Switch Firmware, - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions & Answers

Hello, xda_developers.
I just got mail S7 Unlocked in the mail that I ordered from eBay, I believe it was a sweet deal CAD $549.99 + tax. I am with Telus BTW. Let's get to the point.
The phone is with Sprint which has bloatware and APN is locked out. I want to flash a new firmware onto the phone without Tripping the Knox. I looked into the 930U Firmware but don't know which one to pick. I looked into the thread: "Bloat free firmware 930U....anyone tried it?" and saw the part about root, so I backed out.
After I looked into the Sprint SM-G930P firmware and saw few different "Regions": SPR, XAS, and VMU. I found"SPR" is Sprint, and "VMU" is Virgin Mobile USA. For "XAS" I am not too sure, but "XAS image has the APN section unlocked". ("Here" )
Afterwards, I found the forum "Found a code...interesting...." and used the code "##BRAND#" and removed the Sprint boot logo, and some bloatware but the APN was still locked out, and still had "Hands-Free Activation".
I need help picking the right Firmware for my phone, which will let me add APN, and remove the "Hands-Free Activation". I do not want or need to root the phone.
The phone is up to the latest update:
Software Version: SG930PVPS2APG1 ,
Hardware version: REV0.6 ,
Baseband version: G930PVPS2APG1 ,
Build number: MMB29M.G930PVPS2APG1 .
I did not want to flash firmware without knowing for sure it will not brick the phone, brand new phone in a long time, I don't want to break it or brick it on the first day.
Aswell, I am not sure if I can flash a Canadian firmware, SM-G930W8 or the Global Firmware, SM-G930F.
Thank you for reading, hope you can help me out.

The 930U firmware will work perfectly fine without root. No bloatware and you can modify the APN's.

the 930U firmware is bloatware free, and I don't have to root the phone? Also does it have the "Hands-Free Activation" or the "Activate this device" in Settings?

It's bloatware free and it doesn't require root. And when I flashed...it simply activated my device and there's no activate device in settings.

alright, thank you very much.
Going to go flash it now
edit: Quick Update, went to flash the G930U files(firmware?) and it all went smoothly. Takes time to register onto network. any fix without root?
edit 2: Just did a factory reset from recovery, seems to have fixed the slow network register
edit 3: The phone seems to run warmer than the sprint firmware, no idea why

Never mind, I am, an idiot.

Congrats on the phone! That is a good deal considering the phone goes for 899 brand new, and I'd assume around 600-750. But with black listing these days I wouldn't trust Kijiji etc.
Your phone should work fine except for LTE. Its missing I believe 2-3 bands for LTE but on the plus side it's the bands that bell/Telus don't really use much like 2600. So if you ever see soneone else have LTE and not you that would be why but, then again the bands you don't have usually are for rural areas
Enjoy the phone

Thank you very much. It's a pretty nice deal, still going on I believe. I don't have to worry about the blacklist. Even without the 2600 band data works great, really don't mind not having a few LTE bands, for the price i got the phone for. With the 930U firmware, it works great.

The U firmware has more/better LTE bands enabled than the Sprint (P) firmware. I strongly doubt it's missing any LTE bands used in Canada.

I believe your correct with the U firmware It shouldn't be missing a band or 2 like it is on the Sprint firmware. But yes about the same price as you'd get it on Kijiji (since there's tax) but it's new and don't have to worry about the blacklist

FWIW - here are the bands that are apparently supported in the 930U firmware. This is band priority list from the LTE section of the ##DATA# menu. Not sure which bands Canada uses, but it looks like the only major one missing might be band 17?

I think the Canadian networks may have started using MFBI on band 12 (like AT&T has). If so then B17 would no longer be necessary in Canada. The best place to verify this might be to post a question about it on the Bell and Rogers forums on Howardforums.

In G930UUEU2APEH thread it is said:
"root with the only g930a method there is right now"
So, this universal firmware can be rooted, right?

Can any one give me the link for downloading the 930U rom for my sprint sm-g930p and are they facing any problem with the same

There are two download links in the OP of this thread. The google drive one appears to be working. That's where I downloaded it from.

Did the actual flash fail, or did one or more of the MD5 checks fail? What version of Odin did you use? If any of the MD5 checks failed, you just need to download the firmware again - your download was corrupted. If the actual flash failed, the most common cause is the USB cable/connection. Try another USB cable, and/or another USB port on your computer, and don't move the phone or computer around while it's flashing. Odin is very temperamental if the connection is not perfect.

Hi i tried again and the rom was successfully flashed. Now the problem is that, it is not accepting my T-mobile sim card and there are still some options missing from the settings menu, such as "mobile networks, wifi calling, hotspot and tethering.. Plz help.. I am so confused

I'm confused too. Are you wanting to use it on Sprint or T-Mobile? Do you have a sprint account, and did your phone activate on Sprint? I don't have any experience using a non-Sprint sim with this phone/firmware. The only thing I can suggest it maybe do a factory reset and go through the setup/activation with the T-Mobile sim already in the phone. Good luck.
If you're wanting to use both Sprint and T-Mobile on this phone, I'm not sure if that's possible. From what I've read elsewhere, even though this firmware is unlocked, it can only be active on one carrier at a time. I don't think you can switch back and forth at will, without activating/deactivating from one carrier to the other. I could be wrong though, as I have not used anything but my original Sprint sim.

[Q] WIND Mobile Galaxy Note 3 SM-N900W8

First time forum user looking for some answers and a bit of help so thanks in advance for anything you can provide!
I just bought a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 from WIND Mobile in Canada. The model number was SM-N900W8. It seems although carriers know the device has the required bands, they limit listing them on their website if they do not support them and go one step further by having Samsung block the bands through some type of software cripple.
My concern is I use WIND Mobile when local and Telus Mobility when in fringe areas which WIND Mobile does not cover. Prior to buying this device from WIND outright, I confirmed with Samsung live chat support this specific model from WIND will support LTE on Telus. I was told I must first activate the device on WIND and they once I unlock the device, I can configure the Telus APN settings for use on the Telus network. When I do this, I get a max speed of 3G and in the network connections, it does not show: LTE/WCDMA/GSM (auto connect) but instead, the 3 original modes which you can select when on WIND Mobile: WCDMA/GSM (auto connect), WCDMA only and GSM only.
It seems as if the unlock and APN settings are the first 2 parts but in order for LTE to work, you must disable the cripple which Samsung has implemented for it's distribution to WIND Mobile since they do not support that frequency or radio band. My concern is it looks as if this must be done through a root or flash and I hear about phones getting bricked. I paid a lot of money for the device and cannot afford to damage it so do not know what options I have.
If I do enable LTE through a flash and then get an OTA Samsung update, will this remove the flash? How must I go about getting LTE enabled permanently without issue or is this not possible? Thank you for the help!

Thank you so much. I will follow this guide word for word but is there any risk of bricking my phone like I have read so much about? The last thing I want to do is mess something up and have a paperweight.
If I root the device as suggested and receive an OTA notification from Samsung to update the software, will this lock everything again and make me go through the procedure all over again or will it be permanently enabled? Thanks!

So, I rooted the device and assume it was successful since I have the SU (Super User) App installed. I ran the TWRP file which I assume is the OS which enables all the crippling Samsung initially implemented when releasing this phone to WIND Mobile but the problem still stands. I have entered all the correct APN settings for Telus yet it still only provides a 3G connection. Have I done something wrong and can any of you gurus familiar with rooting and updating a custom OS provide some insight. Thanks!
I think I'm worse than a noob. At least they can figure this stuff out! I followed the quick root steps and the twrp steps but was I supposed to do something else to enable LTE? The phone is definitely rooted and has the SU App installed. TWRP just seems like a program which allows installation of a custom ROM directly from the device but I may be wrong. My concern is the TWRP file I downloaded looks as if it's a tar file which the phone loads allowing HSPA and LTE capability. If so, it did not work on my WIND device.
You can't get the OTA if you have custom recovery installed. I.e. TWRP or CWM. You gotta wait for custom roms. I don't know about the lte thing

yea you're totally wrong here man... not sure how to enable lte capability, but wind's network is hspa+ already so that's enabled.
i do know you have to unlock it, likely with a sim unlock code or getting someone to unlock it, but after that, the theory is, that it should work.....
WIND is 4G and I have unlocked the device already. I am using a Telus SIM card and have correctly entered the Telus APN settings for LTE but it does not show LTE as a network mode which I can select. Seems to me Samsung has crippled this band since WIND does not support it. Since I have rooted the device, which I probably didn't need to do, I was hoping to find a flash which will permanently enable the LTE so it will function on Telus.
To use Telus LTE you need to switch to the Telus SIM card
then it should read the Telus APN from it, if not you can enter the Telus LTE APN and it should use it

I have done this already. The steps followed to date are as follows:
Purchased my WIND Mobile Galaxy Note 3 (model: SM-N900W8)
Unlocked the device through cellunlocker.net for 32.99 USD
Placed my Telus SIM into the device and it read the details. I was able to call and text without issue but did not have data connectivity. Contacted Telus and received the Telus LTE APN details and entered this information. Unfortunately, the network mode only shows 3 options: WCDMA/GSM (auto-connect), WCDMA only and GSM only.
There should be a fourth option for LTE capability but this is not displaying. I rooted my device and followed the TWRP step thinking this TWRP file was the rom to enable the LTE capability which seems to be locked but this is not the case. I am way off here but know it's probably something simple which I am missing!
yes, the 4th option for the LTE needs to flash another modem
i got it working here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=46259468&postcount=39
find any of the Note 3 threads with flash-able modems, and flash the one from Puerto Rico that enables the LTE

To confirm your above statement, am I going to the following page and downloading the firmware for Puerto Rico?

you only need the modem, you don't need to flash an entire ROM.
there was a reference topic with a list of downloads for all different modems for the Note 3 in the General section of this Note 3 portion of the forum. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2475714
they are still uploading all the different models, you you might want to wait a bit, or you can extract it on your own, if you know how to do that from an odin .tar file.

Following the link you provided, it indicates the modem for model SM-N900W8 is "coming soon..." so it does not look like a modem is available for my model at this time. I tried looking for the Puerto Rico modem flash which you used but I do not see reference to it.
I was going to install the SM-N900W8 ROM for telus which would have the modem but as research indicates, if you install the wrong carrier ROM, you brick your device. I may have misinterpreted this but the last thing I wish to do is brick my device and have an expensive paper-weight in the end. Thanks again!

So I just got my phone unlocked with cellunlocker.net code, threw in a bell SIM and rebooted etc, it worked and was pretty quick but nothing too incredible. Was getting top download speeds of about 750kb/s (or 6mbps) whereas on wind I'd get about half that tops in my current location. My question here is, the phone said 3g....to me that seems way too fast for 3g but not nearly right for lte and I also couldn't see lte as an option for the bands. I assume that's cuz I still had the wind modem on the phone? Even when I went into the *#2263# screen to enable lte it still didn't work....
Any ideas? Should I flash the Puerto Rico Rom? Does it still work on wind bit just also let you use the lte radios when the correct SIM is in?

I'm really new to this but hopefully this will clarify some info regarding WIND and please correct me should I be wrong. There are two things when working with a phone. Customization to the OS and proper data connection. If you wish to tweak your device, push it to the limits and customize your OS settings, you can root your device.
If you wish to just enable LTE so you can use it on an LTE capable network like Telus, Bell or Rogers in Canada, you must flash the proper modem file to enable LTE. As I understand, the Puerto Rico Modem Flash will allow you to enable LTE data on the WIND Mobile variant of the Note 3. You can get the Puerto Rico Modem Flash from Post #27 by AllGamer at the following link:

Thank you for your reply. I am not sure why everything sounds so complicated.
I was able to flash a small file to my S4 (rogers) to enable the WIND bands. The phone did not need to be rooted, ODIN worked like a charm and my S4 became pentaband
This ordeal with the note 3 is not as straight forward. I have been following all your post but I see that you have not received any straight forward answers to your questions. I am not an expert when it comes to rooting or flashing so I would love a simple way of doing this.
Thank you again, lets hope that we will find an easy way to do this

Want to Flash AT&T or Unlocked Firmware on T-Mobile Device - A Few Questions

So I've spent a few hours searching XDA to find the right resources on how to flash a different U.S. carrier's GS7 Edge firmware on the T-Mobile branded device. I found out that since all the internal hardware for all U.S. devices are identical, I'd be able to flash any one carrier's firmware on to any carrier's device, provided there are no inconsistencies with the bootloader versions of the firmwares.
The phone is intended for an extended family member and I am able to purchase a T-Mobile GS7 Edge for significantly cheaper than from any other carrier. Because it will be used on AT&T's network, I wanted to make sure I got everything right before I get started. I either want to flash the AT&T version which will allow it to be fully compatible on the network, or the Unlocked version. Apparently, the unlocked version is completely debloated since it's not associated with any carrier and provides better benchmarks, especially battery life, so I'm interested in that.
I've compiled the resources I need in the following:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/att-s7-edge/how-to/firmware-att-s7-edge-g935a-official-t3412312
https://forum.xda-developers.com/att-s7-edge/help/att-t-mobile-bootloader-version-t3473281

http://updato.com/firmware-archive-select-model?q=SM-G935U&order=date&dir=desc&exact=1
etc.
One question I have is whether I am able to flash the Unlocked firmware at all. I don't currently have the device in hand so I can't check the baseband version, but my understanding is that the Unlocked version is currently on a lower bootloader version whereas it is v4 for AT&T or T.Mobile. This would mean I would be able unable to flash the Unlocked firmware if the device already has a higher version of the bootloader, right? Conversely, I would be able to do so if the T-Mobile bootloader was on the same version as the Unlocked version (e.g., if the device hasn't had an update to its bootloader).. The same issue would arise if I wanted to go back to a carrier firmware. Where can I find a list of T-Mobile firmwares and their bootloader versions so that I can check? Threads I've searched are saying I can't go to 935U from 935A/T because of mismatching bootloaders but others are saying I can go back to 935A/T on Nougat (same bootloader versions?) so clarification would be greatly appreciated.
Edit: Just discovered the bootloader version can be determined by looking at the 9th character in the baseband version. Pretty simple!
Another question I have is whether flashing the AT&T firmware will give me VoLTE, Wifi Calling, tethering, etc. on AT&T's network. I've established that if I flashed the Unlocked firmware, I'll lose these functions (unless I root the phone, but that's a no-go since I need Samsung Pay intact). Just wanted to make sure that I would retain these features if I flashed the AT&T firmware on the T-Mobile device. Also, would I receive all OTAs pushed from AT&T while I'm on their firmware, even though it was a T-Mobile device? Or would I have to manually update it somehow?
Many thanks in advance.
Yes you can flash the unlocked firmware, I do recommend flashing the at&t CP (radio) though for better signal.
For tmobile all we lose is video calling, we retain everything else. I can't answer your other questions since I have not used this phone from tmobile on at&t. I have used the at&t model on tmobile with U and had no issues.

^^^^^this man is correct. Also, is the device you want to flash Carrier unlocked? Even though youre flashing a different carriers firmware or even the U firmware I believe the IMEI still needs to be unlocked from the original carrier. Obviously just pop the at&t sim card in the t mobile phone to see if its unlocked. hope this helps.

Yes, it'll be unlocked, so there won't be problems there. If I flash the AT&T firmware and not the Unlocked firmware, I will retain video calling, yes?

flashing the at&t firmware will just be like having an original at&t s7 edge so yes. The Unlocked firmware will be lighter with no video calling(no carrier apps, no carrier boot animation, some of the quick toggles will be different) you will retain VOLTE HD calling, wifi calling(if at&t has that) and with the at&t you will have all the bloat (about 2-3 GB of used storage plus more a tad bit more use on ram usage) which will use more battery. remember like stated above, if you do decide to flash the U firmware, make sure you flash the latest At&t CP being you will have better coverage since youll be on the at&t network.

I was able to flash back to T mobile from the U, I never tried anything with a At&t variant or the at&t firmware
I am also interested. If I flash
1) Will the device status remain "Unmodified" - I use Good for Enterprise for work email and it won't function on rooted or modified devices
2) Will Android Pay Work?
3) Will I get Software updates directly?

I Flashed an AT&T S7 Edge with T-Mobile firmware and:
1) Status remains unmodified
2) Android pay works (as well as Samsung pay)
3) I've already got 2 T-Mobile pushed firmware updates that installed without any issues.
Don't know if this helps, but I'd think it would be the same going from T-Mobile to AT&T.
I did also have to use a modified version of "ODIN" and flash a "PIT" file because T-Mobile has a different partition than AT&T.

Thanks! I am almost ready. Final checks
- I downloaded 935U firmware from here https://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-s7-edge/how-to/4-28-t-mobile-935-firmware-t3597866 (File is G935UUEU4BQD2_G935UOYM4BQD2_TMB.zip)
- I am planning to use ODIN 3.12.7
- Since I am on ATT Network I will use ATT Radio (CP File). I downloaded ATT firmware from here => https://forum.xda-developers.com/att-s7-edge/how-to/odin-files-to-s4bqc2-g935a-t3582874
I will use this CP => CP_G935AUCS4BQC2_CL10280464_QB12904088_REV02_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar
Am I doing everything right?
Should I just flash all U files (including Radio) and flash ATT Radio later?
Please advise
Hi team
I have the tmo ime version of the s7 edge, but flash the ATT firmware BQC2 and now I can not go back to tmobile firmware or the U firmware I got the following error in Odin:
Error device info
Who can help me,?I going to gift my s7 edge to my brother and he is on Tmobile network
Galaxy S7 active
I have a at&t Galaxy S7 active unlocked and i transfer my service to T-Mobile but I am not able to get updates can I flash T-Mobile firmware so I can have the T-Mobile interface and updates. What do I need to do to get the updates.
All US variants can flash the firmware interchangeably. Just download the corresponding firmware and flash everything(Except for the modem if you'd want to keep the original modem). You dont need anything special. If the default odin dont work, then try the comey "cracked" version.

Why is it that we use the CP for AT&T; however, use the Unlocked CP for TMobile? Are the radios the same for the unlocked and T-Mobile variants? Where would I get this information if I needed it in the future?
I have a GS7 edge locked to T-Mobile with the Device Unlock app. Will flashing G9350U firmware unlock my device and bypass the Device Unlock app or will I still need to use this app to unlock?
Radios are different. I flashed ATT Radio after I flashed U firmware. Though honestly I cannot tell the difference

you did the sae thing that I am currently doing. going from tmobile (I believe) to AT&T firmware. I am going from verison (which shouldn't matter) but when I did it the first time odin 3.12.7 gave me a message of success after only one "sector" of the whole thing went green. but the phone rebooted to an error message. did I do something wrong? help??

Sorry not an expert, but I read several times here to use Price COmsy ODIN and I use that one. Please try
OTA Update is not working after changing to U firmware.
I had stock T Mobile last firwmare installed, but I was sick of poor battery and lag
so installed this firmware https://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-s7-edge/how-to/6-8-t-mobile-935u-firmware-qe2-t3619151, full wipe.
Now I have worst battery performance. 12% draining overnight (6 hours) without touching the phone at all. It shows a new update but it fails when I OTA update. looks like the update it's being installed but fails at the end. Don't know what's wrong but totally hate battery.
Edit: Android pay is also not working..

950u downgrade

Ok so I bought a s8 950U the other night and without thinking of root possibilities I updated everything....including software so I'm running 8.0.0 with experience version 9.0.....now in my research only on XDA forums, because it's the only place I trust for my rooting, I'm only finding things for my version to root as long as Its on nougat...now my question is can I downgrade back to nougat using odin? And can I download any firmware from a mobile to do tgis?
Bump please I need help
As long as its bootloader 2 firmware you can dowgrade to nougat

And then you can go here

Next question will this unlock my phone?
Reason I'm doing this is because the person I bought it from said it was a cspire phone and I put my cricket wireless Sim in and it works great but I can't get mms to work and it don't give me an option to turn off 4g or lte and where I live turning off 4g/lte gives me better service in my house
Unlock?? As carrier unlock?? Im a little confused on that one...as for the on/off 4g or lte ..sometimes its due to carrier firmware limitations.. and on the mms you may want to check your apn settings.. i know that because i have att and i flash the the 950u1 firmware and i had to setup the apn to get mms and lte service..
Yes carrier unlock and see I was figuring it had to do with the carriers firmware but I found on sammobile a US version but all it said was US TMK and IS USC and i don't know the difference...still learning that part but I needed to make sure that's the one I needed to get before trying to downgrade and I was hoping the rooting would carrier unlock my phone and possibly get it to where I can turn lte on off....
And as far as the apn settings go I've tried crickets apn settings a couple different times and still not working but my internet works fine unless I'm at home and got 2 bars lte but can't get crap to load

Strange Network Issues With Unlocked SM-G935P (Sprint) on MetroPCS

Hey guys, I could use a little help here. I've done some firmware flashing on phones years ago, so I'm not a total noob, just haven't needed to in a long time.
Anyway, I recently picked up an unlocked Sprint S7 edge (was a really good deal) and I'm trying to use it with Metro now. The issue is this. If I set the network to GSM mode, I can make phone calls just fine, but data is totally not functioning. If I switch it to LTE/CDMA mode, the data works beautifully, but I can't make or receive any phone calls. It just instantly hangs up if I try to dial out or goes to voicemail if someone calls me.
I've activated the IMEI with my carrier and verified that the phone is indeed unlocked. I'm guessing this is just some annoying Sprint bug put in there to make the phone not work right on other providers. Any ideas what needs to be done? Do I need to run a third-party ROM, flash a different modem to it? Something else?
I really appreciate any tips here.

Hi Ivpre,
Thanks for responding. The phone is running Software version G935PVPU6BRD2, baseband version G935PVPU6BRD2, it's HW revision 7.0 and Android 7.0. Kernel version is 3.18.31-12623509.
I've tried using a few SM-G935U ROMs but they all have failed so far and left the phone in a boot loop. Only by reflashing a Sprint ROM am I able to successfully flash it.
I assume I'm just not selecting or finding a ROM that the same or newer version, as I've read about the downgrade issues with the bootloader. Any idea how to match one? I'd be fine with pretty much any ATT/T-Mobile/Metro ROM since that should fix my issue for the time being. A factory unlocked ROM would be nice though.
I have a T-Mobile Sim (same network Metro uses) in my unlocked Sprint S7 Edge. Network mode is set to Automatic and everything works fine.
Did you Add the APN for T-Mobile? I had to add the T-Mobile APN https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-28006
And the ALSO add a second APN named internet, with no other values changed. The 2nd one is the one selected, not sure why, but it works that way.
I would like to flash a T-Mobile Rom or the U Rom but they are on Baseband 4, which will not work since our phones are now on Baseband 6(5th number from the right in the firmware version.)
Did you try changing the APN settings?

So you are using the Sprint firmware on T-Mobile? Everything works well? I'm thinking of jumping to cricket this summer, but one phone is stuck on b5 (the other is still rocking 4), so I was a little worried. So basically you just put in the SIM card and added the APN's?

Yes it was working fine with a T-Mobile Sim card and edited APN's. It is now back on Sprint because T-Mobile coverage is poor/non existent inside my work. I will be porting one of my SERO lines to T-Mobile but keeping one with Sprint. T-Mobile only uses Band 2 and 4 where I live, If you live somewhere that has band 12, it may not be unlocked in the Sprint Firmware.

Doubts before buying it on the Software and its unlocking

Hello, I want to buy this phone since I have seen it in amazon for 360 dollars, my question is that it is AT & T software but unlocked for any operator, is this really the case?
I am reading reviews in Amazon that say it is not really Unlocked and can not be used with other operators.
I want to use it in Argentina with the Personal operator.
If it's carrier unlocked, you can use with any operator.

Thanks, for what I see I got confused with that of GSM or CDMA.
Check the only cheap and unlocked version that I see is the one with the AT & T software, is it easy to change the ROM to the Stock to receive updates?
Or is it better to leave it like this and update over time?

Think again what? You still can't update with AT&T firmware. You're talking about flashing to non-AT&T firmware. But that's a workaround.
Carrier unlocking and using on non-ATT network lets you use the phone, but you won't get updates.
UNLESS YOU FLASH TO COMPLETELY DIFFERENT FIRMWARE, which is another topic.
I'm using the att version of the LGv35 using straight talk on att towers and I receive updates periodically on time no issues. So I would think any US carrier that uses att towers should receive updates.

But the op is asking about non-ATT. That's why he wants "carrier unlocked". Specifically he lives in Argentina, so he will NEVER use AT&T... But there's even people in U.S. who don't use AT&T nor AT&T MVNOs.
Carrier unlocked lets you use it in any carrier which has compatible bands, but you won't get updates. For that, you have to manually flash to other variant firmware KDZ
Just for the record, flashing to another firmware variant(at least on this phone) won't get you updates either. You'll need to manually download and flash each new update. I flashed my Amazon variant to the Google Fi kdz and never received another update, no matter how many came out. Had to start doing it manually, got annoyed, and flashed back to the Amazon kdz in anticipation of the Pie update coming out (eventually... Please LG, for the love of...)
As a side note, going from the Amazon software and using lgup to flash the gFi software as an upgrade worked fine, and I kept all of my data. Flashing back to the Amazon software as an upgrade soft-bricked my device and I had to do a full wipe and flash, and so lost all of my data. Reinstalling and reconfiguring all of your stuff is a pain in the ass when you don't have access to twrp for a proper backup.
