I just acquired a Note 3 and would like to get unlocked and rooted so i can flash custom recovery. I have been pretty proficient in rooting/unlocking/flashing in the past. In searching for ways to get unlocked and rooted on this device has been a struggle and would like to ask if there is a tride and true way to do this ive missed.
Device details
Model Number: SM-N900V
Android Version: 5.0
BaseBand Version: N900VVRUEOB6
Kernel Version: 3.4.0 [email protected] #1
Build Number: LRX21 V.N900VVRUEOB6
I believe the bootloader to the Verizon note 3 is locked which means a custom recovery such as twrp cannot be flashed to the phone.
Edit: apparently, the bootloader can now be unlocked: http://forum.xda-developers.com/ver...l/official-note-3-verizon-bootloader-t3359370

Hello everyone! In advance, i would like to say that i am new in android, since i have owned 3 different iphones (3g, 4 and 5) all of them jailbroken. Android OS seems far better and the xda-developers team is number 1 in android mastering, so i would like for someone to guide me how to CORRECTLY flash this rom by friedrich420 to 4.3, since i have never done it before in my life. I have read about odin and the several steps i need to make to install this rom, but i am very afraid of bricking my phone. What should i do first? I have downloaded Odin_307.zip; philz_touch_5.18.5-i9505.tar.md5; Modem_XXUEMJ5_[GT-I9505]; EchoeRom_v5_18Oct. Is it 1. root 2. backup 3. flash ROM 4. Flash modem?....i own an unlocked, never rooted version of Samsung Galaxy S4 i9505, bought in the UK. Heres the about info:
Model number: GT-I9505
Android version: 4.2.2
Baseband version: I9505XXUDMH8
Kernel version: 3.4.0-1220396 [email protected]#1 Wed Aug 21 10:57:33 KST
Build number: JDQ39.I9505XXUDMH8
SELinux status: Enforcing
Secure boot status: Type: Samsung
Any help or link with tutorial will be greatly appreciated. thank you very much and thank you xda-developers team for the great work you have been doing all these years!
Hello. These are my i9500's details:
Android version: 4.2.2
Baseband version: I9500JKUAMD9
Kernel version: 3.4.5
Build number: I9500XXUAMDE
It is rooted and on the same stock rom I got when I purchased the phone, and according to these details:
ODIN MODE
PRODUCT NAME: GT-I9500
CURRENT BINARY: Custom
SYSTEM STATUS: Custom
I'm quite convinced I don't have Knox.
I wanted to ask the following questions:
Is upgrading to 4.4.2 worth it? Are there any downsides?
Is upgrading to a stock 4.4.2 rom WITH root and WITHOUT Knox possible?
I'm guessing I'll need I9500XXUFNC2, right?
Thanks.

Hi,
1 yes is worth it , downsides , new bootloader with knox security ( you also have custom stock roms 100% stock experience like Omega Rom , all the 4.4.2 features , all samsung features also)
2 no
3 that would be an option , yes
I recently upgraded to Android 4.4.4 and lost root that I had with Android 4.2.2, and I tried rooting my phone using Towelroot, but when I hit the "Make it Rain" button it tells me "This phone isn't currently supported." So is their a way to root a T-Mobile S4 running Android 4.4.4 that doesn't change the Device Status from Official?

5.0
android security patch : 2015-11-01
Baseband: 2BOK3(last digits)
Kernel Ver: 3.4.0
Knox 2.3
since i havent own a GS phone since S3 idk what options i have with the bootloader, safe to assume still lock and stuck or can i flash a stock rom?
As the title says I am trying to upgrade to Lollipop, but I want to keep root. I saw this guide that talked about going to BOC4, but the rom links don't work which makes me kind of leery as to whether its the best/current method. I do know that BOC4 is the last bootloader that allows downgrading, but that isn't an issue since Lollipop is rootable right?
