Hi!
I am running the Android 4.4.4 GPE ROM by Danvdh, but this issue possibly exists in any 4.4.4 GPE.
I have a stock lockscreen (not a third party lockscreen), secured with pattern, which displays from top to bottom:
-------------
[TIME]
[date] [next-alarm]
(blank area)
[pattern spots]
T-MOBILE
EMERGENCY CALL
------------------------
It's fairly standard. In the (blank area), battery status is only displayed when charging; battery status is never displayed if not charging. I would like to see battery status always displayed, even when not charging.
I quickly found this: http://teckfront.com/set-battery-status-lock-screen-android-4-4-4-kitkat-devices/ which shows an "Always on" option for "Battery Status" in the settings, for Android 4.4.4 (presumably stock). And everywhere else I look describes finding that particular setting in a similar way. Simple, right?
But I do not seem to be able to access this at all with my ROM. Selecting an option for "Battery Status" just seems to not be anywhere in the settings menu!
Does anybody know where this is for GPE 4.4.4? Or for Danvdh's GPE 4.4.4? Or alternatively, is there another way to enable this so that I can see my battery status on my lockscreen when NOT charging?
My phone is rooted, and I'm fine with a [sudo] terminal command, if there is that kind of solution.
Thanks!
You can do it with Xposed most probably.
I don't know if there are any options to do it otherwise. I've been running custom ROMs for almost 2 years, but I have not seen on any such a setting.

I don't know yet if Xposed will do the trick, since I know nothing about it, but I've just read a little about it, installed it, and am rebooting, and this looks like it will be a LOT of fun!
Thanks for your quick response!
added: hrmmmmmm...... looks like I better do a backup before installing this framework.

Yes, do a backup.
GravityBox is the module you will need. It has a lot of customization options. It should have what you're looking for.

So, I just did the KitKat update. Seems to be a little snappier, but nothing special. Wish I would've stayed on jellybean to be honest.
1. My primary issue is that I'm trying to figure out how to enable "Immersive mode". Do I need a special launcher? I tried sideloading the google now launcher but the the black task bar/status bar stays put (if that makes sense).
My goal would be to "enable" immersive mode, but keep the moto circle widgets as the well as the quick settings menu, but I'm okay losing it if necessary. Also, I would like to have "okay google" homescreen to work.
Thanks for any guidance on these issues. Would rather not root, or load a custom ROM if necessary. Thanks!
---
BTW, here are some other issues if you all know a fix...
2. Is there a way to change the lock screen/PIN screen to the way it was. The number pad is smaller now with KitKat
3. Is there a "dark theme" to the gmail app.

Regarding the immersive mode when you are in a full screen game or any given app, if you try to pull down the status bar, you can now, thanks to the immersive mode.

Thanks triloger. I feel like an idiot, I mixed up "immersive mode" with what should have been "transparent notification bar/navigation buttons". Sorry for the confusion.
Unfortunately, I had to download a different launcher but I was able to get the transparency working.

Something I use that has changed names several times (used to be "Unbounce") called Amplify Battery Extender found here: Amplify-Battery Extender is a module that will prevent the play store from phoning home so often and waking up your device from deep sleep. Early iterations allowed you to change settings yourself, but the newest version has good default settings that helped me tremendously with my S5. I don't know how future proof it is with Lollipop right around the corner, but it definitely increased my deep sleep time by about 10-15%.
Give it a try and check out his support page that I linked to. It has a lot of good information posted there.
Edit: The only other one I install for performance related impact is the Android Tuner (I have pro) Xposed module that allows for Crystallization of apps immediately upon close. I found greenify to be completely hit or miss, especially on my friend's phone who installs an insane amount of apps. Greenify would just fail to make them hibernate. I don't know why crystallizing through Android Tuner is better, but it truly closes apps immediately and prevents them from running in the background. Really great software and awesome tech support.
The following are my favorites:
1. Boot Manager (as the name implies, it lets you manage what apps are started or not on boot)
2. Greenify (Will let you manually or automatically hibernate apps, even notifications for apps like Facebook will still work while hibernated)
3. Wanam Xposed (So many hacks to list, this alone is a must have!)
4. XuiiMod (if you get tired of seeing the same UI animations, then this one's for you, it let's you change basically every animation there is)
5. Youtube Adaway (as the name implies, advertising remover for Youtube).
App settings. Let's you choose a different dpi for each app.

This thread has the potential to be awesome. Subscribing.
Right now I am using Pandora patcher, adblock, YouTube adblock, appopps, Wanam and xsceurestorage (to enable private mode).

I like Complete Action Plus. Had never known of it before.
this is no way a complaint but personally, as exciting as 5.0 may be... i dont think i make the jump until xposed works on 5.0. There are some modules i can live without but when it comes to per app settings... this is my most widely used module as changing the dpi and forcing an app to be full screen looks so much better. google music's stock dpi is horrible. Anyone else going to delay their update till xposed is able to work on 5.0?

My thoughts exactly!
xPosed Framework is my main excuse to root my device (well that and Titanium Backup) and I can't see myself running a device without xPosed, period!
Cheers!
I add "Network Speed Indicator" to mine. Like to see bandwidth numbers.
The guy that did "Wanam Xposed" does not even have a Samsung phone. Go figure. Its all in one toolkit for any Samsung phones and some of it doesnt work well. For example, the disable volumn warning didnt work on my Note 4.
Has anyone got Lockscreen shortcuts to work?

He may not now but he did when he started.
Agree . . I install it on my devices but only to gain access to a couple of functions.
Along with many of the ones noted I love GravityBox KK. Remapped my capacitative buttons...swapped menu and recents (now long press gets recents) and long press back kills the foreground app.

I am still using Wanam and I dont think it does what you described.

GravityBox does the button remapping and some other mods...I also use Wanam for a number of other things.
I cannot get the lockscreen shortcuts to work. I've set the shortcuts themselves, switched the lock method to Swipe, but nothing shows up on the lockscreen.

You need to ask in the thread for the Xposed module. This thread is for discussing modules that work well with the Note 4.
Wanam
Amplify
Rootcloak
Complete action plus
Network speed indicator
Swype tweaks
YouTube adaway
Those are my modules

Hi! My I am on 5.0 using the stock Samsung TouchWIZ ROM (I heard you can't dial 911 on custom ROMs on this phone so that terrified me) but anyway I have Wanam Xposed installed and it has an option for displaying the date in the status bar along with the time. The time only shows up. Not the date. If I tell Wanam to move the clock to the center, it will do that, which is weird because it has SOME control over the clock but cannot seem to get the date up there?
I also installed GravityBox and surprisingly a lot of features work however, just like Wanam, I can't seem to get the date and/or day of the week to show up in my status bar.
Anyone know what's going on? Thank you!
Not all features work. That's known.

I don't mean to sound dumb but why would it be an option then? I thought the point of Wanam was to make options available that worked with Samsung phones.
I am not complaining. I am just confused as to why the option would be there then. Similarly, some options using GravityBox work just fine that aren't in Wanam, such as adjusting the brightness by swiping across the statusbar and clicking back twice to enable/disable screen rotation.
Without using any app.
Is there a native way to accomplish this mod, seem to remember this being fairly common in the days before xposed etc. While I have gotten the percent to show, it appears next to the batt icon.
I am not looking for apps or ways of accomplishing this via things from the play store, so please do not suggest them.
EDIT: to be clear i am not looking for the current way OOS places the percent in the statusbar. I am looking for a way to have the percent WITHIN the battery icon.
I have figured it out using Minit as suggested in this thread, but looking for a cleaner way since Minit is not as nice as the stock icons + only skins after boot completes.
Only way i know of in OOS is with 3minit battery mod
Settings > Status Bar > "Show Battery Percentage"?

Was also looking for it, but there is no stock option that would achieve that (I am aware of).

He wants to have the battery percentage inside the battery icon. Your solution just puts it next to the icon.

That is correct, I have percent enabled right now, but its such a waste of real estate in the statusbar.

I will look into 3minit, have you been successful in getting this running on your OP5?
Wow, that was pretty easy... Got 3minit running well. Some small padding issues in the statusbar... anyone know what may be causing. It appears the stock OOS battery icons didnt hide/change to 0.0dip, I hid them with the stock functionality.
Issue is the 3minit battery icon is a little too close to the clock....
thoughts?
Here is s a screenshot of how it currently looks, would like some advice how to fix that slight padding issue next to the clock

I have an OP3 but sucessfull used it, yes. Its working on all devices afaik. You just need to do some editing in your OPSystemUI.apk. everything else is explained in the main 3minit thread. If you need help editing the xml file the correct way, you can pm me, i still have example xml from OP3, should be the same as OP5.
Edit: nevermind, you already got it working. The icon being too close to the clock is something i also noticed. You cant change that, except trying out other icons.
You can just switch off the battery icon and display text only, I never understood the icon anyway, not accurate at all.

I like the icon + text. Would actually be fine with just text, but dont want the '%' label...
hmm, wonder where that info is stored
Is there a way this crap ever works? Sometimes auto rotation works but more often not. And HOW can i disable the home screen rotation?
I don't know what all you guys do with custom mods like this. YES, it's fast and it needs less memory. And then? Soooo much silly functions. One would think the developers hate android. Jeez.
And when I have a simple question, nobody have an answer. That's creepy. Autorotation is a PITA. Same as the status bar in fullscreen.
If someone would ask me, Hey, should I install a custom rom? I would say: HELL NO!!!! Don't be crazy.
I really wonder what you guys all do with your phones and custom roms. Watching animated emojis? That's all?

Nothing wrong with my auto rotation on lineageos 15.1
Also my home launcher doesn't auto rotate - I use evie launcher
Check your launcher settings or replace it with one that meets your requirements
Plus you have posted in a dev section so I'll ask the mod to move it to the appropriate place

I just tried evie launcher. Same behavior.
The other thing; in full screen I'm not able to pull down the status bar. I checked settings and red online for hours. No way.
Maybe you have some suggestions?

I just enabled expanded desktop in lineageos os 15.1 to hide status bar & I have no issues pulling it down
I have a galaxy s5 900f
Make sure the rom you are using is compatible with your variant

Evie launcher
You may want to flash stock rom via odin & do any ota updates then try custom rom again
Thank you. I also use the g900f. When I start the device in safe mode, it works as it should. Then I disabled each app which imo remotely might cause the issue. But I want successful to isolate it.
I'm not sure at this point if it must be a app which interfere with this or if it may be also some settings which are not executed in safe mode.
I also tried apps which should allow to access the status bar. But even then, it doesn't work.

The only type of app I can think of that would stop you pulling down the status bar is one that has the permission to draw over other apps & is constantly running in the background
Best thing to do is to flash stock rom via odin and start again
