I'm facing the same issue since the time I updated my phone to .253 firmware. It gets hot randomly even with 0 processes running. The battery drain is horrible can't get more than 8 hours backup. Any remedy for this or I have to use the phone like this till next update?

I have also gotten issues with ecoing when people are talking to me, well they hear me fine but they hear them selfs on and off in their own phones..
All of this started after i got Marshmellow on my Z5...
I have done 2 software repairs with no improvement and they recommend sending the phone in for repairs.. But i belive this is software related and not hardware!

I have not yet updated, and today the update notification disappeared. It now says I'm up to date at .224.
Anyone else?
I'm at .224 nordic in Norway.

Edit: ...and the notification is back again today.. ?

I ran Antutu benchmark app yesterday when my phone was heating up, well i got a good score of 69000. The funny thing is all the problems that i was facing after updating the phone are gone. Since yesterday the phone didn't heat up randomly once and the battery drain has reduced significantly. I am amused how this happened... lol

I am facing battery drain faster than before, also weird stuttering when camera is turned on, I mean fps is somehow low, it was more smooth before
Last night i lost 5% of battery during night and Stamina mode was turned ON.
Also wifi was off, mobile data off, bluetooth off, GPS off. Before it was 1% to max 3% during night without Stamina mode.
Something went wrong in terms of battery life.

The heat is not an issue but before the update I was playing suicide squad game on high graphics without any lag just the heat after intense gameplay, but since the update the game lags from time to time, it is not always but I am assuming it is because of the update...

So does official OTA left people with "battery jumping" issues?

Hello,
Anybody on this board actually never did modify their phone and received OTA update from Motorolla? I mean never rooted/unlocked/ etc original Atrix and went through official channels to update it? Can you report if you see "battery jumping" issues (battery available is higher after reboot then before reboot)?
I know it happens on all Gingerbread releases for me but I don't know is it becouse I was tinckering with a phone or something to do with my phone in general.
So I was wondering if 95% of people who does not even read this board and abide by ATT rules after getting latest Gingerbread update actually left with this awfull bug?
My phone has never been modified (meaning no root, unlocking, PROMs, etc) and it does have the battery bug.

So you got OTA update and on Ginberbread now, right?
You sure you don't have this bug? Please get down to something like 50% battery avaialble and then reboot your phone and see if it's changes.

Oh, sorry.
Damn, how on earth this idiots at Motorolla and ATT can release this update to general population with this enormous bug?
Stock, unrooted, locked BL and OTA to gingerbread
I'm now rooted mind you but in the last 24 hours I've not observed the bug (yet) fingers crossed. Battery life seems identical to before (basically around 10% an hour with 30 minutes bluetooth music and 15 minutes surfing, 3-5% an hour if idle). I do leave everything on and run skype + trillian in background (I didn't buy horsepower to leave it idling lol).
What about FP scanner? How is that working for you guys?

Did you reboot the phone to check if you have this is issue or not? Let it drain 30% of battery and then reboot and check if battery meter jumps. Several people on another thread reported that they don't have an issue but after actually rebooting and checking stats actually confirmed that issue is there.
I ran my battery down until it shut off and charging it has been a pain. Once I put it in the standard charging dock it powered right back up and said it had 50% battery left. Turned it off and back on again and it said 20%, repeated that and it went down to 5% then powered off by itself. Left it charging untouched for 3hrs and the battery only made it up to 20%. Really odd.
I ran it down until it powered off again and its been on the charger ever since. I would guess another update will come out to correct this battery bug in a week or two.

Had to delete my fingerprint profile and recalibrate/setup my fingerprint and now it works pretty much like it did before.
edit: got it! wohoo, sort of
Just tried this and I can't recreate the battery bug:
battery at 70%, restarted phone 3x, battery still at 70% each time
played a game for a while, battery went to 50%
restarted phone 3x, battery still at 50% each time.
used phone some more, phone still at 50%
restarted phone, still 50%...no jumps in battery graph
restarted phone, 100%, battery stat restarted completely (time was only 1 min 6 sec vs 8hrs before the restart)
restarted phone, back to 50% (time on battery did not reset, at 2m 19s)
restarted phone 3x...still at 50%, no time on battery reset
phone setup, fairly stock:
flashed .83 SBF (had the swype beta installed with no stock swype backup), applied the official 2.3.4 through SD card, rooted, swype beta. stock launcher, no battery/task/data monitoring type apps. motoblur account is set up and running.
Maybe a factory rest will straighten the phone out?
I'm rooted, bl locked, and updated to gingerbread using the official OTA.
I saw the bug initially when I had updated my phone while it was around 55% battery level. Immediately after the update, the battery level was at 70%. However, after rebooting my phone again, the battery level returned to normal and registered at 53%. Since then, I haven't seen any battery jumping issues - even after rebooting (it decreases probably 1% after the reboot). *shrugs* Maybe I'll see the battery bug issue if i reboot at a lower battery % level.
In terms of performance of the battery, the overall drain has been about the same as when it was when it was froyo. 1-2% per hour at idle. I usually get somewhere between 4 and 5hrs of display time and it's been the same for gingerbread thus far.

It does not seem widespread (using xda as a sample size is way too small and skewed). And it does not seem to happen all the time/seems to occur at random and only on reboot. Yes it's a bug, but it's not huge IMO. If you have it just apply the battery fix in the dev section.
for those that see the battery jump, does the time on battery stat reset?
Me too had the same battery jumping issue. Battery life indicated was highly unreliable and inaccurate. I discharged the battery down to the point it shutdown. After putting back to the charger it showed the battery to be at 50%. I let it charge again. Battery indicator seems to be reasonable now.

I don't really understand the point of this thread but you can simply flash this in CWM to fix any battery issues in GB: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1174349&highlight=Fix
i never modded/rooted my atrix
had 40%, received OTA, it read 73% restarted, still says 73%
It's piss poor for a company like Motorola to release a ROM with a bug like this.
My phone is stock and i also have this issue.

The reason i want to know is simply to find out if the official OTA fixed this bug and if it did that means the leaked beta from kennethpen is outdated since AT&T fixed it and may have also fixed other things (perf, batt efficiency etc.)
guys chill out lets all run the battery through a few full cycles before jumping up and down
you never had weird battery readings after flashing CM6 or whateaver?
for the record yes I"m affected, stock locked unrooted to OTA2.3....

Overheating

2 or 3 days ago, while running VR13, I noticed my phone flickering green/orange LED lights while charging and also noticed it was hot. I looked up the problem and discovered this meant it was overheating. Ordered a replacement two days ago, arrived today. I charged it fully as soon as it arrived before turning it on. Eveything was ok, no overheating and to take extra precautions, I even flashed Ele's Gingerbread rom. Everything was working flawlessly until around the time I got home, I noticed the heat was going up again even though the phone was on standby in my pocket.
The battery life was low from a day of using it so it's charging atm. The orange/green light sin't flickering so it hasn't reached official overheating status yet but according to battery info, it's at 43.2 degrees celcius. I have no clue what's causing this, could it be the phone itself or could it be software related?
I didn't want to get a new phone till December or before ice cream sandwich rolled out so I hope I can fix these problems without getting a replacement. Thanks for the help.
Let me understand you straight - you had an overheating hero, you ordered a replacement = a new hero, and this one is overheating too? Without any obvious reason?
I mean, a friend of mine had an overheating problem cause of keeping his phone under a pillow during the night, but I can't see why yours would get hot.
Just a long shot, but maybe you got poor network signal, your hero tries to keep it up, spends more power, overheats.. had this a few times with my hero, while I was powerusing (net, sms, downloading something in the background), phone gets hot really fast, especially if it's overclocked.
Post some more info. Anything could be helpful. It's not like temporary overheating is rare. In the summer..

Phone heats immensely while being charged, since 4.3 update?

I never cared able these heating stuffs ever, but for last 2-3 days the device is getting heated really badly, while charging it. The screen is so hot, and the upper backside around the camera section too, it's almost untouchable! The earpiece too! I checked battery temp and it's 41°C, so the issue is not there. How to check the CPU temp? And I think it's happening since upgrading to 4.3, because on 4.2, I never felt this issue. One more interesting thing is, the device is heating much more when the screen is off and the phone is charging, when I use it the device gets less hot, I think it's because the phone is charging at 1.9 amp when screen is off, and at 1.2 amp when the screen is on and the phone is being used.
Anyone else facing this issue? It's kinda scary.

I have heard of battery drain issues post 4.3 but think Samsung have released updates to fix it. I have had a similar problem a couple of times; I think both times are related to flashing ROM/kernels. On both occasions (today been the most recent) all cores (using CPU-Z to monitor) were been used at high loads and this obviously made the phone hot. Reflashing the kernel worked before but I have just changed LTE/WCDMA/GSM (auto connect) to WCDMA only and this had an instant effect on the cores. Perhaps that's worth a try.
I had this once on 4.2.2 , start charging at midnight and then early morning was extremely hot whith burn smell .
Are you using custom kernel ? maybe it's the fast changing feature !!
And yes I had this issue when it was on sleeping mode while charging , I disable it after that so it stay awake while charging and disable the fast charging .

Battery life after 4.4.4

There are mixed reviews by many users on battery life after 4.4.4 update.I am personally experiencing slightly higher battery drain.May be it needs more time to become stable.I am using stock non rooted version ...What are your comments on battery life?
Mine seems to be worse
mine seems worse too, but my screen on periods directly correspond to my awake times.
I miss root and wakelock detector

Rapid loss, about 8>1 in about 3 mins, this firmware has been noted as buggy hence the newer build that showed up on PTCRB
My wife's Z3 restarts at least once, spontaneously, most days. I think our firmware is better.
As for root, I'm not flashing .314 and OTA'ing to .167 in a not 100% certain hope of retaining root. Someone will figure a rootKit simple way of doing it

I'm not so sure...
No one is working on one click root for LB.
Simply because we have rooting method for 4.4.4.
Maybe I'm wrong but I really didn't saw anyone is on it....
Mine is worse too, in fact, it last as 60% of before update.
mine looks also worse, although keep in mind when you installed fresh rom with wipe (what i highly recommend) the operating systems needs some tine to settle, in the first 1 (or maby two) days the battery drain will be significantly higher.
Yes battery drain is worse but I think it may have something to do with the display being noticeably brighter after the update.
Sony seem to have been very conservative with the z2s brightness on previous builds.
Hopefully it'll improve as time goes on!

I don't think so.l,because i keep brightness at low level...Though people are saying that brightness is increased, personally I can't see the difference...
I think the battery drain is to do with mobile data signal or wifi signal
They seem to be having some trouble
Wifi- random drops or huge lags (stays connected though)
Mobile data - drops completly for a few mins at times, low signal compaered to before
Had yesterday 5h 49min SOT and 39% before i tested Lollipop. Its a bit under 4.4.2, but its ok. Maybe they where laizy and fix it in next one.
I can't really say for sure as mine seems indifferent and i was using WiFi always before. Now I am always on Mobile data. Plus, I was on a custom ROM then, now I'm on pure stock.
I'll say indifferent, but I am around 2hrs 40 mins screen time at 70%. Can't complain too much. Still monitoring it tho.

Blame it on ur Radio. Reception is so terrible mate.
I found that Google+ keeps the device awake and causes problems to stamina mode as well. Had to force stop it few times

anybody get the latest update G935VVRS4BQC9

Unremarkable, nothing but security update AFAIK.

I didn't have optimizing apps like normal and the update was much faster, but than again that might have happened since we got Nougat and I didn't notice it in the last two updates.
Otherwise its typical security update.
Actually after I did the update, now every time my phone rings Spotify starts and I cannot figure out how to stop that from happening. Extremely annoying

I had two bugs that it actually fixed:
When I was connected to AC power, and on bluetooth, and would hit the dialer app it would restart the System UI and display an error stating that the system integrity couldn't be verified and suggesting to recover the phone using the Verizon **** tools.
When you set a reminder and turn the screen off before the "Reminder saved" verbiage was stated then the phone will go ahead and say that EVERY time you unlock the phone.
It has caused noticeably higher battery drain on my S7E during the day. I left it fully charged and unplugged over night after the update, and it only lost 2%, so Doze is working in that case. But when carrying it around, it drains faster than I've ever seen it drain by quite a lot. I'm assuming it's a rouge app that has some issue with the update. MyRadar may be the culprit according the battery monitor, as it often was on my Nexus 6P.
I've cleared both cache's several times and done several reboots to no effect.
I was right, it was MyRadar. I tried to optimize it, but it did not help. I finally uninstalled it and my battery life is at least as good as ever, and it's always been outstanding on this phone.
As a very outdoor oriented person, so I love the MyRadar app. But it's been a glitchy app for me for far too long. I'm using Radar Express now instead, and it is not impacting my battery drain so far.
