Note 4 N9100 Marshmallow feedback ? VoLte Status ? - Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi ,
Samsung released Marshmallow after a long wait for Open China Note 4 Duos , Hong Kong version is still pending for marshmallow update .
Q1. Did samsung introduced volte for note4 duos with marshmallow ?
Q2. Which custom recovery are you guys using ? Is lollipop compatible twrp working with marshmallow ?

any top chinese mobile forums that you guys can recommend . Google is getting polluted these days with many sites using scripts to copy content from xda to a blogspot site

I went ahead and did a bold move of flashing my HK Note 4 Dual N9100 with the Open China ROM 6.0.1 released by Samsung.
Steps did.
1) Used the cmw recovery compatible with N910w for N9100. Didnt find one for N9100 directly. Worked.
2) Flashed 6.0.1 on top of 5.1.1. After booting up, lot of apps crashed. understandable as it doesnot have google play. Hence factory reset.
3) Rooted the ROM 6.0.1 using Odin setup compatible for N910w. Didnt find one for N9100 directly. Worked.
4) Installed gapps pico. After setting up permissions and few hickups, it too worked.
5) Reinstalled rest of the apps from playstore, everything works.
Outcome - super snappy. excellent battery life than 5.1.1 ROM. Love it.
One problem - 10 mins after you turn off the screen, notifications wont show up on the phone. If your screen is on, all notifications shows up just fine.
Did some research and understood that its the dooze feature that is putting the phone to deep sleep. Its a very talked about issue in Samsung devices specially S5, S6 after it got updated to Marshmallow. Lot of suggestions are written
a) about adding required apps and google play store to "Do not Optimize" section. Tried all but all in vain.
b) Turn off Wifi and see, but no luck.
Its very annoying to not see the notifications show up but not a deal breaker as turning on the screen will bring them. But still.......Anybody have any suggestions?

Thanks for updating here , any luck with VoLte? Could you post the links of the exact custom recovery you used . does it support exfat and ext3/4 partition ? I plan on using a partitioned microsd with marshmallow with first half for system memory and 2nd half as removable storage (tib backup , media)
The last update for HK version was on 1st September 2016 which means they are working on the ROM . I am just guessing that CN version might not have VoLTe . There is no ROM difference between Open china and HK except gapps
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SM-N9100/

my carrier does not support VoLTE. So unsure if the 6.0.1 rom supports it. VoLTE is not shown any where in the Network settings though. !
I lost the link for the recovery as i frantically downloaded a few and tried randomly for which one works. . I am trying to attach the recovery file but giving an error as i am a new member.
Any suggestions on the notificatons not showing up after screen off issue?

Is it app specific or all apps?

All apps !

Honor 6+ for KSA and UAE community

I made this post to gather all Honor 6+ owners from KSA and UAE who bought it from souq (dot) com to share their problems, questions and experiences.
My experience is excellent with 6+. but when i upgraded it to lollipop, all gestures functions were gone!
No double tap to wake screen, no draw to open apps .. even all motion settings like flip mob to mute were disappeared
I used this file for upgrading:
hxxp://7961b64fc16ad15a92ef-9f98f1eddca1ebd26a80f4b64e8bd016.r62.cf3.rackcdn.com/downloads/PE-TL10C900B324.zip
(replace hxxp with http)
I downloaded it from here:
hxxp://hihonor.com/en/pages/support#?view=downloads
(replace hxxp with http)
I tried a factory reset, but it always fail at 10%
I can't call huawei support as i am outside of ksa now.
Any one faced the same problems when upgrading to lollipop?
not yet updated because of these problems. Can you check in gestures settings, if these features are still available? I purchased from Souq UAE
I tried flashing Latest 5.1.1 Chinese Stable Developer Edition , and then use downgrade package provided on Huawei Club Forum by chinese guys , but failed also.

No gestures options at all after upgrading. May you call customer support to ask them about this problem, and when the official upgrade for uae and ksa will be released?
I think that phones provided by souq.com have a modified software(i can't understand why )
So all of MENA region custmores have a buggy update.
We should contact with local provider & huawei to get our rights
any news about this dam update ?

Hi Guys,
Check out the Lollipop and Marshmallow update here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-6/general/honor-6-heres-how-update-manually-to-t3323661
I bought my Honor 6+ from Souq.com UAE last month. As i'm residing in India and using Vodafone as my service provider but not able to access data internet (2G/3G/4G) in my phone (working fine with Wifi). It is displaying the 3G/4G symbol at the top but somehow its not working even after getting all the configuration done that is provided by Vodafone.
I tried with multiple service providers (Airtel/Reliance/Aircel/Idea) but its not working either, although the data net is working in another phone using the same SIM. Please help me , let me know if anyone else having the same issue.
I tried the B334 Russia, and it worked fine, but I bricked my phone after I tried to update to the marshmallow as per the following update link but I made one mistake that I did unzipped the 503 update.zip pachage and i only took the update.app file and put it on the dload folder, after that i was unable to boot my phone again,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/hono...ly-to-t3323661
and after several attempts to flash so many versions like (B130, B135, B300, B500, B503, B224, B334, B332, B510) I was able by the adb method to update to the latest Marshmallow update of UAE B510 but wifi and Bluetooth don't work anymore, and the mac address shows zeros 02:00:00:00:00 , ANY SUGGESTIONS?
in addition could someone told me the original firmware version that PE-TL10 in saudi comes with and where I can downloaded

It worked for me ..
I was on the Indian variant for Honor 6+ Lollipop ..
All i did was follow the instructions in the rollback .doc file. Although it is mentioned in the 2nd step that the version should change to the transition package "PE-TL10C900B300" .. Well mine didn't !!
But then too i went ahead to the 3rd step nd it worked for me .. Im on Kitkat now ..
P.S : After updating to kitkat from the transition package during the first boot i got an error saying user partition unusable .. I had to factory reset it / Erase it .. I dont know what that meant please lemme know what that is (My SD Card was my default storage location).. But never the less kitkat is working fine .. I just now reinstalled kitkat via Recovery mode and m gonna root it now
PSS: I never backup since i only have movies n Tv shows in my SD Card ..
Cheers
How i reinstall kitkat from recovery.please provide steps
Thanks for your work
Downgrade Package Chinese Honor 6 Plus lollipop to kitkat
I am tryed Honor 6+ PE-TL10 Lollipop CN B351 EMUI3.1_ Android5.10.16. I happened more problems and issues:
- could not use talking clock aplications like Caynax Hourly Chime PRO, AutomateIt and AutoMagic (could not use speech rules with speaking clock in this apps);
- could not use apps that automatically activate phone speaker at the beginning of the incoming and outgoing call. I tryed AutomateIt and AutoMagic rules that activate speakerphone automatically, but it is run only to outgoing call;
- could not use applications like Missed Call Reminder (not call an SMS sound reminder and vibration).
Some applications that start after the phone starts up, certainly not start, even if I enabled these app settings on phone menu in settings - startup manager. Some applications with status bar notification and sound notification not run and not make notification, even I activated options with allow notifications on settings - notification center. I allowed all of apps to keep running after the screen is turned off, but in vain.
I could not downgrade to B260 KitKat until I found an special firmware B300 needed to downgrade Huawei Honor 6 Plus from Lollipop 5 to Kitkat 4 Android. I found this firmware very, very hard... I found only after I wrote Google search in Chinese language. Only a downgrade version from China was OK. A downgrade version from EU countries not run. I installed PE-TL10C900B324 EU 5.1.1 firmware version, then I tryed to install downgrade version from EU countries, but not run.
On an Europe and other countries Honor 6+ PE-TL10 firmware it is impossible to switch 3G/4G from SIM 1 to SIM 2. This setting is missing from the SIM card management phone menu.
You can download this downgrade firmware from here: http://www.4shared.com/zip/Uk1rNF9Hce/Honor_6_Plus_PE-TL10_downgrade.html

Hey Bro.
I running android 6.0 beta but no new update for me ...
How update tu android 6.01
Just came to my phone as well. Downloading it now.
It would be great if someone could upload the rom if a dev could somehow use it to distribute it to the rest or maybe a system dump
It works, with a small starting issue.
Edge features are great. News (Yahoo only, can't seem to be able to change it) people, tasks, frequently used apps, stocks, tools (compass, ruler, flashlight), Twitter feed, sports scores (again Yahoo) Internet bookmarks etc.
Most everything can be customized and changed to suit your needs. One useful feature is locations and what you want the phone to do when you reach that location. I set mine to turn off wifi and BT and put it in vibrate when I reach work. I know, these things have been around for a long time but it's nice to have them in the Edge screen.
After the update was applied I was stuck on 2G for a while. Turning mobile networks off/on, swapping APNs and turning on/off roaming didn't help. I then opted to go for Automatic 3G/2G in network selection, which got me on 3G, then I switched back to Automatic LTE/3G/2G which got me back on LTE. I did not reboot, which may have fixed the issue. Just a headsup... I'm on ATT.
Smart Manager is now in Settings.
Not sure of other features... will dig some more, and of course test the battery life.
Had the 2G issue but rebooted it updated all fine.
Loving the edge features glad to see Samsung wake up and really introduce a killer feature. Now they need to keep up support, add even more cards and advertise the feature. Location feature is cool as is the compass although needs a calibration at each use.
Agenda card is awesome everything for the day and one click brings up the details.
Contact tab finally a direct call option plus lots of other options.
Only about 350MB download. OTA, its an awesome update 6.0.1 and January security patch.
is the lag still present any where on the UIs animations ?
Got the update zip for my 925F from the "/data/fota" folder.
Here is the link to the update: MEGA
Also I've managed to get the new sboot from the zip and pack it with the Tar-tool to the tar.md5 file in case it's needed for rooting.
Here is the link to the new bootloader: MEGA
Edit: changed the bootloader tar.md5, somehow md5 did not match on previous one. Sorry about that.
Link to the new one: MEGA
Battery notably better with heavy use, playing with app most the day.
I don't notice the lag but then I turn animations right down

If you mean the new bootloader, flash it with BL button.
As for the update.zip, it's not for the Odin but for the stock recovery.

i guess you may want to place the .zip file in data/fota folder and then try restarting phone, restarting into stock recovery or restarting to upload mode for SW updates.
good luck !

Flash this in TWRP.
First, thanks tremendously guys for all this hard work you do for us so we can have the latest and greatest Android system.
Okay, so on to my issue. Last night I flashed cm-14.1-20161204-UNOFFICIAL-treltexx over my N910CXXS2DQB3_N910COLB2DPE3_THL sammobile stock, and as so many have posted, it looks quite nice, but the No SIM error is too big of an issue to use on my only device. This, of course, put me into many hours researching if there has been a fix to which I have found nothing definitive. As a decades-long user of XDA I came across this post showing trltetmo.zip (T-Mobile) Snapdragon, and the treltexx (Exynos) version by jef_00. Following the posted instructions to the letter, TWRP continues to return the error "this device is treltexx but the ROM is treltexx, tredl" and stops dead with error 1. As I live in Asia, we only get the Exynos Octa-core mobiles here, so every ROM update/change I've made represents the difference between the Americas and pretty much the rest of the world, so I know the correct Exynos ROM was used last night, and it pretty much ran for many hours giving only the No SIM issue. It did turn to molasses trying to get anything to do something, but I figured I'd work that part out in time.
So now I'm using ODIN to put sammobile's latest stock release N910CXXU2DQC2_N910COLB2DPE3_N910CXXU1DPE3_HOME.tar, then root it with TWRP as I've done for many years and will try jef_00's latest release lineage-14.1-20170507-UNOFFICIAL-trltexx in hopes it will recognize the Exynos version once again. If it does, I'll then use the Bootloader/Modem combo Bootloader+Modem_N910CXXS2DQA1_6.0.1 to see if it will recognize my SIM card and allow me to use my mobile phone again.
Have any of you noticed either your Snapdragon or Exynos recognizing the ROMs incorrectly? Additionally, did/does this Bootloader/Modem combo fix the SIM issue?
Thanks for anything you can tell me.
Regards,
Cole

Flash gapps and the latest W8 bootloader and modem in my signature, for best signal stability. You can change trltetmo to trltecan in the build.prop if you want your apps to think your phone is in fact the W8 not the T, but it's hardly important.

They are a custom aroma gapps package for the Note 4 because the Open GApps aroma package doesn't work. Are you using hsbadr's lineage on your N910V? The latest build is kinda old which is why you may be having problems with 4G.
Any chance of getting official build version?
Issues with battery life
Hi! First of all, thanks to all developers, this wouldn't be possible without you, I've been using this rom quite a while, and it's amazing, just a few questions, the battery optimization isn't as great as I wish it would be, is there any kernel to increase battery life? If there's any i would be more than happy to try it, i've been in love with this rom, it's simply brilliant, Thanks for your support and your hard work... Cheers
Hello,

I'm trying to update my modem (as recommended by ripee), but my baseband is n910w8vlu1dpe2. I did find a file for n910w8vlu1dpi2, but no 'PE2.
It's a SM-N910W8 from Rogers in Canada.
What modem firmware should I use?
Thanks!

What is the correct model fo my Galaxy S5?

I bought a Galaxy s5 on Amazon a few years ago, and now I want to give it to my child. The phone is not rooted, and the current version of the OS is 5. I wanted to upgrade it to 6 (in order to install the family link app) but I have got an auth error in odin with several firmwares that I tried to install. I am now trying to find the exact model of the phone, but I am really confused:
On the one hand - on the sticker behind the battery it is written SM-G900F, this is also the model that I see in the phone's setting, the PDA version is G900FXXU1POEC, and the CSC version is G900FOJV1POF1.
On the other hand, the bootloader version is G9006VZNU1BOE3, this is also the baseband version, and when I entered into download mode the model of the phone is SM-G9006V
So what is the correct phone version? Which firmware should I download?

I don't have either variants you had mentioned myself but, it looks like you have the following SM-G900F device...
https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/galaxy-s5/firmware/SM-G900F/XSG/
... with the following firmware that was originally flashed.
https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/galaxy-s5/firmware/SM-G900F/XSG/download/G900FXXU1POEC/48069/
That's the original firmware before the firmware was changed to the SM-G9006V.
This was possible because the SM-G900F device is an international variant. The international variants comes with its Bootloader already unlocked.
I hoped that I had clarified this okay via text...
Good Luck!

I am not sure. I tried to install the firmware that you mentioned, but still got the fail (auth) error in odin. I checked my IMEI and it says that the phone model is Galaxy S5 G9006V. What is this model?

I really can't elaborate much more than I did since I never had those variants myself.
Maybe @curiousrom can be more helpful since he's got the G900F variant too?

...auth error in odin with several firmwares that I tried to install. I am now trying to find the exact model of the phone...
...on the sticker behind the battery it is written SM-G900F, this is also the model that I see in the phone's setting, the PDA version is G900FXXU1POEC, and the CSC version is G900FOJV1POF1.
...the bootloader version is G9006VZNU1BOE3, this is also the baseband version, and when I entered into download mode the model of the phone is SM-G9006V...

Stickers can be changed & users may install the wrong stuff on their S5.
The only way to know the truth about what is your S5 model is to turn off the phone & boot in Odin Mode (aka Download mode): press and hold Home + Power + Volume Down buttons and confirm with Volume up to Continue.
What is the PRODUCT NAME that you can see after you accept the disclamer?
I mean like in the attach photo.
Then you can go to a site like https://www.sammobile.com/ and get the most recent Samsung firmware for your model which will also install the proper modem & bootloader (named aboot on the S5). See the Instructions (1 file) chapter in their download pages which applies to the S5.

Why not upgrade to Android 9.0 on which is based LineageOS 16.0 if your S5 model is compatible.
See S5 super clean install.
My Galaxy S5 G900M LineageOS 16.0 klte + Open GApps Pico + LineageOS AddonSU is running great after doing a clean install 4 months ago.

"SM-G9006V..." - Bad news. You got scammed like the user in this thread for example Galaxy S5 SM-G9006V Variant issues:
I hope someone can help me here as im struggling for the last 12 hours and im completely lost now.
So my gf bought a Galaxy S5 off of amazon a while back and according to the software, it had Stock Android 5.0 for G900F loaded on the phone.
When booting into Recovery(TWRP) it seems that it was infact a G9006V and not a G900F variant. So in short, someone was dishonest and sold a Chinese variant as an international Variant. {bold by me}

The only stock Samsung 6.0.1 that you can install on your SM-G9006V was made for China Unicom and it does not include the Google framework which is required to install Play Store & many apps thanks to the Great Firewall of China censorship policy: https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/galaxy-s5/firmware/SM-G9006V/
You can find other similar cases with this search: site:forum.xda-developers.com/ SM-G9006V
AFAIK you have 3 options:
Keep the phone as it is.
Try to find some modified Samsung 6.0.1 or other custom firmwares on XDA that would work on your SM-G9006V.
Do a full TWRP backup then update to the awesome LineageOS 16.0 as described here including updating TWRP (SM-G9006V compatible version) & the modem & bootloader for the SM-G9006V. The post includes links to pages explaining how to do that: S5 super clean install
Edit: I did no search very hard but could not find an Odin flashable modem & bootloader package for the SM-G9006V. So in that case installing the most recent stock Samsung 6.0.1 for SM-G9006V will update your modem/baseband to G9006VZNS1CRH1 + the bootloader then you flash TWRP then you can flash LineageOS + Open GApps (for the Play Store).
WARNING: Do NOT flash any bootloader not made specifically for the SM-G9006V.

So, from what I understand, do you recommend that I'll first download and flash the stock 6.01 for SM-G9006V, which is China unicorn, and then I'll install LineagaOS 16.0?

Yes because the fingerprint sensor will not work with your old Android 5.0 modem & bootloader in Android 9.0 on which LineageOS 16.0 is based besides probably giving you better network reception & better battery life.
But as described in S5 super clean install: stock Samsung firmware > with your SIM inserted make sure you get network signal & data then write down the APN settings: Settings > More networks > Mobile networks > Access point Names (and/or make some screenshots of it: volume down + Power buttons, should be saved in internal sdcard > DCIM > Screenshots). That's just in case you have a network access problem in LineageOS. > install TWRP using Odin3 (see Flashing TWRP Recovery on Samsung Firmware chapter) > Backup the EFS partition to the external Micro SD card using TWRP while still running the stock Samsung firmware > install LineageOS + Open GApps.
Just curious: could you make some screenshots of all the installed apps in the stock China S5 Samsung firmware please? You need to copy or move them to computer before installing LineageOS because they will be erased if you use Format Data in TWRP which is recommended.
Because you have less than 10 posts @ the present you can't post links or attach images as per XDA's rules I think. You can post anything in the XDA Off-topic forum until you reach 10 posts: https://forum.xda-developers.com/general/off-topic which is preferable or upload them somewhere and post a broken link with spaces like https ://forum.xda-developers .com & we will understand.
BTW in LineageOS the screenshots are saved in internal sdcard > Pictures > Screenshots. APN: Settings > Network & internet > Mobile network > expand Advanced > scroll all the way down to > Access Point Names (APN)… works on my Galaxy S5 G900M LineageOS 16.0.
"...which is China unicorn" - Maybe they do have some unicorns in China but in this case it's China Unicom.

As long if you know your working APN settings. The reason is some network providers may not be in the LineageOS providers files or some providers do not like custom firmwares.
What is your network provider + country & do you have LTE on the status bar?
Tip: go to your XDA profile in this panel https://forum.xda-developers.com/profile.php?do=editprofile and add info > Devices: Samsung Galaxy S5. > Additional Information > Service provider as it's useful for troubleshooting & it will show when clicking the arrow under the username in a browser. Also > City & Home country & then you will get a flag under your username which gives an international flavor to the XDA threads IMO.
Note: @postai you have to make a new EFS partition backup after updating to 6.0.1 as it will modify some files in that partition.

No because TWRP is flashed with Odin & Odin is a good that can do many things.
Then with an unlocked bootloader (which is the case for most S5 klte variants out-of-the-box including yours except for the SM-G900V) TWRP can flash a .zip firmware. Root is to do stuff while running in System.
I updated S5 super clean install with some stuff about root after flashing LineageOS.
You said in post #1 that the S5 was for your child. How old is he or she?

He is 12. I wanted to install Google family link before I am giving him the phone. However, this app does not work on Lollipop, thus I started the adventure of upgrading the OS (which turns out to be longer than I expected)

Yes after flashing TWRP on your S5 running Samsung stock 6.0.1 you can use it to restore a TWRP backup.
That feature is awesome as you can try different custom firmwares and quickly return to your current state.
If you don’t have a network problem restore only Boot (which is the kernel & not the S5's aboot - bootloader), System (Android OS) & Data (Apps) according to the principle: if it ain't broken, don't fix it as Samsung stock 6.0.1 will modify modem & EFS partition.

Just a small update: I finally succeeded to download the Chinese firmware to my PC, and installed it through Odin (this is the first firmware that didn't give me the "Auth" error).
All my apps are still there, but all Google apps (Play, Maps, YouTube, etc.) and Chrome are not working. I get an error message that they need to be updated, but when I try to resolve it nothing happens. I will now try to do a clean install of LineageOS.
I don't think I'll backup the current version, since I won't restore it anyway. If something goes wrong with the LineagaOS installation I'll try to use my current backup and restore the original Android 5.

That's the Great Firewall of China censorship policy in action.
I wonder how your other apps got restored as the Samsung Firmware should have wiped everything. Did your apps downloaded automatically after signing in a Google account? If so that's weird as you are saying that Play Store is disabled as expected.

Just skip the modem & bootloader update step.

The Samsung firmware didn't wipe everything. I even didn't have to sign-in again in a Google account.
However, it did change the recovery, so I had to reinstall TWRP. I will do the clean install of LineageOS and report back...
Another update: I followed the instructions and installed LineageOS successfully.
Everything went flawlessly, except for the launcher. I tried the first option, from Google, and I entered an endless loop of errors. The app keep crashing and tried to load itself again and again. Somehow I succeed to set the other launcher to be the default, I think the name is Trebuchet, and then everything worked.
I also installed Family link, and everything is working perfectly. Thanks curiousrom!
