After playing Pokemon Go for a while my Nexus 6P accelerometer/gyroscope stops working. The phone doesn't auto rotate anymore and I can't use the AR option on the app for compass. The only way to fix this is by rebooting the phone. Anyone else having the same problem? I've found people with the same issue (Pokemon Go + Nexus 6P) on this thread on Google forums:
https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/nexus/ytCwNnOJEaM
EDIT
I'm currently using the latest 7.0 Nougat Preview
Yes, but it's a Nougat problem. It's fine on MM and it'll probably be fixed for the release version.
Should be fixed in a future build

That's awesome! Thanks for the answer.
Not quite Pokémon Go related, but with the new August Security patch update from Google, anyone else experience Auto Rotate being slow to respond? As with previous patch updates, I didn't have this problem.

Not always but a high percentage of the time if I'm using slow motion 240fps recording it ends at some point with the camera crashing and nothing can fix it other than a restart of the phone.
Is anyone else experienced this?
I can rma but I don't think it's a hardware issue.
Never had a problem the few times I've used 240. All stock software here

I'm in the same boat! hoping to find others who have this problem and get clear on whether it's a hardware or software issue. Mine first crashed when i tried loading 240fps slow-mo. restart was the only thing to get it going again. disabled google camera (which reverts to initial version), app updated back to latest, seemed to be fine when i went to 240fps mode, thought it was all resolved. then it came back again AFTER i recorded a slow-mo test at 240fps. When it's working (after restart) it works GREAT! but when this glitch occurs, can't do anything else with camera until I restart. I've attached screenshots of what it looks like when i try to take a pic after a crash.
I guess this is my window of opportunity to factory reset so I can unlock bootloader and root but would like to find a simpler solution if possible... anyone else out there with a similar issue?
tried uninstalling twilight and that seems to have stabilized things... fingers crossed
Same here if I zoom 100%. I called Google support and I have to RMA my 6P. :/
Here is the fix...Just upgrade your nexus 6p to Android N Beta through android beta program.
After updating to newest android version, my issue is gone.
Try this...it worked for me.

Are you completely stock? What camera app are you using? If Google Camera, what version? There is a known issue in version 3.2. If you're using 3.2, try rolling back to 3.1*** and see if that fixes the issue. If so, it's not a hardware issue.
Edit: Link for 3.1 http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/camera/camera-3-1-025-release/
Does Wi-Fi Direct work on the 6P? I've noticed that all my other Nexus devices(4, 5 & 10) will show "searching" in the settings and show all other wi-fi enabled devices but the 6P only shows "search for devices" but does nothing when tapping on that option in the settings, and it never shows any other devices. I'm running the latest stock Android 6.0.1 and rooted. Screenshots attached for the Nexus 5 and 6P to show the differences.
I have an issue that I think it hardware related. Whenever I search for a Wifi Direct device or even try to print from my device, the wifi cycles on and off indefinitely until I back out of the app/settings screen looking for the Wifi Direct devices. This doesn't happen on my wife's Nexus 6P. It's such a minor issue that I don't think I will get it repaired as it would put me without a phone for a couple of weeks.

Same for me on my Nexus 6P. But I noticed this behavior only recently after Android 7.1.1 update. I'm sure before I was able to print on my HP Wi-Fi printer without any problem.
My wife doesn't have such problem on her Nexus 5x with Android 7.1.1.

I am also having the same issue. I even went to all the trouble to sideload nougat with the factory image thinking it was related to that. But no go. Still cycling on and off. It is very frustrating. It worked fine in 7.0

Good to know it's not only my Nexus 6P! I suspect Google messed up Wi-Fi direct on latest android update for Nexus 6P. Till now I never found other posts related to this problem. I think we should file a new issue on Android issue tracker!

^good idea!
I posted on the issue. FYI i am also BLACKSWORD2016. forgot i already had a username and it got all messed up and forgot the password etc.
This issue is very frustrating. On the nexus google forums, some people have the issues other do not. I hope it gets resolved.
Anyone hear anything about the issue? How's everyone's battery life? I needed an RMA because it the battery drain was so bad.
I've never gotten wifi direct to work on my phone. anybody have any luck? I'm currently on PureNexus 7.1.1

Still not working for me, I'm on stock 7.1.2 latest June security patch.
Sent from my Nexus 6P using XDA Labs
I just spent the better part of my day flashing Pure Nexus 7.1.2_r8, 05/09/17 and WIFI Direct works flawlessly.
Hello,
With DP5 (it was the same on DP4), after a while (it can be a day or an hour), some of the phone sensors stop working: no auto-rotation and no ambient display. Reboots fix the issue until it happens again.
The improvment between DP4 and 5 is that auto-brightness is not affected by the bug anymore.
I saw some threads on reddit and other sites about the issue and a few android bug reports but quite nothing on XDA except on thread with 1 reply.
Some Android dev had replied on a bug report that this is a known bug and that the fix was ready for the next update (ie DP5) but the bug is still there.
So do you also have the issue? Any ideas where it comes from?
Some people believe it's Pokemon GO-related, what do you think?
Thanks
(I know that most of people play Pokemon GO anyway so this could mean nothing but issue started on DP4 it seems, and Pokemon GO released when quite everybody had switched to DP4.)

Seeing how it's not an official release it is just speculation by the dev that a fix would be pushed by preview 5. For whatever reason that was not achievable. The official release is more likely going to be aimed at fixing as much of the current known issues as possible.
It is November 1 security patch. It is a 157.75MB download. The update brings us to version N950USQS2BQK2.
Just got it about 20 minutes ago.
Here is the current update details:
Android 7.1.1 Nougat
The details
Release date: December 4, 2017
Android version: 7.1.1
Security patch level (SPL): November 1, 2017
Baseband version: N950USQS2BQK2
Kernel version: 4.4.21-12461033
Build number: NMF26X.N950USQS2BQK2
Build fingerprint: 7.1.1/NMF26X/N950USQS2BQK2
Previous versions required: N950USQU2BQJA
File size: 157MB
The updates
What's changing: Android device security updates, including BlueBorne fix (on SPLs September 1 or later)
Just got my alert for it too. But I have learned, the hard way, to wait for others to go first.
Just make sure you uninstall any Substratum themes before you take the update.
Also ALWAYS have a good reliable connection. Bad service is the number one way an OTA gets botched up. It fragments the download and can cause all sorts of wonky stuff.
Just did the download myself. Installed fine. No issues.
Camera has a new live focus helper... Seems a bit useless, but I guess if people were having big issues with it then it might be helpful.
Also just for anyone who is interested

I updated about an hour ago without issue, but I had that camera feature before today. It appeared after I did a factory reset about two weeks ago.
Anyone know if this had the KRACK fix in it? Verizon's got this in their update along with the Nov Sec update and Live Focus update, just last week .
I've had a issue with the gallery since the update before this one. When scrolling through it randomly jumps back up or is almost unresponsive to my touches. The only way to scroll smoothly is by using the blue scroll button on the side. It's incredibly frustrating! I've done a factory reset and and it still occurs, even after this update.
It only occurs in the gallery app btw

In the settings menu of the Gallery app, are the first two settings turned on? I think this happened on mine a while back (although I'm not sure I'm remembering correctly) and I turned off the Samsung cloud sync and image analysis and it stopped. If this doesn't work, I must be thinking of something else. Sorry.
Edit: I have all the options in settings turned off and my gallery seems ti be working smoothly.
Faceunlock still broken for me with exchange EAS
No update for me yet. Anyone else still yet to receive?

Hi XDA,
I'm having an issue where every time i unlock my phone using a lock screen notification to go directly to the app, my phone crashes and goes back to the lock screen. Is anyone else having this issue? Is there a fix?
Thank you

My phone is standard, no root or anything.
im on 1.1.2
Had the same issue since I got it. There is no fix until they fix it software side.
I have the same issue! Running latest 1.1.2 software, no root.
I'm from Germany by the way, were are you from guys? Would be interesting to see if devices from a certain area have the same issues.
This ****ty software feels so beta its unbelievable.
UK here, had the problem since launch day
Another EU version here with the same issue. Located in the Nordics
I'm also having this issue and the new update should resolve it!
