Hello, I'm playing Pokémon GO and when my battery goes to 10-20%~ my SIM connection just die (if I close the game, the connection back).
Similar to this problem: https://www.reddit.com/r/nexus4/comments/4xcfft/nexus_4_sim_card_problem_while_low_battery/
I think the Nexus 4 stop the connection to save battery (I'm no using battery saving mode), how can I solve this? I'm using external charger, but the game consumes almost the same amount of charge.

there's not a whole lot you can do. I have the same "problem" playing PoGo and Ingress. Nexus 4 is showing its limits with those demanding games.
I usually power the phone off for a few minutes to let it cool down and recharge a bit. Turning the screen off when inactive sometimes helps, although it helps more for Ingress than PoGo.

If my friend route his internet, I can keep playing using wifi, so the Nexus only stops the SIM connection. I think I should use a second phone just to route =(......

Hey guys,
First of, YES I USED THE SEARCH FUNCTION .
My battery life is absolute horrid right now, and I tried everything.
I tried out different roms, every radio, deleting programs, hard resetting tons of times. I even bought a new 1500 mAh battery but it was still crap.
Battery log says my device in standby mode with the screen turned of uses -70ma, when I turn my screen up it jumps to -320ma, and when idle on the screen for a few sec it goes to -200 ma, but when I browse through stuff again it goes to 3xxma again. When I surf on the internet it picks up to 450-500ma.
Now, this morning with the 1500 mAh battery fully charged I played a few games of XTRAKT, few texts, 1 hour of music listening and 10 minutes of being on Opera through a HSDPA connection. It was down to 45%.
This isn't the normal rate the battery goes down at right?
I use HDtweak to manage my connection and put it off after a minute so it isn't that I keep dataconnections open. I never use bluetooth or wifi either.
Could it possibly be that it's the charger of the device? I perhaps have the feeling that it doesn't put enough juice into the battery even though the green light led goes on to indicate it's full.
Some feedback would be much appreciated cause it's put me on the edge of selling my device, which would be a shame cause I'm really fond of it (except the battery ofcourse ).
Thanks in advance!

P.s. I am from a pda background, so it isn't that I'm expecting too much of the device or comparing it to a normal cell.
May I ask what you searched, as there are 3 or 4 active threads on battery drain right now?
Hi
Had same problem.
Try to browse a storage card if its very slow You must format it and it will back to normal.
very strange but its working.

General battery drain yes, not the possible issue of a charger though. If I'm wrong I stand corrected. .

I'll try this, I have noticed that today my storage card won't be read by my computer, so perhaps this is a fix for the lousy battery issue.

Hi Antrak,
Touch HD has the longest battery life of any similar 'phone. See e.g.
http://www.pcauthority.com.au/News/1...-the-rest.aspx.
Either your battery is not charging correctly, as you say (try it via the PC USB cord?), or you have two dud batteries in a row (very unlikely) or you have a bug in your m/board. 70mA in standby is too high. It should be <20mA with only the 'phone on in standby mode, providing you are not moving from one cell to another all the time, and have decent signal.
One other suggestion. Drain the battery completely to zero, then recharge it to max. This should reset the internal battery meter. But don't do this too often, as it ages the battery faster.
If none of these work, return the 'phone for a m/board replacement undere guarantee.
I have the same problem... After charging for 10 hours, my batt shows 55% only.. and last 1hr on STANDbY!!!
IMAGINE! charge for 10hrs juz to get to use for 1 hr.. im disappointed by the batt.. im not sure if HTC is gona let me exchange with a new one or do I have to buy a new batt..
try check your sync..its active all the time or not..
if yes..
find the threat to make a fake account for sync, so you can active it manually.
so your battery will stand more longer,
about charging..
me also facing the same problem..
need to change it more longer to get full battery,
but
if i change in my car,
no issue
very fast
i thing charger issue..
but i bought original set..
??????????????????
Okay I've charged my HD through my pc with a USB cable and formatted my SD card like a other user said. Gonna see how it holds out today. It could very well be that some chargers have issues.
My experience with the Touch HD says that when charged with a USB attached to a computer the battery life is a lot shorter than charged through a wall socket.

This is always going to be the case. Quickest way to charge your device will always be through your wall socket and with your device turned off!!
Same battery issue.
i recently purchased a new touch HD (T8285 telstra version) and am experiencing the same horrible battery issues. it takes more time to charge it, than i get use out of it.
i've tried multiple batteries, and am in the process of trying different ROMs.

Indeed, here's an illustration...
Image1:
Charging via USB takes longer. Consumption and therefore charge current is erratic after the battery level reaches 50% when charging via USB on my HD. So the battery fills up to about 60% of its capacity by the time when the battery level is reported to be 100% and charging stops.
Image2:
When charging with an AC adapter this is not happening and the capacity is fully utilized. This is also quicker.

That's strange. For me it's quicker if the device is turned on. When it's off it takes around 8-10 hours to charge but when it's on it's alot quicker.

hmmm, I don't know how this is possible?
If your device is on there is always power outage especially with programmes running, whilst if your device is off, there is no power drainage so device should charge quicker.
What rom are you using? software installed?

Latest official rom with alot of software installed. But it doens't make sence to me either. It's logical for something to charge faster when it's using no power (off) then when it is using power (on).
Combine battery threads ???
Hi to Moderators,
There are now several threads on the HD forum on battery and charging issues.
Can these be combined into one place and stickied, so we can get a clear picture?
Current threads are this one, plus:

I have a gut feeling from what I'm reading, that HTC have had a bad batch of batteries or charger circuits in the HD - in which case the best starting point is to call their service points and ask for help/replacement, instead of spending lots of time on other remedies. The symptoms described have lots of commonalities, and the HD is normally an excellent beastie for battery usage.
Thanks for all your help, ladies and gents! Your work is much appreciated.

Heya,
Don't know what it is but my battery life increased a tad. Am running Dutty's X3.0 with the 1.32.x.x. radio. Watching a 1 hour xvid dvd rip (no conversion) in coreplayer on full backlight with no HSDPA on, wifi or bluetooth takes away 20% of my battery, which is acceptable.
Don't think it's the SD card format though, it might be that I never have the activesync process on anymore by setting it to manual update and closing it (it otherwise keeps running.)

Ok so I received my Vibrant on Monday and so far I am in love with it. Their are three things that bug me, however.
1. Battery Life is TERRIBLE. I know, I know-This has been discussed before but I did everything the other threads said and still no difference. On my phone, I will leave it on standby and it will drop 8 percent in like an hour and a half. Somethings wrong. Also, If I play the Sims for two hours (like I did today) my battery goes from 98% down to 45%. Is this normal?
Just to point out what I have going on with my phone:
- Brightness is turned down COMPLETELY. Automatic brightness is turned OFF.
- 3G is always on. Could this be the culprit?
- I have a completely black background.
- Last I checked, it said my display was taking up 60-70% of my battery usage.
- As stated above, Sims DRAINS my battery. Either somethings up with my phone or Samsung should have made sure the Sims doesnt kill the device.
2. The second I take my phone off the charger, the battery goes from 100% to 98%. Can I fix this? Its kind of annoying...
3. Problem with the Sims. Im not sure if any of you have this issue, but whenever I tell my Sim to watch TV, the app shuts down and takes me back to my home screen. Any idea why its happening?

1. Leaving a phone in 3G all the time is not a good idea, if you have WiFi near you you can connect to I'd use WiFi instead, it has less battery drain then the antenna that is constantly searching for 3G signal - unless you are in the area with bulletproof 3G coverage of course.
2. It seems like this bug is common 100% jumps to 98% once you unplug the charger, are there really any accurate battery meters on the market?
3. Can't help you there, not playing the game on my phone.

alright thanks. im in phoenix here so i am almost always in a 3G area. I guess i'll leave it on since i rarely dont have 3G
I also read on multiple forums including HoFo that 3G generally consumes more energy then WiFi.
sims 3 fix
so my girlfriend was complaining about sims crashing when she watched tv or relaxed on the couch. i fixed this by moving both the sims launcher app and the sims game app to data/app.
I normally use Edge simply because I don't need Wifi or 3G on unless I'm doing some heavy data transferring.
Currently I'm at 61% battery, which means my phone has been off the charger for 16hours. Its not a fluke either because its just normal use for me. I normally take my phone off the charger at 6am and I plug it back in around 11pm.
Prolonged GPS, Wifi and 3G will eat your battery. I'm not saying don't use the services, but you give up one for the other. I personally like to have awesome battery usage until I'm out and about and really need to use my phone.
I'd recommend you call T-Mobile customer service and have them diagnose the problems you are having and issue a replacement if necessary.
Based on my experience, battery life is excellent, probably the best I've seen in any smartphone in this category. Battery usually last easily through the day with heavy use, including:
- having 3G on all the time (and frequently switching to edge and back)
- 2 email accounts using push (gmail and exchange)
- gps on all the time
- google latitude running all the time
- facebook and twitter sync'ing every hour
- fancy widget sync'ing every two hours
- Newsroom harvesting 12 news sites in the background
- occasional picture (3 or 4) a day
- web browsing and searching
- xda app for reading and replying to this forum.
- bluetooth is always on
- wifi is on from 8 pm on.
I charge the phone through the night, unplug it at 8 am, return home at 8 pm and put it to charge around 11 pm, with still 50%. Brightness is set to auto. Phone is not rooted or modified in any way.
You bought a high end phone that should perform as such. You are supposed to get the most out of your phone, not turn off its features. I wouldn't listen to those who claim you should turn off everything and dim the screen. What's next, not using the phone to preserve batteries?
That's just my two cents.

Hi korban,
What you can do is once you are out of an app and don't need it any more, go into your recent apps and remove them. Then go into your usage and "end" them if you can. If WiFi-needy applications are running in the background, they are most likely constantly eating up your battery by constantly syncing with the WiFi and internet. Also, DO NOT remove them from your recent apps if you still need that application and don't want it to reset. Such as, playing a flight simulator, and then pausing it. Then going back home. If you remove that from your recent apps, then the flight will start over again and most likely not saved. If you need any more help, I'm right here. Hope the problem is solved!
Also, try to wait until your battery is completely dead before charging it, or near dead, such as 1-10 percent, and then charge it undisturbed until 100 percent. This will increase your probability of your battery not getting damaged by the interrupted charges.
Hi, I've had my Nexus 6P since June now and I've been noticing some issues with battery life and Android N. The weird thing is, the battery is only having troubles when the phone is in my pocket. If I leave my phone on my desk the battery drains very slowly, but while in my pocket the phone gets hot and the battery drains much quicker (e.g. a short 10 minute run to chipotle for lunch left me with 5% lower battery. My phone didn't leave my pocket the entire time).
I'm using Project Fi for service and am in Manhattan, so service isn't an issue. I use the phone with backlight settings at 50% and I don't use the screen more than 30 minutes a day on average. I have location services disabled, I'm on the most recent Android N preview, I use WiFi at work and at home. I have a Pebble Time smartwatch that is connected via Bluetooth to my phone all hours of the day. My phone is Unrooted and has no custom bootloader. I don't have any apps that contribute significantly to my battery drain.
I suspect that my battery issues are from the new and 'improved' Doze feature on Android N.
I don't have a battery breakdown handy (cause I stupidly plugged it in before screenshotting) but the top stat on my battery drain is Android System, with CPU total over 1.5 hours in a given day and Keep awake over 45 minutes at least.
If anyone has experienced similar behavior or might have a clue as to why my battery is dying and how to fix it, please let me know!
Thanks!
- Eric
I turned off the 'ambient display' option in Settings/Display almost immediately upon getting the phone (which I've had for 3 days now!) I found that it would wake the screen and turn off a bunch of times if I was just carrying the phone and not actually interacting with it. I can see that being a big battery drain just for the screen time.
Good luck!
I don't have a solution, but my Nexus 6P has a similar symptom: It gets hot when it's in my pocket at work.
Based on the wifi wakelocks I've seen in Wakelock Detector, I suspect it's trying too hard to stay connected to the wireless network. We have a few access points at work, and it's possible my phone is switching back and forth between the two closest access points. It's also possible that the wifi signal isn't strong enough, so the phone boosts power to the wifi radio.
I'm on Project Fi, and I know the T-Mobile and Sprint signals are both weak at work. I don't know how much energy the phone wastes trying to keep itself registered on the mobile network, but I imagine that could also be related. Even though Project Fi will successfully use wifi to send and receive messages and phone calls, I'm pretty sure it still keeps trying to get a better connection to the mobile network (like every other phone).
It's difficult to judge whether the phone actually does something to cause a higher temperature while it's in my pocket, or if it just dissipates heat better on my desk. My pants are definitely too tight, so I'm sure that doesn't help.

Hey, thanks for the tip about ambient display. I turned it off and I'll let you know how it goes
This is pretty simple. Phones rely on airflow to remain cool because they have no active cooling. A phone on a desk has airflow. A phone in a pocket doesn't. No airflow means hotter phone. A hot battery drains much faster than a cool battery. That's all it comes down to.

Totally not what's going on. When in my pocket, the processor gets really hot, the rest of the phone warms up from my leg heat, but there is a hot-to-the-touch feeling to the top of the screen near the CPU which indicates higher clock speeds on the CPU while supposedly 'idle' in my pocket.

Hey, thanks for the reply. The "Android System" app is currently listed as using 19% of my battery followed by android OS then Chrome.
Android System has a CPU Total of 1 Hr, 30 Minutes, 34 minutes of keep awake and 800 mAh computer power use.
My screen has been on for 13 minutes and is computed as using 42 mAh.
This is all only 6 hours after taking my phone off the charger.
Thanks.

Hello.
I have some troubles with my Google Nexus 4 ONLY when I play Pokémon GO:
- Sometimes the smartphone turn off (I think not turn off if I'm connect in a external battery).
- SIM signal lost: Sometimes when low battery, sometimes with high battery, but if I just minimize the Pokémon GO app, the signal appears again.
- SIM signal die: Sometimes my signal die. The only way I found to solve this is restart the device (sometimes more than once).
It could be a battery issue as pogo is battery intensive. Is your battery old.
Keep an eye on your battery temp. and cpu temp. while playing games just to be sure it's not because of overheating.
