Android Pay no Longer Working with Systemless Root http://www.xda-developers.com/android-pay-no-longer-working-with-systemless-root/

It's impossible.

Funniest thing is. It works for me. I'm using the Dual Sim Variant though.

Thank you for the replies , I have always had root, but since android pay has come out I have not rooted. I guess I'm gonna have to weigh up what I really need. Thank you again

OMG, do you mind just giving me a tiny bit of info on how you done it.

Honestly I didn't do anything special... Rooted using cf auto root. Installed recovery. Installed my rom of choice and kernel... And it works ... No tricks involved...
Does it not work for everyone??

Cheers for the reply, no android pay shouldn't work with root at all. I was down your way a few weeks ago and was actually in vapourlicous lol

I did exactly the same, and Android Pay works with Root here too. I've even added new cards without any issue.

Small world.. lol
U don't have you screen set to compact mode by any chance? As I believe u can't add cards in that mode.

Do you mean "condensed" display scaling? I'm in that mode, and adding a card was fine.

Been using Android Pay with custom rom and root since I got my S7E and never had a problem

I normally root my phone as soon as I get it, but I have not rooted this one yet because everyone was saying it didn't work with root. Well I know how I'm gonna spend my day off now, cheers again guys

Works for me, but there's a twist:
No more chainfire SuperSu, you must use a different root method: phh's Superuser (more info here) and, if you use Xposed, a systemless Xposed installation.
To use Android Pay, your root access is temporarly disabled (5 minutes by default), and re-enable itself automatically.

Rooted here, with condensed display, android pay is working fine

I've recently got the G930FD, updated to the latest Nougat, unlocked the btl, flashed twrp, rooted (SuperSU), and, to my surprise, Android pay... works!!!
My only explanation to this, is maybe, just maybe, an S7 got a hardware trust zone with Google making an exception in this case. I'd be glad if this is, indeed, the case.
Notes:
* Android pay didn't work on my previous rooted phone (LG G4, H815).
* I did absolutely nothing special whatsoever.
* System partition is close to, but noy 100% stock.
* Bootloader unlocked.
* Custom recovery present.
* Evrything above trips SafetyNet (tested).

Works for me too on my S7 Edge. Using 6.0.1 with systemless root/Magisk, although I'm pretty sure I added my first card to AP before I rooted. However since then, I have added/deleted other cards from AP without a problem.

Root your device with Towel Root App

Hey guys I found a new app called towel root that might just root the tab 3. I haven't tested it but I have a feeling that it will work. We need testers to see if it is a go for us.
We should try it on all tab models on these android versions:
1. 4.1.2 Jellybean
2. 4.2.2 Jellybean
3. 4.4.2 kitkat
Now this is actually a really nice root app and our friend tomsgt was able to do a video on it. But he did his review on the samsung S5 phone.
Link to tomsgt video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i3JOeQSvxD4
So we need people to test the app and if it is a go we will keep this thread open, and if not we will close this thread.
Instructions to install:
This is just an apk so we just install it as a regular app. Once installed you can open the app and try to root your tablet.
Download from website:
http://towelroot.com/
Just click the picture on the website page to download the apk!
Hope you guys enjoy what I found

Didn't work on a few other devices either, all with pretty old kernels.
Try supersu
Verified after you run towel root install supersu from market update bianaries
Then recovery tools to flash recovery of choice
On a side note 4.4.2

Doesn't work, tried V1 and V2 of towelroot on my Tab3 8.0 (310). Towel Root worked on my S5, was hoping it would work on this, on a Mac on 10.5 and can't root the Tab3 on that.
worked perfectly on my grand 2. thanks.
Does it work on Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 SM-T310 Wifi Version?
With 4.2.2 or 4.4.2?

I posted above it doesn't work, tried version 1 and 2 on my T310. Sucks, I have a Mac and can't get it to root, and Win7 won't root in a virtual system and can't boot camp as don't know where my Win7 cd is.
Worked on my tab 3 7.0 Sprint. Running 4.4.2 downloaded supersu from play store and updated binary. It said update failed, reboot and try again but on reboot was working fine. It also asks to disable Knox. Haven't had any issues yet. Installed twrp 7.0 From one of the other tab 3 threads. That's working fine too. Now for Carbon Rom support??? :fingers-crossed:
Doesn't work on GT-P5200 running XXUANB4. "This phone isn't currently supported"
I'm use sm-t311 with 4.2.2 and I rooted it by this app but nothing, sometimes my tablet restart.

I think KNOX plays a number on various Samsung Devices...
A number of times I ran TOWELROOT and I was rooted for a short time, but it would then become unrooted...
I then ran TOWELROOT, and installed SuperSU from the play store. When I opened SuperSU it offered to disable KNOX, I said yes...
It stay rooted now, all is good...
Hope this helps.

No doesn't work, had already tried that like a month ago. I think I'm giving up rooting this device, cant believe how hard it is. I've rooted and rom'd every android phone and device no problem. But even in the past the steps I used on Mac through terminal apparently don't work anymore, and can't get it to root on my Mac at all now.

Verizon Note 4 Has One Click Root Method! Video Proof!

Use this at your own risk. This is a Chinese app which will root your phone, but may also send your data to China! On the surface it doesn't seem malicious, but use caution.

From what i read in other threads I'm led to believe this is a temporary root, and will disappear upon reboot. It also installs kinguser, not superuser, and superuser cant be installed to replace it.
Also, this was from the Dev thread directly

I think this guy should have noted in this video it only works on 4.4.4 kit Kat and that when you reboot you will lose root sometimes you don't even have to manually reboot it will just shut down randomly and root is gone ....and for Lollipop it only gets to 51% and auto shuts down I would just wait for the devs to just put something awesome together I tried it yesterday and it was a headache trying to not reboot but when it randomly shut down on its own several times I was done with it ...jmo!!

I would suggest that you wait for a perm prerooted factory image to drop.

no. nothing permanent about kingroot. every reboot it is gone.
tried on Verizon Note4 and when I opened the app, it just show me the envelope and didn't give me the lock like in the video. So it's not working for me.
I tried this kingroot last night, say for like 5/10 min til I got tired of waiting and then I Uninstalled the shop and nothing had occurred. But I have no bank or sensitive info on device, nothing financial or even remotely sensitive info... so was worth it to try.
But no go and no root. And I wad ready as when I upgraded to lollipop and set up phone, play store was reinstalling apps from my note 3, that I switch back and forth between, installed supersu and titanium (though I've no root on 4 obviously! ) I was ready to jump into titanium and start Uninstaller Bloat if
I got proof of root thru supersu granting it, or whatever the kingroot Su access is. .. either way I wad ready though. ...
No go. .. so I leave it at that till someone comes up with a surefire way too do this.
Reading up on multisystem now... looks interesting! Since no more safestrap..... multisystem looks the way next forward, though a tad bit complicated. It'll work eventually!

I would expect about ten times more traffic on this in the thread, but seems so suspect that most appear not to be biting. Me included, but not worth it anyway IMO due to just a temporary root.

Yeah, I thought people would get crazy, but I mean , temporary root is not so bad right? For example it would work to get rid of the s finder and quick connect persistent icons on the notification bar , right?

Works on M2 KitKat. Nice job finding this
it doesn't fully get root access.when the device reboot you'll need to do it again
solution is grant root access and install recovery to flash SuperSU etc.

What i found about this rooting method and how to fix it by change the kinguser to superuser. Just wanna share to you guys.
Iroot and Kingroot are arguably two of the most popular rooting applications because of their efficiency and ability to root most android devices with just a single click.
But the only problem with this apps is that instead of the traditional SuperSU most android users are used to, kinguser is installed instead. Many people are always looking for ways to replace the kinguser with SuperSU because kinguser doesn't grant proper root permission to some apps like cleanmaster, lucky patcher e.t.c
I will be sharing with you guyzz two different methods to replace kinguser with SuperSU.

Android Pay works on unlocked, decrypted rooted 5X!!

Not sure the best thread to post this, so I figured I'd start a new one.
I just successfully used Android Pay on my unlocked, decrypted, rooted (with root temporarily disabled in SuperSU) Nexus 5X at Rite Aid!
I'll try to test at some more establishments.
I haven't seen anyone else test this yet, so hopefully this helps some of you on the fence who plan to use or already use AP extensively.

All the testing ive done....reboot brings it back to not working again.....there has to be someone who can figure this out
Does rebooting cause SuperSU to re-enable root? If that's not the case I imagine rebooting probably runs a system check for modified boot loader or whatever, which then sets a flag that Android Pay checks.
I've received my 5x (nice size, light and personally I think build quality is nice, coming from a Galaxy S4 and compared to wife's Nexus 6). Have to wait for the USB type C to USB 3 cable to root and decrypt.
Rebooted multiple times since rooting, Android Pay has had no issues. Still offers to add cards and such. It doesn't block payment right? I assume the issue is the app not loading properly overall.

Try to pay for something and see if it works.
Alright, that's the part I didn't test yet. I remember wallet would just deny you for being rooted or something, or at least it would give a message. I've seen no message and apparently if you just go into SuperSU then disable root it's assured to work. There are also obviously apps that can block an app from seeing the root status.

Android Pay uses the SafetyNet API. Hiding root from Android Pay will not do anything at the moment. Paying for something will not work either, but adding cards will
met152
Do you have any update after reboot?
So I'll be trying to test this out tomorrow. I rooted and started Android Pay and tried to add a card, go the error that my hardware wasn't compatible, I hid/uninstalled SuperSU and reboot, then cleared all data from Android Pay, started it up again and it let me add my card and said everything is working.
When I get the chance to test I will report back my findings.

Unfortunately I haven't been able to try this out again. Hopefully sometime this weekend.
Does anyone know the scenario here? It works once and then once you reboot it never works again? Should I reboot with root enabled or disabled?
If you leave root disabled it will always work (At least in my case)...as soon as you add root back and reboot...no go

Wallet has always worked on rooted without a hitch this bs didn't start until android pay came out. Good thing I have a physical wallet card and primarily use wallet for wire transfers between family memebers...I switch to keytag/keyring (blue icon in play store) since the split of wallet/pay into separate apps and haven't had any problems.

So you can have an unencrypted phone and still have android pay working? Just can't have supersu flashed?
Yes, unencrypted and unlocked bootloader is fine. I have also been using chainfire's new systemless root method, and android pay works with it (for now)!

Yes, unencrypted and unlocked bootloader is fine. I have also been using chainfire's new systemless root method, and android pay works with it (for now)!

You can root by installing TWRP using ODIN.
Updated my phone (which is not on Sprint Network as I live outside US) and must say, I'm quite impressed. There are no noticible UI changes but the system feels more snappier than before. I guess the Doze settings have been worked too because of which battery life has improved a tad bit.
Anyone know what Sprint meant by "Resolution to lock screen production issue"?
How can i root if i have this current version can anyone help me?

Flash TWRP with ODIN and then flash SuperSU zip through that recovery.
Do you guys capture the download link?

Does anyone have a link to download it. I would prefer to not have to put my phone back to full stock to get to then reroot and set my phone back up.
Used to get lock ups/crashes every day on MM until this update. Haven't had a crash since PG1 flashed. Maybe that's what
"Resolution to lock screen production issue"
meant.

Hot-spot mods of previous builds will not work. If you want, you can use pdanet or FoxiFi for it (no need of a rooted phone).
For Xposed, you can flash the zip available on XDA but you will require root for it.
PG1 source code isnt out, so developers will be behind still.

Well you gave me hope and i found some site called devlab that had a tutorial with comments. In the comments i seen mention of an 85.1 alt version that a few were able to install. Short story : I got it installed and im happy on pe2 using the alt version
86 updated version works best. And is newest.

You can skip updates with Odin. PG1 has been the best MM update to date for me.
Improved battery and Wi-Fi Calling for me.
