The title says it all.
LOL, I guess it makes a good paperweight. You can try pushing the power and volume down button at the same time.

As the title asks...
Just bought one last week and I'm curious. It seems as though it should and I wish that it did. It feels a little cheap without the clicking sound and sometimes I can't tell whether or not I pressed the button. It just feels mushy.
Yes it should. If it isn't and it feels "mushy", id guess there is something in there stopping you press it all the way down...
The button placement kind of sucks. instead of a toggle for volume, there are two small buttons places really closely together, and then the power/screen off button directly above that.
trying to take a screenshot is a little difficult with this setup., and often trying to turn up volume ****s off screen.
Anyone have button positioning issues on this model?
no... all phones have vol up and vol down buttons and then a power button... Samsung does volumes on left and power on right. moto does all on the right. taking a screenshot is easy. just power and volume down. that's it. not complicated... and the power button is textured whereas the volumes are smooth so that you can feel the power button is different. It only slightly sucks when you have a case that doesn't do that.

My power button and volume down button are broken and I do not know how to start my phone. My phone was not rooted.
Hello,
I found my G5 plus stuck in a boot loop today (makes it to blue Moto screen then cycles). I then noticed the power button has lost its tactile "feel". I assume the two issues are related. Basically it feels like the power button was smashed in and won't pop back out. I tried prying it out with a pin and sharp knife, but nothing helps. I can enter Fastboot by simply holding the volume down button since the power on button is already being "pressed". The phone will then jump out of Fastboot on its own after a few seconds. I assume the "pressed" power button is causing that.
Any ideas? Does anyone know if Motorola will repair the button under warranty?

Depends on how old your device is and if it's still unlocked and on unrooted stock. If it's BL unlocked/ rooted or somehow modded it also depends on your location, in Europe you've got a chance that it's repaired even when it's unlocked.

Probably will, you need to try.
Any fixed out there?
Did your problem with the power loop and stuck button get fixed? My phone is doing exactly the same thing.
It is out of warranty.
I have a Moto G4 Plus which I rooted a few days back. It is on the stock rom. Today, the phone switched off (though the battery wasn't low) and I haven't been able to turn it on since. I connected it to the charger and the only indication that the phone is alive is the led flashes about 4-5 times after holding the power button for some time. It also vibrates randomly sometimes when I press the power button or a combination of power volume up/down buttons. Please help.

Sounds like the battery has failed.
Connect to a pc and see how it's listed in device manager.

It is listed as Moto G (4) under portable devices. Also, I noticed that the phone is connected to my home wifi network, but the screen is still off. Also the back of the phone gets hot near the power button when it vibrates.

If you can boot into fastboot mode
Try reflashing firmware
