a faster devices but this one is so lagging, stuck... I want any recommendation of a great ROM that make it a SUPER again
thanks in advance!
Try cm13 official or chroma.
Nougat roms are fine too but still there are few little bugs that need to be sorted out.
Performance wise, yes they are fast.

Fake Nexus 6.0 + root
Stable, fast and nexus stock feeling.
After the battery exploded on my Nexus 4, I got a Moto G (2015); around the same general price point. I then was able to repair the Nexus 4, but much like your experience I it was really painful to use after using the much speedier Moto G. I highly doubt you can make it "super" though. Chroma helped in the speed department and is super stable, but it is no longer supported (No more updates). I just keep the phone as an emergency backup (No cell plan). I am probably going to move to CM 13 next just so I get timely security updates, but I can't speak about the speed because I never used it. I would really like to go with CM 14 so I don't have to do this twice, but I would rather wait for the official release, as stability is most important to me.

There is no possibility that the ROM was tailored for everyone.
People have different preferences and are looking for different qualities.
People will tell you:
(...) ROM is fast, (...) ROM is stable!
The truth is that all the ROMs contain errors. It is the human factor.
If you test several that you know best.
I hard reset the device, now got new FOTA few official updates to 5.1.1 build LMY48T
I guess its the last official update by google for this device.
After the hard reset the device run smooth and fast (maybe the update from 4.4.4 to 5.0.1 without hard reset caused a the issue)
Try pure nexus
Hello
I've dug my old N4 for some use while my current device is in for a repair. Been a few years since I last used it. Madhi rom was the last one I flashed, oh yeah the good old days.
Can anyone suggest a stable and battery consistent rom that has status bar tweaks that allow the battery icon colour to be changed (or the icons individually)? I'd prefer Lollipop which is probably the most stable as I'd be using this as a daily driver and not looking for FCs every now and then!
Also would like the latest CM theme engine with the rom.
Resurrection Remix on my HTC fitted the bill, but does the N4 version have the same features, and the N4 version I found is Marshmallow based.
Apologies, I know these type of threads are not popular
Cm 12.1 is available for n4

Have Nougat roms stabilised enough to be useful as daily drivers without too many crashes? I appreciate the N4 is an antique these days and we're lucky enough to have Marshmallow, let alone Nougat!
Had a feeling battery would be poor on Nougat roms compared to Lollipop or even Kitkat? Thanks,
Nitrogen os rom is very stable best nougat rom chroma is best for marshmallow and I like cm12.1 for lollipop personally
Thanks for that, would you say they all offer similar battery life?
Yes I would say that

I have upgraded to OnePlus 6 for a while now and have finally retired my OPO. My OPO is one of the early builds as it still has cyanogen logo on back. I bought this in Jan/Feb 2015 and have been using it since then. I haven't had any issues with phone, haven't replaced anything (although I am planning to replace the battery before handing it over to my parents), the phone is unrooted and running the last OTA update that was provided.
Based on the info above, do u guys have any good ROMs to suggest for my parents. They aren't too tech savy so probably some ROM that provides OTA updates and doesn't crash would be the best. Also, higher the android version, the better it is(if working stable).
I am comfortable enough unlocking bootloader, installing custom recovery, rooting, etc but I just want to give something to my parent's thats stable, better than stock, and keeps the phone from getting outdated.
Thanks for your answers!
