Hello guys, does anyone knows what does the screen icon with a diagonal WiFi symbol at the top right of my screen means and how do I get rid of it? Thanks!
Hello.
This icon means that you are connected to an other device on which you can stream, i.e your Smart TV or a Chromecast for example.

Hmm this is really weird as I do not recall turning the feature on or making any new gadgets purchases recently, it just sort of appeared out of nowhere one day. Is there a way to turn it off?
Edit : I ended up going into Titanium Backup and uninstalling Samsung MirrorLink and another mirroring service. After a restart, the icon is gone, thanks for your help!

Hey guys,
I recently just got my g1 dev, everything's great, except I noticed that whenever the screen is locked, the wireless connection gets disconnected after 1 or 2 minutes and reconnected when I unlock or press any buttons on the phone.
How can I resolve this issue? Anyone else having the same problem also?

Why would you want to? This saves the battery
It would be useful for IM clients or e-mail notification applications.

I've noticed the same thing because I was chatting on IM with a friend over a WI-FI connection but didn't have reception (3G, EDGE or other) so I kept getting logged off when my screen timed out.
Unfortunately, I believe that all you can do is go to Settings>Sound&Display>Screen Timeout (at the bottom under Display settings) and set to "Never Timeout". Or you can download an app like Toggle Settings from the Market to make it easier.
This will kill your battery a lot faster though but at least you won't have to keep logging back in. Maybe keep your phone on the charger and dim your display?
Hey, thanks for the reply!
Yup... I think that's all can be done right now to maintain a connection.
Hopefully there will be an option in the future
I installed Extended controls and im sure it was around this sort of time it happened, but i looked up and see that the G symbol ive had for the passes 3-4 days had disappeared, i thought this wasa good thing and result of a button to switch data off, but can only find GPS button and switching that doesnt effect anything on the screen
obviously without this i cant get online on my phone so any quick help would be appreciated!
Extended controls does have an option to make a switch for that, try making a switch widget for data connection and then flip it?

data connection, ok thanks. i restarted phone and got it enabled back. Where in the standard options and settings for android is this located then? pretty good feature to save power when i dont want my phone checking or updating itself?
EDIT:
this button on extended controls doesnt work for me, and enabling it loses my internet connectivity and i cant get it back on, fail.
After restart this time my G symbol came back, and then disappeared ?

This was what did it for the lady.. Thank you!
On Android 4.3 on the Galaxy S3, the "Smart Stay" icon is always shown when the feature is switched on, however that doesn't mean it's always actually on and working. The feature is dormant, and works only for a second when the screen is about to turn off, to check if you're still looking at it. This is indicated by the icon "blinking", or rather pulsating for a moment. On previous versions of Android, and on other phones, the same is indicated by the icon appearing and disappearing, however S3 with Android 4.3 notifies you of the Smart Stay activity in this different manner.
Hi, I'm new here.
I'm trying to make SideSync (version 4.3.0.92) work on my Samsung Galaxy J5 2016 and my laptop. My lappy is an ASUS X555LD running on Windows 10. I have SideSync installed on both gadgets, and I'm able to connect the two. I can see the dashboard which shows the "Phone screen" button, some app icons, the "More" button, the signal strength, etc.
I can add more apps on the dashboard, and even share my keyboard and mouse to my phone. However, I cannot make the phone screen appear on my laptop. When I click the button, it just tries to load non-stop -- the button's border goes in circles, like a loading icon. When I click on an app on the dashboard, this app opens on the phone, no prob. but nothing happens on the laptop. I've tried contacting Samsung but the representative is out of ideas too.
Has anyone else encountered this before?

Sadly, no. I gave up trying to get the two to sync. And no one's ever replied to this thread either.
Hey guys, I have an issue , of course, with the S8.
I am playing movies to my Samsung smart TV (casting them from my phone I mean) and from time to time this message appears on my TV screen: " Please check your network connection". And then it gets interrupted. And I have to cast it again. Never happened with my S7 on the same wifi network and same TV.
Detail: when I look at the phone screen, the wifi icon is gone and in a few seconds it says: "Connected to wifi network".
What do you guys think? Any idea?
Thanks!
I have a similar issue with streaming to my Audi MMI system music over WiFi, which is basically same as what you do to your TV. I believe that Battery optimization is killing the background process, and thats why you loose connection. Go to Settings, Apps, click on top right corner and chose : special services, than battery optimization. From the drop menu chose All apps, and make sure that anything, related to streaming, casting is switched off (exluded from optimization). Also make sure that you have under connections, WiFi, top right corner: advanced, make sure you have a tick on Keep WiFi on durring sleep.
Thanks man, I have the WiFi during sleep on...but from all those apps...I admit I am not sure which ones are to be switched off for optimization. Does your issue happen at certain exact times? Or just whenever it pleases?
Did it for Samsung Connect. Now I just hope it wont eat up my battery )
It was happening while playback, in the middle of the songs. I found about the battery optimization today, so hasn't manage to try if its resolved already.
