Which smartwatch for (developing) interval training app? - Other SmartWatches

Hi,
My running coach wants me to do interval training on Thursdays. Every week the targets are different. Example: 400 m. (1 lap) at 12 km/h + 100 m. recovery + 400 m. at 14 km/h + 100 m. recovery + 800 m. at 13 km/h.
This is a basic example; actual schedules are up to 10 times longer and more complex. Training usually (but not always) takes place on the athletics oval of 400 m.
Instead of memorizing the schedule, I calculate the 100 m. times for each interval and write them on my hand. Using a plain stopwatch while running I try to pass the 100 m. markers exactly after the specified number of seconds.
I thought it would be fun to buy a cheap smartwatch and write a standalone app to help me do the interval exercises. It could beep or vibrate when I should have reached the 100 m. mark, and I could tap it or press a button when I actually do. Of course I need to be able to enter today's schedule. My Android phone will be in my locker during the training, so the app has to execute standalone.
Now for my question: what cheap smartwatches are suited for such a project? I was thinking maybe the Pebble classic or Sony SmartWatch 2. But I have no experience with smartwatches at all nor smartwatch programming. (I am a programmer and have developed some Android apps though.)
Thanks!

I need this app hacked "GPSPerformance" anyone?

Hi I really want this app in my ETEN M700 WM6.1
GPSPerformance
can any body hackit? or any one knows a freeware version?
this it what it does:
GPS Performance is a must have application for people with performance cars interested in performance statistics. Using a regular GPS receiver and sophisticated alorythms, GPS Performance is able to accurately measure 1/4 mile dashes and 0..60 timings.
Circuits can be defined for timing laps and up to 5 split times per track can be added. Of course the runs are fully configurable, allowing custom distances and speed ranges to be specified, and tracks are created simply by driving around the circuit.
Each type of run has its own memory, storing the last ten runs (100 runs for lap times). The best time and average time are displayed. Different runs can be plotted and overlayed against each other using an informative graph. G forces for recorded runs can also be plotted and compared.
Use GPS Performance to discover exacly what your car is capable of and boast to your friends. Use it to perform `before and after` runs to test performance modifications such as sports air filters and sports exhausts. It can also be used to detect small changes in performance to give early indications of possible engine problems.
Features:
* Lap Times including split times with 100 lap memory
* Accelerations Times such as 0..60 or 30..70
* Distance Times such as 1/4 mile
* Avergage Run Times
* Best Run Times
* Graph plots for all runs
* MPH or KPH
* Graphically overlay up to 10 runs together for comparison
* G-Force calculation
* Portrait and Landscape supported
* Time and Date stored with each run

[31st Mar 09 - Updated 1.0.1.0] MySkiBuddy (gps skiing app with instant feedback)

Hi,
I've just finished an app for windows mobile specifically for skiers that allows you to view your average and top speed, as well as the distance covered for your last run. It also keeps track of your total distance traveled as well as your highest speed ever achieved.
All information is displayed on one easy to read screen. It has a "reset run" feature which allows you to clear your last run statistics ready to collect data for your next run, or to challenge your friend to beat your record.
Version 1.0.1.0
Features Added:
* Option to use Metric system(km, km/h, meters)
* Notification will now pop-up when an Update is available
Bugs Fixed:
* Fixed bug where app wouldn't shutdown correctly on first registration
* Fixed bug where some devices were unable to display altitude
* Minor tweeks
There is a feature limited trial verion which is restricted to viewing your average speed for a run, your current altitude and your direction of travel.
Attached is a screen shot. It runs in a trial mode until registered. To register I'm asking for a donation of £1.50 to help support ongoing development.
For more information or to download my app please go to my site: http://www.fehnerssoftware.co.uk
Awesome. I will definitely give this a try next time i'm on the mountain.

If you do let me know what sort of speed you get up to 47mph is my pb so far.
Check your PM's
Is this app fast enough to keep up with a vehicle speed? It would be great for checking speed and heading in a car or motorcycle. You could change some wording and rename to something like MyAutoBuddy and release it as another app!
I'd love to have that for my phone

Yup It can keep track of vehicle speed easily, thats mostly how I tested the app out I've only actually been skiing with it once
For a vehicle what would you want to see? currently it shows average speed, top speed for run, top speed ever reached, distance that run, total distance over all runs, direction of travel, and altitude.
Allthough designed for skiing it can be used for running, cycling etc.
Compile Maps?
I went boarding last month and searched around for piste maps for my sat nav, but no joy.....
Think you could develop this to record the route taken and then view on google maps for example......?
If you got enough users to be able to upload data it wouldn't be long before you compiled piste routes and speed records etc......?
Just a thought......

I can add the ability to log the gps data so that it can be viewed in google earth, google maps etc.

[Q] Changing time format to 24 hour

Does someone know how to change time format to 24 hour? In KF this option is missing in time settings.
I'm wondering the same thing. Would love to have my KF's time match the 24-hour clock on all my other devices.
+ 1
//Tapatalk.KindleFire//
That would be good for us Railroaders, we use 24 hour.
Amazon take note and give us the time in 24
I've used ClockSync for 12-hr updating through an atomic time clock. It says it has 24-hr support, so if someone could test out if it can alter the time from 12 to 24.
https://market.android.com/details?id=ru.org.amip.ClockSync&hl=en
App for that
There is a $1.00 app at Amazon (search for B007IVVC42 there)
It is called "24 Hours" and does exactly that, plus it can setup custom numeric format for the date.

[WTF] My understanding of test application...

To pass the time I created this application, he may not have any good but it works!
The process is simple, I created a view that contains a number of layouts specifically*made.
The result is to obtain a scrollable vertical layout long at will and the purpose is to create the longest supportable by the device.
I have a preset standard lengths and the longest is the distance earth-moon (384400000m - 238 855.086 mi) but you can also set no limit until the crash and the maximum length was 7,708,463 km (4,789,816.84 mi )
I have not implemented the function to recreate the layout until just before the crash (to get a scrollable layout) but it's a simple thing to do, I can do it in a couple of minutes and upload the new application if someone is interested
I tested the function without limit only with the emulator because it took several hours but I would not stress too much the phone.
What do you think? I did an interesting thing, or is a WTF in itself?
If you want to give it a look this is the link

Almost chrashed my phone
HAAAAAAX!!!

[Q] 2 questions: Voice command to resume current playlist? Best countdown timer?

Guys, I'm looking for a voice command to resume my current playlist in Google Play Music from my 360. All voice commands I already tried (like "OK Google, play music", "OK Google, start playlist xy"), either start a new playlist or don't work at all.
Do you have any suggestions?
Bonus question on a totally different matter: I'm also looking for a countdown timer that
a) doesn't disable itself in ambient mode / standby mode and
b) makes it easy to select a preset timer or remember the last countdown timer I set.
The stock Wear timer was quite ok pre-5.1.1, because it remembered the last countdown I used, but since 5.1.1 I have to set the timer every time I use it.
Other timers from the Play store I tried either don't work with screen turned off / ambient or don't have the same problem as the stock timer.
I'm using this timer functionality for work in a lab, where I always need the same countdowns and haven't found anything yet to achieve this simple task
I do not use voice commands so cannot answer the first question, but as for the second, while not perfect or pretty, MoveUp! Multitimer works well. I have not purchased the full version as I am still debating keeping my watch (the sony smart watch 3 which is amazing except it overheats with the new update which is incredibly uncomfortable), you get one preset timer for free, but with the paid version, you can have multiple timers.
