The pc also says they are empty but it shows the amount of memory consumed. I have tried flashing stock firmware via odin but the problem is persisting, factory reset and cache wiping also do not seeem to help..Please ASSIST!!!!!
Did you by any chance installed a different recovery then the stock one?

Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
help!!! please
Which version of the I9000 do you have ?
Is it the international version? or the I9000 >>M << (bell, canada)
Have you tried to format the sd card via recovery menu and / or windows ?
Finally if you have tried that, have you tried flashing with 3 files and PIT ?
Do you use any app that might hide your sd? I had the same problem with a gallery app. I Uninstalled And poof! Sd contents were back!
GT-I9000. CM7.
put your phone in mass storage mode and see what windows does it may give you a box that says it has detected problems and a option to fix click yes you might be able to see the contents or use recovery software to find the files
I had this on a Galaxy s2 and widows did its thing i unpluged the phone and turned it off and back on and it scanned fine
You might fined its a rouge app that has done this and it affects rooted phones manly
Hello everyone. Im sorry maybe i didnt open the discussion in the right place. I use galaxy s4 and suddenly i deleted my camera photos. And all of them were in internal memory of the phone. No ext sd card i have on my phone. The big problem is how to get the pictures back. I have root acces and running on 4.4.2 pls i need it very urgently.if anyone has idea pls right here or message me here thank u all reading this
Someone else had this issue, but in their case it was a factory reset. My recommendation to that person was to try Recuva, but unfortunately, Recuva doesn't detect the existence of the S4 at all. I did a quick google search and found an alternative that may work for you, here. Your S4 must be rooted for it to function.
I have not tried this, so I do not know if it will work. I changed the save location to the MicroSD card through the Camera's settings, as well as enabled write access to the MicroSD for all apps, so I have little to no need of this program.
Thank u. I think one more. As u said recuva doesnt detect the existence of s4. Is that possible to make something on a phone to mounts its internal drive as usb drive on a computer then we can scan it with any recovery program.
i dont think you can get your pictures back lol. since its called ''DELETE''
Not true. When a file is deleted the pointers to the file are changed to mark the space the file occupied available for writing, however the file is still present on the drive. Programs like Recuva work because the file isn't overwritten when deleted. However, Recuva doesn't recognize MTP devices. The only way Recuva can recognize a MTP device is if the transfer protocol is changed to UMS. Note that PTP mode on the S4 is NOT sufficient for the purpose.
Well how to change the transfer protocol to UMS? Any ideas?
SG USB Mass Storage Enabler will work as long as you're not on Android 4.4.x, according to the developer. Otherwise you'll need an app like Airdroid to do the job. There are other apps on the Play Store that may work.
EDIT: Some added research here seems to indicate that doing this will not work on the internal storage, as the internal storage has not been a separate partition since Android 3.0 according to Google. Try it, but I suspect @xDroidZz is correct, though not for the reason he thinks.
One more interesting is that possible to mount internal.file system over recovery? I have cwm recovery . I mean to mount file system through recovery before system boots and recover files then. Is that idea possible?

Hi mate ,
You can use aroma file explorer to use from recovery , check here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1646108
when i connect my s4 to pc, the internal storage shows 3.92Gb free of 8Gb.
But when i select all the folders and files they amount to only 1.4Gb. so i should have around 6GB OF FREE SPACE.
Pls suggest how to solve this?
Details. Are you rooted? Custom recovery installed? Any large apps installed?
Same issue here:
when I open my phone in Windows explorer it says 396 mb free of 9.24Gb
When I double click on the phone and I see al the folders and hit Ctrl+A and properties it's 2 Gb.
one folder is kinda big: osmand it's 1.6 Gb I moved it allready to my SD card but apperently it's still on my phone storage.
My phone is rooted.
And I have not installed custom recovery, not sure if I can do that, I can't even update anny aps now because of of my storage problem
It's fixed now.
I used custom recovery nad whiped my phone and my phone autmaticly reinstalled my apps and it works fine now
Hi guys,
First of all, great forum and great place to learn a lot of stuff about ROM's.
I have been using the forums here for a while.
Now I have a problem with my Galaxy S 4.
Galaxy s4 :gt- i9505 (Beglium)
16Gb version
Custom Rom: optimized cm 12.1 -20160118
android 5.1.1
I had some problems playing my music files on the phone, so i connected the phone to my PC.
I deleted my MUSIC folder from my EXTERNAL card.
Then I saw There are a lot more random folders in the ROOT of my EXTERNAL card.
So I deleted the LOG files, some maps that where for AD's (like GO sms), etc.
As far as I know, I did not delete any system files or folders.
While I was in the external card, connected to the PC, I saw that my INTERNAL card had wheeeeyyy much more free space than 5 minutes before. ( normally 0.9Gb free... suddenly 5.72GB free)
So i disconnected the phone and reconnected it again.
Again same thing.
Again disconnected it and on the phone I could not find ANY FILES, NO pictures, No downloads, NOTHING
Basically, my INTERNAL and my EXTERNAL are fully wiped.
with easeUS data recovery I can see all my files and maps on the external, BUT almost all of them are corrupted.
I can not recover them/ preview them.
I have not tried the internal memory yet. It is now doing a DEEP SCAN on the EXTERNAL card, connected to my PC via a SD Card Adapter.
Any possibilities to save something from the external and the internal memory ?
Everything else works normally.
My apps work, my contacts are ok.
PC is set to show hidden and system files => nothing to see
Recycle been on the phone is empty
used some recovery apps from the play store => nothing
Many thanks in advance.
PS: I have already done a search, also on google. But could not find anything useful.
Try Deleter.
I run easeUS recovery all night on the external memory.
Got back 5% of my pictures.
Most ara corrupted.
Same story for the internal memory.
Other suggestions, tips are welcome.
If the data was deleted corrupted then it might be restored corrupted.
I suggest, from now on, to upload your photos Google's servers with the Google Photos app.
You have unlimited storage for photos up to a certain quality.
Yep, i have installed google drive.
Sh#t has happened
Will try to use some other applications for recovery.
Had some pictures i needed.
Any names of really good software to recover sd card of internal memory ?
I told you, if the data was wiped in a corrupted state, then it will be restored in a corrupted stated. Because that's how it was the last time before it was deleted. It's like a checkpoint in a game. If you die, you will revive at the checkpoint in the same state you were when you reached that checkpoint.
You could give Deleter a try. But it won't magically repair corrupted data.
Try a program called recuva: https://www.piriform.com/recuva

I won't recommend it. It failed to recover two videos from my SD card that I needed to recover for investigation purposes, even when status of these files were Excellent. After restored, these files were corrupted. The same thing went on my .OGG file that was deleted accidentally by dBpoweramp before Vorbis Comments ID Tag was applied.
Even my friend said that Recuva was unable to recover her deleted photos as it should be. Yeah, the same thing, corrupted.

I have used recuva many times but, as with any software, it really depends on the state of the data at the time the software is run.
When one is desparate to recover files, I recommend trying as many programs as possible.
Hey guys.
Today i will try many different software.
I am trying to find a way to mount my internal storage as a drive with a driveLetter, so i can scan it.
Now its mte/umte or something like that.
So it has no driveletter.
Hey guys.
I managed to retrieve some pictures from the sd card.
Software i used.
[email protected]
EAsuse
Foenix recovery
For the internal memory.
Digdeeper
And some other ones on play store.
Just search for " photo recovey".
Maybe someone can use the names, if they get in the same situation as me.
Thx for the tips guys!
All Photos and Videos are lost on my Galaxy S4 (i9500) although App Data and other files are intact.
BTW, Internal Storage Space is still filled up and I don't think that files are actually deleted.
after rooting the device I tried to recover files using an App (GT Recovery) but it was no good.
also tried using Wondershare Recovery but somehow the process didn't even start so I gave up on that.
any way I could get hands on my files again?
Additional info:
I also tried browsing phone memory with Root Explorer and ES File Explorer. no joy :crying:
Running Stock Android 5.0.1 - Build Number: I9500XXUHOH6
Try changing ROMs.
I had a similar problem. Some files would be visible on one ROM, but invisible on another ROM, but the space would still be occupied.
