I'm on Nougat, rooted, and am wondering if there's a way to get the WiFi Hotspot working without having it in your plan. I have Sprint service. Thanks in advance.
There is a method, if you are willing to research it via google, that requires a modification to build.prop.

I dont think this works anymore with N
I have never had any issues getting tethering to work until installing Nougat now the build prop mods and the put global tether_dun_required 0 dont seem to work. Are you referring to a new build.prop mod specifically for N?

I have Sprint, Rooted and Stock ROM. Just flashed the OTA to get N. The tether build prop mod still works for me. It is the same one I used with MM, net.tethering.etc....
Not working for me either after updating to N. Even if i try the mod again it wont take it. If anyone know how to go around this please post it here.

Edit the build.prop and add the line (to the bottom):
"net.tethering.noprovisioning"=true.
Enjoy.
P.S. I'm on N and it works.

There's got to be another variable. Not sure what it is, but I'm on AT&T, and have edited my build.prop with what I posted above, saved it, rebooted, and my wi-fi hotspot works.

Sprint here... have been using mods for tethering for years and this is the first time it has not worked for me, it is actually reverting my build.prop and removing my modifications....
I'm tired of jumping through the hoops, I am switching to Google fi which allows tethering....
I added the same line to the build prop & still no dice for hotspot...on Sprint
Edit: i rechecked the line and seem to added an extra character....it now works fine

For those that want access again to App Ops in 4.4.2 / KOT49H (Google's build), just flash this zip. It's for deodex or stock odex and it will work with ART.

I mean, I think you edited the settings apk in order to bring back the code lines changed from 4.4.1 to 4.4.2, but how?

Was this mod supposed to have app ops under security settings? If not then would we just have to follow the last part of the How To guide on how to get app ops to show under security settings?

It enables App ops so you'd be able to use an app from the playstore to be able to access it, the only way I think to actually get it under the security settings is to follow his guide. If you are using a deodexed (odex too but you have to odex the apk) Rom however you can simply copy the settings apk and replace it with the original one, change permissions, reboot, and boom there you go, that's one way.
Hi all,
I suppose this mod will be overwritten with 4.4.3 update?
can this Mod be flashed/used on latest 4.4.3 Update too or do we need a new version?

Clever answer... the whole POINT of asking in a forum is to benefit from other users experiences to avoid unneccessary damages/errors before making them myself.
I don´t have the OTA yet on my N5, so I can´t even try myself ...
FYI, the flashable zip didn't work for me. I'll try the DIY method soon...

So I can confirm the MOD also works with 4.4.3 KTU84M !

As the title says, Google has just posted new factory images for our nexus 9.

The changelog is huge. Most fixes are in ART and frameworks but there are still some nexus 9 specific changes.
Have fun flashing
And don't forget to tell us if you notice any changes

Most if not all are under the hood bug fixes by all accounts. All works fine, dare I say it, but battery life seems a little better as well. The changelog is posted in a reply post if you really need to read everything Google have done.

Thanks for the feedback.
First of all, I know, it may sound stupid , but I couldn't help myself not posting it
Please read through and tell me what you think..
I found this tutorial in the RN3 forums and it's for 7.x roms (doesn't make any sense ,though) , but I thought, at least we could use the procedure..
Here is the link
http://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-3/development/volte-patches-nougat-based-cm-roms-t3509257
I know it's for another device, and for the nougat.. but
Reasons that made me think that it might be possible are
1. I checked the zip provided by that dev, it has nothing to do with the boot partition and it only alters and adds some files to system partifion, which , I think , can be ported or back ported to other devices
2. Procedure includes a framework-res.apk edditing, which can also be done with any device..
I know, it might not be possible, but I think, it might be helpful..wether it's not, let's discuss
I posted it because, there are so many people, forcing themself to use emui, with watever the lag, JUST BECAUSE OF VOLTE...
i tried it now, but my apktoll always fails me at recompiling..
anyone else tried it?

VOLTE stands for voice over LTE. Your phone uses LTE network to transmit and receive voice calls resulting in a much better sound quality.
