I recently bought a brand new i9505 while on vacation and would like to use it on the Wind network here in Canada. Given that Wind uses AWS bands 1700/2100, the phone did not work out of the box. However, I read this thread that discusses unlocking AWS on i337 phones which have the same hardware as the i9505 (Qualcomm Processor and 4G). The fix didn't work on the i9505 given the difference in model numbers and the QCN files.
Can anyone help me get access to the correct QCN file for the i9505 to unlock these bands? or if you know of another way to unlock the bands, I would really appreciate your help.
Tried already. DIDNT work.

I have the same issue, got phone from 3 UK, i9505 and paplied the process you have in your link and now all other network modes disappeared.
I don't know how to fix it.
I have the exact same problem as the thread starter too. Got my i9505 from HK and would like to get it working on Wind Mobile/T-Mobile which uses 1700 for AWS. I read the same page about enabling AWS bands for AT&T s4 but the model number is different and the QCN file won't work.
Any helps are appreciated
bump for this, I'm in the same boat, any help would be appreciated. I did however, out of curiosity, try the instructions posted in the OP but it messed up my phones radio and couldnt recognize my bell SIM. Good thing i made a backup of my I9505 QCN before flashing the 337_AWS.qcn file, I was able to restore from the back up.

I've been researching this for a while all over the internet and been hearing mixed things at both ends of the spectrum as to whether it can work or not, if there is a concrete answer to this please post or pm me about it, in all honesty this is the main reason I joined the forum , it would help and i appreciate it greatly

Need help as well
I cannot find a QCN file to save my life for this. I have the nv writer reader program and it works perfectly to restore my IMEI. SaHiLzZ, do you have a file that would unlock ATT or TMobile bands? Or perhaps we can develop a guide of what NV items to modify to unlock bands? As far as I know it is a world edition phone and is compatible with all GSM and LTE frequencies. Mine makes calls on a SIM, but no data.
Me as well, looking for i9505 qcn to enable aws 1700/2100 bands

You can count me in on this.
I am also looking to enable AWS on my recently acquired S4 i9505.
Has anyone tried one of those many tutorials to unlock LTE band 4 on i9505? Sorry for bumping this, but I've found some traces here and there, but no confirmation
I tried it and nearly bricked the phone.
Hi all,
I have a Rogers LG G2 D803. I'm trying to enable AWS bands, and to do this I'd like to attempt to restore a TMO EFS backup. I'm doing this because I want my Rogers phone to work on WIND.
If it works, it means we might be able to enable bands that devices aren't supposed to support, like switching between TMO and AT&T bands, or even unlocking them all! But to test if this might work I need a TMO EFS to restore, as just flashing the TMO modem locks down my radio.
Just PM me if you're willing to share one, thanks!

EFS is a Samsung term, not an LG or universal term. What you want is a .QCN (QPST) backup with the IMEI stripped out. I've done this mod on my AT&T S4 and Note 2, so I know where you got the idea from.

Thanks for the encouragement. As it happened, I did use the EFS backup in TWRP and restored a TMO EFS. It didn't work - My phone kind of just refused to cooperate. I have a feeling that between the D801 and D803, there are some hardware incompatibilities. Until a real dev gets this phone and plays with band settings, we won't see this stuff happening.
In any case, I returned my Rogers G2 and ordered a T-Mobile one off eBay today.
I have an x720 and have been reading on how to unlock band 17 and 12 for at&t and t-mobile LTE service. As of right now I have some limited LTE service on band 2 and 4 (at&T) but it leaves much to be desired.
I see everyone here flashing the x720 firmware to get their x727 bootloader unlocked and then flashing back to the USA Firmware to get their LTE bands back. Is the reverse possible for the x720? Can I flash the USA firmware to get the LTE bands? Will this re-lock my bootloader?
I tried flashing the modem fix from https://forum.xda-developers.com/le-pro3/how-to/flashing-guide-roundup-leeco-le-pro-3-t3511901 on my x720 and now my sim card is being detected even after a wipe and reflashing my rom. So I'm assuming i'm gonna have to go back to stock firmware anyway. I've been a long time flashoholic and modder and I'm dedicated to getting this to work for us x720 people in the US.
What about this guide for the le max 2? I've heard all qualcomm devices can benefit from this procedure:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/le-max-2/how-to/guide-unlock-bands-leeco-le-max-2-fix-t3439154
UPDATE: Fixed no sim error after flashing x727 modem.
Downloaded a stock version of the Chinese Firmware and extracted the zip, then booted into fastboot and flashed the modem. You need the NON-HLOS.bin file. Then run "fastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin" and reboot! Voila. But still no band 17
I think unlocking the bands is not as easy as just flashing a ROM. When I was investigating OnePlus 3T, there is a long thread about it and basically band unlocking requires a lot of tools, some from Qualcomm and not easy to get, and a process that is not for noobs, not even for "professional TWRP flashers" but hardware-engineering-mode noobs anyway.
You can have a look here on how complicated it is (OP3T forum):
https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3/how-to/guide-unlock-additional-lte-bands-t3519563
Initially I liked OnePlus3T more because of optical stabilizer in camera, but lack of bands (or better to say, their separation into North American and European version) was a no-go for me. I need bands 2, 3, 4 & 20 and there is not a from-factory OP3T with those 4 bands in one device. Band unlocking might be possible but I would not risk messing with a $450 hone to get bands 3 & 20 unlocked on NA version. So I went with Le Pro 3 X720 and I am a happy camper.
So unless you know what you are doing, or are an adrenaline junkie, I would not mess with band unlocking.
I would absolutely LOVE to see an answer and/or progress on this EXACT scenario being made. Both myself and my wife have Le Pro 3's because of the universal network band support and INSANE performance of this phone (I've literally never seen such a performer with such large battery AND ridiculous band support at such a cost effective price) ((I bought both for $249 each).
I would LOVE to be able to buy the Chinese version with the 6G of ram, and then unlock the NA bands, specifically and especially bands 2,4,12,17,and 20 would be needed for our phones. So I'm super interested in this. You want to do exactly what I'd like to do, although you have the Chinese phone in your hand and I don't.
Both of our phones (x727) are bootloader unlocked, rooted, and TWRP recovery installed on stock .21S done by myself. So if there's anything I can help with, let me know.
Are you rooted? Download Network Signal Guru and lock bands under the menu in the top-right. See what LTE bands are listed there.

Yeah I've read through that process before I posted. I don't know if I'd call that "hardware-engineering" just because it puts a device into serial mode and communicates with NV memory.... I used qualcomm's boarddiag tool to unbrick a nexus 5 with the serial connection... doesn't seem any different at all actually :fingers-crossed:
I'm not ruling that out as a method, however I think we may have hope to do it easier. The x727 has been many times on this forum successfully flashed to x720 firmware. Everyone who did this reports the loss of usa bands though i have not seen confirmation that they GAIN additional chinese bands. That indicated to me that the baseband/modem is the only difference between the x727 having band 12 and the x720 not having it. We just need to tweak the x720 modem with the bits from the x727 modem.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/le-pro3/how-to/flashing-guide-roundup-leeco-le-pro-3-t3511901 In this thread there are several users that say they successfully flashed their x720 with x727 firmware and had full LTE, however there are also users reporting flashing the x727 firmware gives them a "no sim card detected". The latter was my experience. I believe this has to do with the switch from dual sim cards to single sim cards, i tried several build.prop tweaks to try and resolve with no luck.

From my x720: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 ,7, 8, 20, 38, 39, 40, 41
I think that's what is officially listed online. Most people in the US would be fine with this except the notable lack of band 12(tmobile) and 17(at&t).

Then let's get started! Looks like all we are missing from your list is band 12 and 17.
Can you get me a dump of the baseband? I'd like to start digging into it and compare the x720 and x727.
I may try the qualcomm tools if I get the chance this weekend. If I have success and don't brick my phone I'll do a write up specifically for the LP3...

Sure man, I'm totally down to help however I can. I've never dumped a baseband before (never had the need) so the process eludes me, but I'm more than happy to perform whatever steps needed to do so.
Just give me a detailed rundown on how to do it or what tools/commands to run and I'll have it done for you ASAP. You can privately message me if you'd like, makes no difference to me. Give me the knowledge and I'll give you the love.

I'm going to see how complicated it is and if that negates the time we are spending here first.
I am having the exact same issue as the OP. Any movement on a solution. I am willing to help/test. Not a noon but far from an engineer.
Question, how do I unlock the bootloader now? With the us servers down I can't get twrp files. Also, I can't unlock the bootloader with adb. I'm trying to flash Lineage OS onto my x727. All help is appreciated, thanks.

Hello good people,
I live in the UK, where the V20 was not released.
I have bought the AT&T unlocked H910 from Ebay, as it was stating that it works in the UK,
but the LTE band used by my carrier 800 MHz band 20 is not available on this phone.
"LTE band 1(2100), 2(1900), 3(1800), 4(1700/2100), 5(850), 7(2600), 12(700), 29(700), 30(2300)"
I have followed some of the noob guides and reading for days I believe that I have successfully rooted the phone, (shows in root checker). - as after some reading I was led to believe that by rooting the phone i would be able to change these settings via an app. however this did nothing for me.
could someone please kindly point me in the direction so that I can mod this so that the phone picks up and communicates with the correct Band? is this possible at all? or should i just try to return this to stock and return the phone?
or is this a situation where i just bought myself a small tablet?
I would be grateful for any help in solving this issue,
Many thanks in advance ! :good:

Hi
You need to get into the service menu on the 910 and search for the 20 band and enable it. Sorry I cannot be more specific. You can google for the code(s) that will get you into the service menu.
I have a V20 but it is Verizon vs995 which has the correct bands but for some reason will not work with EE 4G only 3G.

Thank you for your reply,
I have tried this, i think i can get in by code *#546368#*910# assuming that this is what you are talking about?
this will take me to hiddenmenu
with 4 sub menues
- device test
- ELT Test
- SVC Test
- Field Test
I believe that i've seen people try to access the modem settings in the field test option
and i have seen that people get 3 or more options in this place, (third allowing you to select band) where as I only get 2
- Engineering mode
- PDP settings
do you know why the option does not appear for me?
- Would there be a chance that the option was hidden from the start by AT&T ?
Also I did not do LGUP dump before the root where many people in their guides have pointed out to
do, i followed a guide which does not involve LGUP to attempt to root my phone, should I try to flash the phone in a different firmware to try to unlock the mode ? along with the LGUP dump ?
again, thanks for the response !
Sorry, don't know but have you tried SVC entry I seem to remember some in the US using that to alter their Band.
The code you used does not work for me on my V20 in fact apart from IMEI code *#06# no codes work o. My phone.

If you are in the UK then you don't need H910 rom. Flash it with US996 [usa] KDZ and that will sort out all the band issues without having to do anything more. Plus get's rid of At&T bloatware as US996 doesn't have any carrier bloat or network restrictions. I'm in Ireland and the rom is working great, 4G+ etc. My phone was originally a Verizon model.
edit: One drawback is you will loose FM radio as it's not on the US996 rom. If you are able to root the fone you can get it back with my mod if your on oreo.
thanks don't want to use the FM radio so will try your mod. Is there a guide to flash US996?
I'm being told in another thread that flashing another rom can't give you extra bands, so I'm a little confused between the contradictory advice.
ROMs do not have anything to do with available bands. Bands are hardware dependant

Your answer is in bold. He just gave bad advice. If you look earlier in the thread the Verizon variant has those bands already.

You can buy a US996 v20 on eBay for $86 with free shipping in the US. Probably your best bet. V30 and G7 unlocked phones aren't too expensive either in good condition, though I have not cross referenced which bands they have, so you'd have to double check. I like the phone myself, might buy a couple so relatives have backup phones.
Let me be clear. The H910, VS995, US996, on a hardware level have exactly the same motherboard, The only difference is the software...the ROM. So for example VS995, US996 don't have FM radio out of the box where H910 does. This is a perfect example of where the sofware has been designed to restricted FM radio leading one to *think* the fone doesn't have FM radio on some models at all but in fact it does.
So, It the same idea for BANDS. A fone MAY be missing bands out of the box because the ROM has been designed to restrict some of the the bands where in reality the fone has those bands. So in that case you can overcome this by changing to a ROM that does not have this restriction enabled in the ROM, in exactly the same way as in the case of FM radio. Carriers do disable bands on fones for their own devious reasons.
I know from experience H910 has hotspot restrictions as well. There is a work around OR you can just flash US996 that does not have this hotspot restriction. Also H910 has restriction in the Mobile Settings section. If you change to US996 there will be extra settings in Mobile networks>System Select settings which are GLOBAL / LTE/CDMA, LTE/GSM/UMTS. These options I'm sure I recall did not show up on H910 rom which could be useful to some.
I did not have an original H910 but all I'm saying is that I'm fairly sure that the motherboard is exactly the same as the other models in which case it will have all the same bands as Verizon and US996, just you can't see them because of H910 software on it. Of course you can't enable bands if they don't exist on the motherboard but you can if they do exist but have been restricted by the ROM.
So to the guy who asked about the H910 you can try to use the service menu to enable bands BUT this is not the best way to do it as the service menu might not let you or maybe the enable doesn't last after rebooting. The best way to fix this is to flash a ROM that does not have network restrictions and then you can forget out it from there on in.

Please see my previous post.
You have 2 options. You can either flash a clean US996 KDZ that you download at https://lg-firmwares.com. You'd need LGUP to flash it, guides on youtube and here, search for them. You don't have to be rooted to flash a new KDZ.
If you are rooted you can just download a custom ROM from here such as WETA ROM US996santa version and flash it in TWRP. You could backup your current system just in case it doesn't solve your problem but even if your problem isn't solved the US996 rom would be better anyway for the other reasons I mentioned in my previous post plus I forgot to add that would get rid of all the AT&T bloatware as well.
thanks for the advice, I'm really struggling to find a guide that matched my requirements or is there a generic guide I can follow. Bit scared as I'm reading some roms will brick the device.
Don't need to root at the moment so hopefully that will make it simpler.

Hi there - can you please point me to the rom you use? I just got a H910 from ebay at&t 'unlocked'. But I found only 2g on the stock rom. Have flashed a variety of U996, H915 (canada), and a H910pr (puerto rico) but can only get 3g sometimes. Some of the android 7 roms don't even have 4g as one of the options. Others do but I cannot select it - only 3g.
I'm in the UK but the 800/1800 bands Ireland uses are also the same for EE in the Uk.
Many thanks!
I recently found out that the mcfg_sw.mbn file somewhere in /firmware/image/modem_pr/mcfg/configs/mcfg_sw may potentially contain modem config options that could enable VoLTE on this phone for US carriers, like T-Mobile US for me. I need the file, preferably from someone with an H918 (since this version supports T-Mobile VoLTE and can connect to band 12, which requires VoLTE to be working). What I want to do is use part of this guide to enable MCFG Buffet and point it to the H918 mcfg_sw.mbn file. So far I am using a "tmo" file I found in that general location under "na" in the mcfg_sw directory, but IMS doesn't connect. Any general help would also be appreciated. Thanks in advance!
