I have P9 lite from last week. Everybody is telling me that they can't hear me well. I tested it by myself and it seems that microphone sucks., sound is disappearing. If I speak directly in mic the sound is still quiet. I found similar problems on google, but no solution.
What can I do? Is there any way to boost the mic?
Considering your device is new my suggestion is: send it in for repair.
No sense in trying to "boost" your obviously broken mic. You paid money for your device and it should come in perfect condition.

Thank you. I'm going to T-mobile tomorow.
Mic is not there
The mic of the HUAWEI p9lite is not at the bottom of the phone. Yes! Its not. Its on the top of the phone on the right coner. So when u make calls just put the phone on loud speak volume a little bit down and then turn the phone upside down.. then people will hear you very clearly.. and I know its a sucky thing but that is how it is. Sorry guys??
Oh man, i think the mic on top is 2nd one and it is used for noise canceling.
I resolved problem by getting new p20 lite xD

on a I-mate jam it's possible to turn on speaker while calling so you can speak "handsfree".
This can be done by holding down the green call button.
When I do this the sounds of the speaker is de same as normal only the sounds comes from the back of the phone instead of the front.
Does anybody know how to fix this? A friend of mine has the same phone without a problem.

Have you tried while you are on the speakerphone mode to make the volume slider higher?
That ain't gonna help you. This is a known - and unsolved problem with the Jam. If you really need a speakerphone, you should return the phone. No amount of firmware/ROM update will help you.
I use the speakerphone option without any problems. The sound is loud and clear. What is this unresolved JAM problem that you're talking about?
Jam speakerphone volume problem
My XDA1 had the best speakerphone I've ever used, including corded phones. I could be in a conferance room with 10 people around the table and everyone could hear, speak and the participate on the phone never had problems with background noise. I have a hard time accepting that next generation technology from the same manufacturer should be woefully inadequate. The unit is advertised as a speakerphone, the solution is to return my phone and purchase another? No thanks friend, anyone reading this with solutions please respond.
I only have the phone for 1 month now so I´ll return it
tnx for the help
I think most of us don't know how to hold the mini in the right way, while the phone is in speaker mode...
if u want to hear a load voice.. make sure that back of the phone faces ur ear..
that' because the mini has 2 speakers... and the one in the back( near the mirror) is loader.. so you will hear the conversation very well...
and BTY.. I suggest u upgrade to the latest ROM available for ur device..
it helped me a lot....
cheers

Wrong - its patently obvious that the sound is coming from from the back speaker. Why on earth it comes frm the back is another question entirely, given that the speaker phone is supposed to free up your hands so you do other things, including multi-task on the device i.e looking at the screen! Every other phone I've had has a decent speakerphone - and they face the front too.
But the main problem is that the volume from the supposed "speakerphone" is too damn low, irregardless of location.
Considering all the huge volumes of prior experience that HTC has (making practically every Microsoft PPC device, smartphones, plus the Palm Treo phone), things like this awful speakerphone on the magician are really not excusable at all.
I went through 3 TREO 600s due to speaker problems. You could barely hear the speaker phone on the 600 either. ANd to top that off, no one could hear you! The JAM is nice, but the more that I use it, the more I wish that either I bought something else or that the the JAM could just work the way it was designed!!!!!!
1.3 Mega pixel camera... my ass! It's the same quality as my first Casio digital camera from '96. Not mention the fact that Imate can't even put a decent ROM update together.
Perhaps we should build our own PPC's!
P.S. PM me if you want the CEO and VP of Imate's e-mail address. I e-mailed them and they actually wrote back! -Of course they weren't very helpful though.
One time, I turned on this speakermode operation on my MDA-Compact, I could hear my phonecall loud and clear from the built-in speaker.... This happenend accidently, probably by pressing just the right button, but I wasn't aware....
I cannot find how to do this again? How can I get the MDA-Compact to operate in speakermode using the built-in speaker?
I'm searching this (and other forums) quite a while now, but I cannot find my solution?!
Any help will be very much appreciated!
Thanks,
Igor.

Speakerphone..
To turn on the speakerphone part press the Green call button whilst in the call for 5 secs or so.....
I updated my Jam and now it's all ok
Hy guys.
I bought this nice HTC Magician and it has a little problem. Speaker at the back of case works very well( I can play music and all), but the small speaker at the front panel( above the screen) for answering the calls doesn't work... You can't hear anything...
When I turn ON Speaker(back side) I can hear the caller, but and everyone around me....
And I can also normaly use it when headset is on...
In the mobile service they said that they have changed front speaker and that problem is somewhere on the motherboard...
Is there any salvation for this...

Assuming the service centre have changed the speaker for a good one, and they have cleaned the contacts on the motherboard, then they are most likely correct that it is a motherboard fault. Quite an unusual fault as normally earpiece speaker problems are either poor contact with the board or a faulty earpiece speaker.
If it is the motherboard, then a repair is not economic and could turn out to be impossible in some cases. Clearly the sound circuit is OK in as much as you get output using an earpiece. However, there could be an amplifier fault or a simple crack in the board connections. Without testing there is no way to know.
You could dismantle and check the connections (often the speaker has springy contacts that touch onto the motherboard). You can tweak them out a little and claen the motherboard contacts. BUT, if you trust the service centre then it would be a faint hope. If you don't trust the service centre (sometimes they give excuses because the job would take too much time for the amount they can charge - particularly on older devices), then you could dismantle (Always risky - unless you are familiar with this kind of thing - it could end up worse than when you start!!)
Mike
Mike, thank you very much...
I supposed that they probably didn't check everything as they should. Because hey're not officialy service or even to have experince with this devices. When servicer saw Magician he said " Oh this is complicated"... That's why I think that they even don't know how to fix the speaker or that they have put ther right one speaker. I didn't want to give them device to testing because I saw that they don't have experince as I said.
So I'm taking it, nesxt week, to service where I know that people are professionals...
I'll give feedback what i've done..
Hi All.. I posted this in Energy thread in deveopment but I think it is more suited to be answered here... anyone please help before my friend defects back to Apple!

OK Strange one here - hope someone can help!
I flashed older cookie on to HD2 for a friend and took phone to her in Malaysia - all seemed well but phone was freezing apparently so her brother went to HTC asia site and downloaded a ROM for it! GRRRR
Anyway it was a T-Mobile rom or something with a '51' radio. Since then when she makes a call she can not hear the other person through the earpiece (but can through the headset!) , but CAN hear a busy tone if the person is already on a call when she calls!
So I flashed latest Cookie Dinik style back on and replaced the Radio with 2.07.50.** and still the same!
I don't understand how the earpiece can make the busy sound but not hear the voice, yet headphone works?! I have connected remotely and used MyMobiler to see screen of HD2 and looked for anything that may be causing it but all seems fine.
If anyone has any ideas please help as she is about to go back to an iPhone after just moving to this HD2 on my say so!

hmm thats an odd issue and I would be suprised if anyone else has encountered it :S
are you positive its the ear piece speaker thats making the busy sound and not the loudspeaker on the back of the device?
also have you tried swapping between loudspeaker and normal handset mode? does the call work in loudspeaker mode but not normal speaker mode?

Good idea with the loudspeaker mode - will ask her to check that. Can't see how a rom flash could cause it - hope it's not faulty hardware!
I had a similar problem with my HD2: I wasn't able to hear my counterpart. I have tried several radio/ROM combinations with no luck. Looking at the test results I guessed it was a sporadic hardware issue of the earpiece. Sent the phone off to service, they confirmed the problem, replaced the earpiece and shipped it back, all free. Great service!
Of course, I had to restore to factory settings beforehand, including the original SPL, radio and ROM. If the phone is still under warranty I would suggest you try a hardware repair.
Does anybody else have problems where the person you call hears them selves talk? There voice is echoing!
Does flashing a custom rom stop this or is it because of the Crystal Talk stuff?
Thanks
It is possible that you're using speakers and the voice is so loud that they actually hear themselves? If you have not flash a custom rom and you're on official rom then no, you should ask the company to look into this if you still have the warranty.

It's not on loud speaker and the volume is at the lowest point. I only got it on Thursday arranged for it to go back.
Does it do it everywhere? I have had problems with all of my tmobile phones on occasion. Not sure why. My last phone used to do it all the time. Very annoying. Only had it happen once with the defy in the last month.

Never had it before with any phone I have owned. It's seems to be worse when i'm outside when the wind is hitting the second mic, also when this happens it sort of makes it sort of sound like i've got my head in a box when I talk. Hope that makes sense? Iv'e tried all the call quality settings but it's still the same. It has to be this Crystal Talk Type or what ever it is..
Thanks for the reply guys.
Our of curiosity, while this is happening, have you tried opening the usb cover to see if that changes the sound. There is at least one report of a "pressurized" effect on the Defy (as it's sealed) causing sound issues, relieved when the ysb cover or battery cover are removed.

hhmmmmm interesting, I did think about the hands free speaker being behind the battery cover when I tried calling someone and they said it was terrible echo.
I'll go and try it and let you know.
Thanks

Please ask all questions in the Q&A section. Thread moved there.
Even if this thread is old, is there a solution?
Hi all, my gm 5 plus seems to have a pretty low in call volume. i need to be in a quiet place to be able to hear the person on the other end of the line. anyone else have this problem?
i have the same problem
eny ideas ?
I also have the same problem. The volume of the phone is very low., I almost don't hear the other person when calling. I need to put it to speaker to hear it decently. Any possible solution for this issue?
I'm ok with the volume, it's just that sometimes my voice gets interrupted at all, and the other person seems not to hear me. Haven't been able to find a way to fix it yet.

i had mine send in for repair, because it fell, causing some dents in the metal frame. they replaced it for free, it was louder, but still too low. my huawei p9 lite and now my iphone are so loud i can almost use the earpiece as the speaker.
Speaker was dirty inside in my gm5plus, telpa service cleaned it up, now I can hear when call someone. (Or you can use a needle, but BE CAREFUL)
