We are very Very Sorry..

Unfortunately, I'm fairly certain that we will never get the sources required for a proper custom ROM on this device, mainly because it is Mediatek.
Waiting for Redmi Note 4 Pro (Snapdragon)...

They will launch Snapdragon version in India due to patent issues with Erricson. So we might get our hands on the source code just like Note 3.

Ya you are right mediatek device is the main issue about this phone. one thing I have also notice camera quality is not much better

The Snapdragon 652 will be a beast on this phone, especially when the ROMs start rolling in.

So it's MediaTek? I have 3 MT devices, none of them have enough space in the user partition. I thought that was the reason why there were slow and unresponsive.
But these look a lot better than what I already have. Can they be rooted, do the standard recoveries show upside-down. CWM is easier to manage that way, but TWRP is difficult.

Mediatek device main problem is regarding enough space and fast access. I hope Redmi note 4 wiil work much better if a user can root this device & create SD partition .

Oppo Find 5 Upgraded

The Oppo Find 5 for China has been silently upgraded to the Snapdragon 600 CPU. It has four cores of the upgraded Krait 300 architecture clocked at the higher 1.7GHz and the same Adreno 320 GPU but with 96 ALUs.

I have been contemplating to buy this device for some time now. Once the upgraded version is released internationally I'm definitely procuring one.
Also, how does everyone here like their phone? Worth buying over my current Nexus 4?

I've had a Nexus 4 and my current phone is the Find 5.
The phones are quite similar with the main differences being on the camera and screen front (the Find 5 trumping the Nexus 4 on both fronts). For me, the main differences are as follows:
1. Screen. The Find 5's screen is a lot better than the Nexus 4's. The colours/brightness are so much better plus it's 1080p.
2. Camera. Nexus 4 8MP/Find 5 13MP. Okay, megapixels isn't a good benchmark but still, the oppo find 5's camera is better.
3. Software. The software that comes preloaded on the Find 5 is crap. It's buggy and jerky. Compare that to the Nexus 4 and the 4 wins outright. However, if you root it and flash a custom ROM the experience becomes more comparable. I've tried 3 ROMs so far and the one that I'm currently running (jellybeer) is running really well with no lag whatsoever.
Interesting to hear about the upgraded CPU. Wish I'd have held off now!!! With a 1.7GHz chip I believe the Find 5 will easily trounce the Nexus 4. Also, when comparing against more mainstream flagship devices (S4/HTC One) I prefer to be using an "Indie" phone that is very different than the average person's mobile.
EDIT: link to a comparison of the Nexus 4 and Find 5 - http://www.phonearena.com/phones/compare/OPPO-Find-5,Google-Nexus-4/phones/7600,7531
Being in China, I had a chance to handle the TD version at one of the many Oppo stores here. From what the sales guy said, However, it will only be available in China, as the TD version is being tailored and produced exclusively for use on China Mobile's TD-SCDMA 3G service. You may be able to get it from a grey seller, though, but I wouldn't hold my breath.
The firmwares between the two are also incompatible, so the ROMs you find here won't work on the TD unless someone has modified it.
EDIT: The sales guy from two different stores I went to also said that Oppo isn't producing a 32GB version of the Find 5 TD (one also said the regular Find 5) anymore due to low demand, but take it with a grain of salt, as salepeople here aren't usually experts on their company workings.
Thanks TheMadMan10 and Vapourstreak. I'm a little disappointed to learn that there will not be any international version of the Oppo Find 5 with the Snapdragon 600 CPU. I love the looks and build of the Oppo but now I'm wondering whether it'll be a good idea to buy a phone with relatively older specs. The HTC One and Galaxy S4 theoretically should trounce the Oppo in performance.
Would take the F5 over the N4 every time, although the N4 is really nice being stock Android (I've a Find 5 and wife has Nexus 4). The screen above all makes the F5 a winner, besides anything else for me.
Software-wise, I've tried most stock/beta/Chinese Firefly/custom ROMs and have settled on Chinese open beta Firefly which is really smooth and issue-free with good benchmarks (see sig), although people who who use apps I don't have raised issues.
I suppose if you're wanting absolute top-of-the-line specs and are thinking of the S4 or HTC One, maybe wait for the HTC One Google edition? Personally after two years of Touchwiz and the bland design (subjective) with Note and Note 2 and won't be going back anytime soon.
I personally don't think there's any phone on the market right now that looks better than the Oppo. But that's subjective. The earliest I can get my hands on one is October.
However, I also hear that the Oppo is slower then the Nexus 4 in games as the same Adreno 320 GPU has to power a 5" 1080p screen. What's the opinion of all the Oppo owners here?
Yeah I also read about the Adreno and 1080p - think it was Anandtech review (?)
I'm not a massive gamer but play Real Racing 3 quite a bit and haven't noticed slowdown, only that it's smoother than my old Note 2 - especially when races have 22 cars on track. Haven't tried it on the Nexus 4.
If you're waiting until October then you should have a good idea of what's coming up in terms of new models by then. The F5 will be almost a year old in terms of announcement so maybe an upgrade (Find 7?) is in the works.

Lenovo Lemo K3 Note Hands on, Antutu, Battery, GPS, Google Play store review

In current market, there is a much competitive and popular smartphone from Lenovo, although it's not the first 64bit 4G LTE smartphone, and it also the upgraded version of Lenovo Lemo, we must figure out the model, right, it's Lenovo Lemo K3 Note. After Meizu announced its note version, Meizu M1 Note, 'Note' has become the trendy word, like Xiaomi Note, so does Lenovo K3 Note. We are delighted to get the goods to make a specific hands on review for you when you have questions to purchase this one.
Design
Lenovo K3 Note has boosted 5.5inch FHD IPS screen instead of the Lenovo k3 with 5.0inch HD IPS screen, in view of the screen size and screen resolution, large screen size can be regarded as a small tablet pc, like a popular phablet, especially for those large-palm foreigner. What's more, i am so picky with the screen resolution, if i bought a smartphone with lower screen resolution, which means the less superior video quality. Fortunately, Lenovo K3 note has the highest screen resolution with 1920 * 1080pixels, which enables me to enjoy more full high definition videos, games, and so on. This factor is very critical for me.
Hardware
Lenovo K3 Note has also made changed about its CPU, this time it uses the latest and most popular MTK6752 64bit Octa core 1.7GHz CPU rather than Qualcomm MSMS8916 64bit Quad Core 1.2GHz CPU of Lenovo Lemo K3, built in RAM 2GB ROM 16GB, larger than RAM 1GB of Lenovo K3. As you know, a chipset is as important as human's heart, 64bit Octa core processor has come into a mature and stable stage for most smartphones. I can play 3D games freely and rapidly by Lenovo K3 Note, meanwhile, RAM 2GB running memory helps me store and run the enough apps to avoid the lack storage to be stuck.
Dual Camera
When i pick a smartphone, i also attch importance to the dual camera, it has 13MP back camera and 5MP front camera, both cameras enable me to take a picture in low light, let alone in strong light. I always take this smartphone to shoot some beautiful moments in my life and then upload in my zone. I believe as time passed by, it can be eternal.
Software
For most Lenovo smartphone, it just can support Chinese and English, and it doesn't have Google play store. Right now we can share the good news that this one not only has google play store, but also set up in your mother tongue. Meanwhile, I can use GPS to locate where i want to go to avoid losing the way. Other practical softwares such as facebook, twitter, bluetooth are provided for you free. In addition, 3000mAh Battery lets me call or play for one day without charging more. I can't express more about this smartphone.
Price and Coupon
Lenovo K3 Note begins to sell now below $170 today to get a nice budget phone. Now there are Yellow and White in stock. Which one will you choose? More latest review about Chinese smartphone will come soon, stay tuned.

I really want to get this device! But a few questions for those that have it...
(a) what is the quality of the camera? For the price, I know I can't expect too much, but I am hoping it is significantly better than my current phone (Moto G 2013)
(b) from youtube videos it looks like the screen has quite a significant blue tint to the screen colors. Have you found this to be the case, and have you tried using any apps to correct it?
(c) has anybody successfully used a 64GB micro SD card with it?
(d) it seems that it does not come with Google Play. Has anybody successfully replicated the steps posted by dreambo to root and install gapps?

It has all a phone needs: from snapdragon 625, 3GB ram, 5.0 inch display (to those who like small screens), fingerprint sensor, 4000mAh battery etc. and all this for only 150 dollars !!!

What phone after Jiayu S3 ?

I own my jiayu S3 since a long time. It's simply the best phone I have had so far. I love it, and I even bought another one for my wife. But with the applications updates and time passing, the 16 Gb of memory is simply not enough anymore for my usage.
I would like to find a replacement phone similar to my Jiayu with at least 32 Gb of memory and 4 Gb of ROM. The new phone should be dual sim (I work and live in two countries), compatible with European 4G, provide an extension for a memory card (that doesn't use a sim slot) and be easily rootable (I'm an IT engineer, so this is a must). The price should also be less then 300€ (my Jiayu S3 costed me less than 200€, with accessories and shipment included).
Is there any phone that can match this ? I just can't find any so far. I'm asking here because I suspect I'm not the only one wondering what one can use after a Jiayu S3.

It's a tough one. Been looking too for some upgrade after 2+ years of S3 use but there is always one or two things that you have to sacrifice - NFC, separate mSD slot, or sometimes B20 frequency on 4G network. For me, an upgrade from S3 would be a minimum of 4/64GB and 4000 mAh battery. I was looking for a larger screen also (Mi Max 2 with 6.44" is my favorite, although no NFC) and also some od Redmi Note series or some LeEco 5.7" models. Oh, and there is Lenovo P2 but it's not so much of an upgrade.
I like the idea of discussing next phone. We have something in common: our amazing JYS3 but, I think, also our belief in open source development. Next, we inevitably also focus on some different parameters (money, size, functionality, ...).
Personally, money is not the main obstacle, and, I would like a big 6.5" phone (and if needed at all : a 17" tablet) . Actually: for big screen Android experience I prefer a TV box (and dual boot LE for fun), so I probably do not need a tablet.
So, right now, I have hope for 'Huawei Honor Note 9' or 'Xiaomi Mi Mix 2' but -only- if some minimal, say, Google -style ROM can be built. If not then I would be equally happy with a big size madOS supported Mediatek device with excellent specs and support (just like my beloved JYS3s). Or, ideally: a OnePlus 6+ (6.5" phone).

I think next week I will be ordering Mi Max 2, after 2.5 years of Jiayu S3. It's still running fine so I will probably keep it as backup (and to test Oreo if it comes in near future , but I decided it's time for a bigger screen and much better battery with QC3, which is one of the principal reasons for upgrade...

We have something in common: our amazing JYS3 but, I think, also our belief in open source development.

Exactly. It's a critical advantage for the (more advanced) users to also have open source ROMs available.

On paper, it's trully amazing. But it's not been released yet (it will be in a few days)..
Ulefone T1 ?
Vernee Mix 2 ?
Vernee Apollo 2 or LeEco LE MAX 3 I want to see them soon in reviews. Good screen, power and design

Also going for this phone, only takes so long for its release.

Actually, I do not want that phone anymore. Maybe an Apollo 2 Vernee or a Leeco le Max3 (in the future)
A MTK x30 or a smartphone equal or superior Snapdragon 821
A colleague just told me about the XIAOMI Mi A1. It looks like a very good candidate to replace my Jiayu S3:
- nearly stock android, developed with Google partnership (the first Android One phone from Xiaomi), so it should get frequent updates. Android 8 Oreo planned for the end of the year
- made for the international market, not just for China
- dual sim. However the second SIM slot is also used for a memory card. What a silly trend ! But it has 64 GB of ROM, so this is a bit less of an issue
- 4 GB of RAM
- 5.5 inches 1920x1080, like the Jiayu S3
- snapdragon 625 2Ghz
- gpu Adreno 506
- 3080mah battery
- cheap, less than 240$ (200€)

Why did you change your mind?
Those two phones dont look as good as the Umidigi S2 Pro in my opinion.
And slightly better specs dont care to me, am not going to play heavy games.
Personally I've moved from Mediatek devices, got a Le Max 2 and it's a big step camera wise. Mediatek devices promise a lot but these Chinese companies fail to deliver on the specs. They keep bragging about the image sensor because they know they're not going to optimize the image quality.
Outside of MAD there's not really any development going on for Mediatek devices, and Mediatek seems to have given up on high-performance SoCs (X30 was a big flop), so it'll be the boring octa-core A53s for next year. You can find decent Qualcomm devices for the same price, and you'll get custom roms.

This ticks a lot of boxes for me but it is missing NFC.

Please Help. Only a Single person Replied in a Day!

Hi All,
Thanks for coming to the post. I know this is not a review website, but I could not find the solution anywhere else. I need your help in choosing my next phone. I am deciding between Samsung Galaxy A9 Pro ($350) and Xiaomi RedMi Note 3 ($200). I know the price difference between them is somewhat unjustifiable, but I am choosing between mid-rangers from Xiaomi and Samsung. Now I have a few points to make so that I can have a proper explanation.
Before starting, just FYI, I am using Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and Xiaomi MI4. My father has a RedMi Note 3 and my sister has a RedMi Note 4. Beside these, I have used many phones from Samsung and other manufacturers as well. So I fairly know how good phones both manufacturers produce.
1) Galaxy A9 Pro in India comes with S652 chipset flanking 4GB RAM and 32 gigs of storage. RedMi Note 3, on the other hand, is available with S650 chipset having 3GB RAM and 32 GB storage. While the specs are in favour of Galaxy A9 Pro, why RedMi Note 3 has upper hand in most benchmarks? If it is because of TouchWiz, does it lags horribly?
2) A (very) few people, including GSMArena, mentioned a kind of screen flicker in Galaxy A9 while in low brightness. Any explanations on that? Does Galaxy A9 Pro suffers from same issues?
3) In a dual sim phone, if my first SIM is 4G/VoLTE based (Reliance JIO), what would be the supported network on 2nd (GSM, 3G or 4G) ? I have heard that 2nd SIM stays in 2G. Is that true for both the phones? I have also heard that RedMi Note 3 supports 3G in secondary slot.
4) Galaxy A9 Pro misses out the Gyro Sensor. Apart from VR, what else I'll be missing out if I opt for Galaxy A9 Pro? Also, what is the cost range for a decent VR box (I am poor)?
5) Do you knoy any video or website link where I can see a thorough overview of Galaxy A9 Pro UI? There are certain features I like in the ROM itself, and I do not want to root the new galaxy on day one. Fortunately all of them are available in MIUI, but I need to see someone's Galaxy A9 Pro. (App lock, Headsup notification disable, inbuilt data saver etc)
6) How good is the battery backup for Galaxy A9 Pro?
7) Samsung recently discontinued Galaxy A9 Pro in India due to which, the price has fallen from almost $500 to $350. What could be the reason behind it? Is there any production fault?
8) Samsung Galaxy A9 Pro is available for $350, Xiaomi RedMi Note 3 is available for $200. Considering all of my requirements and situation, should I spend $150 more for Galaxy A9 Pro?
Is there a nifty alternative for Second Space or Dual Apps from MIUI? Parallel space is a fairly poor adware, and even if I buy it for $3, it is a resource hog. Any recomendations?
Thanks for your time and input.
Have a great time ahead.
P.s. Mi Max Prime is too big for me.

I think the more important is : Do you want paid 150$ for toucwiz and what design you prefer ...
And touchwiz is nice now. No samsung doesn't have second space like MIUI and idk a good alternative
1. I have heard that this phone comes in 4G+2G connectivity. Redmi Note 3/4 on the other hand comes with 4G+3G connectivity. Is this an important thing to consider, because if I am using internet from first SIM, the second SIM will only be used for calls. So should I be worried about this thing?
2. Can I select 3G/2G on first SIM and 4G on second SIM without changing the cards?
