Is it possible to assign hardware button to camera ? - ZTE Axon 7 Questions & Answers

Is it possible to press hardware button like volume up or volume down to launch camera when phone is not ON ?
I could not find a way to assign key to camera.

Nope. Just the shortcut on the lock screen.

You can set the fingerprint reader to take a picture when holding it while in the camera app.

If you use nova launcher, you can setup a "double tap" of the home button to open the camera .

I hope that they add this to the next release of the software. I think that double-clicking the power button to launch the camera is a default function in Marshmallow and I am not sure why they disabled it.

If I tap twice on the power button when screen is off, it launches the camera. EU version on B05 (worked on B03 too I think).

Are you rooted?

No, as stock as it can be.

This sounds perfect and I wish I could do this on an A2017U running B27.

the Standy button isn't a normal hardkey.

yep u r right
I'd suggest you assign the Camera button as "ok" that way the camera won't launch if you hit it by mistake. It just means you'll have to use an on-screen shortcut to start the camera. Once the camera is open, the button will function as normal.

Assigning Buttons

Okay, I can see that I can assign long-press Send and End keys, but I want to assign a function to the Back key (short press) - can it be done?
since i come from trinity - which had the scrolling wheel - I'd like to replace the volume buttons with "almost equivalent" functionality....possible at all? don't know...
I'm not sure that Volume slider has been mappable on any of these devices. Previously I used SPB PocketPlus to map buttons, but on the HD the poplists in the setup don't work so I can't try it...
I am currently using AEBPlus to assign the buttons.I was able to map volume up, volume down and ok buttons to various functions. But unfortunately I am unable to map the HOme button. Can anyone let me know how to assign some functions for HOme button using AEBPlus please?
regards
vijay
Brilliant! AE Button Plus works perfectly, OK=Back. I love this site...

You don't need to ask the same question wherever you go and also create a thread for that!
ok
i see what you mean. I just figured it might not get read if here at the end of an older thread... hehe you mods notice everything ;-)
Can someone tell me if AEBPlus could reassign the phone on and off buttons too? I would like to use these buttons for other purposes and just use the screen to operate the phone, if possible.

Could you explain how to configure to apply to on off button.
Aside from that, does someone know how to get "long" working?
It tried to give the "Back arrow" additional functions.
1,2,3 times work fine, but long does not.
Also what is the default action of "Back arrow"
I do not find it on the list? Which number
So I could configure 1 times with default action
and 2 and 3 with something else.
Home button on AE plus
Has anyone found the home button "name" in AU Button plus yet?
This thread mentioned the name for the "back"-button is "OK" in AE button plus and that does work. (except foor the long press option, that I could not get to work, but double tap works fine)

pzucchel, I'm with you! I've realised that I actually used the scroll wheel on the Trinity much more than the D-pad, so AE buttons is a godsend!
I've got volume up/down to become arrow up/down, but how about the Trinity press-to-select on the scroll wheel? I can't get the long press on the vol buttons to work otherwise it'd be perfect...
What version of AEBPlus are you using?
I installed AEBPlus 2.6.3 to enable turning the screen while pressing the volume up button.
This version is a 14 day trail version, there is however a freeware 1.0.1 version but that one is not officialy supporting the Blackstone.
Which version are you using? I find $14 a lot for changing the behaviour of one key...
AEButton will NOT stop working after 14 days, and all the functions you really want will still be there
What is the difference between trial and registered version?
Two things only:
1. Splash screen appears during device starting up.
2. "Action list" is blocked in trial mode

Good to know! Didn't see that when reading the website...
Anyway - is there an easy trick to assign the "volume up" pressed for >1 sec to rotating the screen to landscape (270 deg) and portrait?
/me is thinking of a registry tweak...
I just got a Touch HD and installed AE Button Plus and it works great for assigning different tasks for the button below the screen.
However I have not been able to find a which button in AE Button (if any) that corresponds to the Home button. Has anyone else here been able to assign any tasks to double-clicking the Home button?

OK, I can see that you want to push your own solution but as far as I can see it does not support the Home button either. Also it supports a lot fewer actions than AE Button Plus does.

volume keys as camera laucher

hi all is it possible to make the camera boot and take pictures with the volume up hardware button, i find my self not needing the volume keys so this would make taking pictures easier for me
thanks all
You can even assign different functions to the volume keys, e.g. single press for volume up, long press for camera, with AEButton Plus.
ok will give this go does this app allow taking pictures while in the app? or just bootup app
If you assign the 'enter key' function to a volume key as well, you can also take pictures.
E.g. long press to launch camera, sinlge press for taking the picture (if you don't need the volume up function) OR long press for camera, double press for volume up and single press for taking the picture OR any other configuration you like

does the hd have a ok/enter button in which it take pictures as the hd2 doesn't its all screen based
is this correct
No, the HD has no dedicated button as well. It's strange that pressing enter on the HD works but not on the HD2. Are you sure that it doesn't work on the HD2?

Camera button and command button vibration

Hi,
I have two request:
How can I disable vibration when I press Home, Menu and Back buttons?
My camera button doesn't start the application if I press it longtime, and doesn't take a picture, but it works to focus the image... so I think the button is not damaged.... Is it a software issue?
Note: I have a stock rom 1.6.
thanks

you have to press it harder i had this too .. you dont want to ruin it first day , but it seems the device can handle a lot of torture. (this afternoon i used it as ashtray for my spliff.. seems to survive. not that i would advice you to do this . lol )

Fast Capture is available on the Arc!

Just realised something pressing down the camera key and home button together when the screen is off activates the camera similar to the Xperia S saving you even more time then having to slide the camera key. Pressing the camera key on its own doesn't, but good to see Sony gave it to arc users
thought I'd share
Does it work on the beta too? I can't try it because my current ROM has camera button for wake enabled...
Via Tapatalk 2.0 on ICS
Fast capture is shooting photo in "blind mode" and you're just turning on camera ; d but still good though.
Thanks for the info! I didn't know that this existed
You don't need to press both buttons together. Just press the home button first to wake device and then press the camera key.

Yes I know, but its quicker to do that then press them separately in two stages and is less like the fast capture on the XS then
I didn't knew that!
Thanks!
