Hi,
I know that there is an version with band 20 enabled. But its only a version with 64Gb internal and 4Gb of ram. So is there a actuell hardware difference or is it just a software/licensing thing. So there is version with band 20 enabled and a version without would it be possible the see the difference in software and "simply" flash it to enable band 20? And would it be possible to do this on the more powerful version with 128gb and 6 gb of ram?
Sorry for my english.

Someone flashed the A2017G (European/Global) firmware onto a North American A2017U. It broke the modem. Only way to fix it was to flash the A2017U modem, so there seems to be a hardware difference at least between the G and U versions. Unsure about the Chinese version.

Umm, the EU model does have capacitive buttons. Not sure where you've got your info from
I'd recommend the US version of the phone purely because of the support from ZTE to that market. The additional features on the 6GB china version like force touch doesn't justify the trouble you may face from a software perspective. Go with the US version if you can.
My bad
checked amazon germany it has Capacitive button
Thanks for your suggestion
but us model doesnt support b40 lte band
this is the only thing backing be from buying this model
else this thread wouldnt have appeared
in 2017G ,stock rom of 2017u can be flashed?
I suppose you can flash the ROMs interchangeably but I've read that some had some functionalities missing . You can follow @DrakenFX ROM thread which has all the info you need. Considering the EU variant doesn't have an unlocked boot loader yet, flashing ROMs isn't the straightforward solution, let alone flashing a ROM not meant for that variant.
On a side note, the EU one albiet costly, has a 3 year warranty. Of course you and me, cant avail that anyway.
The US is suppose to get the 6GB model in the 4th quarter I think.
I want to buy a Yotaphone 2 and I plan to install a custom ROM (CM). Is it better to buy the YD201 or YD206? And do chinese verisons have a different hardware?
YD201 and YD206 differ only in radio. The other has different 4G LTE bands than the other. It would be wise to buy YD201 because of the wider support for 4G bands. As far as I know there are no other hardware differences.
Where do you plan on finding CM for YotaPhone? There shouldn't be any available.
I thought YD has USB 2.0 and YD206 has USB 3.0. Is this right?
About CM: Indeed there's no version. I confused something. I would like to have Android 5.0 on the phone. Is this possible for BOTH?

Both have the same micro usb port. And yes, you can flash Android 5.0 on both.
Get the 201
Get the 201, less hastle out of the box.
I own both models, a 201 and 206. The only difference is in the supported LTE bands. So far, there has been no real evidence if it can be changed by software or if it really is hardware related. You can check LTE support on https://www.frequencycheck.com/, both models are listed.
Any Yotaphone 2 rom can be flashed on both models using the yotaflasher, I just updated my YD206 to the latest russian version that way. So if 3G mobile data is enough or your provider is using the right LTE bands anyway, a 206 is fine.

The 201 can update to Lolipop without being flashed. The 206 can't be updated out of the box.

Yes, the 206 can not be updated 'over-the-air'. You need to use the Yotaphone Flasher to update. Not a big deal, there are plenty instructions out there.
As far as I know, there are 3 versions of the Axon 7:
A2017 (Chinese Version)
A2017U (US / North American Version)
A2017G (Global / European Version)
Only A2017G has LTE band 20 which is very important here in Europe.
Unfortunately the more powerful hardware with 6 GB RAM and 128 GB Flash is only available in China.
Of course I can buy the phone from aliexpress or similar website in Chinese Version. But is there a way to flash a A2017G ROM (including modem) to the A2017 version and get a fully functional European version including full LTE bands but now with more powerful hardware?
i would also like to know. i have the A2017 bought from aliexpress, and i live in Japan. I need to upgrade to the A2017G modem, as my reception has gone to **** since the B15 update. Marshmellow firmware had much better reception. Its that or wait until the next flashable firmware update.
Good luck to us both
I would also like to know too! But after searching on xda and other sites. I don't think this is do-able. T_T
I started to try the qcn method but it does not work for me unless someone can share the original qcn file of axon7 A2017G or A2017G
In my case I need to activate band 8.
My axon is Chinese only has FDD LTE band 1,3,7
I am using ZE520KL Taiwan version. However, my it cannot support my Canadian carrier (Koodo) LTE network. Knowing the two model pretty much have the same spec (excepting screen size and ram), I am guessing if I can manage to flash the kernel from USA/Brazil/Canada ZE520KL, then the LTE maybe work somehow?
Suggestion? Help?
That'll just brick the phone, I'd think. That's what happened when I tried flashing the Canadian modem on my Canadian ZE552KL after flashing the WW ROM from ASUS' website.

It won't work even it was possible to make it boot with this kernel.
Had anyone who doesnt have the Global Version tried to change the LTE Band with the Snapdragon software tools? If you haven't heard or tried this just search Unlock LTE Bands in XDA main search. Because I'm think its going to be much cheaper to by the Chinese version that is like only 343USD for 6gb of RAM and 128 ROM and unlock the bands. Any thoughts? Thanks.
Changing the bands with QPST or QXDM can be done but it has no effect on functionality.
Some software will see these bands as unlocked but the phone itself can not make use of them. You might also run into some trouble on MIUI though custom roms seem more flexible with this.
At the moment there is no way to convert a CN (band restricted) model into a Global model (no band restrictions).
Hi, somebody has any news ?
for conversion(activate ) band 20 in Xiaomi Note 2 ?
thank you
This is very important topic I think. What I find really weird that the firmware files (modem) and rom are the same no matter which version you have...
On redmi note 3, kate and kenzo have different rom and different modem files. Its really weird here.
