Honor 5x Camera Tips and Tricks
On the surface, the camera app on the Honor 5x might seem like a basic setup, but there are tons of settings, modes and filters to play around with to get the perfect shot. Check out these tips to get you started.
Video Resolution
While the 5x is capable of shooting at 1080p, by default it's set to 720p. To change this, swipe over to filming mode then press the menu button and go to settings. From there, you'll be able to bump the resolution up to 1080p.

Photo Settings
There's a lot of really important photo settings that you might have missed. They aren't accessible from your main screen, so you have to go through the settings. In the settings you'll find resolution, timer, object tracking, volume button function, image adjustment and a bunch of other features.
Ultra Snapshot
Enable Ultra Snapshot to let you launch your camera app by double pressing the volume down key. You can set this to launch your camera and also immediately take a snapshot.
Touch & Hold Shutter Button
The burst mode isn't really something I use very much. Luckily you are able to change the action that is tied to pressing and holding the shutter button. I have it set to focus instead.
If you have any other tips for using the camera, let me know in the comments. There are so many features that it can be easy to overlook some.

It's better to provide screenshots rather than photos of the phone, thanks the post

All,
I find the camera the only aspect of the TouchHD that is annoying!
Symptoms:
I have turned on and off the autofocus and still when I take photos of people who are moving they end up blurry!
I have ready other threads that cover this in more detail, but I wonder if there are any fixes people could post here? I used to have a Trinity and this took a photo instantly and never had any issues other than being at 2 x mega pixels!
Solution(?):
What I think is needed is to a) turn off auto focus b) a reg hack (anyone) that turns off the 3 second snap delay.
Cheers
Dave
i share your frustration. with a camera of this many megapixels you should be able to do much more. Would love for someone to expand on this
Megapixel count is meaningless on a cameraphone sensor size. What's really needed is a properly designed 3mpixel unit - anything more than that and you destroy the ability to take pics in anything except bright outdoors.
If you are disabling the focussing ability then what do you expect other than blurry pictures? Or am I completely missing something here?
to shot at moving people try enabling this secret camera mode, sport should be perfect for this

How on Earth did you manage to do this????
Check for a key named CapKeyDelay (there will be a few, named similarly) under HTC\Camera in the registry. Setting them all to 0 will make the camera take the picture immediately after focusing.
does taking the 'review duration' off help?
The problem is the software for sure, as the camera, apart from not having a flash, is not bad at all. Unfortunately, I checked Advanced Configuration Tool and it says that the capture delay is disabled already, meaning the delay really originates from the camera software itself. I doubt a registry change can fix it.

Well, there's a key named EnableCapKeyDelay, with a value of 0, so changing CapKeyDelayTime values didn't change anything here.
In addition to that, "after focusing" is not a solution - a "focus-free" mode (setting focus to infinity) would solve at least part of the camera problem.

This setting is to define for how long the photo will stay on screen after capturing to be able to delete it etc., so no effect on picture taking.

Indeed. The issue though is which part of the software - the driver, the part that's accessible to the user, or code within the camera chip or something obscure/inaccessible like that.
BTW, what does this "capture key delay" do?
Is the camera quicker if you lower the resolution? I had a Nokia where this was the case.

It will write the file quicker for sure, but won't reduce exposure time or focusing time, which create the pain and cause blurry pictures and missed moments.

Hello,
Have you progress on this problem ? I would like remove this autofocus !
nope still sucks
This happened with SuperGalaxy and now with cnote74's CM10.1. With flash on auto it seems most of the time flash is out of sync with shutter, when shutter goes off the flash is almost over.

When flash is set to on the shutter and flash work as should. Dont know if it's just me or if its has happened to others, it does this on both roms. Could this just be a limitation of my phone to sync all the actions,or issue in kernal. Actions in both roms: Tap to take picture, first flash goes off, screen turns green??, second flash goes off, seems to be a lag(flash set to auto), shutter goes off, and pic comes out as shown above. This happens in SuperGalaxy( 57 and 58 kernal) and CM10.1(59 kernel--minuse green line in 5mp). Will attempt to get a logcat and post later, going to sleep now.
Doesn't happen for me. It looks like the right half of your picture is illuminated, while the left isn't. Since these devices use a rolling shutter, that makes sense. Did you somehow force a long exposure time perhaps?
That's a nice looking cat. Got any more pics?
Checked settings they are at default. On average, I take 6 pictures 4 come out good- 1 with shadow like above picture- 1 missed the flash, flash on auto. It happens more often when taking pictures portrait style compared to landscape. Also when holding in portrait, I get a green overlay when taking picture, don't get this green overlay when holding in landscape. ????? Could my camera be on its way out.

I think maybe the problem could be with the custom settings that those roms have for the screen rendering.. I would go into the app settings menu (from the system settings app) and wipe the data for the camera.. Once you do that make sure you have the default setup inside the camera app settings.. Check in the cm settings and be sure there isn't any of the screen rendering settings enabled for changing the hue of the screen tint.. Also,, do you use the development menu in settings??.. If so,, check out the force gpu rendering and the disable hardware overlays options and see if they have anything to do with it.. Troubleshoot the problem is the best I can figure..

Well have gone through the settings and still continues to do this with flash on auto, only when the flash goes off. If the flash is not needed the picture comes out good. Thinking now this just might be my phone struggling to sometimes sync the double flash and shutter in jelly bean. Started when first went to SuperGalaxy(4.1), and continues in CM10.1. This did not happen when using asopX or venom, might drop back to see if it continues in ICS.

Accessibility options are designed to make your device easier to use — while normally associated with making Android more approachable for the elderly or for helping the physically disabled, anyone can benefit from checking out some of these lesser-known settings. Let’s check out what Android has been hiding.
1. Services
1.1 Talkback: Google Talkback will give you verbal, audio, and vibration cues by acting as a built-in screen reader. It's perfect for the visually impaired.
Steps to enable feature:
- Go to settings >Accessibility .
- Select Talkback .
- Click on Talkback settings to set volume , keyboard echo , touch exploration etc.
- After you enable this feature it will give you verbal cues for each action.

"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Steps to disable feature:
- long press on power button then to disable this feature touch and hold the screen with fingers for more than 3 seconds
1.2 Switch Access: It allows you to configure hard buttons to perform certain tasks to enable better navigation for the visually impaired and makes a pretty powerful tool when paired up with Talkback.
Users can assign hard keys for different tasks.
2. System
2.1 Captions: Enables the system wide closed caption system for videos. It allows videos to display captions based on the parameters decided upon here, and you can change the text size and color within set parameters.
2.2 Magnification Gestures: Magnifies the entire system UI. Activate by triple-tapping on the display inside any apps on the device, pan around using a two-finger drag and zoom in/out further using pinch-to-zoom.
2.3 Power button ends call: When this setting is enabled, you can simply press your device's power button to end a call. This setting can make it faster and easier to hang up
2.4 Speak Passwords: Exactly what it says it does. Use only if you really, really need to use it and please use it with caution even then.
2.5 Accessibility shortcut: This will allow you to quickly enable accessibility features, even while the device is locked.
Step 1: press and hold the power button until you hear a sound or feel a vibration.
Step 2: Touch and hold two fingers until you hear audio confirmation
2.6 Text to Speech: This allows you to choose the text-to-speech engine of your choice, where Google's is the default. Even then you've got languages to choose from and the quality of sound you want to hear.
2.7 Touch and Hold Delays: For those with dexterity issues, how long you need to press and hold to complete actions could be an issue. This allows you to alter the duration required to three different settings.
3. Display
3.1 Color Inversion: This feature flip the entire device color scheme to the inverse. It works across the whole system UI and inside all applications.
3.2 Color Correction: There are options to change the display mode based on different types of color blindness:
Deuteranomaly (red-green)
Protanaomaly (red-green)
Tritanomaly (blue-yellow)
Screenshots taken and shared in any of these display modes will not reflect the changes you've made, so anyone else will be able to view them without any changes.
To enable or disable the abovesettings, follow these steps:
1. Go to Settings > Accessibility.
2. Select any Option you want from the above .
I hope I've sparked your interest enough to encourage you to check them out for yourself because there's some truly great stuff in there, whether you think you need it or not.
Screen recording on Android devices is pretty simple. You can usually pull down the quick settings menu on any type of phone, and access your screen recording option there. With the OPPO Find X5 Pro, there are a few extra settings that allow you to get the most out of your screen recording tool. In this thread, I'll show you everything you need to know about screen recording on the OPPO Find X5 Pro.
Screen recording files are saved in the /storage/emulated/0/Pictures/Screenshots/ directory. Each file name begins with "Record" followed by the date and time of the recording.
How to Screen RecordThe OPPO Find X5 Pro has the ability to screen record without the need for any third-party apps.
Swipe down twice from the top of your phone to access the quick settings menu.
Select the Screen recording option.
Begin recording by pressing the red circle on the popup menu.
Stop or pause the recording using the red stop square or the pause icon.

Change Audio Recording SettingsWhen it comes to your audio settings, you might want to change which audio is recorded, based on the situation. For example, if you are recording a gaming video, you can record both your system sounds and your microphone audio to add your own commentary to the gameplay. You can toggle off your microphone audio for things like screen recording a video that you'd like to save to your phone.
Swipe down twice from the top of your phone to access the quick settings menu.
Select the Screen recording option.
Select the settings icon from the popup menu.
Toggle Record system sound and Record microphone sound.
More Screen Recording SettingsWithin ColorOS 12.1 there is another settings menu that lets you access even more options for your screen recorder. Access this menu by going to Settings > Special features > Screen recording. In this menu, you can change the resolution and bitrate from the default settings. Use a preset configuration or set a custom one. You can record in a max resolution of 2k, and a bitrate of 32 Mbps.
The standard mode for your frame rate is dynamic. This will adjust the recording frame rate based on the content being recorded. You can change this and set your own preferred frame rate, with a max of 60 fps.
You can also find settings for these features, in the same screen recording menu:
Show screen touches
Record front camera video
Video coding format
Now you know everything there is to know about screen recording on the OPPO Find X5 Pro.

We often judge a smartphone camera by its ability to take photos in dark environments. This is notoriously the most difficult type of photo for a smartphone to take, with massive improvements being made in recent years. With the OPPO Find X5 Pro, night shots are looking better than ever as it's arguably the best phone for low-light photography. In this thread, I'm going to show you how to get the best night shots possible, on your Find X5 Pro.
Night ModeNight mode is a great way to easily get night shots without having to mess with a lot of settings. The default configuration for night mode results in some really great-looking photos. However, the key the using night mode effectively is by keeping your camera as still as possible while your phone processes the image. Look for the tripod icon in the corner of the screen to activate tripod mode. This will make your phone open your camera shutter for longer, letting more light into the sensor. Stability is key here, as any little vibrations can add blurriness to your shot. So make sure you have a rock-solid tripod to use with your phone.

}
To maximize these shots, I always use the 10-bit color mode which can be activated in settings. 10-bit color does work with night mode, so I tend to keep it on at all times.
Pro ModeIf you have a little more knowledge about photography and camera settings, you might feel more confident in PRO mode. This mode gives you manual control over all of your camera settings. Fine-tune your ISO and shutter speed for more complicated shots like night sky and city skylines.
Pro Mode also lets you shoot in RAW, giving you a better file to work with during the editing process. This mode should be used every time you take a night shot that you intend to edit before you post.
Long Exposure ModeAnother type of night photo that you can capture with the OPPO Find X5 Pro, is long exposure shots. The long exposure mode has simple presets designed for three different scenarios.
Moving vehicles- Capture the bright, moving lights of vehicles at night.
Light painting- Track glowing objects as they move in low light.
Water & clouds- Make waterfalls and other flowing water scenes look like beautiful oil paintings.
For night shots, experiment with the Moving vehicles and Light painting modes. Once you have selected the scene, you can adjust the exposure time to your preference. Set a timer and leave your phone in place, or set the time to unlimited and manually stop the shot when you're ready. Once again, this type of shot is best done with a tripod.
Use these tips to improve your night shots and feel free to leave some of your favorite night shot tips in this thread.
