IIRC, the system folders are permissions-protected even after root and mount rw; you'll need to chmod 777 any folders you're trying to change/delete.

[Q] F320k updated to kitkat, show rotted, but cannot access root

Hi!!
Really need a hand right here.
I have got the f320k, and it successfully updated to 4.4.
After that, I tried to root it, but it kept showing:
Mounting system RW and pushing SU, then remounting system RO again
mount: Operation not permitted
failed to copy 'su' to '/system/xbin/su': Read-only file system
Unable to chown /system/xbin/su: No such file or directory
Unable to chmod /system/xbin/su: No such file or directory
I tried couple of times, it turned out to be the same as the above.
Then I got into download mode, it shows the phone is rooted.
Does it mean that I have rooted the phone only with a shell privilege but not root?
coz in the cmd, it didnt show as # but $.
Could anyone please give me some advice?
Thank you so much!

:) Solved EFS faild mount invalid argument (damage efs folder empty)

I finally managed to repair the damage caused by EFS and by when I go to the root explorer I had a clean empty folder EFS whatever I tried to install the new ROM moaning and costum and wipe reset Factory me is always the folder EFS empty my IMEI was correct as it was under the battery, the only thing I had a bad signal and wifi is deenergizes.
To repair the damage I'm desperate to be ordered from stock rom sammobil version 4.4.2 because my phone was slow I then ordered stoc 5.0 then I root the phone and ordered phils latest recover and then I went under the option to mount and put the mount seytem then I have connected phone to a PC and install the adb shell on the computer I Open cmd and typed it
adb shell
su
mke2fs /dev/block/mmcblk0p11 ( skip to next step if fail)
mount -w -t ext4 /dev/block/mmcblk0p11
reboot
This will create a generic EFS files on device
Root explorer/efs and delete factorymode(OFF) and replace with factorymode(ON)
reboot in recovery wipedata factory reset...don
This last what it says to me it was not necessary because I went in and looked exporer root file factorymode where it has been on only one I did factory reset and that's it I got back EFS files and I am so done with all programs EFS Bacup :good:
P : S: because I have a bad signal or should now install new modem in order to find the best signal
Yeah used to see that tutorial by nowy57.

Keep root between firmware versions ?

I have a Meizu M3 phone, which can be rooted only in older firmware versions using the "normal" meizu procedures.
As it is very easy to downgrade versions (back to an older "rooteable" one - 5.1.4.0), I've made my mind in doing some tests.
I've decide to give a try to flashfire to help me go from a rooted (but older) firmware version into a new version without loosing root:
I've choose the update.zip file of a newer version (5.6.8.30), configured everRoot to inject SuperSU into system and tried 2 approaches:
with and without mounting system R/W.
In both approaches the system is upgraded.
su is available in shell (# sign, after calling it).
But the system is NOT really rooted - tools complaining about no root, ES Explorer can't recognize the root, flashfire stays forever waiting for root access, and so on ....
Also, when trying to mount system as RW fails:
su
mount -o rw,remount /system
"Operation not permitted"
I ask the forum for suggestions:
Is there any suggestion with flashfire to help-me update versions without loosing root ?
Alternatively, should I repack update.zip removing both boot.img and recovery.img (editing also the update script) ?
Two possibilities:
1. setuid bit is not set for su. fire up a terminal, run
Code:
ls -al `which su`
and post the result.
2. there is a SELinux issue. this is more complicated...

Remove ku.sud from system

Hi,
I've unrooted my smartphone (Gionee Elife E7) , but was left a file back (ku.sud in xbin folder) that is impossible to clean completely the root track.
Whenever I try to remove it , it says "Operation not permited." I've tried to remove through a file explorer (EsFileExplorer) and also via a terminal emulator. The folder /system is mounted with read and writing permissions.
