No mobile data toggle tmo - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions & Answer

In s7 edge t mobile version there is no data toggle in notification panel.
We have to go all the way back to settings to turn it on.
Since the root is achieved is there any way to bring back the toggle???
Thanks

Should be able to decompile the system ui and activate it.

Install Good Lock from the galaxy store. No root required.

Tmo bastards removed it.. I've asked @jds3118 to put this feature in his Echoe rom(btw check it out it's great). I'm an optimist that we will have this feature soon enough!

Just curious
What is the reason you would like a data toggle? Do you roam around in the mountains? I just turn the phone off when I'm in the remote places of the world. But mostly, I just use wifi at home which shuts down data, and when I leave house turn off wifi, which enables data and allows me to use my android radio and maps and stream. So what is the reason for a switch, I have a widget set that includes that switch, I'll check for you to find which one it is but I think it is called Beautiful widgets, or it may be in Fancy widgets. I use to use that switch all the time back many years ago but find no reason to use it anymore.

Is there any way for non rooted phone.????
I do use good lock but i dnt like stock android look i prefer touchwiz ui..
I always switch btwn data and wifi whole day...so i need that toggle in notification panel

Check out what I did here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vjwbs8qwd2o this is the closest I have got with out root. it works pretty well.

ok guys i have a trick not original but it does give faster access to data toggler not on the notification bar but on home screen i came up with this after reading this tread=
http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-s7-edge/help/built-caller-id-hidden-t3357996[/url] for the incoming caller ID hack. well with that app i did a data search look for phone com.android phone then you click on it to branch it then tap on mobile data then create short cut and bingo no more clicks after clicks then i found a image of a setting with the data toggler image took a picture of it edit it to smaller size and swap it with the phone image like i said not perfect but it will do for me. hope this help others her is image of it maybe somebody can make a nicer data icon image been this thread was all ready started i didn't want to start a new one

Or use good lock and enable quick settings tab.

GOOD LOCK is not just a lock screen like I thought.
IT GIVE YOU MOBILE DATA QUICK TOGGLE
the default them looks CRAPPY AS all can be, see my screen shots after I changed it.
I'm a happy camper

Mobile data toggle is absent in nougat too for tmo...i wrote suggestion to add the toggle.. and also good lock is not present in nougat...

Isn't there any other method like to edit some Xml files in order to see the toggle? This is a carrier 'feature' and I think is not that hard to enable it, if you know where to look...
Anybody?

I have Nougat on my Moto Z. The notification shade has 2 positions, 1) partly down, and 2) all the way down. I placed the Cellular Data icon in the first row. When I pull the notification shade down once (i.e. part way down) and double click on the Cellular Data icon, it toggles Cellular Data on and off.

You will need root otherwise cant do this. You need to edit the others.xml file in System/CSC on your device. When you open the others.xml you will see the csc code. Edit the line that says ConfigDefQuickSettingItem and add MobileData on the end. After editing make sure to set permissions if they changed to 644. I used root explorer to do all this. After editing the CSC go into settings, general then reset settings on your device. When it reboots go to edit the quick setting icons and the Mobile Data Icon will be there.
<CscFeature_SystemUI_ConfigDefQuickSettingItem>W if i,Location,SilentMode,RotationLock,Bluetooth,WifiC alling,PowerSaving,AirplaneMode,Performance,Flashl ight,Nfc,Sync,BlueLightFilter,Aod,AllShareCast,Per sonalMode,DeviceVisibility,DormantMode,UltraPowerS aving,MobileData</CscFeature_SystemUI_ConfigDefQuickSettingItem>

Thanks Naruto. But do you know, is it possible to root Android Nougat?

What is the reason for needing a mobile data toggle? At idle, phones do not consume alot of data. An unlimited plan can be had on this device for $65 with Cricket. Even without unlimited, I do not understand the need for the toggle? In what instance would you like the mobile data turned off?

It will never happen unless they do like they did for the S5. Flash back to MM, install flashfire, then flash a N rom. I doubt there will ever be a N root. Plus its new, even if there was, it would be months from now until it would happen.

I want to turn off data when I do not need it. I do the same with the WiFi. It is not related to my data plan but to the battery life I have which is very poor.
Disabled most of the bloatware and still get 2-3 h of SOT maximum.

Ouch, sorry to hear that. Do you use snapchat and facebook? I hear those destroy your battery. Can you post a screenshot of your battery usage by app? Im sure the people here will know exactly what it is. I can leave my data on and only lose 4 percent overnight in 7.5 hours just idle with data on.

[Q] What else does the toolbar widget do?

sorry for the noob question i did try a search & read the wiki trouble is my question is "what is this" so rather hard to search, when the question is what is it!!!
on the start home screen there's a 5 item widget/toolbar that has
- wifi
- blueTh
- ?
- ?
- screen brightness
What are the 2 items that i only have question marks for, i've pressed them but what do they do (other than nothing obvious)?
Thanks in advance....
I'm pretty sure one is to enable data on mobile networks, the 2nd is to enable apps (eg gmail, maps etc) to sync using data on mobile networks or wifi.
Sent from my Dell Streak using XDA App
cheers,
not sure though....
the 3rd & 4th buttons really dont seem to do anything even when plugged into the pc, what happens when you press them on yours?
thanks again
wifi, bluetooth, gps, sync, brightness
is there any way to edit those functions? or add/take away our own?
i'd love to swap a data connection on/off for that sync button.

Noooooo not on a Stock rom mate
yeah, I looked around a little today. Looks like the OS doesn't allow access to turning data on/off from anywhere but the settings menu. I found an app that just created a shortcut to the data menu. Works for me.
+1
I found 2g/3g in the market that links directly to the data menu & placed it on my homescreen
elegant? no - does the job? yes

How to achieve these customizations?

Verizon S5 with towelroot, Safestrap, nandroid backup, Titanium Backup, Xposed, Wanam
I've made some progress debloating and customizing, but there are some more things I'd like to do:
1. Remove Quick Settings from notification panel - In landscape view, there is simply not enough screen real estate for the actual notifications because the Quick Settings (and 'clear notifications' row) take up half the screen. I would like to remove them or have them scroll up and off screen when scrolling through notifications. Can this even be done with a custom ROM?
2. Tether without pin lock screen. [updated] FoxFi worked fine for me unrooted, except that I had to use the PIN lockscreen. The instruction on PdaNet's site (change certificate to Wi-fi, etc.) did not work. I eventually found X Tether. Once installed, it shows up as Moto Tether. It seems to allow the native WiFi hotspot to work on its own, but I haven't used it much yet. The easiest way I have found to turn it on/off, is using a widget. I haven't been able to put the widget in an app folder, which I would prefer.
3. Minimal notification panel - figured this one out.
4. Bypass Samsung lockscreen before DynamicNotifications - Not sure if this is possible. Sometime, when I turn the phone on, it goes to the stock lock screen before switching to DynamicNotifications. I saw that DynamicNotifications shows up as a module in Xposed, but it just said something about disabling a message that I don't recall getting.
5. A better dialer and contacts - any recommendations on getting solid, vanilla-like Dialer and Contacts? I tried a couple apps from the Play Store, but they were kind of sloppy in one way or another.
6. No auto play music when turning on radio in car - When I turn on my bluetooth receiver in the car, the last track always starts playing - even if I paused it before I turned off the car last. I kind of wish it would only continue playing if it was playing when the receiver was disconnected. Not a big deal, but thought I'd ask.
7. Update phone when checking exchange emails on computer - When I read, archive, delete, etc. emails in Outlook, they continue to pile up in Email app until I open the email app. Seems like my Galaxy Nexus didn't do that.
8. Remove TouchWiz blue from everything - all the menus and apps still have that Samsung blue theme. I'm not sure how to remove that.
9. Reduce icons on notification bar - I would like to remove the Bluetooth icon. There is a blank icon when I use Rotation Locker in the background to keep everything landscape while I'm in the car. It looks bad having the space between icons and I'd like to get rid of it. There is a battery icon that appears when the battery is charged. I'd like to remove that as well.
10. Make folders only one icon on display - figured this one out.
11. Remove battery icon that appears when S5 is fully charged - There is a white battery with "100" on it that appears when the battery is charged. That makes 3 battery icons total when it's charged. Ridiculous!
12. Disable camera shutter sound and boot sound - Wanam has a setting for this. I have it checked, but the camera and boot still make their sounds.
Edit: added another.
Edit2: and another
Edit3: another

Is this the best thread for these questions? I figured at least a few would have gotten answers.
Not sure about the boot sound but I use Automateit to silence the shutter sound. I have it set to silence the phone when opening the camera and then it returns the phone to full volume when I close it. If the phone is on silent it doesn't make the shutter sound.

I guess I don't see XDA as a place to come and post a wish list of features I would like to have. I approach it as a place where devs share their work. I limit my questions to things like 'does anyone know if their is a ROM that does xy or z'
Since I'm an end-user by which I mean I don't code, I stay super respectful of those who do and live by the motto 'read more and post less'. While I think it has grown from its roots, it is first and foremost a forum for devs and technically knowledgeable people, and/or people with a genuine desire to become that. I'm just a guest. I'd never go to someone's party with a list of the foods I want prepared.
Anyway that's how I see it, and how I approach the site.
Though I do see now that apparently you are working on doing some themeing so take the above for whatever it is worth.

That's essentially what I did. I spent time searching, reading, and learning as far as I could without help. I was able to accomplish some on my own, but I ended up with a list of things I still wanted to do. So, I put them all in one post.
If you wouldn't use the "Q&A/Help" section to post questions like I do, that's fine. I have used many forums for many years, and I know that different people use them for a variety of reasons. I'm not going to spend any more time justifying my post. I hope that you can find a better use of your time beyond complaining about other people's posts.
Dude you asked if you you had asked for too much. I replied about how 'I' view being on XDA. No on asked you to justify anything. But consider it dropped.

I was able to change the lock screen options back to all being available for selection with FoxFi in use by doing the Lock the phone from Device Manager on Google. As soon as I did the remote lock, all of my lock screen options returned even with FoxFi installed and operational. I read about doing this on another post here somewhere...

When I pull down notification and tap on my cellular network icon (there are two side by side - it's a 2 SIM card model) it opens a "Data usage" screen and then I have to tap on an icon that shows me another screen named "Sim cards" where I have a control named (Cellular Data) that allows me to turn it off.
Too much steps. That's why I asked.
Thanks for trying to answer.

For single SIM variant which the original poster did not specifically say it would
look like the screenshot. Which is only one click from pull down menu.
I agree it's a pain in the ass. I use a shortcut in Nova. It eliminates 1 click.

I took a look around in the Play Store and only found apps for the mediatek SoC dual SIM which of course isn't going to work here. I don't think any of the normal apps (widgets) that work on single SIM are up to the challenge. Last thought on this - maybe as time goes forward that some of the users working on custom Roms like CM & AOSP might be able to include some tricks for this kind of thing.
Anyone find a solution to this? The dual SIM version is a pain to disable data. Not to mention I want to have this done automatically with Tasker and I cannot right now... Thanks!
I am not 100% sure if this works with dual sim, however running Shell command in Tasker svc data disable/enable works great. Be sure to check root.
Don't have the Moto but 3G Watchdog includes a widget for toggling the data on/off by one touch on an icon. It works with Zuk Z1 which is a dual sim phone. Maybe you can try this.
gravitybox has this.also has toggle for smart network!

MIUI notes/tips

I don't know about anyone else, but this is my first MIUI phone.
I thought it would be useful to start a thread regarding MIUI notes/tips/etc that are specific to MIUI.
The first big one of course - how to fix push notifications:
http://www.forbes.com/sites/bensin/...ions-on-xiaomis-miui-8-for-real/#11f834174e1b
I was about to start this very thread
I found a cool feature
You can select several photos for deleting by simply gliding your fingers over the photos
Another cool feature
You can orient that device do that it's upside
The top bezel-less becomes downwards.
The phone is also programmed to rotate it to the standard orientation during a phone call because of Mic location.
One thing I quite like is how specific WIFI connects can be disabled without having to remove them.
Our work WIFI blocks certain things, so it's nice to be able to disable it but not have
to totally remove it (and then reenter all the passwords when I re-enter it).

If you touch that you go into another menu, and one option is 'auto connect on/off'.
Turning off autoconnect helps in situations where there are multiple WIFI signals, but you only want it autoconnecting to a specific one.

That's actually a primitive way of doing it.
Samsung did it better by letting you 'peek' one-handedly with a simple swipe down of the notification.
With mi mix, I have to use two hands. I can do it with one hand but it's tough.

Perhaps there's a solution if you root/install Xposed & a module is available for lockscreen options.
I'm rooted, but, haven't used Xposed in ages, considering trying it again......
On Samsung devices,(non-root) Ad Blocking apps have a persistent notification on the lockscreen that cannot be swiped away,.The only remedy for this was to turn off the ad blocking.

Those are uninstallable I guess (as Mi earns from these apps and not selling the phone), few rubbish were uninstalled using this method.
I should be able to disable them though
Apparently not
Some more MIUI notes:

hardware test: dial *#*#6484#*#*
More phone info: dial *#*#4636#*#*
There is a toggle to disable the navigation buttons (double tap them to re-enable)
handy if you keep accidentally hitting them.
in 'buttons' can auto disable for any particular app (games)
In accessibility there is a magnification mode - triple tap to allow/disable zooming of screen. (EDIT: it's bugged - it isn't supposed to trigger during keyboard typing, but it does, effectively making it useless)
wake with volume buttons is in lockscreen menu, not "button"

Mobile data turned off notification removal

If you toggle data on and then off, a notification appears saying
"You will no longer be able to use applications such as Internet, Email, or other apps that require a network connection, unless you connect to wifi etc."
The message however remains there even with Wifi on.
There is no option to clear the notification and then an Icon appears in the top left hand corner reminding you of the fact.
That top left corner of the screen is usually used for many other temporary notifications which can now no longer be displayed.
If the phone is started with data off then everything works as it did with Android 6 until data is toggled again.
Anyone know how to get rid of this notification?
I actually have found this to be a nice change, as toggling on data after turning it off, is much easier now. That being said, a normal toggle like wifi or bluetooth has, would be much preferred. Dont know how to get rid of the notification, other than restarting the phone with data off (like you said).
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using XDA-Developers Legacy app
I miss this data on/off toggle feature from the quick menu that I had on my LG G3 and other earlier Android phones.
I now use the usage manager widget on my home page or edge menu to toggle data on and off.
I have reached out to my contacts at AT&T to try and find out why they did this and if they intend to make this notification selectable like almost every other one is.
Hasn't ATT been doing this for a long time? I had to add the data toggle via root and script edit on my old ATT note 3 I remember.
Sent from my SM-G935T using XDA-Developers Legacy app
It's not the absence of the quick toggle I am talking about here it's the fact that a notification comes on when you turn data off but there's no way to remove the notification once it appears or a setting to stop it from appearing at all.
I have the same issue. It only started after I downloaded and installed the Android 7.0 update late last week.
Did anybody find a solution to this yet? This can be quite frustrating as I just switched from an international s7 edge and that even had a mobile data notification toggle. Thanks in advance!
After you toggle data off, reboot the phone. It goes away for me after a reboot.

It's a bit cumbersome but better than rebooting / restarting.
Slide the 'data off' notification right to expose the gear icon
Click gear
Click green 'phone'
Now 'force stop' the phone app
I know it sounds scary but this works (until the next time you enable & disable data).
Yeah I've got the same complaint with my S7, can't slide off or clear the notification after turning data off unless you restart. Let us slide the option off. I want a button I can just click to turn on/off data. "OH WAIT, THAT WOULD BE AWESOME AND CONVENIENT, WE CAN'T DO THAT!" -Samsung
I hate this notification
Is doing this too harmful for the phone app? I just got a Galaxy S7 that had AT&T as a carrier, but I'm not on the AT&T network. I just tried a hack from XDA that allowed me to get the mobile data toggle but the notification started popping up when i disabled data. It's very annoying but I haven't found any other ways of disabling it. I just want to know if force stopping the phone would be bad for me in the long run. I'm wondering why i upgraded if it was going to be so much trouble.

1. Go to settings.
2. Search for "Call Settings".
3. Tap "Call settings" under "Apps>Apps info".
4. Under "App settings" tap "Notifications ".
5. Under "Other" tap on "Mobile networks ".
6. Slide "Minimize notifications" to on.
7. Say "Thank you".
Nothing work for me, using S21 5G, Android 13, OneUI 5
