Hi! folks!
I known that recently European Note3 & Galaxy devices are locked by regional lock.
I would like to this european regional lock can unlock by at least 5minute in roaming status.
This is my scenario
1. buy Galaxy Note 3 from UNITED KINGDOM and going to Korea
2. In Korea, put the UK O2 sim card or Swisscom sim card on Note 3 unlokced device. (Device will must be going to Roaming status)
3. Make a oversea call to UK O2 SIM number or Swisscom SIM number and get the call on Note 3 by korea landline number.
4. keep calling status at least 5 minute (yes, oversea call fee will be apply )
5. DONE. country unlocked!!
Who can verify above my scenario is correct or not?
If my scenario is wroing, this regional unlock by calling 5minute unlock method is only accepted european networks (like T-mobile, O2, Orange..or ETC..) ?

Did it work ? Thanks for you answer!!
Hi - I bought a G900F off ebay which is apparently sim locked to the EE network. My sim card is Tesco Mobile (great deal).
From what I have read, rooting/flashing custom Rom will not unlock the network sim lock.
Is my only option to have EE unlock the phone? Any recomendations for websites which are trustworthy and include the EE network?
Does it matter if the person I bought the phone off did not use the phone before? Would this mean it has a region lock?
This is all very boring, my GS3 was so easy to get working.
Thanks,
RG
It doesn't matter what the status of your phone is or what network it is servicing. You will just need to input the unlock code numbers on the keypad. You have to pay a fee of course.
guys i got a galaxy s5 from UK and my phoneshows signal bars even without a sim inside the phone (pic attached ) and whenever i put a sim it says 'sim network unlock pin' does this means its carrier locked or region locked? does those signal bars means that its ready use in country and phone just carrier blocked or what .. thanks fellas this is a SM g900f UK version with fully paid and bought from samsung store ( not contract phone with any carrier) and have used with with a vodaphone sim for like 4 minutes.. (received a call but non taken from it )

The 3 bars are the signal strength as you can still make emergency calls, your message sim network unlock pin means the phone is sim / network locked you need a pin code to unlock it, take it back to the store you got is from if it is supposed to be unlocked to any network and get them to sort it, this should be free if you bought it as an unlocked phone.

Just seen you other post here that you put up 2 hours before this one, why start another thread asking the same thing. In this one you say your brother bought it in the UK and sent it to Asia for you, it is Vodafone UK network locked, if it was bought sim free it would not be network locked.
Was it really bought in the UK or obtained in an alternative way other than being bought.

Most likely it's a network lock. But you haven't provided enough information to be certain. You say that you got the phone in the UK but neglected to tell us what region you are using it in? Where your Vodaphone carrier is based or the context of the calls you have made. i.e used for 4 minutes where?.. and the meaning of "non taken from it" is uncertain.
If the phone is rooted, you can check whether it's region locked by looking at the customer.xml blacklist file. Or alternately pay for a network unlock and that will typically clear both network and region locks.

Im currently in Sri lanka (South Asia) and the phone is with me , but the phone was bought in UK , where my brother lives.. he said he wasn't aware of this region lock and he wasn't aware of the 5 mins call.. but just to check the phones functionality he has poped his UK vodaphone sim in to the phone and he has received a call to it for like 1- 2 mins . but he has not taken any calls to a UK number with it . what im currently getting is 'Sim Netowrk Unlock Pin' i think my phone is sim locked not reigion .. (or is it ?) . thank you very much for replying earlier
and also i followed your tutorial and checked the file (using es manager .. no rooting) and the result i got is attached as a pic below

one more thing . all my country carriers are under one MCC code (413 ) . so editing that line in to a different number will solve the problem? ex- changing 413 to something like 222 or 567 ?? thank you!
after comparing codes in customer.xml and online found list .. it can be seen that all EU countries are not on the list (means this is region locked i asssume). will changing my country code to one of the EU codes will solve the issue? will my phone face any issues if i edit it without rooting (i have the ability to edit it without rooting using es file manager) thank you!
Guys, I really need your help. I bought S7 Edge SM-G935F from Middle-East, Saudi Arabia. I didnot notice that in the box stated "MIDDLE EAST & NORTH AFRICAN SIM CARD ONLY". I bought this phone for my brother in Indonesia (South-east Asia country). Can we use this phone using Indonesian local operator SIM Card? I am afraid that it's useless already to buy this phone which is my brother won't be able to use in Indonesia.
As I read from this forum, my S7 Edge model is SM-G935F which is global version but still I have no idea whether this phone can be used in my country or not; just because of the warning sentence above. I do need your suggestion what I should do, guys. Thanks in advance for your help.
You need to use middle east SIM cards and make a call/receive call for a cumulative duration of at least 15 minutes to remove the region restriction.

So, it means that I need to use Middle East SIM card first in my country to make/recieve a call from/to another country? Then, it will be used normally & automatically functioned in my country? Thanks a bunch for your answer.
Or you can just have it (SIM) Unlocked - but you'll have to pay for the service if you can't do it yourself.
15min for the Middle East version? Hmmm the SEA version requires only 5min of call from a SEA sim card.
Not sure if free call also counts.

Any calls will do. Local or international. Make sure it is at least 15 minutes.
I use 7 edge Duos with Nigerian CSC code in Europe without problems
Thank you, guys, for all your answers.
Egyptian Sim card
Hi,
I have the Egyptian version of Galaxy S7 Edge G935F - live in New York with AT&T. It works fine except no Samsung Pay, VoLTE, WiFi-Calling. Would sim unlock or getting an Egyptian Sim card to remove region restriction be of any benefit?

No. If it's working now in NY, there is no more region restriction.
I assume you bought it from Egypt. In that case, to get VoLTE, wifi calling etc, you need to call ATT to ask if they support them on international s7 edge. It's unlikely that you can get it working since it's something to do with your baseband and csc.
Hi,
My friend bought S8 from EU and bring back to me in vietnam, unfortunately, this phone has Regional lock and said that I have to use EU sim card call for 5 minutes to unlock it.
But I stay in vn and cannot do those thing.
Is there other way to remove my phone regional lock?
Thanks.
Any chance?
If he bought it from a carrier you might be able to do it from their web site .
Lol lucky my other friend fly back and i ask him to bring roaming eu sim. Make a call for 5 mins and its unlock now. Cost me 20 eur, so pricey.
