i updated via odin, all went smoothly no errors no issue occurred, used all the bl/pa/cp and csc files, now here comes the issue, ofc u guys know that using csc and not home_csc causes phone to f.reset and that's what happened, now, usually when i do f.reset i prefer to have a totally fresh start meaning that i create new email, new samsung email, basically i start like i've never owned an email before, every time i did so (before updating via odin), i started with no apps in 'my apps' in the app store until i setup the on-device apps (watsapp-facebook-youtube...,ets) these apps always require update before using, thats why i see them listed in 'my apps' section after installing their updates, and after about 24 i get a notification about updates available and there i can find the rest of apps on my device (chrome-android system webview-skype...ets) in 'my apps' section to update them, now after using odin it has been about 48 since the f.reset and i still don't get any notification and there's no apps in 'my apps' section expect for apps that needed update before start (watsapp,faceboook..) however i started most of on-device apps, now what should i do???

Hello,
Last month after reading allot about it I finally installed Android NAND on my HTC HD2. After several ROM's I ended up with TyphooN CyanogenMod 7. Works (almost) like a charm. I can not get one thing working. Installation of some market apps.
For instance Google Maps or name another Angry Birds. When I search for them it says it is not yet installed so I go to install. It already shows the check-box "Allow automatic updating" (but the box can not be checked). Then I go to install and OK and it shows "Your item will be downloaded" and a download icon in the notification bar. But half a second later the icon is gone and the app is not installed. What to do?
I've tried searching several forums, but to no avail. Somewhere I've found the market app cache should be deleted, but this does not work. I've tried wiping and reinstalling the ROM, but it does not work. The only way I get it to work is to Google for the app and install outside the market. But than I don't get updates. I had the same problem with Facebook, but last week after the last time I wiped the phone, it installed correctly. Could it be the apps are not yet Android 2.3 compatible?

Click to collapse
I am pretty sure both of them are 2.3 compatible, because I have them installed and they're working
But anyway, I had the same problem long time ago, it might be a Google Account problem. If you go to privacy policy (or however it is spelled in English, it's the icon with the fence) there is a checkbox where you should uncheck, because Google offers you to save your data on their servers. That never worked for me.
You could also try to uncheck every box of your Google account in the account settings..
Nice try
But does not work. Unchecked sync with server:
Tried to install maps/angry birds -> Fail
Cleared cache, Tried to install maps/angry birds -> Fail
Cleared cache, Reboot, Tried to install maps/angry birds -> Fail
So this looks like it's not the problem
Anybody?
Starting to be a hassle. Also some other games like "Pew pew" do not install from Android Market.
Hi everyone,
I'm positing because I have a peculiar issue. I cannot download from the Android Market....and I have tried the solutions on the internet from clearing data/cache to trying to sync my google account in different ways...
Here is the background:
- Bought used Vibrant on craigslist
- rooted, unlocked, then unrooted, then hard reset
- no external SD card
After every hard reset, in two instances now, I have been able to download from Android market SUCCESFULLY for about a ~30 min window. After this time window, any download from Market does NOT work, and after clicking 'Install' immediately goes to the red triangle status 'Download unsuccessful.'
At all times, my internet still works fine, both on 2G/3G/wifi.
Android market website does NOT show my device (is this because the device only works with the very first sync when the phone was purchased??)
Something is locking me out from downloading. It's come to such a stupid workaround that since I know Market WILL work after a hard reset, I do a mass download of my app essentials in the ~30 minutes that I have.
Thanks for any help in advance!
Clear market cache
also, setting proper permissions on /data/ and /data/app might help (with a program like root explorer)
Do you use titanium backup? Restoring any setting? I got similar problem when I freeze "media container" in titanium backup.
Had this problem when z4mod was setting incorrect permissions on /system partition
All,
To avoid the issues with any roms/rooting, I unrooted the phone, as stated in the first post.
I basically got the phone back to 'stock' settings, and I have this issue. Any additional help would be great...this is my first experience with Android and it has only been headaches....
getting nostalgic with my old E71. haha
So, did you use odin to go to jfd?
I'm really interested and willing to help, just santo make sure I understand everything that you've done.
How did you root?
Why no external?
About a month ago, I was having a problem with my Nexus 7 wanting to download/install a system update. I found a method online where I simply renamed /System/Etc/Security/otacerts.zip to otacerts.zip.bak. This worked and all was good for a few weeks.
Now, despite still having the renamed file, I am getting notifications for a system update again. I googled the problem and it appears that Google Play Services is now including the update service which is re-enabled each time the app updates.
Is there a new and improved solution to keep the update from downloading/notifying/installing? I have re-purposed the tablet for a child and rooted the stock 4.4.2 software in order to avoid ads which are not always kid-friendly and also to allow disabling Google apps that I don't want my child to have access to. I could take the update, but that would require undoing all the mods, updating, re-rooting and re-applying changes. I would rather not invest the time for a child's device that is working smoothly otherwise.
Trying something I found on another site. We'll see how it goes:
Install "System application manager" from the Play store (http://bit.ly/1mf6etg)
Install "Disable Service" from Play Store (http://bit.ly/1mf6XKL)
Download "Google Play Services 4.3.25" which will be side-loaded in a future step (http://bit.ly/1mf2WpT)
Go to Settings>Apps>All and find Google Play Services. Wipe cache and data. Uninstall any updates (I had to disable Android Device Manager first)
Install the version of Google Play Services that you downloaded in step 3
Run "System application manger". Tap "Filter" near the top until is shows ">Updated<". You should see Google Play Services in the list. Tap on it, select Manage, then select Convert and move to System Apps
Reboot phone when conversion is done
Open "Disable Service" and go to System Apps section
Find Google Services Framework and tap it. Uncheck "SystemUpdateService" (may already be unchecked)
Find Google Play Services and tap it. Uncheck "SystemUpdateService"
Reboot device again and hopefully be done with OTA nagging
Model: ZE552KL
Firmware: 20160803
I have asked this on ASUS forum and of course none of the ASUS employees lurking those forums would not answer.
I have set the "Auto-download system update" to "Do not auto-download system update".
My phone now automatically starts downloading the system update everytime I'm connected to Wi-Fi. I go to FOTAService and force stop it, I delete the storage "clear data" or clear cache.
All this only helps until it connects again to Wi-Fi, then the update starts again.
Can someone come with a solution please? I want to keep the current firmware.
Unlock your bootloader? Lol
How about disable the update app via something like titanium backup, but I think that feature is only in the paid version. I guess you could always delete the update APK? Make a backup first of course
Where is the folder where the update is kept? I connected to computer and made sure all hidden files were unchecked in windows but couldn't find any such folder.
Try the app "disable service " on the play store. Select "system" and then "Google services framework" and then un-tick "SystemUpdateService" and reboot.
I have the latest stock Android M firmware and couldn't disable FOTA Service (can't press the Disable button under Apps). Are there ways to disable FOTA Service without root access?
The notification pops-up every time I connect to WiFi. I guess I just have to find the proper App/Service to disable Wifi/Cellular data access instead.
Question is, which App/Service can have WiFi/Cellular data access to shut off safely?
While I still can't find ways to disable the notification, which seems to pop-up on every IP address change or reconnect to wifi after inactivity, by wasting 1.5GB downloading the firmware, I can snooze the alert for up to 1 day.
Most of the Verizon updates have been buggy and this one seems to follow that model. And my phone is currently working passably well -- except for the new popups that want me to update.
I turned off automatic updates under developer options, but that has had no effect. The update was downloaded without my consent. I want to stop the nagging and delete or rename the update file.
I have two different file manager programs but neither of them seem to be able to see the system folder, even though I have enabled the "show hidden files" option. I thought I could perhaps suss out the name of the update package by sorting by date but I can't even find the folder for it. I've tried X-Plore File Manager and Solid Explorer Classic but neither seems to show me the system folder. I am not very familiar with Android but have worked with Linux and Windows systems in the past.
I find it infuriating that Verizon can force software onto a phone that I own. I have a pre-pay plan so it was purchased with a one-time payment and not bought from Verizon. I'm tired of their buggy updates.
Here is what I did,,,which you should be able to do as long as you can root.
1. Root your phone using the easy root/unroot option in the dev section
2. Go to the play store and buy Package Disabler Pro,,,well worth the 1.50
3. Once you give Package Disabler Pro root permission find the two software update apps in the list and disable them.
4. Go back to the easy root/unroot thread and follow the easy directions to unroot. This will also wipe your devices cache,,,which is where your downloaded update is probably residing now hence the update notifications. It wont wipe your device just the cache as part of the unroot process.
5. Once your unrooted, and back to stock, you can check like I did and see that the two software update apps are still disabled and no more update notifications.
The only thing different would be the app names for Verizon updates as I am running U firmware on my Verizon S7 Edge so there is not a lot of bloatware that I had to disable from the start. Here is a screenshot on my apps unrooted. They are still disabled thank God lol.
